So the porkies have finally lost all sanity then.
Holy fuck, how can anyone who lived through the Cold War circlejerk about the superiority of "our" nukes to "their" nukes?

Economic collapse, climate change, nuclear war… Can they finally fucking decide how we will kill ourselves as a species? It's like we're in a fucking shopping store of apocalypse, overwhelmed by all the choices. "Oh, you haven't even seen our new catalogue for the 2017 collection!" Let's just pick one already and be done with it.
What are you, a pleb?
At least for the end of human species I want a single "grant narrative" in which we can collectively position ourselves instead of this postmodernist political collages that we have now.

They are already undead beings who live like god-kings, why would they risk nuclear obliteration to give up even an ounce of their power and station?
to gain more power and station by putting the americans/russians/chinese in their place
WSWS was right again
Just wait til Hillary wins it.
Because one of the central pillars of bourgeois ideology is not only the expectation of regularity but its necessity in assuring the uninterrupted flow of profit. Competition threatens that regularity, especially when you have different national interests at play, where accessing those markets requires appeasing those interests, which in the ideology of capitalism is unacceptable because it means diminished profit for the capitalist.
You see this kind of thing all the time with the US, any time a small, especially Latin American, nation does something that impedes wealth accumulation by a US concern. Guatemala is a good example. The US undermined, dismantled, and overthrew a progressive liberal government and caused over 30 years of subsequent, genocidal civil war just because the United Fruit Company didn't want to pay taxes on its tremendous profits.
Large impediments to profitability are just as disdainful as small ones. Russia and China represent large, competing economic blocs that not only offer an alternative, but in some cases outright oppose Western/American economic interests. They're some of the few countries both large and strong enough to resist American hegemony, and the only logical action for capitalism is to knock them down, divide them up, and make them compliant.
The fact that the people making these decisions already live in the lap of luxury beyond description is irrelevant. Luxury, comfort, even power aren't the ends of capitalism, but profit. Anything that impedes that profit must be removed, whatever the means/cost.
As in, Amy.
We're at DEFCON 4 right now
