It's a show of solidarity, and it shows the police and Finnish government that they can't do this shit unnoticed. It'll spread awareness and give rise to support from people who we don't normally interact with. It's the same principle as the group demonstrating publicly, but on a more global scale. The actual issue on whether or not NMR will be banned, will be settled in court.

A petition isn't going to do jack shit, if a police chief started this and the courts accepted the complaint, it's in the hands of the government already. The complainant has no say in the matter at this point even if he withdraws, its up to the government to decide. Yeah, I know that many Finns have Swedish-derived surnames, and that the two nations have had an intertwined history and genetic legacy. I also know that the Swedish language is influential in Finland. Still, I maintain that Finns (and especially the Finnish language) are more different from Sweden than the Norwegians are, for instance.

I'd rather not see all the unique cultures and languages of Europe dissolved into a small handful of conglomerates, but at the end of the day, I suppose we must accept what works. It seems the British Isles would go to shit without English domination, and if the best way to save Finland is broadly-Northern-European movement, then that must be what we go with.

Nordic Resistance Movement wants a Northern European Federation with common borders and one government. That is not ethn-onationalism. As a Finn I can't even understand what the rest of them are saying. Also, our police are mainly based. There's some middle aged women in the media department who have done a few "anti-hate speech" videos that backfired. The cops that deal with the immigrants on a day to day basis know what's going on. In 2012 the Helsinki police released crime statistics proving that immigrants are way over represented in rapes and assaults. The immigration minister at the time had a massive cunt rage about it saying she was the one in charge of immigration matters and they should not have gone solo.

Personally I doubt they would ban NRM, but even if they do, they're only banning the loud skinheads. The Finns Party is still in the government and they're getting a new chairman this summer. It's quite likely that the leader of the party's anti-immigration wing will win and the party will be taken to a more strict anti-immigration direction.

To add to that, the Helsinki Police released the statistics on Helsingin Sanomat, the largest newspaper in the country (at the time at least). They didn't just quietly put them on their website. They bought a page.

I don't want to share the same borders with Sweden. The NRM folks came to Helsinki on our independence day and did a march with their own flags. On the day celebrating our independence. I want Finland to stay independent. My great granddads didn't fight for a Northern European Federation. They fought for a sovereign Finland.
