They were established as "truths" in an era before any modern genetics science and is often based on a mixture of superficial characteristics and stuff that's clearly within the realm of sociology. Or we could take something like the Hispanic "race" which is nothing but a collection of people who came from Central/South America and whose first language is Spanish. The ultimate problem with your approach is that people do not spring from the aether and exist as inoffensive individuals; they come from a population and they produce a population.

Except that your kind can very accurately predict what kind of actions you will signal, so this at least partially denies causality.
