I got it for free, I haven't touched it since before the first DLC, and could never play it for more than 20 minutes. The quests were just pointers to different levels where the goal is "Kill enemies, collect item/shit dialogue sequence", It replaced roleplay mechanics with action story experience, but the characters were so acted out and the story is some Doctor-Soap Micheal Bay Frankenshit.

I cheated to get some laser rifle mods and just run around blasting shit, and I'm still left thinking "this gunplay could be a lot better".

The only issue I had with 1 was waiting 5 minutes before I started enjoying it. I never got around to playing 2, which brings me to the only real point of this thread: How was 2 compared to 1?

Reminder that Bethesda had everything they needed to make Fallout 4 their redemption, and threw it all away.

They made genuine improvements over 3 to combat and gunplay (not that it's hard to be better than 3), then fucked that over with horrendous balance and AI on enemies. Most enemies are incredibly easy to cheese, to the point of it frequently happening accidentally. And it's utterly impossible to both remove the excessive bullet-sponginess of powerful enemies, yet keep raiders and the like non-trivial.

The power armour was made into actual satisfying power armour, but they ruined that with how you get it. You get it too early, and the fixed spawn locations scale with level - i.e. you have to plan out where you will explore at what level in order to actually get different types.

The base-building could have been great, if it weren't poorly implemented in every way and INTEGRALLY TIED TO A STORY FACTION. The lead NPC of that faction complains when you collect the material to build his own base. The enemies during attacks spawn within the settlement, making any sort of defense entirely useless since things like "choke points" or "walls" have no impact.

The weapon customization was so close to being great. Pic related. But they cut it all in favour of a system only slightly less linear than everything else in the game. And the weapon diversity is abysmal, using the excuse that customization makes up for it. It does not.

The decision to do what they did with the synths is mystifying. Of all the interesting and compelling stories you could with machines near-indistinguishable from humans, Bethesda chose exactly none.

I alternate between being so utterly apathetic about this game that I forget it exists, and being inordinately frustrated at how thoroughly and uniformly they squandered the potential of everything they did.

Fallout 4 is a shit game, made by a company that is literally 95% dead husk used by financiers to milk the retards with subpar products and bolster support for their mediocre games by having a strong online presence and shilling.

So, no I didn't pick either of those fucks. I didn't play FO4, I didn't even pirate that shit. The game isn't worth the time and there are more than enough great games out that I can choose to play instead.

Fallout 4 is a solid action game. I enjoyed it.
I loved both 1 & 2 (and Vegas), but the Fallout RPG series is dead.
Fallout 4 is more an action-exploration title like Far Cry.
The thing wrong with Fallout 3 was it failed both at being an action game and an RPG (both in story and in mechanics).

Fallout 4's story was complete garbage, it's poorly optimised, the weapon variety is pathetic (same issue with all games in the series except NV, though), two of their three FO4 DLCs are borderline falsely advertised in terms of depth of content, and lastly most of the actual new additions to the series are better left ignored… but it's impossible to fuck up vaporising zombies and robots with a plasma rifle. The Survival mode even makes the easy vanilla game genuinely challenging (and sometimes just maddening when you die instantly from sprinting into a junk prop).

Can we talk about other fallout stuff?

Been playing the DH Fallout mod, this shit is fucking amazing, its come so far since i played it years ago, i managed to save USA remnants after a few attempts, caved in and gave a push to the USA and now fortifying the borders and preparing for the great rush,.

I feel like we may be waiting a while for anything satisfying. NV mods sort of had it, preg and TF included, but it was never really fully implemented or debugged.
I suspect many modders may stick to Skyrim for that sort of thing.

is correct. There are very few mods for Bethesda games that allow male characters with female creatures; it's usually the other way around.
The mod in this case is the now-defunct Fallout Breeder, where the (female only) player gets captured by deathclaws and used as a breeding slave. After a while, you are so successful that you end up as the alpha female of the pack. As you gain control, you also develop mutations such as a tail, horns, and powerful claws. As the mod goes on you infiltrate and conquer a small town, keeping all the females and breeding slaves. Last I saw development had stalled/been abandoned at the takeover of Novac and Nipton.
