In all seriousness, who would want to play this shit?

What is that game even about?

It's an entire game based around a single type of minigame puzzle with a 2deep4u real footage ending where you 'wake up' from the game and it has changed your perception of reality.

Man OP, I hope never see the sale numbers of actual good games. Your heart would break

This fucker has made at least $1.5 million, how is that a failure?

I'll never stop being smug

Supposedly hipsters

puzzles
I like low poly graphics and the map was pretty comfy
pretty good game to chill, really.

But the price is bullshit for a small puzzle game, would never buy it

Witness was made in San Francisco throughout 7 years.

The Witness had a huge budget, was made in almost a decade, and even had money pumped in from Sony.

It was a story on pretty much all fronts.

yeah forgot to add that the ending is a totally embarasing autismo fest

the dev is probably pretty fucking stupid

I think Blowie said he made more money from the witness in a month than from all the Braid sales

But its the Citizen Kane and Lynch of videogames

...

...

...

and do you know what the budget was ?
do some people really think commercial games like this dont cost anything to make ?

develop-online.net/news/the-witness-makes-5m-in-a-week-but-is-yet-to-recoup-its-budget/0216202

...

It is still delicious to this day.

It took six million dollars to make.
It's a failure.

this goes well past the verbal blowjob and straight into fuck-my-boipussy-sensei-fuck-me-like-the-dirty-hound-i-am territory

Let's be generous and say it sold another 100,000 copies in the PS4 (which I doubt as PC is the biggest market out there). That is 200,000 copies for 40 dollars each. At a bestcase scenario where everyone purchased at full price they made 8 million off sales.

Steam gets a 30% cut out of every sale.

they still received an "award" after the twitter meltdown and later even went for a new kikestarter

Don't forget the piss bottle.

is this the game where it ends with the developer waking up in his bed, showing around his house and going outside?

the goverment gives you shekels to make vidya? da fuck?

and ameribongs make fun of the dutch

So that means on Steam alone they made 2,8 million dollars

Has there ever been a game for pc and consoles that hasnt sold more on consoles?

Good. That game is a joke. Should be freeware.

The government probably wants to spread propaganda through video games, and pays off these hacks to push their agendas.

That bad?
However, how much did it cost them to port it?

Starcraft

...

Senran could sell two millions (double the sales of the entire franchise prior, mind you) and you'd still post your smug monster girls in a vain attempt to make it look bad. Cry more.

didn't DMC4SE outsell this or the HD version or something too?

Yeah well
it didn't

Dubs confirm. No one wants to watch Jon Blow spill his own piss all over himself as a reward for beating the game.

Always and forever.

...

What are the Battleborn and Evolve numbers?

...

...

This is all there was on SteamSpy for Battleborn. I wonder if 2K had steamspy take down certain stats.

Shit, the right pic is evolve, my bad.

Lel but you're the salty one in denial.

which?

This, it was a port of a niche game from the Vita, how is that a failure?

Every jrpg on the xbox 360.

I've been gaming for a while now.

Sales numbers doesn't have ANYTHING to do with how good a game is. Some of the best games of my life sunk into commercial oblivion.

Marketing and (manufactured) hype sells games.

you just answered your own question

Ya know if they just let these people design the aesthetics for games but left the plot, theme, challenges, level design, etc. to people who were competent then there wouldn't be a problem.

Conker BFD was panned for only selling 50k units at launch

AT LAUNCH NIGGER, AND THAT WAS 15 YEARS AGO WHEN THE MARKET WAS MUCH SMALLER

This shit is what faggots like jon blow-your-dick-for-a-dollah deserve

For a whole team

For 7 years of work

Its a failure, stop pretending otherwise

most Japanese games released on Steam sell in the range of thousands of units. Sayonara Umihara Kawase and the two prequels sold so poorly it put the studio out of business.

PC gamers don't buy good games, they buy marketed games,

ftfy

wew

AssCreed is proof that you can only keep that shit up for so long before the dumbfuck normalfags start to catch on.

Bethesda burned a lot of bridges with FO4 and the paid mod controversy.

That's not even close to what he even implied you illiterate nigger. Read the entire fucking post before sperging out, dipshit.

That's more like it.

That's exactly what he said.

At least The Last Remnant got a PC release, saving it from complete obscurity.

...

...

...

HULKAMANIA, BROTHER

that sounds pretty solid for an indie game, anyone know the budget?

100,000 * 40 = 4,000,000

There's no way it took more than 4 million to make.

supposedly 3-4 million if blow is to be believed

Before all of that nonsense with FO4 and paid mods I was a full on Bethcuck; willing and prepared to preorder whatever garbage they pumped out. But if you bend even the goodest of goyim too far he will break, and I suppose I can thank Todd for freeing me of that life by means of sheer incompetence and greed.

How? Is your father Jewish or something?

Keep dreaming, Blow.

Not to attentionwhore, but I make vidya

Artists are like a cancer. They'll spread into every aspect of the game and fucking ruin it.

Before 2007, all games were basically made by nerds. Even the "artists" were still nerdy smart guys that could take up coding if they wanted.

But now its "hip" to make video games. The artists seep into the development and steadily corrupt it until its fucking shit

If you don't believe, look at Spore.

Serves them right for shilling so hard.

Why so coy? Why call them "artists" when we all know they're Marxist parasites.

Spore was the straw that broke many gamer's backs for sure, but I don't think the "games are art" crowd was a part of its ruining.

Spore was a victim of the "let's dumb it down for retards and children" syndrome. EA thought that if they made it into a fucking Pixar cartoon it would sell like a Pixar movie.

I can believe that. Artists basically have a game held up for ransom. Unless you want to have your game look like unmodded Dorf Fortress you have to placate them.
That's the reason why if I ever get around to "just make game" I'll want to do everything myself. If I ever manage to teach myself how to code or use Game Maker then I'm pretty confident in all my other skills. Except music. I don't know what the hell I'm going to do there.

...

It was a catalyst.

It all depends on the budget. Conker's Bad Fur Day was a AAA title from a developer who was sort of leading the industry at the time.

100,000 is a success for an indie game. Problem is The Witness had a incredibly high budget for one.

That's not the case. It's the fact that "artists" are now the ones that hold the purse strings (due to all the government grants and shit).

How the fuck is it an indie when Sony was directly involved in financing it?

How is it an indie game when it had a budget of $7 millions?

Fair enough.
SimEverything never ever
Can we meme this into existence?

Six of one half a dozen of the other. Either way you're still fucked.

SimEverything is a fucking bad idea, too broad and too ill defined. Maybe a series of interconnected games that can seamlessly share save date would work better.

I'll be honest, I don't think Spore, as originally envisioned, was ever going to live up to the hype anyway.

Make no mistake, it would have likely been a great technological achievement, but as a game it would have failed in all the ways it counts.

gamesnosh.com/jonathan-blow-is-upset-with-piracy-of-the-witness-considering-denuvo/

I didn't know that, I thought it was being funded by Blow's Braid Bucks.

Still, 100,000 would be a success for a game with a more modest budget.

Hahaha oh please do, this guy is such a pretentious twat

I think Maxis was on the right track with the way Sim City 2000 worked. You know with Streets and SimCopter.

:^)

The -45% is accounting for taxes and Valve's cut.
That's actually not too bad for an indie game, depending on what the budget was. It can't have been more than a few hundred grand at the very highest.

You misunderstand, Skyrim and FO3 were my first. I had bought FO3 multiple times on the fucking xbox 360 for the GOTY edition and shit because I thought it was an amazing game. I thought that because I read it on gaming news sites which I followed religiously, for I was young and easily manipulated.

After hearing about people bitch about it and Skyrim so much after the paid mods shenanigans began I went back and played the previous TES/FO games and was enlightened by their relative non shittiness. I had ignored FNV originally because I didn't like cowboys and I heard it wasn't made by Bethesda, and I was still hopeful when FO4 was announced up until the point where the protagonist spoke. That was when I knew they had gone too far, and that FO4 would be the first game that I pirated. I dropped it 10 hours in because I knew that I was truly free from their curse, and now I am free to play games made by competent developers that don't hate the fans that made them famous.

The point of this story is that even the most casual among us have the potential to wake up to the world around them, and it is the duty of those who have woken to enlighten those who are still sleeping. I have done this to many people, mostly by using Dark Souls as a gateway game to ones less casual.

You cannot fight the industry by hating the companies within it, but by teaching the consumers to know better for themselves. Without mindless consumers, companies like EA or Bethesda are nothing and they will have to start making actually good games in order to survive. As long as the goyim flock to them, this industry will continue to rot, and people like us are the only ones that can stop them.

7 years, a few million.

you played yourself.

I think the whole idea was that most of the stages would just be intended for minigames until you reach the space stage which is the main game. The point of the stages was just to give you a sort of perspective when you get to start fucking with civilisations you were at one point just another member of.

It would have been great if they just focused on developing the planet life simulation so that you could have a tonne of fun just fucking with planet's ecosystems.

5 to 6 million
7 years

fug

Are you hyped for DmC2 user?

Stop, you're killing me.

Jokes aside, I'm actually curious about what you enjoyed about Skyrim and FO3 specifically. I mean, I'm very forgiving with cRPGs in terms of gameplay if the writing is up to standards, but neither of those two features good writing or good gameplay.

What made you like the games so much? Was it because you had nothing else to compare them to?

I think we're reaching that point. The number of suckers that are being introduced to the industry is diminishing, what with the user base topping off, so companies can't get away with selling subpar products to new people that don't know better anymore, and all the while pissing off the older costumers with their kikery.

What the fuck?
You could make Doom, Serious Sam, Quake, Tetris, Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man and Space Invaders on that kind of budget and still have money to spare.

Kanker.

Vesperia got a definitive edition re-release on the PSTriple. By any chance, are you gay in addition to being dumb?

You could do that, you could also video tape yourself walking around your house dragging along a piss bottle.

...

Worse, the only games I had really got into other than those were Halo and Call of Duty. I thought the fact that I could go anywhere I wanted and make my own character was crazy, because I had never played anything that wasn't a shooter, platformer, or racing game. And when I saw other RPGs, I just saw that you couldn't go wherever you wanted, you had to follow the main quest. I still have that problem with many RPGs, but I could not understand what value they might have outside of freedom. The one that really got to me was Dark Souls. It wasn't because of "muh difficulty" or "muh atmosphere", but because of its very deliberate level design, enemy design, lack of explicit story shoved down your throat, and strangely most of all: the builds. In TES games I always ended up as the master of everything, I might start out as a thief or mage but by the end I was at least competent at everything because there was no reason not to be. But in DaS, I cared about the multiplayer to some extent so I had to limit my level to be within range of others (meta was capped around 125), combined with the strange system for weapon scaling meant that I had to actually care about the numbers behind the character for once, and for any specific set of damage stats there were a small number of weapons that would be at their peak viability, so every build used different weapons (if you have 40 in one damage stat and 18 in another, you want to find something that only scales well with the 40 and has a minimum requirement of 18 in the other).

I never really grew fond of other RPGs excluding Morrowind, DD, and the "souls" games because of how much focus they have on their story, but DaS got me into Japanese action games which is pretty much all I play nowadays.

I suppose I can help you a little. Go download a digital audio workstation, probably something free like LMMS.Read the manual thoroughly.

From there you have two basic options:
-Simply mess around and try to make a good tune
or
-Learn more about music structure. This includes reading books (there's even some on project Gutenberg) and looking up tutorials and courses online. This may improve workflow and quality, at the expense of a considerable time investment.

You should at least try FNV if nothing else. It plays like FO3, but has the writing quality of the first two FOs, and a much improved focus on non-linearity.

The guy who designed it co-directed Sticker Star. :^)

Commissions, fam.

Don't hire artists like you would a programmer, just make quick placeholder graphics for everything in your game and when you know exactly what you need find some poor artists on DA or something and offer to pay them for each item created.

Trust me, I was like you and make game but you don't want to do all the art on your own. You're better off spending the time you would on the art at a minimum wage job then using the money from that to pay people to do it for you. It takes a lot of time to just like make game, and you'll want to outsource stuff like art and audio whenever possible so that you can have time to actually make the game good. You can also outsource parts of programming, but if you have to for your first game then it's probably way overscoped. If you can't program the basic prototype for it in a day then don't make the game.

keyword originally, it became one of my favorites too and was one of the games that helped me purge the casualness from my veins.

JP exclusive. Also, nice dead system, faggot.

Playing SaGa games helps.

Those fucks extort thousands of dollars from furries.

I think it's better to find someone that has already done contract work before and is not of the Marxist persuasion, rather than go hunting for people on DA, where the majority seems to suffer from one form of mental illness or another.

I fail at reading comprehension. I'm trying to think up some other games you might like.

Ever tried Gothic 1 and 2? Other than the weird control scheme they're pretty great games that do play like a TES game, in the sense that you can go anywhere from the get go (but since there is no level scaling you do so at your own peril).

Alpha Protocol is another one with somewhat dubious action gameplay, but is likely the most non-linear cRPG out there.

Which ones? Like Saga Frontier on PS1?

Considering I have always been terrible at music (I don't even know how the fuck did I manage to get through mandatory music classes) and that I have a fairly shit taste at music (I unironically like some Skrillex songs), how much time would it take for me to git acceptable at tune making, if I were to read a book on the subject? Does somebody know about drawing, considering that at least in this case I am not the bottom of the barrel?

I am a programmer type, if it is of any help.

Nowadays, a number of game artists (particularly indie ones) can't art for shit. So I'm not sure why people even put up with them.

Believe me, many exist that refuse to draw porn or furshit and would be happy to do something like make art for a game.

all three are sitting in my $team library right now, and the first two are actually installed. However, I haven't gotten around to playing any because I am very turned off by an RPG with a defined protagonist (which is why I hate the Witcher games). Most protagonists are incredibly boring whether they be in games, books, or movies. Characters like Bayonetta or Tyrian Lannister are the exception, so I find it hard to appreciate games focused on the story that just have a typical "Protagonist" character as their main dude. Sometimes it's played fairly well like Deus Ex, and while I'd like to hope that all those games play it well I haven't yet been in the mood to find out as opposed to just playing fun Japanese action games instead.

Comics and cartoons are in no better shape.

Good one retard.

FRESH FROM THE OVEN!

Quantum Break has yet to sell over 200K in the US at retail

uhh PC is not the biggest market. It has the most users, but few buyers for the majority of products. Almost everything sells better on consoles.

Depends on what you're measuring, Facebook games and League of Legends/Dota 2 are gigantic markets that completely dwarf any console. AAA multiplats that require an expensive computer to run well are for entirely different markets.

How did Zenimax Doom turn out?

yes, but league/dota/facebook players really just stick to those games. Spend their money on those games. Console sales are where you get consistent, successful titles.

That's surprising see as how there were a shitload of people shilling it on chan sites

They spent 5-6 million on a terrible game, they spent a few thousand more to hire some shills. Luckily it didn't work out for them.

No shit it flopped, people wanted Estival Versus

It's not a AAA game and it couldn't have cost a lot of money to port. It did fine.

Polygon employees.

That made me throw up in my mouth a little

Steam Spy requires time (~2 weeks) before it can get accurate figures. It's in their FAQ.

Remember when games had it all?

Now its either

or
or
or
or

It's not even just the writing, just look at the difference in the art itself

They don't even care anymore

to

Jesus, was the feminized version written by a nigger or something?

retard SJW tumblrite, actually. Should honestly be obvious, what with all the bullshit about pronouns.

...

Are we allowed to pretend?

SUK deserves more sells that's for sure, guess if it featured titty ninjas it would have fared better

I compose music for a living, and I can't into coding. Shit sucks, every programmer I got in touch with wanted an all-around art guy, and aside from composing I can only make shitty pixel art. Does having 8+ years of photoshop count?

Hope you fail Blow and wake up as the only thing you'll be able to drink is the piss bottle you keep close in hand. It's not like there are many games that people would want to buy instead of pirating it if it is using denuvo.

And they say the shill infiltration is just paranoia.

The economy is most likely drying up because they have absolutely nothing to offer in the world market, so they are turning to the entertainment industry as an easy way to bring in more shekels.

Same reason Russia bought all those developers.

...

kanker zooi

It's not fucking fair ;_;

Still isn't XSEED's worst selling title though

Canada does it too. That's why Ubisoft can make so many flops and still prosper.

kill me

...

...

I think most of this images should cover commercial flops

Sadly

Strategy games?
Early fps?
"competitive" fps?

...

...

i misread the numbers, but it's still only ~100k

I tried to play it just last week upon noticing it on my steam library from who knows what sale and no matter what i couldnt finish it.

The story, world and overall isnt so bad but the system from combat to just how shit werks… it doesnt.

Bullshit if anything that if you accidentally kill too many enemies your new companions wont level up worth shit because your "battle rank" is too high while you are actually weak pussyass faggot not to mention missing several party members entirely or fucking up their leveling if you dont follow a guide while playan.

Also that desert, final fucking nail in the coffin i want to fucking play not run back and forth at snails speed.

Tsk tsk tsk. Trash yourself.

This article is a fucking mystery

No. THIS isn't fair.

;_;

The console market isn't as watered down. It sells better on consoles.

Your mom.
