Am I the only one who never got the hype about quake? Yes I understand it invented it's genre but UT embarrassed it all day every day, the series was dead after q4 when it was obvious they would never be on the level of ut2004

Terminator Future Shock was much more revolutionary than Quake. Quake still uses that iron sight guns in the middle of the screen while Future Shock has already got everything modern shooters has despite being a year older, including crouching and dedicated grenade button.

I think he means that you aim by looking at the gun instead of a crosshair, like Doom. The crosshair is disabled by default in the original DOS version.

What you are posting is not ironsights, it's the weapon model to show what weapon you have equip. It was also in the center so you can better aim with it without crosshairs in the center of the screen. Guns were placed on the side to show off weapon animations better and gave you the perception of the player character rather then the gun.

You should have made it more clearer in your post.
