Xcom Enemy Unknown Thread; I killed earth edition

So I recently got Xcom for free on my Xbone, and I'm doing just terribly. I know you at least some of you fags love the shit out of this game, and despite getting my shit kicked in three times now I can see why.
I'm looking for any tips or tricks to getting past my first few months. So far I have yet to even take out the first(?) Assault base before I start losing countries, but I can't seem to get enough funds around to cover the world in satellites/upgrade my gear. I realize I suck cocks, so with that established what do you got for me Holla Forums

Shameless bumb

Overwatch trap the aliens, satellite spam, rush plasma weapons.

hunker >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>overwatch

...

Just fucking get 5 assaults and 1 support and you'll be fine, jeez.

No one likes it on consoles. Sorry, you had the wrong impression.

How the fuck can you play on the xbone with less than 20 fps.

It adds to the turn-based combat.

You're a shitter if you're having issues in vanilla. Get a PC and play Long War you wimp wristed faggot then make a thread complaining about how bullshit RNG is.

...

Also, don't you get a blue stripe at the bottom of the screen, depending on the map or camera angles?

...

- Prioritize putting satellites on all countries
- Continental bonuses are optional, they are not 1st priority
- Losing some countries is normal, as long as you keep half of them you can still win
- Completing main objectives will make some more tough enemies to appear, you might want to delay this.
- Once you attack the alien base you'll get like half of the attacks you received before.
- Satellites cost goes down as you get more eingeneers.
- Scientists and Laboratories are not important.
- Upgrade everything to lasers ASAP
- Try to get at least one armor upgrade and get six of them.
- Forgot to mention: upgrade your squad to a six-soldier team. Do this soon, too.
- Once you cover the planet with satellites, you've already won the game. You can concentrate now on building stuff and buying better stuff.

As for the missions:
- Savescum
- Keep a little distance between your soldiers so a grenade can't hit more than 1 at a time.
- At the same time, try not to cover too much space at the same time.
- The typical thing that will kill you is getting close to an enemy only to wake up other xenos. Try to kill them from a distance. If they are covering, try launching a grenade or flanking them.
- If you believe you'll find a xeno while exploring, only send one guy to a cover and put everyone else in Overwatch.

Abuse the fuck out of grenades and move slowly and you'll never lose a mission

Thanks for looking past my shit taste in platform and contributing, you gentlemen give me hope. My main issue is getting started, but I'll bump the difficulty dovvn to classic to help me get started.
For the record, I'm a poorfag building a pc piece by piece.
So… Xcom general novv I guess?
Or /thread, either vvay.

Just play Open X-Com, like I can't even

Impossible isn't impossible, but it's not balanced and designed to kick the shit out of you if you don't know exactly what you're doing. Classic is fun. Also supports are undervalued, with overwatch boosting perks they're surprisingly lethal.

Some gents told me to shitpost xcom memes here, but i only have 2 xcom memes.
Help us fight the alien threat commanders with some memes

If I hold off on researching the biotech shit, and don't interrogate any ayyy's, vvill the game keep throvving the basic enemies at me or vvill it eventually throvv the advanced shit at me anyvvay?

So should I altogether ignore the healing perks for support and focus on ovvervvatch?

Some aliens will not appear I believe I don't think sectoid commanders or Ethereals appear before the alien base mission
>So should I altogether ignore the healing perks for support and focus on ovvervvatch?
Even in full cover and good strategy getting hit is an inevitability, at least get the medic ability of increasing medkit uses.

what no, getting your best guy luckilly shot to critical, having a medic revive, then heal over half his health in one turn allowing him to shoot back or whatever is priceless, focus on maining healing first and then an overwatch perk or two to your discretion

SWEDEN NO

Understood, 'ppreciate it. I'll avoid completing main objectives on this next playthrough and see vvhat happens, but I've been critically underestimating the uses of overvvatch.

Lost all my old ones, sadly.

Turtling with overwatch is one of the reasons I'm sure for meld canisters being on a timer in Enemy Within and timed missions in XCOM2. A full squad can just move a few tiles, go on overwatch, and repeat until the enemy walks into their sight and get decimated.

shiiiiet shame mane. this one saved 8)

If you're savescumming you should focus on overwatch supports. If not then healing is essential, especially in those moments when a whole heavy floater pod spawns out of fucking nowhere in a situation that's already fucked up.

On a side note here: Anyone know how to get good ratings on the terror missions in long war? I always get poor or acceptable and ive resigned to just face it as a panick rape train mission where you dont win, you just do a little bit better each time type of mission

I'm sorry, I'm a faggot. VVhat the hell are meld canisters?

It's just luck. If all the pods spawn near you and you can activate and deal with them.

The way terror missions work in EU/EW is basically cheating, they will randomly kill a civilian in the darkness even if they are not near it, it's all scripted. Only way to save them all is activating all pods.

I wouldn't bother actively rescuing civilians in terror missions until your team has 3rd tier tech at least or more. It is better to take the terror hit than lose some squad members to death or injury.

GRENADES
100% CHANCE TO HIT IF THEY'RE IN THE AOE
THE DAMAGE IS RELIABLE AND NEVER CHANGES
GRENADES ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND IN EARLY GAME

I'm not going to yell at you if it's your secret shame (there's no way I'd enjoy JA2 1.13 if I didn't savescum) but it's more than possible to finish an Impossible game with Ironman enabled. Especially vanilla EU, which is super easy to cheese. Do not encourage it.

It's useful for approaching pods, not fighting them. Hunkering is a better idea when you have people who can only take bad shots or are fragile.

Bring a bunch of scanners and chuck them everywhere. If you can see a civilian, they can't be killed in the fog of war.

So the regretbox Xcom comes without enemy within? Then go all out for squadsight snipers. You'll crit everything dead the moment it comes into anyones sight.

So this overhaul for XCOM 2 came out, apparently it was a brutal bug where officers will summon in late-game reinforcements from the beginning

I'm booting it up because I like pain

I have a rare special one Central.
Should we deploy it?

Pic related, they are in the expansion to enemy unknown that let you build MEC suits and genetic mods

I guess I should have added that condition, since in these xcom games the enemy can't fight against you until sight has been established.

Is this your creation user? If so deploy it ASAP

Scannerchucking is mu rule of law, god bless engies

Deploy it immediatly commander, we wouldnt want EXALT to get it in a hack now would we

No, there is a guy on the Loverslab forum who make a Valkyrie mod (full nude with nipples and P-13 version with no nipples). It's not a reskin but rather a new unit which use the ruler skill sets.

We have trained X-COM Snek removers too!

...

That would just irritate me more instead of feeling enjoyable.

You mean getting a turn after every action against it or the same skills?

post the snek removers tho

...

No. The guy said she could be –show you the world– hug you and slam you to the ground like the Archon ruler. Etc…
No free move bullshit, i guess…

It's cool user, you will die between boobs!

Last time when i post these thing one of the user asked if there is a bikini mod. Well, still no bikini but i guess the last pics could be enough for him.

Why are Skyrim's modders so autistically devoted to that game and that game only? I guess it's just the in-built audience or something.

Will it stand forever as the only game with so much lewd modding?

This is the last i can show…
The guys still work on it, and mostly just experimenting with it (since they are few).

But don't fear brave soldiers! No fake snek tits can take away our beloved home! Have no fear show the ayy fuckers that…

We will not go quietly into the night!

Where'd you get the mod from in the 1st pic?

It's tremendously popular, has alright graphics and the capacity to make them good, big open world game so you can do what you want, and of course it lends itself to be modded very easily.

Probably also has to do something with the setting what with all the magic, orcs, and elves which is why Fallout lewd modding never took off.

The anime head: I don't know…
The nudes: Barebare V2 and ModsMods (they only on the Lovers forum so far)

Yeah it's a recurring problem.
But as i know currently the modders waiting for the fallout 4 CK for nude mods. They plan something pretty big and different!

Sadly they are too autist to understand Todd and his Jew Co. will delay that shit for least a year.

Wasted talent if you ask me…

The creation kit is already out and has been for about a month. There was an internal dispute in loverslab over what direction they want to take the sexlab framework, but it's supposedly been resolved and they're now developing it.

Don't expect to see too much past that as Fallout games never get much lewd mods. Not like anyone wants to spend more fuckin' time in FO4 then they need to anyways.

...

You can't get the Long War mod now, it was the best part of this game.

i tried playing xcom without long war, i cant, im too accustomed to the lashings that is the upgraded version of xcom

I like vanilla EW like it is.

fair enough, vanilla eu is still god tier game 8)

Yeah, there seems to be pent-up demand for lewd fantasy. I wonder if any big company will ever corporatize porn. Although there is tons of money in it, it seems like it's permanently stuck in an undeveloped state.
