This is what I don't fucking understand about the type of girls who say this shit. You can't just suddenly blanket claim "this is OUR hobby now" - despite the fact that male gamers have always outnumbered female gamers, and likely always will (unless you count mobile games, which only the stupid do). It's not a fucking castle you can besiege and take, it's a hobby and a culture; an intangible idea that cannot be claimed by one group to the exclusion of all others because there is no objective standard that declares 'when all conditions have been met, gaming is officially a female hobby'. These baseless claims of "move over boys, girls own gaming now" has absolutely no meaning because it is not and cannot be supported by reality.

I could wake up tomorrow and declare all over social media that "crisps are officially a guy thing, sorry bitches" but it would be sheer bullshit because there is no objective, commonly-accepted standard of which item belongs to which subculture - everything falls into the vague, postmodernist fog where everything can be 'claimed' for one subculture or another and yet it has no effect.

It's like an image I saw a while ago in which a herd of feminists were deciding to 'seize' the Lovecraft mythos from it's previous 'owners' by 'colonising' it with shit stories full of their politics.
