Marvel Comics Announces a Line-Wide Overhaul in 2018

You can't fool me that easy, Marvel. I know nothing's going to change.

What’s the odds marvel will pull a rebirth? They already pulled a new 52

Well, Cebulski is certainly trying his hardest to unfuck things. If that image is anything to go by, take not of the important stuff.
It's a step in the right direction, at least.

...

I'd be happy if they brought back Fantastic Four and it remained good. That's probably by favourite Marvel title all-time, it would be nice to have a good run on it again.

...

Kek. Naw, I'm good. Reminds me of the Heroic Age overhaul, where they made a big deal of going back to the classic characters and there would be no heroes fighting heroes and big events. Then nothing actually changed. While Cebulski being in charge does give me a bit more confidence in this, I'm still not sold. I'll check back in a year and see if it still has its momentum. While hopefully this is a good sign that they're cleaning house of SJWs, I have my doubts that it'll fix the other major problems Marvel has. Like will it continue to be event after event after event, each touting themselves as the most important moment in Marvel history?

Didn't they already try a Rebirth with Legacy? Did it fail so badly that they had to reboot again?

King Weeaboo looks like he's really trying to assuage the fears of retailers by putting that shit up front, while promising them the readers they did get won't get chucked out by including Mileserman and Ms. Mudslime.

I'm still not going to buy a fucking thing though.

Legacy was literally just Marvel saying:
It was awful. The only saving grace was that it didn't last long as each one was 1 issue.
They also slapped 'Legacy' on issues of comics but it didn't have much to do with it. I'm not really sure what the point was.

At this point they could make the best runs of these characters in years and I still wouldn’t support them. They’ve burnt up every bit of goodwill I had towards them. It’s a shame daddy Disney keeps them afloat.

I might buy one comic from them if I'm also allowed to horsewhip every writer and editor until they're bleeding all over the floor

good luck

THE BIGGEST SHAKEUP IN six months of MARVEL HISTORY
Surprised they're not just synchronising the events and relaunches to the movies by now. Making whoever is in cinemas the "main character" of the universe until the next flick comes out.
Naturally they'd still fuck it up spectacularly and not attract a single new reader from the box office to the comic shop (if they can find one in the first place), but it would make their brand of 'sense'.

Even though I don't care for them at all, because bad writing has really dragged them down into the kool-aid depths with the rest of the token diversity characters, Miles Morales and Kamala Khan are selling well by Marvel's present standards. They are at least well established and recognizable to some extent, which is more than you can say for Iron Negress or Moon Niglet… or "The Real Hawkeye" or that team of Cosmic Niggers they were pushing during Civil War II.

They threw a metric ton of shit at the wall and Black Spidey and stretchy Muslim are the two turds that stuck.

They were also the first 2 out of the gate and didn't come with a cost to the original characters. Well, ultimate Peter did die, but 616 Peter was just fine and Miles didn't run around saying how terrible Peter really was, as far as I know. They were cases where newer readers could enjoy the fresh start of these characters and older fans could still read about the originals.

No one is going to care about woke, sassy black girl replacement #73 that's going to shit on the OG character people enjoyed.

It's funny that they're doing away with the legacy numbering (as ridiculous as it was). Didn't Marvel do duel numbering in the early Quesada/Jemas days?

Legacy was a rushed quick fix to reassure retailers and stall for time and brainstorm an actual game plan. Note how irrelevant the Generations one-shots ended up being, despite them piggy-backing off the end of Secret Empire.

But it's important to remember that DC's Rebirth was also kind of a last minute attempt to save face from a botched relaunch (DCYou)

Marvel Entertainment might as well be openly competing with Marvel Studios now, so it's no use trying to cater to people who will never touch their books. Why else do you think they were so eager to cannibalize their older reader base for trendy millenials?

OP forgot to include the video.

Left: Jim Cheung's promo art

Center: Avengers #1 by Jason Aaron and Ed McGuiness

Right: Venom #1 by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman

MARVEL MAY 2018 SOLICITS WILL NOW BE RELEASED ON FEBRUARY 22

A full complete reboot would be better than this.

They better include lots of musclegirlfag pandering else what's the point. Also get rid of all the shit from her dreadful post-CW2 comics like her super woke gay friends

Why are you guys even talking about this like a positive? Let Marvel die it's slow death. If you give them a cent, they'll go back to doing the same old shit the second they get stable footing. That's all this is, a tactical retreat.

They have not learned their lesson.

What if marvel introduces the Fuck-Itverse, where every marvel hero has adamantium claws and a venom symbiote and is a hulk and has their own ironman suit

At this point they could let Zodiac/Joe Cool just write She-Male She-Hulk porn and it'd probably be better reading.

Marvel can still get fucked.

Yeah, that'd be nice if it wasn't for all the cape addicts. But also, come on, Marvel isn't going anywhere as long as the Mouse is milking them for IP.

“Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be rolling out new beginnings for a few of our key franchises—new creative teams, new starting points, new storylines—all the big stuff that we’ve been building towards since Marvel Legacy began. This isn’t a clearing of the slate—while these new starts will kick off with new #1s, we’ll be maintaining the classic Legacy issue counts as dual numbering on these titles as well,” says SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort.

FRESH START MAY 2018 SCHEDULE
May 2 - Avengers #1
May 5 - FCBD Avengers/Captain America (story 1 by Jason Aaron and Sara Pichelli; 1st pic is the cover, probably by Jesus Saiz or Javier Rodriguez or some Marvel folk who does not leave no signature on his covers [hint: he's not Jon Malin]) & FCBD Infinity Watch/Spider-Man (creative teams to be revealed after the May solicits)
May 9 - Venom #1
May 23 - Black Panther #1 by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Daniel Acuña (2nd pic) — start of the intergalactic empire of Wakanda story

WILL BE RELAUNCHED

Likely to be relaunched

Hey, I'd read it.

...

Nothing changed when they started targeting hashtags and memes either.

This is the shift, when comic companies leave one trend and start chasing another. They're still the same shit, just with a different coat of paint. They've been doing this shit for decades and you faggots bought into the whole niggers and dykes crap.

They haven't learned a God damned thing!

And actual spics don't like Morales

Bitch gonna die.

Miles is gonna get a new name.

I don't mind that She-Hulk but then again I am a huge musclewomanfag
I'm more pissed they seem to still be using the dyke Carol

I really hope they don't go with Spy D. That's pretty much the dumbest shit ever.

For how long? We all know death is a slap on the wrist.

I think those characters all have been conceived by shitty writers, I want to see them with competent writers.

she's coming back next reboot, in ~6 months

At this point, I think they're pretty much unsalvageable. I don't even want to see them with competent writers, I just want them to be retconned out.

Like said. There is no hope for them. Retcon them away or just never use them again. Wipe the whole slate clean and just give us like 100 issue max runs of a character at a time then make up a new one no one will care about. Least then the properties people liked won't be sullied again.

Irrelevant without also announcing that they're clearing house on their talent. "Maybe a change in editorial is all these people need to be writing good stories" said no one ever

...

Captain Marvel has a movie coming out this year, it'd be retarded to not try and include her in this year's push. As long as the movie isn't a horrible flop, which never happens with Marvel movies, there will likely be people interested in picking up comics with her in it. As for Miss Muslim and Spider-Nig, they're the only "not absolutely ass" things Marvel has come up with in their diversity push. Disavowing them seems silly, since they actually have a legitimate fanbase.

I originally liked Miles in the Ultimate universe, specifically becase they gave Peter a dramatic and heart-wrenching sendoff, and becomes Miles spent his time feeling like he could never fill Peter's shoes. I didn't read the entire Ultimate series of him, but I read up to his mom being killed by Venom and it was enjoyable. The issue with him now is that he never developed a personality aside from being in Peter's shadow, except not Peter isn't dead so that entire character conflict is gone.

...

...

Then develop them into something original that aren't shitty tokenized knockoffs of pre-existing characters. Turn the obnoxiously peppy muslim marvel into Rubberina, Plastica or whatever the fuck you wanna call her. Give them their own original lore and rogues. The fact that they got famous despite being diversified versions of pre-existing characters is irksome. Even pic related was an original idea with no pre-existing progenitors despite becoming some fat acceptance icon.

Or better yet, make them new mutant students for Prof. X who decide to do their own thing and never actually get to meet the heroes that inspired them but admire them from afar. Its that simple.

Also this.

He obviously doesn't. Nova should spend as little time on Earth as possible, ideally nearly none, and deal with cosmic threats instead. It is annoying, because there are good stories that could be told with this character. Making him leave Earth and make his story a coming of age odyssey in space would be interesting. Any visits to Earth should only be used to illustrate how his time dealing with space stuff changed him.

Fuck Bendis and other hacks that replaced DnA. That fat faggot even managed to drag his favorite Mary Sue Kitty Pryde out into space and make her a member of GotG.

The blue bear got something right? Variants should be no more than two per issue on no more than two issues per year (and that's a maximum, not a target to aim for), allocated 3-1 to stores regardless of how many they order

You never fucking read the book, did you? God dammit, Holla Forums, stop fucking bitching about comics you never read.

Okay but that's an hallucination. She does meet her much later in her run but that's not it.

Not the guy you're replying to but we did read them, some user storytimed them a couple weeks ago, and they started with some promise but being an averagely okay 6/10 comic, but by the 5th issue, somehow it was all shit.

...

She does end up meeting her faggot but the whole point is to not meet them, have them simply serve as an ideal to reach for. Give them something to strive for, because the eventual meeting was lackluster.

I was actually thinking in a lore for her in a free hour in college:
It keeps the same first 4 issues but then she has to fight a guy who can change his density from gas to liquid to solid (soft sci-fi, don't ask me how his internal organs stay in their place).
He is also a radical muslim who wants to implement the Sharia Law in New York, he progresses by exploiting the feeling of being an "oppressed minority" on the local muslim youth and turn them from "moderates" to "radicals" despite that he himself believes the local muslim youth to be pampered and soft.
So Ms. Muslim now has to keep her friends, family and neighbors as moderates while finding a way to stop the radical leader without breaking the laws of the moderate Islam about no killing while the radical leader can just kill left and right because is not against his beliefs.
It was a really slow hour, but instead of taking such a concept, we got this:

I think the book improves considerably when Takeshi Miyazawa takes over the art.

But that's the whole point. These characters wouldn't exist if the Big Two couldn't tie them to an established franchise.

I think the art tricks people into thinking there’s any real quality there.

Worked with Gwenpool.

It's almost as if comics are a visual medium.

No they fucking didn't. Why do you lie?

Thor keeping his pimp hand strong!

Incoming movie, cartoon series on Disney XD, wasn't a bad character without Bendis hands, to make it look more like the film.

Baring him having an inability to get rid of the diversiteam hires; worst you can get is more stuff like Marvel Disk Wars or K-On but with muties.

Wait, I thought she had cancer; not aids.

She was massive wasted potential.

She does. But for all the pushing of Carol as the biggest female character in the MU, Whor outsold and was better received than her. And if one thing is true about Marvel, no matter who is in charge, is that if something slightly works they'll run it into the ground.

Don't tell me you can't see some bullshit like:

Still makes me laugh.

Once Thor gets his shit back; Whors sales will drop hard while original Captain Marvel has been dead long before Marvel went insane and Carol was shit even when she looked like a female so I figure they'll just end up evening out if Marvel can get good writers again.

You know it'd be curious to see some Western Muslim who becomes radicalized because people make fun of him and he joins ISIS only then to encounter YPG and Yazidi fighters and get captured by them and tries to pull the whole "oppressed minority" angle on them. It'd be kinda funny to see that.

Gwenpool had some good in it to begin with. That and normally Gurihuri's art allowed Hastings to do his better writing and leaving the mediocre writing for other artists in filler issues.

Was he ever sexist to begin with? I get the feeling they made him into that just to give Fem Thor someone to go against.

Not to my knowledge. It wouldn't surprise me if there is some dated, out of context panels that look bad by today's standards, but not to the levels that Aaron has assassinated Odin's character with.

He was a shit to Jane Foster, tbh. One time he judged her unworthy of Thor's godly humps by giving her Sif's powers and expecting her to fight like Sif, which was admittedly a jerk move.

Hey, last time I remember Jane Foster showing up was Tom Defalco's run, wasn't she married? What happened to that? Did they put her husband in the fridge?

Nope, not going to buy shit and not going to believe a single word they say about revamping. You can take all your books and shove them up Jack Dorsey's ass.

AFAIK, that bitch is gone.

The Disney XD Marvel cartoons were some of the worst shit to ever "grace" capeshit animation.

It's nice to see that all of the political hipsters are building hate bunkers to weather Marvel's turn around, even if they're flimsy as shit.

To be honest, Whor did sell more in local stores, because people found her more attractive and also because they wanted to laugh at it. "Captain Marvel" has no sex appeal or a "so bad its funny" appeal. Its just straight up unredeemable. I just wish Thor would go up to Whor's corpse and take the hammer back. One of the stupidest things they did was not call her She-Thor or Lady Thor or even Goddess Thor. Anything to make this bitch a more marketable piece like any other female doppel of classic heroes that were made over the years. They literally set her up as a replacement of the original much like the rest of the "All-Different" Avengers, but it backfired. She could've been as beloved as She-Hulk but instead they made her into some kind of virtue signalling icon.

It's not bunkers, user.

Oh where did everything go so wrong.

You're right, they're weak ass stick sheds.

If your great survival plan is to hide behind Negro-man and Ms. Muslim, books that range from mediocre to good, you're going to be shit out of luck.

Wait, when did that happen? Im I getting senile because I don't remember this ever going on.

you might want to look at this.

archive.is/hhwOx

It's like I'm watching a beautiful car crash between two people I hate.

One thing I absolutely hate about the current state of the hobby is these outside observers trying to put a deeper political meanings into standard comic book fare.

Mainstream comics go through fads every five years or so. #Hashtag Heroes are dying off and being replaced by fan pandering, which will probably mutate into another horrible "FANBOY AGE" like what happened after 2005.

Heaven help us all.

...

I'm not angry anymore. I'm now just sad that this has become the norm.

This shit is why everyone reads manga.

Journalist like that are one of the reasons why comicsgate started.

The fucked up part is that they had the guy who did BTAS but Quesada still fucked it up and to make matters worse; Man of Action were a bunch of incompetent yes men. Think the new Spiderman cartoon may even be shittier.

I fear for the Mega Man cartoon.

That journalist could never be as big a cuck as SWC.

Everytime I see that fucking Mexican meal listed in Executive Producers my expectations drop for a show.

Excuse me?

It's baicly people who really want to get SJW bullshit out of the comic book indursty. kida like how gamers did with gamergate.

Yeah, but thats fucking retarded. The only people who advocate for a "comicsgate" are comics journalists desperate for attention, casuals who buy into the whole "sjw take-over" crap, and Shitty Web Comics.

Quesada, fucktard that he is, didn't have anything to do with it. Jeph Loeb's the VP in charge of Marvel Television and he's the one mandating that all Marvel cartoons have to be dumb because otherwise children can't understand them

So not at all?

Are you kidding the gamers where able to show the genaral pubic that the SJWs are scumbags, exsposed a great deal of crroruption among games journalis, it cost Gawker millions which made it easier for Hulk Hogan to take it down, and has given people courage to stand up to the SJWs messing with their hobbies.

Gawker is supposedly "down", yet Kotaku, Polygon, etc, are still around. Weird.

They got bought by different companies when Gawker died. IGN took Kotaku I believer, don't know about Polygon though.

Emma Frost says…Let It Go

What's left of Gawker Media is now owned by Spic TV network Univision (and subsequently renamed Gizmondo Media Group), while Polygon is owned by Vox Media (also owner of The Verge).

That just lead to other faggots messing with our hobbies, like poltards and r_thedonald fags, who use the fear of sjws to infiltrate our communities. Even gamergate wasn't immune. When the 2016 election was approaching, pol all but took over gamergate to shill for their conservative agenda and gamergate became a shell of it's former self.

Which leads us to "comicsgate". Gamergate fags have become convinced that sjws are the source of all problems in media, so they think we need a "comicsgate" to purge them. However, a "comicsgate" would hurt us more than help us. It would empower the irrelevant joke that is comics journalism and give the big two a new angle to shill comics. Worst of all, a "comicsgate" would immediately stop the decline of the very sjw books people are bitching about.

...

...

Are you high? When far right morons like the poltards tried that by making GGrevolt ( a group that wanted to fight SJWs using SJWs tactics) Gamergate shunned and called bullshit on it . To do nothing would let the SJWs do more damage than they already have and leaving a easy opening for far right groups to swoop in to force their brand of bullshit down our throats.

Why always this faggot tries to downplay the sjw shit in comics in every thread? Sure, it's not the source of all the problems but you have to be retarded to overlook it like that
You sound like those retards in twitter saying that making racist jokes is the way nazis infiltrate your mind

The guy sounds like a tribal leftist. Someone that thinks SJWs are bad but anyone whos leans the slightest bit to the right are worse.

What have the sjws done? Got hired by Marvel to write characters who were cooked up in board meetings? Be terrible writers?

You guys are building up sjws as some big monster in comics when they're just flies on a corpse. Really, looking at their history, how can you take the big two chasing hashtags seriously?

This. It's not like they take formerly beloved characters, pump them full of blatant politics and diversity, and then run them into the ground or anything.

I can tell you right now you weren't reading any of the "sjw" books before this shit started. You think of them as "beloved characters" because you're a fucking casual who only knows about comics in passing. You had absolutely no investment in it until Gamergate was a thing and are suddenly "shocked" to find out they raped some character you only know from a movie.

I was around when DC literally raped Sue Dipney. I was in comics when DC shot Ted Kord in the head. I read when Keven Smith wrote that Batman pee'd himself during Batman: Year One. I know about "Trouble". I've been so deep in this shit that I know your "beloved character" plea is a load of bull. They've raped all of these characters hundreds of times and the only reason you care about it now is "muh sjws".

So can just take your "comicsgate" and shove it straight up your ass you disgusting piece of shit. You want us to fight over a fucking hill of garbage.

Let's see they made comics that filled not only with misandry, and saying how every white person is a member of the KKK, they turned characters like She-hulk, Carol Danvers, and Gamora into swamp donkeys to pander to sex negative feminist, and turned other female characters shrill bitter and unlikeable. They formed hate mobs to go after people like Frank Cho, and EVS. They're still trying to get C.B fired from Marvel. Don't get me started on them trying to do harm to Youtubers that criticizes them.

Why is it that if someone mentions some obscure comic writer, we can get a bunch of twitter screen-shots of dumb shit they said, but when I ask about sjw shit in comic I just get a bunch of a generalizations?

Here's some examples Gabby Rivera's America. comic filled to the brimmed with racism.

Bendis making the god-awful Riri Williams and have her replace Tony Stark. Riri is so bad a character that she gives poltards ammo.

Jane Foster and mockingbird being made into mouth pieces for the feminists

Storm being made a Racist in the crappy Black panther and the crew comic.

Female characters like Gamora, and Carol being made to look more like males than male characters.

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Finally, something to discuss.

First off, all of that shit is either dead or dying. America's getting canned this Wednesday. Riri is on her way out. Jane's going to die. The Mockingbird book got shit-canned back in 2016. Black Panther and the Crew was shit-canned just before release. The stuff about Gamora and Carol looking too masculine is neither here nor there.

The Direct Market has basically flushed that shit out of the mainstream. Marvel fucked up, flooded the market with hashtag books, and since comic shops are the customer in the Direct Market, they got mad at Marvel for giving them unsellable drek. In turn, Marvel cuts their losses, keeps only the successful hashtag titles, cans the rest, fires the Editor in Chief, brings in a new guy, and the system continues as it has for the last thirty years.

However, I don't consider that a win. All I wanted was good comics. I wasn't getting good comics before the sjw shit and I'm more than likely not going to get good comics now. Nothing has fundamentally changed.

>IT'S NOT SJWS GUYS
What is it with morons like this?

>THE jews SJWS ARE BEHIND IT ALL

I want these newfags to leave.

wtf, I think SJWs are innocent now
So I guess you're a tumblard and can't stand your shit being called out.
you are all alone here we can all see what you people do with everything you sink your claws into

They aren't innocent, but SJWs are a symptom of things going to shit, not a cause. Comics have been dying far far before these rainbow-haired faggots came into the picture. Shit like Ultimatum sinking entire universes, Alan Moore getting screwed out of his own creation by DC, the monopolization of distribution by Diamond, and so many other examples have been sending us into a death spiral where the only release is for the Big Two to go under and the industry to crash.

Not morons, they're shills paid to misdirect people from the real guilties by disregarding facts and mocking those who speak the truth. See for an example of how they act.

This. It seems both sides of this often retreaded argument on here is a result of people talking past each other, with maybe a bit of shilling mixed in to drag it out on longer than it should be had. It is like arguing over television. The jews could fire every left leaning creative employed under them and hire the best non-biased talent they could find. Would it save television from streaming though? They may have a few more hits and improved ratings, but people are still going to be steadily migrating to streaming if they haven't already. I hate SJW's as much as anyone and would love to see them removed from any position of influence. Having said that, I understand that their infestation within the comics industry is only a small part of what is wrong with the comics industry. Just replacing them won't "right the ship" and perhaps nothing will until the Big 2 die.

The general public bought the journalists' narrative hook line and sinker you fucking idiot.
literally nobody cares
It really hasn't. They've only doubled down, especially since the 2016 election.

Great, so we either get #hashtag danger hair snowflakes ramming diversity down our throats, or the pendulum swings and we get alt-right Pepe memes and Moonman rammed down our throats, and either way comics and cartoons are fucked and it doesn't look like they're ever going to get better.
When the future is a boot stomping on a human face forever, does it matter if the boot is on the right or the left foot?

Yes. The left literally wants to destroy and genocide whites. They literally want the future to be be browns and jews.
The right campaigns for whites to be allowed to continue existing.
Anybody who argues differently is either a shill or a useful idiot.
Comics are yet another industry the Left are trying to co-opt completely or, if they can't, destroy to demoralize whites. That's what everything has been about since the end of the second world war. People are only noticing now because the jews pushed too hard too fast within the past ten years because they thought they'd already won.
Accept it or go back to reddit.

The comics industry is a cluster-fuck. Management that is short-sighted and out-of-touch with reality, staff that are inexperienced, a sales system that relies heavily on gimmicks, and a market system that puts all of the risk on shops buying the product.

That's why a lot of us want the entire thing burn to the ground.

...

At this point, mainstream comic book industry is not salvageable. Big two have to die or shrink. It is never good when an entire industry is dominated by two companies. If comic gate were to succeed, it would help to prevent the decline of big two.

They are on editorial and HR staff. They have the ultimate control of what is kept and removed from the book, and who gets hired.

Big two had problems almost from their inception. However, before SJWs came along, they did not have a convenient way to dismiss all criticism as racism/homofobia/sexism and did not pat themselves on the back for implementing retarded changes. I would take retarded edgeleords and marvel zombies of 90s and early 2000s over today's SJWs any day.

Pre-Women in Refrigerators (and similar blogs) you would not get in trouble for daring to not treat female characters with kid gloves, or other content that would offend blogger's and social media activists' sensibilities. But guess what? They were let into the hobby, entered business end of things, and now too many editorial decisions are made based on feedback from selected websites and groups on social media.

Burning most of American comic book industry and building something new and improved is the best long term option.

If that were true then Eddie Berganza would've been shit-canned from DC long before 2017.

With the editorial claim, I'm assuming you mean Heather Antos, the editor in the infamous "Milkshake" photo. She's an assistant editor, which means that all of her decisions have to be approved by actual editors. In addition, she only oversees four titles, none of which are tentpoles, and one of them, Gwenpool, is getting canned this Wednesday.

Here's the thing: I want there to be an sjw conspiracy in comics. If there were an sjw conspiracy in comics, then Marvel would double down on their unsellable hashtag books and bring down the entire industry. Comic shops would close all over the country due to the loss of over half their revenue. Without the shops, DC will find making comics unsustainable and massively downsize. Diamond would file for bankruptcy. The entire Direct Market would collapse if Marvel really believed the social justice bullshit. It would be glorious.

But no, that isn't case. It was just a fucking trend Marvel chased and now they're abandoning it as they right the ship, something I called way back in 2014.

Yeah, Loeb; got them mixed up. Bastard things episodic shit is better because people can miss episodes.

They all got hurt enough that they got sold off; if Kotaku hadn't been bought it would've died along with Gawker.
With the shit they put out; it's only a matter of time.

The whole point was to get rid of old ones bringing the hobby down and replace them with new sources and if they fall to the same bull as the old; fuck em'.

Marvel was constantly doubling down up until they really fucked up by making Captain America into a Nazi which led to Twitter and Chans being of the same mind though with more laughter in the latter. I don't even think the Comicsgate thing started until the SJWs started trying to get artists fired a month or two ago which wasn't long before Marvel made its change.

They fucked them up so much they've gone suicidal.

Without SJWs at least there would be a few good things to read as the comic world marches towards its death.

Comicsgate was never a thing. Comic journalists made it up because they desperately want their own gamergate to fight against. They really need the views and the relevancy such a conflict would bring them. They so want to be part of the vidya sjw clique it's pathetic.

The only other people advocating for it were Shitty Web Comics, but they were retarded ass casuals.

For the Marvel "Doubling Down", that's actually an interesting story of how stupid the comic industry is. Marvel saw some success with their proto-hashtag books, bringing in desperately needed new readers. So Marvel, being the geniuses they are, thought it was a good idea to drown out these new readers by flooding them with more books and cross-overs that they never wanted. They hoped they could turn those new readers into "Marvel Zombies" and solve the dwindling readership problem overnight. Which leads us to Marvel's current situation.

It'll probably go down as one of the monumentally stupid decisions in comics history, like the DC Explosion/Implosion, and Marvel causing the Great Comic Book Crash of 1993.

THOR #1

On sale 6/13/18
>THOR #1, written by Jason Aaron with art by Mike Del Mundo, sees the start of a new mission for the God of Thunder. The artifacts of Asgard have been scattered across the Earth, and to reclaim them, Thor will have to face some ugly truths…Like the production cost of hundreds of new hammers! And he’ll need every last one of them if he’s going to stop the unstoppable when none other than the Juggernaut joins the fray.
>Emerging from his landmark run on MIGHTY THOR, Jason Aaron is ready for this fresh take: “On the one hand, I still feel like I’m writing the same Thor story that began six years ago in the pages of THOR GOD OF THUNDER #1. But at the same time, GOD OF THUNDER had a very different look and feel and focus than Jane Foster’s story,” he explains. “And even though Thor Odinson is now reclaiming his mantle, this new volume will also be going in a very different direction. Thor has a completely new status-quo. Actually the entire landscape of his corner of the Marvel Universe has been changed in the wake of the ‘Death of the Mighty Thor’ arc in MIGHTY THOR. But there’s still a War of the Realms raging, and Thor isn’t looking to stand on the sidelines.”

Polygon belongs to Vox Media.
And in case you haven't noticed, nearly all these companies don't operate on actual profit-loss principles but work with regular venture capital injections to finance themselves. Their value lies in being shill rags (Vox/Polygon is a shill outfit for Microsoft for example), in pushing ideological narratives and waging PR warfare (e.g. Valleywag/Gawker).

Cosmic Ghost Rider is the worst incarnation of Frank …ever. I hope this fails.

Cosmic Ghost Rider is The Punisher?

Please just reboot it. Casual readers can't be expected to catch up with over 50 years of continuity. Just restart it all, please.

You think they haven't tried? DC tried to with the New 52 and it failed.

Continuity is a meme.

It is the way Big 2 capeshit comics do it. In the hands of a dedicated, consistent team of writers and artists, the idea of a shared continuity universe with multiple events happening concurrently around the fictional world, where deaths and happenings impact books in unexpected and complex ways could be amazing. Instead, it's a goddamned clusterfuck with the creative teams doing this ridiculous game of musical chairs to the tune of executive and corporate fuckery.

Supposedly, but from I've seen he acts more like Deadpool and Deadpool is the kind of character that would lie about being Frank. But then again, since when has consistent characterization mattered at Marvel?

Why? It'd just be the movies then. Or they'd go full CURRENT YEAR and really fuck up some characters.

user, you can't expect the editors to keep track of stuff and have rules to the fictional universe that creative teams have to follow. That would take time away from twittering.

How did it fail?

FROM THE PAGES OF AVENGERS: NO SURRENDER COMES BRUCE BANNER HULK'S FIRST ONGOING SERIES IN OVER THREE YEARS!
THE IMMORTAL HULK #1
Written by Al Ewing
Art by Joe Bennett and Ruy Jose
Cover by Alex Ross
>"When night falls across the Marvel Universe its heroes must be extra vigilant because that’s when the monsters come out; both the human and supernatural kind. This summer though a new monster with incredible strength will lay claim to the night. During the day this savage creature will be chained inside the psyche and fragile physical form of a human, but when the sun goes down the savage and undying brute will run free."

Bruce Banner vs. Weapon H when?

So rather than getting angry, Bruce is a Were-Hulk now?

I think they already did that once before. I seem to recall Moon Knight's run-in with Hulk in his early days being during a period where he was only Hulk at night, drawing parellels to Moon Knight's very first appearance in Werewolf-By-Night.

They did that for a while with the grey Hulk. I think they tried it very early on in the Hulk, too.

It failed the same all DC reboots fail: they introduced a continuity worse than the last one.

ffs stick with what works someone pisses off Bruce, Bruce hulks out, Hulk goes ape slag on the person that pissed off Bruce.

RICH JOHNSON CORRECTLY PREDICTS THAT TA-NEHISI COATES WILL BE THE NEW WRITER OF CAPTAIN AMERICA, AND ALSO #1'S RELEASE DATE - THE FOURTH OF JULY!

>" I have my share of strong opinions about the world. But one reason why I chose the practice of opinion journalism—which is to say a mix of reporting and opinion—is because understanding how those opinions fit in with the perspectives of others has always been more interesting to me than repeatedly restating my own. Writing is about questions for me—not answers. And Captain America, the embodiment of a kind of Lincolnesque optimism, poses a direct question for me: Why would anyone believe in The Dream? What is exciting here is not some didactic act of putting my words in Captain America’s head, but attempting to put Captain America’s words in my head. What is exciting is the possibility of exploration, of avoiding the repetition of a voice I’ve tired of."

And from the same creative team comes the second story of FCBD 2018 AVENGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA, out on May 5!

YET ANOTHER RICH THE LEECH PREDICTION COMES TRUE!
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1
Written by Nick Spencer
Art and cover by Ryan Ottley, Cliff Rathburn, and Laura Martin
On sale this late June (most likely the 27th because there's #801, Dan Slott's final issue of his run)

And finally the FCBD 2018 INFINITY WATCH/AMAZING SPIDER-MAN issue has one name within the creative teams revealed: SPENCER himself!

I really don't think so, no.

From the author of "We Wuz Kangz":
We Wuz Capn Amurkah!

Just when you thought Marvel had actually learned something…
They're still as dumb as ever and this comic will be a giant steaming pile of shit that may ruin cap for the next year, at least.

I read a blog of his accepting the job of writing Captain America, and he couldn't help but virtue signal about how important a bunch of black Marvel writers were to him near the end.

Not reading any of this shit, as they've obviously still learned nothing. Can anyone tell me how bad Avengers: One Gorillion B.C. was?

This bullshit. Supergirl's on-goings got cancelled so technically you're right. Still, it's embarrassing this shit ever existed in the first place.

I'm fairly sure that's just a regular, straight dude with a terribly unfortunate character design. But I could be wrong.

No, Lee Serano is explicitly advertised as being non-binary. That's why xe/xi/xo/xum looks that way.

Oh, uh, I thought that was the nig that's crushing on her. God, what a shitshow. Supergirl was surprisingly low on SocJus infestation when compared to other DC titles like Batgirl, so seeing that is … jarring.

lol, we memed this

lol

Well, Spencer's The Superior Foes of the Spider-Man was a fairly decent book. He will surely be better fit for Spider-Man than he was for Captain America, and book will likely be better than anything Slott churned out. Not that the bar is particularly high or anything.

Bets on Spidernig.

Oh, the FCBD 2018 SPIDER-MAN's creative team is the same too, same with the cover (first pic).

Yeah because there's nothing I admire more in a superhero than curling up in a fetal position instead of fighting the enemy BECAUSE VILLAINS ARE SO SCARY AND I'M LIKE LITERALLY SHAKING

But that was actually a really great character flaw for Jessica Cruz in the early Green Lantern comics. It was never because "The villains were so scary," it was because she was just a scared girl who thought she was way the fuck out of her league and had no idea what to do. Though as much as I liked it, it works a lot better on a characters whose superpowers literally depend on being self-confident.

I tend to gravitate toward heroes that have a stronger resolve, but yeah, I'll admit that Jessica Cruz seems to be more organically written than something Marvel would turn out with. It's probably more that I know their track record and that they'll find some way to make it obnoxious and boring as fuck like they've been doing.

I probably wouldn't trust that character in a solo movie, because Jessica and Muslim-Bro played off each other really well. She wasn't annoying as fuck because in the end, she had a partner that believed in her the whole time, even when she didn't believe in herself. Put that kind of character alone, and it becomes retarded.

I think you're pretty much on the money, yeah. It creates a dynamic, and a talented writer can do a lot with the resulting chemistry.

I still hold my horses that Whor is out completly.

That or they're trying some synchronicity crap with the movie coming out.

...

I'm tired of the big two hiring these gimmick authors.

yeah dude, I love BASED Muslim Green Lantern!

underrated post

Lightning Bug

Things at Marvel will not change for the better until …

*They clean house. Give Spencer, Slott, Antos, Coates, Rivera and any other petty, bigoted scumbag there the boot and replace them with Artists and writers that actually have talent.

*Make the female characters look like females again.

*stop taking advice from Tumblr and Twitter

Until then don't buy into any of Marvel's hype

That's fucking retarded. Each ring has how many hundreds of billions of lifeforms to pick from, why the fuck would it go with some "she actually DOES have great willpower, deep down, even though her actions show a demonstrable lack of willpower!" morale job?

It won't change until fans actually stop buying this dreck instead of always giving Marvel another chance for stupid reasons.

The whole merry-go-round is fucking retarded. Take a step back and realize that all the best comics were written decades ago and unless you've already read all of them, you may as well read that stuff instead of Current Year Capeshit, all of which either sucks and/or is produced by leftists who want you dead in real life

Even taking the last five years of "SJW" stuff out of the equation, understand that Marvel has been declining in every way for DECADES now. They haven't listened to fans or truly revitalized the industry (let alone done anything innovative, different, or truly great) in DECADES. They didn't listen to fan or market response in the '90s, when they were losing 100,000s of fans and customers per month. Why would they listen now? They've NEVER listened, even when objectively better, smarter, and fairer people were in charge.

For shits and giggles or if she ever gets over it; she has a good chance of being powerful.

Haven't their comics and events been dying quicker and quicker?

It's a different take on a Green Lantern. The ring chose her because her anxiety is so awful that even going outside of the house requires "Defeat Galactus" levels of of willpower. They're basically done with that aspect of her, because it would get annoying to have it happen for so fucking long, but it was interesting while they did it.

I find this conceptually appealing even though I realize the underlying reason it was done was garbage.

That's the stupidest bit of Tumblr logic I've heard all week.

I think he's exaggerating it a bit with the "Defeat Galactus" thing, but I can see the ring choosing her as a long term investment. Think about it, if you give the ring to someone like Jessica, who is an emotional wreck, they'll either crack under the pressure or they'll come out polished on the other side. Speaking purely pragmatically, what's the worst that could theoretically happen if one of the lanterns out there isn't cut out for it? They either resign or are killed in duty, and you assign someone else. If they make it through it all, you potentially have a lantern who has had their willpower refined and cultivated into something potentially powerful, simply because they had a lot to grow through.

It's a much better and logical extension of the Green Lantern mythos than suddenly deciding there is a rainbow coalition of rings of other emotions.

No, dude, it's just stupid. The ring doesn't select fragile minds that need to be taught to exercise will. It chooses the honest and the fearless.

Those are just two different flavors of dumb crap.

FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, DOCTOR STRANGE GOES ON AN INTERGALACTIC JOURNEY!
DOCTOR STRANGE #1

On sale 6/6/18

Addendum: The Life of Captain Marvel will be a five-issue miniseries.

...

Let me guess, you hate Diaz as well because no real Lantern would ever have to deal with the psychological fear of his ring crapping out on him since Green Lanterns aren't supposed to fear things.

They're not supposed to be fearless, they're supposed to be able to overcome fear.

I like this concept but I fear for its execution
Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be like Adam Strange with magic

I think it has lot of potential.
Every magical mumbo-jumbo on Earth is a pretty old concept. Placing some myths, magic blabla and other stuff on some of the established planets/worlds would be welcomed. I know, DC did it first

Dr. Strange in space isn't a bad idea in itself, but I have very low hopes since it's Mark Waid. I don't recall particularly liking anything he ever did except Kingdom Come, certainly not in recent years.

...

Because it makes a way the fuck more interesting story to have a character whose character flaws directly affect their ability to accomplish their goals vs a character who is the protagonist due to a lack of character flaws.

TONY WILL GO BACK TO HIS CLASSIC ROOT, THEY SAID!
TONY STARK: IRON MAN #1
Written by Dan Slott (Amazing Spider-Man)
Art by Valerio Schiti (Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel 2-in-One)
Cover by Alexander Lozano

Did they ever made any of those canon? Or this is just a case of "let's draw Stark with (((Downey Jr)))'s face and his armors like any from the movies for no reason at all"?

What the fuck is that even supposed to mean?

It means Stark will do a PICKLE RICK number sometime.

...

I cannot think of a worse way to pitch something than this combination of words.

That any Iron Man comics fans will off themselves and the people who enjoy such a thing will off themselves when a new run ends up somewhere between Evangelion and Kamen Rider.

The fuck's Black Mirror?

No, this can only mean one thing; Tony's teaming up with an old friend.

A Sci-fi anthology on Netflix about the potential horrors of technology. It's pretty good.

That I would like to see

Isn't that the one that had an episode that shat on classic Trek (luckily Netflix UK also carries Discovery, goys) and sex bots (racists might spend thousands on a brown-coloured appliance, then """rape""" it. The BBC are legitimately concerned about this) all in one go. Written by Charlie Brooker, too. That cunt's as desperate as, well, Marvel, these days.

Not to my knowledge, but I haven' seen the newest season. Even then, each episode is done by entirely different people, so it doesn't even matter if you didn't agree with one episode, since the next is going to have absolutely no relation.

Twilight Zone for millenials.

Black Mirror is some limey faggot's show that was supposed to be kinda Twilight Zone but with the near future and advances in technology, but every episode has some awful twist, the storylines are full of poz, the writers are total faggots, none of them actually understand technology, and they have a moronic obsession with social media and reality tv shows.

It's pretty shit is what it is. Doesn't matter that each episode is a stand-alone plot if they're all retarded, poorly conceived trainwrecks with slightly above average production values.

These people are so dumb they think what you see on tv is real.

Marvel just announced that Sentry is being brought back, and new series will be written by Lemire.
It looks like at least of the damage done to him by Bendis is going to be undone.

Lemire's Black Hammer is pretty good, but I can't give a fuck about Sentry.

I'll check that out. I also liked his graphic novel, Underwater Welder.

Why? Isn't the dyke supposed to be Marvels Superman now?

We all saw what Slott did to web head, no way anything good will come from him handling Stark.

I'm talking about one of the errors that user made.

They really should have done with back when Bendis tried to replace Strange with Brother Voodoo. If Strange basically said "I'm going be away from Earth for a while, find me an interim Sorcerer Supreme" instead of being dead people would actually give a damn.

How many years has it been?

Apparently, Henderson is leaving Squirrel Girl.

Red Skull Jr. and the autistic girl were the only good new characters in Young Avengers. Everyone else was either annoying or boring.

He died in a shitty 2012 mini-series made to capitalize on the Hunger Games trend without any idea of what made the Hunger Games appealing to anyone.

So, about six years. Two years after Sentry bit the bullet. Maybe Mettle will come back in another two?

I just remember 2012 as the year comics starting going to shit to me.

At this point does anybody care what they fucking do anymore? I don't even buy DC because of all the shit they pulled after nu52 and their still shitty attempt at repairing damage done with rebirth.

I really miss "Avengers: Earths Mightest Heroes"
I never cared for spectacular spider-man, but i've been told it was good. I grew up with the 90's show though.

Do you think the market crash of the 90s was the first step to its death?

Batman 89 was the first big Comic movie to be successful. Was the movie industry to blame?

Why is everyone so shit now at their jobs. I will take 90's comics with exaggerated CHROME BODIES over most of the art now.

Attached: 1464406493957-0.jpg (762x1049, 378.97K)

I would be embarrassed to show anyone that art as anything other than a concept sketch to get approval to do actual art. What a goddamn mess.

What happened to underground comics? I know things are mainly digital now. Like that donald trump manga. but I've read a lot of digital copies of r.crumbs work. That was all "INDIE." But no way would "image" publish something so scandalous now. Are there smaller alternative companies?

But All the "indie" stuff now is mostly pozzed.
Most underground comics seemed to mainly be mature or adult material even if it wasn't directly pornographic. Thoughts on this?

What type of faggot calls thrm underground?

What kind of faggot doesn't think underground comics are a thing? Millennial and/or casual detected.

Most of them died off with the collapse of the 80's black and white indie boom. They were definitely a separate scene to the indies- indies always tried to duplicate the Big Two, more cape books, just usually a little edgier, imitation Metal Hurlant SF and fantasy, and a lot of furries, back when we used to call them "funny animals". The true undergrounds, the counter-culture of the 60's and 70's, sexually explicit, politically charged, and vehemently against everything DC and Marvel, was collateral damage when the bubble burst.
There's still the minicomic and Zine scenes, they carry on some of the momentum of that voice of dissent, but they come from a more Punk sensibility, just an angry kid with a Xerox. Undergrounds were usually more like a handful of college age stoners with a printing press. I wish there was an equivalent Webcomic movement, but all we get is Calarts pozzle and porn, and the porn is the best part.

Let's be real here. If Spain was publishing Trashman right now, fags like you would think it was disgusting pozzy wozzy doodle all the day.

Attached: Trashman.jpg (420x501, 93.53K)

No. The first step was probably the comic code. It turned comics from a medium with diverse stories for many demographics into 80% capes and kid oriented medium. Doing something like that to any medium is bound to cripple it in the long term.

You forgot about Superman films. And I doubt that movie industry is to blame. For some reason comics, unlike books, do not get a boost in popularity when they are adapted. Besides, currently Disney, WBs, and Fox are the ones helping to keep comic publishers afloat.

Cronyism and limited opportunities to make decent money.

Nowadays, an anarcho comic about killing cops and having sex with women isn't edgy or subversive, it's the same thing they do on all the late night talk shows and Nick shows.

I apologize but I am unaware as to what trashman id. Looks like a leftist spanish punisher.
I've only been exposed to american stuff.

You've missed the point of 's comment. Indie comics used to present unpopular ideas considered unacceptable at the time, but now they present the same ideas as the mainstream comics now. He's correct.

I'll explain, killing cops isn't edgy anymore since that concept is so prevalent in multimillion dollar franchises like GTA. What would be edgy now is if cops killed bad minorities without due process. That's why the Death Wish reboot was criticized recently.

Didn't R. Crumb have a lot of racist comics though? Maybe we need either balls to the walls racial comics.

Or we just need like a comic adaptation of something like turner diaries. I merely want to see people pissed off.

Or maybe we need a Donald Trump comic about maybe Trump is like Stark?

Attached: 1442676442572.jpg (665x1184, 66.71K)

Yeah, they were commissioned though.
Hot damn, any publisher who releases that adaptation should be a salt miner instead. The only thing closest to it was the Angel Cop maanga. It would be pretty interesting to see something like that, but I hope it's not a monkey's paw.

What am I looking at?

Depends on your definition of "alternative". Off the top of my head, there's Drawn and Quarterly, Adhouse Books, Alternative Comics (yes there's a publisher that goes by that name). Top Shelf probably counts, but they're an imprint of IDW now.

Only racist in that early SJWs of the screaming-indignant type would go ballistic about it. He obviously loves black music and fetishises black women, he's just brutally honest about exploring his own neuroses and sexuality with no filter.

I uploaded it to the Holla Forums vola. Educate yourself, oppressor of the proletariat.

He did those for two reasons: the first, his contact with S. Clay Wilson made him change from doing comics as entertainment to doing comics as an open, uncensored form of self-expression.

The second was the hatred he had for his hippie fans.
