very well, here's a complete piece of shit 90s kickboxing movie I like for I have no reason why, starring Billy Blanks for Tae bo fame, and a very bored Bolo Yeung. The martial arts in it is sloppy, but sometimes with good stunts although they didn't bother cropping out the trampolines and mattresses the stunt people use. The overall theme is a cheap cyber punk larp somehow trying to be the Terminator, Blade Runner, Clockwork Orange, Mad Max, Escape From New York, the Warriors, and any other dystopian science fiction movie done with a bunch of shit they probably pulled out of their garages. The plot makes no sense. You do have to give credit to Billy Blanks who gave his all in his performance, and does some impressive acrobatics in the badly shot badly choreographed fights. As shitty as it is it has a weird sorta charm. You can find TC2000 all over youtube. Nobody cares about the copyright for this piece of shit. Enjoy.

The Ancient Magus Bride is a supernatural action series about an ancient skeleton mage with autism who buys a 16 year old girl in a slave auction to become his wife. Also of note, Tit-ania is a lovely sight to behold. Surprisingly it's my girlfriend's favorite show of the season.

I've been looking for more shows to add to my "favorite anime mosaic". I wanted to add Black Clover, but after having watched a few episodes it's the most generic, derivative shonen series I've ever seen. And it's only a few episodes in and already half the series is filler. Filler to an extent I didn't think possible. The second episode was literally just the first episode all over again with a four minute flashback of information we already knew.

But I finally got around to watching Ryu Knight, and that shit is fantastic. Cutesy mechs in outfits like giant cowboy hats and jiggling 90's anime tiddies everywhere.

Oh, and there's this other series I forget the name of I haven't gotten around to watching yet that a lot of people are raving about. An old man is walking his dog in the park, a UFO is traveling between dimensions and accidentally runs him and a teenage boy over. They repair the damage, but irresponsibly use weapon systems to do so, so they're both repaired with robotic bodies covered in all kinds of lasers and missile launchers. The old man uses his newfound powers to fight gangs, muggers and the Yakuza, the teenage boy becomes a sociopath and goes around murdering families and torturing people. Not really my cup of tea, but everybody else seems to like it.

There's a huge range of visual variance in anime, and a lot of animators do have specialized skills and personal quirks. Yutaka Nakamura for example is very famous for his fight animation, and Ryouma Ebata has a such a distinctive way of moving his characters that even I can spot his work. Animators don't decide look of a show though. The director, character designer, animation director, art director, color designer and director of photography do.

The animation director (usually the same person as the character designer) creates general guidelines for animation and checks and corrects the animators' work so it looks the way it's supposed to. Animators are expected to draw any kind of design, and if they don't get it exactly right the animation director is still there to correct it.

And second is to argue wether is it "mature" or not. You are doing the former. The other guy is doing the latter.
You are incapable of proving to him that anime is "mature" aka "not for kids" because it is extremely vague buzzword.
Any possible proof from your side will be always met with constant denying. It is like arguing whether something is "good".
The only way to win is to define what is "good" or what is "mature" with binary criteria. Aka clear definition which any anime either fit or does not, as in yes or no. Kemono Friends started as an obscure late night anime and quickly turned into a huge mainstream hit. Girls und Panzer turned the town of Ouarai into a tourist destination and officially collaborates with them on events. There are countless examples of mainstream promotional campaigns, business collaborations and product tie-ins associated with anime. The entire industry is worth over $17 billion.
