this is the setup for low production, 1 tree of each kind every day assuming it takes 1 week for a tree to go through its lifecycle
each tree has 8 tiles around it to allow either the tree to replant itself if you miss to harvest a sprout or to ramp up production by planting a tree in it

A "freshly sown" field, one that has had seeds just put into it, never requires tending until it advances to the next stage in its life cycle. You cannot select the Farm option on a freshly sown field.

That's why you build a cart, get some animals, go load the fucker up with trees from elsewhere and bring them back to town. When great lumber cities run out of trees IRL they don't just move the town, they use their knowledge of woodworking to process trees from elsewhere. In time it may be a natural occurrence that someone will set up a logging outpost off in the distance somewhere and that may become it's own mini-city but right now there's no need or point, it would be wasteful to drop Brosmouth and move on.

Timber framed houses use more wood than wooden ones do, so all you're left with is stone which is a pain in the ass to make if you're just starting out since you would need to level both carpentry and masonry to make anything. Also the materials are heavy as shit so you need a cart if you want to get anywhere with it within the next century.

for example there are a ton of masons, i obviously don't want to become yet another mason. however, i want to be independent enough to build what needs to be built for my own house (this is all hypothetical of course, i don't have the game). I think I found out why it's down. The server is generating a massive screenshot of the entire area.

wood walls use 20 planks, which are 2kg each but making a plank also makes 2kg wood scrap which is pretty much wasted or just used as firewood. You need 80kg of logs to make a wall and half of that goes to waste, while timber needs 86.25kg of logs, of which none gets turned into scrap.

That's generally what it's been called. Did that change the last few days? Hadn't noticed.

It takes 3.3 logs per wooden wall, while timber framed takes a MINIMUM of 3.6 if you're abusing a BSB, otherwise it takes 5 logs per wall. Even if you count half of each log for timber wasted, you still had to use up more lumber for the timber framed house, and you don't even get a byproduct which can be used as fuel out of it.

For 20 planks you're using up 80wgt of wood. 40wgt of planks, 40wgt of woodscrap which can be burned.
For 5 wooden beams you're using 86.25wgt of wood and you don't even get the woodscrap to burn. It's all consumed for the wall.
It's absolutely less resource efficient in every way.

It's nearly 10% material, not including the mountain of clay you need as well. That's not insignificant when people are bitching non-stop about the wood shortage.

It's a big game with a lot of skills, but in place of actual content and in-depth progression and development there's just countless hours of grinding in order to do every little thing.

In reality, the progression needs to be 8-12x normal and some of the resource requirements need to be lowered.

Smith is pretty high demand because everybody needs metal shit for every other occupation.

If you go smith you're gonna be in front of an anvil for 6 hours if you're lucky. So, if you're the type of person that wants to help their neighbors by all means go smith. But if you want to smithing for yourself to get some cool armor and weapons you're better off just asking myself kriegerr, Burzan, Soab, or Middry for help.

Priests can't do anything themselves basically.

You can't build, you can't improve, you can't destroy. Depending on your deity you can either mine, dig or cut trees but they're exclusive skills.

Meaning if your diety allows digging you can't mine or cut trees.

Priests need a solid, pre-existing foundation to be playable. And the server 'rollback' fucked that up.

We have several people going White Light priest, they can not be part of Hots, and with White light, we get 3 different gods that nicely complement each other, with Hots we get Libilla, which has some nice skills, but none that we can use as much as Vynoras tool buffs or Fo's heals.

If the character data is still saved, there won't be any kingdom changes.

I wanted to build bridge-based highways that went OVER brosmouth with offramps. That concept is actually viable and it does work.

And not only that, it'd actually look good as opposed to the flat grid that every other person defaults to for their road system.

Whatever you do, build the new town as a grid city, we should also come up with a set of rules like this guy's 1 tile gap before the road like says
