No it legitimately isn't and the picture looks immensely better than bluray and like the original print you would see in theaters except better in some cases because the coloring can look better.

Wrong, unless you're paying big bucks for your PC monitor. PC monitors use a lot of tricks and inferior technology. Most only 6-bit color channels and alternate the color at very high speeds to create the illusion of having deeper color channels.

I think kinos ought to be events and not trivialised into losing their meaning like so much entertainment is these days. It's kind of how you can listen to an audiobook while working out but the texts you really care about you want to make reading into a ritual of some sort. I can't imagine A Field in England or Blade Runner 2049 being half as good if you just pirated or bought them and watched them at home even if you have an expensive ass setup. I wouldn't care nearly as much for Tarkovsky if I didn't see his kinos almost in the manner of a pilgrim during my travels.
