Uncharted 4

why does no one here ever talk about this game

nice meme

This is a video game board, why would we talk about movies?

what is there to talk about?

we had threads about the strong indepedent black woman who don't need no man who beat up the main character and the other guy, and at least one thread about the crash bandicoot game inside the one of the games.

its just a cover shooter, whats so great about it? this series and TLOU seem like they have unremarkable gameplay.

Lots of things. For example:
What did you guys think of the soundtrack?

Because it's already been talked about and there's nothing left to say that has already been said. It's Metal Gear Solid 4 but with QTE with no way to fail climbing segments.

Sage because this thread is unnecessary.

never saw whats the appeal of this crap other than the graphics that only look impressive to consolekids

because nothing that happened in the OP webm could possibly have been controlled by the player right? And it's not like Uncharted has a ultra-fast-paced competitive multiplayer system or anything.

these guys were never good. Rich is only good for when he's being bullied

Because every Dude Raider game is exactly the same.

...

you just.. press a fucking button and it automatically shoots the nearest enemy? That's it?

for a game with a cover system it doesn't get much faster than this

...

Does anyone have that video explaining why Uncharted just pretends to be a game, constantly changing rules of the game to make sure you go along a preset narrative while trying to give you the illusion that you have an actual impact on what's going on. That's why reviewers love the game, because all you have to do is push buttons to make the movie keep progressing?

Would you fuck off already? Uncharted is cinematic experience trash that is partly responsive for games having less gameplay in them.
It's the driest shit on the planet, fuck off

KILL YOURSELF ALREADY

Yeah, you're right. It doesn't.

Everyone, observe. This is what buyer's remorse looks like. Now point and laugh at him.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHFAGGOTHAHAHAHAHAHA

Because it's shit. Have the webm.

i enjoyed uncharted 1-3 despite them being casual

but uncharted 4 is garb, its padded to shit, full of false gameplay and cutscenes, and zero fucking charm that the other titles had

ND is fucking dead and theres no reason to talk about 4 beyond how much of a drag it is to fucking play

Because a lot of people here are hipsters who don't actually have any criticism of the game and only wanna talk in short memelike semtences as replacement for thoughts. And its not like its hard to criticize uncharted, they are very flawed videogames.

...

...

Nigger dont fucking tell me people in here aren't hipste, a lot of faggots here are the epitome of hipsterism.

...

...

Why do ND games want to be serious interactive movies now instead of fun platformers? Or even goofy interactive movies at least?

The problem with uncharted is that its a very basic TPS, that at least pushes tech well and looks beautiful.

...

They are probably strangled by suits and massively limited in their creative freedom. Think similar to what Microsoft did to Rareware, just not as bad.

so in other words it's a game.

also:

Current Naughty Dog is not the same as original Naughty Dog, they went the way of many other developer names like Bioware, DICE, Bungie, etc. The people working there aren't the people who gave you Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter.

...

nice

see

Now get out faggot

I really liked Uncharted 1-3.
They were fun, simple games and I
never understood why they shouldn't be
considered games.

Other TPS games are very similar in freedom and
complexity.
So what is for example the difference to Max Payne?

That said I never played U4 and I don't plan to do. 3 games are really enough in my opinion.

...

nice

Is that supposed to mean something?

ok, how about this:
name me a single multiplayer cover-shooter that is as fast paced as Uncharted. Or has the player mobility of Uncharted (without resorting to vehicles)

...

...

Cover shooters are slow by definition :)

You stated Uncharted is the Quake 3 of TPS and was proven wrong.

Gears of War

you're the one triyng to fit in with your epic dowboats here

SAGE FOR NOT BEING FAST ENOUGH

I don't really like warframe because its P2W shit but still

You need to go back.

if you know how it works you can stop using it like one to do nothing but show your dislike for the subject matter being discussed

people can talk shit about a game if they want you little retard who can't hide or scroll past threads about games he's not interested in, or doesn't know enough to even talk accurate shit about

just "NO TALKING I DON'T LIKE THIS, STOP I'LL POST PORN STOP"

So it's another Bioshock or Fable, series that were always bad but the latest entry manages to break new ground in shittiness?

sauce?

incredibly accurate, no improvements were made to the formula it had, it only excacerbated its worst aspects

to be fair they did add a pretty decent grapple hook, but overall it's worse, yes

Looks like she's taking a shit

you just posted the answer with that webm, user.

got any aras?

you got something against cover shooters?
in real life people do not stand out in the open and allow themselves to be shot like retards. Taking cover is a real thing. Just look at this webm for an example of a real shootout

Not saying uncharted is realistic, BTW. It's actually video-gamey as fuck. It doesn't try to be anything more than a videogame.

If you're gonna go realistic then you might as well go full ARMA and spend 90% of your time shooting at enemies you can barely see from a mile away.

Otherwise, the problem with cover shooters is that all you do is sit behind cover and line up your camera with enemies in cover and shoot when they exit cover, the primary thing you do in gameplay is literally the same as whack a mole.

Actual shooters have you do stuff like dodge projectiles, line up shots with moving targets, and outmaneuver your enemies rather than just sitting still and spending 5 seconds aiming before you pop out and shoot.

and the health regeneration takes the tension away.

Can't we just go back to health packs? They were in Halo 1 and I don't remember the last CoD/MW to have them.

Yes, any more questions.
Fun fact: games without cover-based mechanics still have cover.
Also, in real life people don't shrug off bullet wounds just by sitting behind a chest high wall, dumbfuck.

what people dont understand about U4 is that it the entire game was designed around making whack-a-mole as ineffective as possible. To be successful you have to move around constantly, even in the single player

There is nothing wrong with regenerating health if you just turn the damage up. Play on crushing and you'll die in a couple bullets or one shotgun blast, and you'll find it to be a lot more tense when you're pinned behind a deteriorating cabinet with no bullets left and people charging at you / grenading you. But the game always provides you with a miraculous means of escape at the last second using the melee combat or the companion AI, like with this guy:
youtu.be/f0I4-ZLPBSU?t=952

Sure tbh fam.

Let's compare the nigress beating the shit out of 2 old dudes to this scene.

Because it’s not a game.

lol kill yourself.

They removed fat drake from the multiplayer, gotta be inclusive, it's 2013 after all.

so tell me what's wrong with it then?
A game with regenerating health can be quite challenging if you simply turn the damage up

It slows down the gameplay and instead of encouraging movement it encourage sitting behind walls.

Goddamn I can't stand these games.

I gave them an honest chance, I really did, but they are just so shitty and annoying to play. I didn't play the third one until a few years after it came out, I have no idea if I'll ever play the fourth one. I own a PS4 but I don't feel like spending money to be pissed off at yet another one of these games.

what the fuck is that it looks terrible

God no, the "low health = hardcore" meme is possibly the most cancerous one to ever plague the FPS. All it does is make it so every gunfight is a question of who sees who first, and when combined with hitscan weapons, strongly encouraged ADS, and slow movement means that the skill ceiling is tiny since the most skilled players will get killed just as much as the least skilled ones because everyone's constantly spawning and running around each other.

This is why COD became popular, because suddenly came a game that appeared to be a hardcore shooter when in reality it was casual enough that anyone could pick it up and get kills.

It's Devil's Turd.

Story behind the webm?

How the fuck was he able to… Did everyone die? I NEED SOME MOTHER FUCKING CONTEXT TO THIS RIDICULOUS SHIT.

Regenerating health actually speeds up gameplay in games like this by always letting players attack with full health. With a regular health system, players would spend time running around collecting medkits and stuff to buff themselves before they try whatever crazy shit they plan to do next. With regenerating health it's just like "fuck it let's go," and you attack, because the only time you *don't* have full health is when you are actively being attacked / were just hit moments ago. It's suitable for the run-and-gun gameplay of Uncharted.

yeah, fuck no

no it doesnt, you fucking faggot, you can play like a fucking retard and regen all that lost health, the game will not punish you
but with limited health packs, if you fuck up to much you will not be able to complete the damn game.

Yes, CoDs and shit are way faster than Quakes and Unreals, it is known.

Why are we getting so many newfags
Did the thing on halfchan where they deleted liru threads bring in that many people?

I think there's a good reason that we don't talk about this game.

Is this the new millennial mindset? This is the retardation that the new generation believes in? Not only is regenerating health the hip, cool thing to do but it's actually the BEST choice for a shooter? The game moves FASTER by letting you sit behind a wall every time you get shot for 15 seconds before trying to kill someone again? How can you even argue against this form of stupidity?

The only thing I know about this game is that the game director made up a story about how a focus tester rejected the game by screaming about how much he hates feminism and female characters in response to being asked just how much he loves Anita Sarkeesian.

I feel like I don't need to know anything else to reject this pile of shit out of hand.

He pulled out a shotgun and started shooting the guys at the booth. One, maybe 2 guys get capped, the other two take cover and try to keep him suppressed with potshots. He jumps over the circular desk into the chair and right next to the dudes, Max Payne style. Gets shot whilst the other guy flees but returns fire, without being able to kill. Runs out of ammo, slumps over as the blood loss starts to override the adrenaline.

He's talking about the pace of the combat, not the pace of the overall game. Slow-paced exploration to find medical supplies is fine. The problem with regenerating health is that it encourages a sequence of messy play->turtle in cover until health regens->repeat, where the player never feels rushed to end combat because they can just play really defensively and survive. With a limited health system, the player is pushed to end the conflict early to prevent death by attrition or loss of supplies from repeated messy plays, which makes for more interesting combat that forces the player to balance speed and caution.

Him and I were asking for more broad details like location, suspect, victims, etc.

what's funny is that the OP webm I recorded is on crushing difficulty. Enemies have stormtrooper aim if you just roll around and punch people and transition into cover. I like it though. It's like the game wants you to get up close to enemies and knock them out like an action movie, and doing so allows you to survive dangerous situations and escape from being pinned down (which happened so often in the previous games)

but yeah that's not how it is at all on high damage. The only times you spend waiting against a wall for regen like that are when you just took a ton of damage and it's a miracle that you even survived, which doesn't happen often. Usually you'll just die. And those regen moments are actually quite tense, because the enemy is usually flanking to finish you off and reset your regen timer with a little more damage.
If you just took medium damage you usually can afford to just regenerate that while moving around like normal.

I never said it was the best. I said there is nothing wrong with it. Regenerating health works fine for the run-and-gun gameplay of Uncharted, and it can work for other games too.

Option A: Low on health, navigate the level quickly to find health packs

Option B: Sit in a corner for 15 seconds doing nothing

Which sounds more run-and-gun to you, user?

Go to bed GamingBrit.

This one?

Well for this kind of game, option B. Because you actually spend more like 5 seconds to regenerate and usually you are moving around while it is happening (unless you are really hurt and cannot afford to be hit again). Medkits could work for Uncharted's gameplay if the enemies dropped health, but you should not be backtracking for supplies in general. You should be picking them up as you go. Having a health management system with medkits and such slows this down and leaves the game open to scenarios where you reach a checkpoint but have too little health to realistically beat the encounter

Obviously regenerating health wouldn't be good for games like Quake and TF2, but that's not what we're talking about here.

Who said anything about backtracking?

And you seem to think I am referring to a system where you have an inventory and you carry around healing items. No. I mean pick up insta-heal items, like every other good shooter ever.

I'll take "start the chapter over because you fucked up" for 800, Alex.

Dude, if you haven't been here since the beginning, Holla Forums is shitposting only central.
Take video game discussion to a place other then here. Sorry OP, it is a great care free series, the hate it gets is from fat manchildren who have nothing in their lives so they just sit in front of screen and put down whatever doesn't activate their pathetic under-developed minds.

i know if I didn't have full health in a game like this I would scour the area for medkits or whatever to restore my health (not talking about an inventory system here either) before moving to the next fight.

It's shit, fam.

Assuming you fucked up in the previous fight.
You're neglecting the fact that not having your health regen FORCES you to play smarter.

Uncharted 2 is fine but you should know better than to talk about any of them around here until it's been a few years after this train wreck.

I was on the same boat. I actually played ND games from UC1 to TLOU (partly because I was desperate for more games, and I was easily influenced by metacritic scores), but then fell out of love when I realized just how little replay value these games have, and can't skip the narrative parts whenever you want.

Hell, the MGS series probably has more cutscenes and dialogue than Uncharted, but still manages to be more fun because of a simple skipping feature. But more importantly, MGS games don't feel like they fucking play themselves, like almost all platforming sections in Uncharted, and more specifically, the encounters with Nadine in UC4.

I just played Bandicoot Warped, never had played a Crash game because i was sick of childish shit back then and it just looked like a Sony version of Mario

Reminded me alot of the Donkey Kong games and also of Pandemonium, so its safe to assume Naughty Dog never really did anything really original

cus its garbage,cuck

...

...

Fuck off nigger, go back to Africa.

if it ran at 60 fps and didn't pander so hard to feminists I'd be tempted to get it… that webm did make me want to play a semi fast paced tps.

Was that second Kane and Lynch game any good?

You must be new. That game had a reputation for being awful, and it's also the game that got that one guy fired from Gamespot because he gave it a bad score while their front page was plaster in advertisements for it. So he went and made Giant Bomb.

whelp, fuck that then.

I think its better than the first one, both shitty cover based shooters tough

any particular fun ones off the top of your head?

Vanquish for sure, and if you can stomach the P2W grind then Warframe is pretty fun.

I'll give Warframe a go then.

hopefully Vanquish comes out on PC at some point.

HUDs are for casuals. I don't need it to see what weapons and grenades I have available because you can see them appear on your person when you pick them up.
The only real handicap is not having a crosshair, and maybe not knowing your exact ammo count. But that just makes the game a little harder and more fun. You can manually adjust the aim assist from 0 to 10 based on whatever you think is fair for clumsy analog-stick aiming. The tracers help with aiming too

You're still playing uncharted after 3?

WebM Part 1

Part 2

...

...

Hello cuckchan.

game has great writing fam, that guy is objectively wrong. The story was not an afterthought in this one. It was in 3 though. But U4 has some of the best character development I've seen in any game outside of TLOU.

I skimmed through listening to some of his other complaints and they were all pretty weak and opinionated, some baseless. It would help if he didn't approach the gameplay in one stubborn way rather than changing his playstyle to meet the conditions

The games have pretty terrible writing that always pissed me off, you don't get to throw around the word "objectively" as though it automatically proves your statement.

The gameplay is far more important than story shit anyway though, but these games always fail miserably in that department too. He wasn't wrong, the platforming shit is mindless garbage that takes no effort to complete, it might as well not even be in the game.

Cover shooting is insanely boring and not fun at all, combine that with horrible console controls and you have a truly terrible experience that can only be made somewhat passable thanks to aim assist garbage.

...

I swear getting good at wallbouncing is the best feel

Kill yourself

yuuup, shit like that video always makes me a little sad I traded in my 360.

then I remember how much you had to pay to play online and I don't feel so bad any more.

I wonder if they'll dumb down the new Gears.

I fucking love gears but it does not have more player mobility than Uncharted, especially in terms of going up and down

I'm assuming this is from jewtube, what's the name of the channel?

I quoted the YouTube Embed.

welp I'm pretty dumb, got used to immediately filtering youtube links. Thanks though!

Sure there's something of a vague consensus in that it's an unpopular game here, but you're more than welcome to share your thoughts on it, as multiple anons have done so far.

Personally, I can't be assed to play a game that's so linear and bloated full of boring semi-interactive cutscenes anymore. The first couple of Uncharteds came out at a time when heavy setpieces and lots of nutso action with a heavy cinematic lilt was relatively fresh, and managed to be pretty fun little adventure games despite that, but this just looks like all the bad elements of the previous games kind of jammed into one.

Add to that with the obvious SJW pandering and my interest went from little to none. Watching that disgusting sheboon beat up two incredibly dangerous 200 plus pound men with ease and then getting off scott free afterwards without the player being able to dish out a beatdown in return left me sick to my stomach.

All in all, Uncharted is a relic, and so is Naughty Dog. I am so glad to see this generation of barely interactive garbage is on it's way out.

You know better than that user. Also you can give me a quick summary on the story because I'm too lazy to google it.

Also did they improve the gameplay?

Is some DLC coming out or what?

TLOU is one of the most overrated games in terms of writing that I've ever played. The Walking Dead game by Telltale did everything it did but better in terms of storytelling while also not even bothering to pretend it was a videogame.

...

character development does not literally mean that the character has to develop or evolve their personalities over the course of the story. It means that the character gets increasingly fleshed out and the audience gets to know them on a personal level. There is no requirement saying that characters have to be morally good in order to have character development.

google 'detroit police station shooting'
only the suspect died. People think he might've been using birdshot. It was basically suicide by cop. The guy in the vest is the shift commander

>character development does not literally mean that the character has to develop

So now they take even genuine illiterates to shill for them.

I mean VNs are allowed, why movies shouldn't be?

To be fair, what the shill is saying is that character development does not always entail radical changes in character behavior. In fact, fully reading the post instead of doing the very cherrypicking that has turned games media into a pile of dog shit would make this obvious.

Some characters work best when they have things revealed about them that don't force them to become different people. Maybe they learn something throughout the story that makes the way they've acted before enter a new light, but it doesn't have to change a character so drastically that their original characterization is invalid.

Wasn't there just a thread a week ago where someone posted a webm of a lets player shitting all over how boring uncharted was and it caused a ton of PS4 shills to flip the fuck out?

Joel doesn't develop and we don't learn anything new about him over the course of the game though. In the first five minutes he's established as a horrible person who's butthurt that his daughter died. The rest of the game is just more of him being a selfish asshole upset that his daughter died.

There's a difference between character development and characterization.

One is an actual development. Doesn't have to be some massive change. Doesn't have to be radical. Not even a good thing if a guy gets more evil in the process.
Joel being a selfish asshole changing to a little bit less selfish asshole becasue of his adventures for example is already character development.

But getting to know who a character is and how he acts in certain situations, the thing the shill describes, is simply characterization.
Not a development.
Giving the player just bits and pieces of a character during the course of a gameis a way to get to know the character you're interacting with. It's not the character developing.

If a character develops he's different at the end point than how he was at the beginning.
