4 is the only one where the characters can look good enough, it also runs better than 3, but that probably has a lot to do with how limited it is and the lack of a real open world.
If 4 had the same mods as 3, I'd pick that former without even thinking about it, S3 characters look disgusting.

I've been playing since 1, but I honestly think 2 was my least favorite.

Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed 4 more than 2, and 4 was terrible.

I don't know why. I just felt like 2 felt held back. It improved on so much shit but didn't really make any giant leaps, other than a 3D engine. Then you have the beginning of EA jewry with a billion full priced DLCs. When I played 3 I realized 2 felt like a beta, and 3 felt like the Sims game they always had in mind.

I hate 4 but I'd choose its Sim appearances any day. The one problem is customization in 4 is a hell of a lot more limited than 3. Yeah, they're ugly in 3, but at least you could tweak every single detail. Even more with mods. With 4 you've got good looking presets but very poor physical customization.

That pretty much sums it up. 4 has a well defined art style, specially for the character models, 3 was an attempt to make S2 characters look more real and the end result is awful.
I had some hopes for S4 mods, but I don't think the game was ever popular enough for people to waste their time into adding more customization, much less all the time and effort it would take to make a proper porn mod framework.
Some guy on fallenangel (or whatever it was called) forum said he was working on the porn mode for S4, but haven't had any news about it.

There really needs to be an open source sims clone, like with so many open-ended games, the main limiting factor is waiting for someone to hack the game apart to add desired content, and if bugs exist, hoping that the bugs get fixed by the company.
Sims3 is a nightmare when it comes to performance and bugs, and because the game is 32bit, it will never be capable of taking advantage of 64bit systems since EA rather pumped out a new game with less features and smeared plastic over all the textures.

2 or 3 depends on personal preference really, even fully upgraded i think 2 did some things better then 3 that puts it above for me, and even though 4 was designed to be a "Laptop Game" i would still put 1 on my laptop/toaster before it.

2 has no less memory leaks and and Turn-Ons/Turn-Offs were a great addition for Create-A-Sim (you can basically decide sexual preference immediately, bypassing that RNG shit.) and it built naturally on the lore of the first one while 3 kinda went "FUCK YOU" by being in the past AND the future at the same time, and i ain't talking bout the last expansion.
It basically had the most interesting Neighborhoods, but you have to juggle families since time stands still for anyone you are not playing, and doing so basically resets your wants, so many feel discouraged but the static state of the neighbors can be a plus for some people.

3 got KW though which is pretty fun if you get it working, though more for humor then actual fap material and the "Open World" is more trouble then it is worth for a good amount of it, especially sicne you do still need to switch "Open World" fucking constantly if you gonna do expansion gimmicks anyway. No, thge REL feature that makes Sims 3 competitive is Create-A-Style, which is the reason for much of the Memory leak, traits are good but ultimately ended up having a shitload of "dud" ones due the expansion specific shit, resulting in situations like Sims having Island Paradise related shit when playing on a map that doesn't have them, it also kinda suffered with having too many "Townies"/Randomly Generated Hobo NPCs, part of the fun is the neighborhood, and despite the openworld, and in the case of some BECAUSE of the openworld, it was hard to get to know the neighborhoods since 90% of the time what you would interact with would be a Townie and even "neighbors" could live far away, so you never had "Oh, My neighbor is having my other neighbor over" situation. Basically, the story progression sucks.

4 is basically 1.5 in theory, even though i remember it being "ALL ABOUT THE SIMS!" this time around, the CAS is stupidly limited, not only in clothes (due MICROPAY GOY) but also in way to give your sim personality and goals, and it i s by FAR the most dry one vanilla, yes, dryer then Vanilla 1, Get to Work at least added somethings to do and Get Together is basically a glorified cheat due groups being too fucking good due the brainwashing rewards basically letting you ignore the fucking core mechanic the rest of the game works off, base game tried to hard to be quirky(LE GOOFY WALK) and the expansions, though attempting show no sign of fixing that, oh, and despite all the whole "Dongrade so it can run on laptos" shit they STILL had memory leaks and shit, so it is worse then the 14 year older predecessor in every way aside from the fact Sims age, basically ==DO NOT BUY!== and that is before the "LET'S BREAK THE GAME TO BE PROGRESSIVE" patch.

1 kinda does becomes a wreck if you have all expansions, not due memory leaks unlike 3 and 4 ,If there are any they are irrelevant due technological progression, i know i thought it was slow as molasses if you had it all installed as a kid though, but hard to say how much of that was due playing on a toaster and what not), but because there are too many features which makes shit into a cluster fuck and some of them have questionable mechanics.(IIRC Vacations were clunky to do and often detrimental to EVERYTHING.), Unleased is to this day what i consider the most gamechanging expansion (And probably the reason why Fans wanted "Pets" for 2 and 3, so badly not the pets themselves, but because the association of the huge QoL upgrades the expansion brought alongside them, though i think 3 Pets snapped em out of it)

1 kinda does have issues due the GRAFIX but also some good shit, i like em and i think there are "HD mods" that keep the visuals acceptable, but the GRAFIX do result in the "Head/Clothes" CAS system, which can result in samey sims, on the other hand, sims will usually dress like normal people unless thy just got "THAT" outfit and most outfits did hit "Soap Opera" cliches that made archetypal assumptions easy like Bella Goth being eyecandy in the Little Red Dress, and the advantage is it is piss easy to make your own content, just open paint and get to it, and that is piss easy "modding" even by piss easy "modding" standards, the point system was interesting but players tended to extremes or "perfectly average robot" so i can see why it was scrapped.

3 for terms of sheer volume of content and what you can do, the games customization for characters is really good. Worst in the terms of performance by a mile though

2 is probably the most stable and is really good, but I got really used to 3 and find it difficult to go back.

I feel like TS4, even with as many expansion packs as 3, will still feel empty, mainly because of the buggier AI, lack of certain features, and the removal of the open world. No matter how many objects and interactive things you add into the game, you will ALWAYS be restricted to your single lot with it. The Sims 2, which was better than 4 in nearly every aspect, is still empty compared to 3. You can't recreate the feeling of living in an actual village/town/city if you remove the ability to do just that.

Try Passion. It's not as expansive as Kinkyworld but is infinitely more stable and tuned up. Plus its developer isn't a greedy shit who makes you donate to get stable releases for a sex mod for a game that's 7 years old.

I'm hoping that when they get around to sims 5 it will be like this. Most of what screwed up 4 was that it was originally meant to be online, so the lots were instanced like simcity's regions were instanced. Who knows if they would have kept it open world if they didn't pursue that direction.

Sims 5 will hopefully be open world again. It will be a few years off, so they will hopefully have the coding ability by then to make it run well, plus the average computer could probably handle something like nraas story progression in the base game. They may even be able to have larger worlds and play around with that (something like having farming as a career).

But more than likely with the way they're going, sims 5 will be a shitty isometric pixel/chibi phone game.

Graphics like TS2 or even the console versions, that were a little worse than TS2 but highly stylized (texture mudding similar to cellshading) regarding shadows and shades of colour so it could run better

But by about during 3 and 4 the realisation that they were just milking their consumer base and intentionally limiting their base game to sell stuff that was popular back to the consumer rose up. Heart and polish of 1, stability and optimization of 2, open world and ocean of content of 3, graphics and multitasking of 4. That'd be an ideal baseline.

My main gripe though is something that will never change, and that's EA being Jews. Each base game should have as much content as the last. Incorporate every expansion and ship it out. However, ever since 2 we've consistently gotten less content than the last. Actually, 3 might be an exception as it did have a huge amount of base content and features from 2's expansions, but still not all of them. 3 was a big step in the right direction, 4 is a giant leap back.

Sims 1 had that wacky fun sense to it that the game lost it through the sequels as it became more and more of a dollhouse. Specially Makin Magic, that's my favorite expansion of all games, the music, the people, the spells, it was really something special and unique

What kind of sims the game would generate if storyprogr on for more themed towns like mainly Asians etc, what jobs and traits they prefer and population cap.

Main thing i like in 3 is seeing how some premade families i just throw somewhere to live evolve eventually but then i get random nigger townies witch horribly mismatched clothing and such shit which really kills it for me.

I just don't feel like it's worth going to 4 because it still doesn't have much of the content I want and the new stuff they added so far doesn't seem that great, except maybe clubs.

Sims 3 is the best in the series. With performance mods and only a select few of the actually good expansions, it's amazing. Call me an autist but I really, REALLY hate loading screens between lots, no matter how fast they go. Open World was the best thing to ever happen to Sims, and they removed it in 4. Also, Sims 4 is fucking lazy. No toddlers, just children growing into teens who are the same fucking height as every other age group. They couldn't bother themselves to make more than 2 sets of animations.

I loved Makin' Magic. Supernatural came close, but I really loved the old Gothic/Victorian style world you got with MM. Supernatural sadly didn't have that, except for Midnight Hollow which costs a whopping 2300 (((simpoints))).

If there's one big thing I like more about 2 and 3 than 1 though it's that the expansions are GENERALLY more solid and worthwhile than a lot of 1's. For example, the need of having World Adventures or Pets in 3 is questionable, but they're still better expansions than House Party or Vacation. In fact, not many of 1's expansions were great looking back.

As annoying as the constant witches in Supernatural are or the vampires of Late Night, at least these expansions had a lot of content that merged in with the main world and impacted life for your sims. EPs like Vacation and Superstar had sectioned-off worlds that felt isolated and contained. Only Pets and Makin' Magic really had an influence on the actual game.

Turns out there was a 'swap actor' option when clicking on the other party.

So far the character is a romantic interest, yet no option has appeared for 'move in' or 'marry'.

You have to propose going steady, then propose marriage then either have a wedding party or have a private wedding.

or if you have nraas master controller, you can go into the settings and find the option that says something along the lines of add to current family/household.

You don't have to go steady before marriage.

Do you know how the dialog system works? It tells you the mood of the conversation in the upper left corner of the screen. You have to keep doing friendly or romantic options to get the mood up before proposing to move in or marry.

Here's an example, I circled the mood in red. It has to say "friendly" or whatever, instead of just "okay".

The Sims 2 focuses more on your sims, whereas 3 focuses more on the neighborhood. If I remember correctly, this is one of the promise of EA, bringing back the focus back to your sims instead of the neighborhood in The Sims 4.

All in all, I prefer 2 because I want to see my Sims raise a family with love and care and laugh as they all die in a fire.

Sims 2 was actually interesting to play because you have a lot more stuff to be focused on. It was harsh on player who doesn't know how to spend his day.

All sims after 2 were much easier. If i had to choose between 3 and 4 though, i would choose 4 just because the performance of 3 drives me crazy.

They've aged like milk and the lack of meaningful aging/open world mechanics is really awful in retrospect.

It'd be the perfect Sims game if it had an engine worth even a single shit, that didn't run like ass on modern systems, that didn't take 10 minutes to load, that didn't have shittons of bugs, and didn't have generally horrendous software issues.

It'd be good if it had shit to do, no DRM, a decent Create-A-Style, actual open-world, no DRM, wasn't made by EA, and had modding capabilities.

I remember a bug back around 2012 with Seasons or Generations that actually made 3 almost impossible to play. Something was wrong with the mood configuration and so unless your sim's bars were maxed out in everything they would be miserable and keep getting unhappier.

1 was definitely the hardest. 2 and 3 were easier but still tricky enough considering how much extra shit there was to do on top of managing your sims' lives, but 4 seems very easy to me. They outright said it's more focused on sim interactions than actually living sim lives, hence the MMO roots.

It's recommended you get nraas registers, overwartch, relativity and careers (very useful, since housewife can be a career)

That's why you use the nraas register.

IT gives you total control over what kind of sims the game spawns. You can limit the number of stray cats/dogs/lambs/horses and tourists and such. Also you can control how the game assigns sims to jobs.

Just tried starting a new game in Dragon Falls world. It's a really nice world, I recommend it.
About the only downside is that you get distinct blocks of houses (neighborhoods) on different levels.

Saums and Bayonetta shacked up together, as did Serious Sam and Doomguy.
Doomguy works in the military, Sam in the police

Duke Nukem has a big house and he's living with Lara Croft and the depfreeze sisters. He's also in the military. He's living in the same neghborhood as the Holla Forums and Holla Forums households. Also, Holla Forumss neighbor is Schlomo Shekelberg.

Other sims are sprinkled around town, and usually living alone. Dio, Gabe Newel and Pc Masterrace got nice, big mansions, others live in relatively normal houses.

Not much happened so far, other than Lara fucking with everyone in the household, Bayonetta seducing Samus, and a rapist making a big mistake of trying to rape Serious Sam.

I haven't had any serious errors, and I've been playing for a a long time, even updating saves.

An occasional slowdown here and then, but if you set up Overwarch, Register and Relativity properly and clean your world a bit, the game runs OK.

If you're playing on core worlds, get the fixes for the world you're playing. The EA worlds have a few issues, so there are fixed versions to download.

I'm also wondering if KW is even worth it at this point, without it the game runs alot better.

I tried playing this "Pagoda Isles" from simsrealty but goddamn every night overwatch removes anywhere between 50 to 70 homeless sims and 20 to 100 cars which tells that there's some serious issues in it.

All buildings on a lot must have the same foundation. No mixing for sheds, garages, etc. (x)

Original Sims was a pretty fantastic game, but both Sims 1 and 2 were just some dollhouse simulators where you would just drag your sims around looking after them so they wouldn't die, even with second game's skill systems you were still confined by annoying loading times which meant that you wouldn't travel much unless you had one of those expansions like Destinations, and these lil' fuckers needed way too much micromanagement, even adults acted like dumb children.
But Sims 3? You had a whole town to explore. You could check out all the locales, you could go shopping or hiking, and your decisions were made more meaningful as Sims became more self-sufficient when it comes to decisionmaking. Also the transparent mood bonuses and penalties were a great addition as it helped you understand what in particular made Sims happy, you could actually plan out doing all those actions Sims love so much to make them more efficient at work and such.

Now, Sims 4? Sims 4 is a massive setback. I don't care about the whole gender settings nonsense, it's alright as it is because they're giving it options, although I'm sure it is bound to get weird with devs adding special snowflake gender characters from now on. But you know what makes me REALLY hate it? It removed one of two things that made Sims 3 so fantastic, the absolute freedom to explore the whole town. The only new big thing it added was emotions, but even them the whole "strong emotions like hysteria may cause death" mechanic is stupid, there should be more different interactions between Sims when it comes to different emotions, it shouldn't just give bonus or limitation to certain actions. Also graphics got downgraded and they added pools despite previously having claimed it's impossible, so they are massive faggots and fuck Sims 4, series is dead for me if it continues like that onwards.

I manually remove some households I don't like and place new one in Edit Town.

Aliens were added in the very first EP for the game. There are basements but you can't go down more than 2 levels. Though with 4 if you get MC command center you can unlock teen AND child pregnancy which were available in the game from the start but disabled by default, now with the mod they're unlocked but it comes with the caveat of the morphs not working correctly and changing sizes on their own

IMO, The Sims 2 is best and my rationale is that it predates the cat lady cult that play it now, the toxic rigid corporate culture of the post great recession video game industry and the vein of cultural marxists/positional activists shoehorning agendas into innocent games currently.

The first game I ever purchased was the Sims 2 for the playstation 2. I literally bought it with loose change. I don't have a strong desire to play a Sims game now though, as it's literally a doll house simulator.

To be fair, it was nice to create the ultimate pad for my Sim. Like Battlefield 2, The Sims 2 is basically a simple formula fleshed out. Everything after that, while technically superior will always seem overly refined and or like a step downwards/backwards.

The series may go off the rails and they'll refresh with a game that's simply called "The Sims", or something like that. To my eye, series like these belong to a niche genre and if there was to be a clearly better iteration then it wouldn't come from Maxis. Consider what happened with Cities: Skylines vs. the newest Sim City. Cities: Skylines is much better and actually feels like an improvement for the entire sub-genre of simulated city builders.

For me personally though, I just can't shake the feelings that it's too silly of me to construct a fake life when my real one needs attention. I actually do need to go to work, work-out or do laundry. I can't be bothered and for me personally the series seem almost lost to me due to how well it lends itself to being feminine.

I just reinstalled it yesterday and it went fine, there's probably something wrong with your PC.

If I could only pick three expansions, I'd choose Ambitions, Seasons and Generations since they blend into the base game extremely well and should have been vanilla in the first place. Revamps to careers, weather and childhood respectively.

The next tier I would choose is Late Night, University Life, and Showtime. These ones contain stuff that are nice to have but aren't used as often as the content in the above tier and feel more situational. Late Night is a fucking cool expansion and has the GOAT Sims 3 town for the Steam only content but requires a good computer to get working.

After that would be Island Paradise and World Adventures. World Adventures is easily missed on some playthroughs and feels very rough around the corner, focusing more on dungeon crawling rather than foreign vacations. Island Paradise has a huge amount of changes to the game and adds more ocean shit to do, but is the most buggiest of all the expansions and toasters suffer.

Last on the tier for expansions is Supernatural, into the Future and Pets. I placed these last because they don't quite click well with the rest of the game such as having zombie invasions and magical animals roaming everywhere. ItF makes the game piss easy with the advanced technology and doesn't flow well with the theme of the original game. Lastly, Pets is an expansion that I'm fairly certain was headed by a bunch of interns so while the concept of having dogs, cats, horses and other pets is cool, the presentation of the materials is awful.

As for Stuff Packs: Outdoor Living, High-End Loft, Town Life, Diesel, and Master Suite are the packs I would recommend although I would place the importance somewhere above World Adventures but below Island Paradise. Movie Stuff, 70's, 80's and 90's, Fast Lane Stuff are basically niche theme packs and are very jarring as well. There is also Katy Perry Sweet Treats but it's not sold anymore and the content is fucking trash.

I haven't reinstalled the game in over a year but when I do I always let the game patch itself.

It's easier to run the superpatch after installing the base game, before any expansions. Also you don't need any cracks with nraas nocd.

I know there's only so much you can do with Sims 3, but I also know it's possible to get passable looking Sims. Usually you find some presets you like, then download a dozen different mods (each) to make them work, which involves finding working versions to match the long-dead links and ultimately takes you to 4shared or some other cancerous ad-driven sharing site. Even with all that it's a struggle to get things to work.

Are there any pre-made packs out there for this? I know it would probably be against every single modders "do not redistribute" bullshit, but someone has to have done it somewhere.

Some of it works, some doesn't. Downloading that skin didn't help (or I downloaded the wrong one, which is the risk you run not including it). Of note, Bayonetta and Samus are both missing their skins (far from the only ones). Lara and Yukiko both look good enough as is to be useful, so at least some of the pack is good.

I don't mind paying for EA games, I generally don't like pirating games if I can buy it for a reasonable price.

That's the thing, it's not really reasonable considering how fucking buggy, bloated, and unoptimized the game is.
You still have to save more regularly than if you were using MS office because the game will crash after about an hour or two if you're lucky.
Sim pathing is braindead retarded, the assets are fucking huge and take far too long to load, script errors out the ass, without overwatch you get overrun by vampires, it's just ridiculous. There was no effort on EA's part to optimize or compress assets at all, and the player suffers for it at one hell of a price tag.

The main fault of Sims 3 (if not the only major flaw at all) is its unoptimization and instability. I imagine this is strongly due to the open world and the poor compression of the game assets that might've been beyond EA's control, but at the same time I wish they would do more. Sims 2 had the same problem if you had every expansion pack. While more stable than 3 you constantly ran the risk of corrupting the entire game if you fucked up. Compare that to Sims 1, where even with every expansion and a shitton of mods it was a very stable and very bug free experience. You had to constantly try very hard to break the game for it to actually break. Sims 2 and 3? Welcome to corrupt dataville just for owning too many expansion packs.

I can just imagine the frustration of those casual soccer-moms and such who bought every expansion+stuffpack and some store-content too and cant run the game anymore with their shitty premade wal-mart computers.

That poor compression is largely due to DRM and the inbuilt support/expectation for said DRM. It naturally adds overhead to every single piece of content added and prevents said content from being refactored for better combined efficiency.

Though im honestly surprised that the game doesnt crash for me at all an even runs quite smoothly but that's because i rarely go out of my home-lot on the backwater edge of the world due to just getting annoyed how shitty the town looks when having high-res lots at 1 only.

This is the sort of dumb broken nonsense post that I attribute to someone very tired sitting at their computer. I mean sure, its very possibly true, but who really knows? Teeney bopers everywhere loved the sims at one point though I guess the series will never have that popularity again.

Alternating between 15-28 FPS. Sometimes jumping to 80. Hangs mostly around 22-24.

Having trouble with some of the CAS sliders not keeping their positions. Most of the face sliders seem to work properly, but the extra ones found under Mouth: Global, in particular the breast/shoulders/waste/butt etc, all reset to their previous positions whenever I select a different sim or outfit. I don't think they keep when I start the game either.

found the problem. Apparently changes made while looking at the naked outfit don't change.

I run without issues and lots of mods and all EPs. The only problems I get are occasional stuttering from NRAAS. I've crashed once in about 4 hours of gameplay. I'm running it on an SSD with a 4gh processor though.

yes you can. I have most the store content 5 gig plus, but I my upload is just not worth the wait. Also i only have the store updates up to December 2013.

Store content if you look at what it has is honestly a bunch of shit.

At most there's only 1 pack with some items you might actually like but even that's stretching it depending on your tastes so if you install 5gb's of store content changes are you'l never use most of it.

problem is figuring out which monthly updates have the items I want. There ARE some nice items in there. Nice for the way I play the game anyway.
