There used to be, back in the olden days there was a healthy community called Ninja Hacker built around making costumes for characters in DOA3 on the xbox. They got a nude patch working for DOAX volleyball working in no time.

And anything made for Skyrim using official tools is the property of Bethesda as per the EULA. They have the right to redistribute your mods without your consent or giving you credit. This is why the OpenMW project is spending so much time building their own construction set. They aren't allowed to show any original game assets or mods made with the official construction set running on Android for legal reasons.

So Bethesda really doesn't give a shit what modders on PC think. They'll take their work, clean it up a little and resell it to console players. If the PC modding community doesn't like they can go pound sand, they were offered a chance to monetize their work and rejected it.

There's other ways to fuck with their games though. You should be able to do a simple IsConsole check, and if it returns true - then have the skybox textures replaced with hardcore gay porn - or make a model of a floppy penis like Schlongs of Skyrim and attach it permanently to the player character's face. Or have it rain horse cocks. And then write it in such a way that the script fragment is saved to the save game - and put a countdown timer on it. Or maybe see if there's a way you could delete or corrupt all of their previous save games through papyrus so that they're stuck with it.

After installing, it should auto save and cause the player to permanently take a lot more damage and deal a lot less.Don't do anything too noticeable, but ruin shit behind the scenes. That way their save gets fucked before they know it. All their autosaves will be ruined before they realize the mod is causing the problems.

You can't permanently add textures, because they are removed when the mod is. You should be able to permanently change variables as well as spawn permanent npcs. They could spawn a bandit hidden in every town and make them essential and make all npc's mortal. That way the bandit will eventually kill everyone in town unless they find a way to lock the bandit up.

Probably not a trainwreck or at least not as bad as FO4.

Suggestion:

At one point I was messing with mods and it kept crashing at random times, but I couldn't figure out why. Finally after spending 10 hours going through every mod and a saved spot where I knew it would crash I realized it was from an arrow replacer mod:

A level listed arrow that only appears occasionally didn't have textures or models, so when the NPC draws out a bow and his level listed arrows, one two crash to desktop.

Subtle, insidious and annoying as fuck.

The thing about that is, you remove the mod, you remove the problem. The thing about changes to variables or spawned enemies that already exist in the base game, is that they will continue to exist without the mod. The only way to undo the damage with the console commands.

You can make a mod that causes the player to spread a very slow damaging debuff to everyone around him and I think disabling the mod wouldn't get rid of the debuff on the npcs.

Also, you can force kill npcs. Just make it would it kills npcs that are a certain distance away so that the player wouldn't notice until he autosaved a few times.

that depends on the debuff, if you make the player spread radiation poisoning it would work, but if the debuff is from the mod, it's removed with the mod
Basically, it needs to be a vanilla debuff, even though you could meke your mod requiring another mod wich have a debuff, then it would work

I think its fucking hilarious that they're giving it for free on PC because they know that there's a million mods that do it better than them and trying to sell it would be completely pointless on the PC.

One key idea is this: Morrowind's new scripting engine absolutely cannot fucking handle itself. Scripts added by mods are started and then never stop, scripts can drag can drag down game performance to shit all by themselves, and the game absolutely freaks the fuck out if a script tries to do something that it can't. All of this is very, very exploitable.
