Almost two years ago I was working a job that paid like crap. I worked around 40 hours a week but made barely enough to pay for housing. Ramen was my main source of food for a good while until I learned cheap foods and recipes just so I wouldn't go insane from eating nothing but ramen and water. Everyone around me including friends and coworkers strongly urged me to use government assistance, but I had a feeling in me that by doing that I was stripping myself of my manhood, that I couldn't even support myself. I refused any assistance and continued to work hard until my boss found out that I wasn't willing to give in to the system other people in my work were doing and she gave me a raise, plus some extra hours to live more comfortably. I would rather work hard and starve to death than use government assistance.

Meanwhile people that don't have honor like that will take as much advantage of the system as they can and I have people in my family that even dissolve into stealing from other family members and friends. Even worse is that everyone I know or have seen who rejects work also turns to drugs. But if living life like that means having everyone pay for you and not going through any hard financial times then it's easy to see why people turn to this.

I know this is a pathetic thing to say, I loathe people who says this kinds of shit. But for a while I tried, I really did. I knew continuing down this path, wouldn't give me any real chance of anything. I was really scared I'd end up feeling like I do now, I realized it was coming on four years ago. My will broke, over and over again, trying to pick myself up ate what little I had left. I only really wish I'd have enough money to get out of the city, so I could at least enjoy nature away from people, but the cost of moving and the expenses of owning a car would probably push me into debt, at the very least taking a large chunk out of my savings.

I quickly lost feelings for what I'd found, in fact before my last month of work was up, and I could've gone back easily, but it was all just slowly pushing me towards the grave anyhow, and my aversion to interacting with people was becoming unbearable. I just feel like now I've almost completely lost my ability to feel. I've absolutely no ambitions for life either, there's nothing I want to achieve, I don't even want friends or family anymore, I think I've felt all the joy and anger I had inside me, it wasn't much either way. There are absolutely no single particularly traumatic things in my past, sure there are many unpleasant things, and nothing particularly good, but nothing bad that's big.

Prices have been rising ever since 2008, while the starting salaries for university degrees are like 400 euro (20% or so in most cases) down from 2008. So this results in a large part of the population that struggles to buy a home since a large part of the population is working temp contracts since the rules regarding contracts have been made flexible and the economic crisis of 2008 happened.

For example I'm doing a CS degree right now, average starting salary is 2750 euro a month for this degree in starting functions. While if you looked pre 2008 in sociology people were earning 2600 euro average starting. And that's actually more than my 2750 would be because of inflation and sharper rules on mortgage (which eventually leads to me paying more). And CS , econometrics, math, engineering are in high demand on the labour market. And the salary is still shit, but for other jobs even shittier?

Spend an hour reading Holla Forums, out the door by 5, at work by 5:30, do a straight eight (no lunch break) and I'm done at 1:30. If you make under iirc 39k a year, you pay no tax at all (other than sales tax, but just buy less. There's no tax on food from grocery stores, just on food out.) I work for a small consulting agency and do manual labor. Construction, handyman, moving etc. As full time employed by law I am guaranteed pay even when there's no demand.
