I've been sort of rewatching GoT for a bit and hot damn, it turns out it was always trash. From the very first season. How did I ever enjoy it? Did I even?

We were reddit. I read the books before the tv series and used to think that well, the show may be shit but the first 3 books are still good. Right? Then I went back to them and realized they are just reddit-tier cliffhanger based pulp fiction. Like wew, you read about the Wars of the Roses, well fucking done, GURRM. In that long ass time the fat fuck was taking a break from farting out another opus I got into classics, understood what real literature is, developed a taste and outgrew him intellectually - doesn't take much. And as I did, I also realized that the fantasy genre is absolute and utter trash, and nobody after Tolkien have ever made anything even worth consideration or at least improved on his formula.
It's a natural process, really.

The true epiphany comes when you realize the books are basically bodice rippers masquerading as fantasy novels.

I read the first 3 books too and it was a pretty difficult read. Long and convoluted. After reading it I didn't get why the series seemed as popular as it was and they say the books are supposed to be better than the series. It was ok and had its moments but far from as good as it was hyped to be. I preferred the novellas of Tales of Dunk & Egg. Shorter and more focused. Overall, all the time I spent reading ASOIAF I now wish I read some actually good literature.

The hobbits don’t get a victorious homecoming. The shire is in ruins. Frodo is so fucked up he goes beyond the sea, which is more or less death.

The Elves are leaving middle-earth and the destruction of the one ring means the end of the power of the other three, so that the power to slow the changing of the world is gone. Arwen is destined to die alone in the diminishing forests long after Aragorn’s death.

Tolkien didn’t necessarily view the death of Sauron and leaving of the Elves as an equal trade. The Elves were the source of all goodness and so leaving men to their own devices meant despite the lack of a dark lord, shit was going to get worse. Tolkien’s sequel to LOTR was so bleak he stopped writing it.

The theme that runs through Tolkien's books is that of the long defeat, the diminishing of the good. The only triumph possible over this is in a Christian sense, a triumph of the spirit in the face of adversity.

I think this excerpt encapsulates what LotR is about:

"Standing there for a moment filled with dread Frodo became aware that a light was shining; he saw it glowing on Sam's face beside him. Yeah, the entire point of the ending was that they could never truly return home. Which is why it was such a shame the film changed that.

Those niggers enabled Sauron and made his blings to begin with. When they realized Sauron is the bad guy, they refused to destroy the rings. It's their fault that men and dwarves became corrupt and the whole plot of LotR is also their fault. Then once their blings lose the magic powers, they throw a bitchfit and finally fuck off to their magic island, all while virtue signalling that in their endless generosity and mercy, they finally allow the men to inherit Middle Earth.

Nigger what? Only the men who had contact with the Elves were not evil. If you mean the rings, the kings refused to take them off. The Elves stopped using their rings the second Sauron put on the one ring.

Dwarves were naturally resilient to the rings to the point that Sauron wanted to get them back from them and redistribute them. It made them slightly more greedy and isolationist, but didn’t put them under his control. When Aule created the Dwarves he made them very difficult to corrupt.
