cancer

Universally bad and, like the movie industry, indicative of talent and creativity drying up.

they could be good, but in practice they end up being shit

that's a vn right? the one on the right looks better tbh fam

It's YU-NO, a PC-98 adventure game being remade for PS4 and Vita

Depends on a lot of things, usually remakes are a sign oh someone already said what I was going to

That pic is an improvement

Left looks like a game, and right looks like a VN.

Fuck, the left one looks so much better in that pic.

The one on the left looks more detailed: face shadows, more detailed ears, more pronounced nose and mouth, shining hair, light appearently striking her right side which is apparent from at least the neck up.

If you think the left looks better, you're the reason anime is garbage.

You fucked that post up fam

It`s usually shit, but sometimes it is still shit

In that example, pretty awful. Is the original any good?

Shit cliche is shit, remake or no.

I can think of only one remake where the original is very definitely worse than the remakes, Higurashi. For some reason I can't fucking post images, though.

metal hair to dandruff hair.

Original is a pretty great game, fairly unique too for its time.

Testing:

Shit is it bad I immediately recognized that slut? Holy shit the one on the right is unrecognizable.

A wonderful fucking gem that more people need to play.

Turns out saving PNGs from Google can fuck up posting. All three images needed to be fixed in paint. Weird.

Can this be a PC-98 thread instead? I missed the mega link for all those games.

Depends. If it's basically the same people with the same creative intent redoing an old game with the benefits of better technology and their own improvements in skill, they're great. There's a lot of first-gen 3D games I wish would get that kind of remake.

It's a real shame. 90's anime aesthetic is fucking cool.

mega:///#F!CoYHxKQD!rf40xw4cBYjsSm6gLjW7nA

here you go

Why do PC-98 games look so good?

Speaking of YU-NO, they revealed 2 BGM remixes
Track 1
Original: yu-no.jp//common/mp3/yuno001.mp3
Remix: yu-no.jp//common/mp3/yuno001a.mp3
Track 2
Original: yu-no.jp//common/mp3/yuno003.mp3
Remix: yu-no.jp//common/mp3/yuno003a.mp3

exercise caution when approaching remakes. but the same can be said for any vidyas.

If a game is good a remake won't improve it, if a game is bad usally a remake can't help it
The dead God of originality is who should be praised

Both are pretty bad tbh fam. I will never understand older anime looks that made hair shinier than a washed car.

I know part of why the left one looks like that is because of technical limitations, but the 90s anime had some serious issues with shading. If you think the one in the left is objectively superior to the one in the right, let me tell you you are just being a hipster faggot.

It's specially noticeable in the hair. Shadows and reflections don't work like that. Neither do like the one in the right, but at least they are not as aggressive to the eye as white-black-color. It almost looks like she was wearing grease.

Furthermore, even though the bodytype seems more "realistic" (both seem possible in real life, but the one on the left is probably more common), the one in the left looks much more stylized and delicate. I am not going to criticize this as it's up to artistic choice, but if I was given the choice to look up porn of any of these, I would probably choose the one on the right.

Also, despite the face looking more detailed due to a full nose and some extra shading, we have to take into account that, for some reason, she has a width of more than one eye between her eyes, which makes her look uguu and with a Meguca-tier wide face. The shading seems better if only because it is more consistent, as all of the drawing opted for what it seems like a three-tone shading whereas the right one employs two-tone in skin (perfectly valid, it's a stylistic choice after all) but then mixes it up with gradient tones in her outfit, which look good but clash with the skin.

I can say some good things about the drawing on the left, tho. Her outfit seems much more original than seifuku #81992173, and despite the fact that her skirt looks way too "plain", it's still much better than the pillow-shadowed skirt on the right (what the fuck were they thinking? The shirt looks gorgeous).

Despite the really shitty annie-may artwork that I've seen here I'm genuinely curious about this remake. I don't know who their fucking audience is because it's just a random PC-98 game that was really good. I'm not Japanese but I don't imagine there are a ton of people out there that remember it. I just hope it gets localized so I can try it.

wow wtf happened?

Depends. Remasters are okay, I don't want to dig out an old console to play a 10+ year old game.

Remakes however are shit.

Game remakes could be good if they actually fix hardcoded flaws and alleviates technological limitations to create the game it should've been. However, it's an excuse to basterdize an old game and shove today's shitty game design philosophy for a new age of retards.

Do you even have to a s k?

While that image is straight up cherrypicking on purpose, the pics shown here are a direct comparison between a game and it's remake. I don't see the purpose of this.

...

It's almost like it's a different art style or something.

Left artstyle has a more gritty look to it than the right; it seems like it'd be harder to have a serious story with the one on the right. The left character looks like less of a bitch, too. Or rather, looks like a "cold", distant type rather than just a bitch.

It's bait dude, don't take it seriously.
Anime, and everything else really, has always been 90% shit.
Art styles are super subjective as well. For the OP I find the left more appealing cause you don't see that style anymore, and I've never really been exposed to it outside of stuff like True Love.

Thanks kind user. I won't delay downloading all these this time.

"The Beatles are evergreen classics! But don't listen to the originals, they're crap, check my cousin Vinny's cover instead".

Every fucking time I hear about remakes, HD re-releases and "better than vanilla" mods.

Actually, I guess that's the main point I forgot to get to, is that the character on the left looks like a much better character for a VN because she looks like a stylized version of a real person, rather than an animu grrll. I realize that's subjective, but still.

this right here is the only good remake in video game history.

I guess it depends on what the purpose of the remake is. Cashgrabs like what most of the "remakes" or "remasters" were for the 7th gen are probably at the lowest tier.

Then there are the remakes that do the above and use updated assets, from graphics to sound, and go back to fix things that they wish they could have back in the 6th gen before the rise of online patching. Not sure if you can call these as just plain cashgrabs, I guess it depends on how much work is put into it.

Then there's games that are so old that they need to be remade, such as PC-98 games. The Ys games are an example of remakes done for sort of this purpose, though I think their stated purpose was to make the Ys canon fit better with the newer games.

Then there's stuff like what FF7 remake is probably going to be like, where the game changes entirely and the only recognizable elements will be story structure, characters, and music. Not sure how people feel about things like these, where the gameplay is 100% different.

I generally prefer enhanced ports over remakes. Persona 2009 had a number of new CG scenes and illustrations, but it turned out great. Mainly because Kaneko supervised the whole thing.

...

So you've never seen an asian's woman's hair before is what you're saying?

This is the most stupid thing I read today. It's only 14:29 so something may still beat you user.

It's from the 90s using 90s art style.

Most of the time a remake ends up being really a re-imagening. Take Metroid Zero Mission, it adds a lot of convenience that was missing in the original (auto-map, saving, healing stations), but it also completely fucks up the level design, tells you where to go and makes the game too easy. The original Metroid was fine, it just needed a little more polish. The Metroid Plus mod is much closer to what a Metroid remake should have been, but it's just a mod with all the limitations of a ROM hack.

Can't say I can name that many excellent remakes if things like "definitive edition" (Witcher or just patched games) don't count.

That's a good redesign tbh

The problem with remakes, is that the remakers can't keep their filthy paws away from unnecessary and unrequested changes to the original material.

Oh yeah, I meant besides the soundtrack change.

The original's soundtrack is still the best one in the series to date, of course.

Cancer.
That's going to make the emotional impact of the Kanna prostitution reveal and the Mitsuki cuckery peepeing when you're hiding in the locker considerably less impactful.
Kill it with fire.
lol

There's no reason not to play the PC-98 version and if you're going to play YU-NO then be sure to follow the instructions here:
tlwiki.org/index.php?title=Kono_Yo_no_Hate_de_Koi_wo_Utau_Shoujo_YU-NO
very closely and absolutely get the high quality audio pack.

And before someone asks; no, the fixed resolution images don't magically scale up, play it in a fucking window.

Yeah, but it clashes with the rest of the drawing style for no good reason. I mean, I guess it would look weird and aggressive on the eyes, but if all the drawing used a black-white-color shading style, I wouldn't mind it, but the rest of the drawing is light tone-mid tone-dark tone. Both drawings are guilty of shading mishmash, but at least the one on the right is pleasant to the eye.

I mean, I understand why would her hair glow brighter than her clothing, for example, but the fact that a material is more glossy doesn't make its shadows darker. It's like they were applying some shitty HDR to her hair alone.

You are right about the girl on the right looking like a different archetype, though. Can't say it's an artstyle thing because modern anime still has cold girls, so I guess it was just the artist fucking up.

BTW, no real woman has a 1,5 eye separation between her eyes. Well, or maybe some do but, but luckily they are not as common.

Sorry, I have looked at several JAV but I have yet to see a woman with her hair made of a smart material capable of redirecting light from the least illuminated zones to the ones that are receiving the most light. Is it for photosynthesis purposes or something?

You can't shift the blame on "it's just an artstyle, bro". Picasso's cubism was just a style, but it would be hard to deny that it's hideous if we just value how pleasant it is to look at.

...

TLWiki has been offline for quite a while now, might wanna post a different link

They might be more detailed but they have the same problem as the ears of the Tenchi Muyo characters in that they look like chimp ears.

remakes are cancer and lazy

Why do the lighting and rendering stay the same for more than 3 decades though?

Left
Passionate eyes, precisely drawn, flowing hair, animated look to her. Her style fits the game perfectly. Clutches near her chest as she is careful with every moment. You can sense the destiny tied between you.

Right
Vapid and uninterested eyes, much like the creators themselves 20 years later.
Loose digital stroke style. Measly hands.
Stands out against the photographed backgrounds.

Sometimes they're better than the originals.

Remake is better. What's going on with the left eye in the original image? Looks like part of her face is caved in.

Sometimes the original has to be forgotten.

But that was the third game.

Modern animu style sucks. Its thin lines and soft gradients are not as visually interesting and get muddy in motion.

fucking CASUL

I think Isaac is the only real remake I know that doesn't suck. Well at least it didn't before they started to remove fun things from it.

Considering that "HD editions", remasters and other enhanced ports are not really REMAKES, are there any real remakes, that are good?

Resident Evil
Metroid Zero Mission

it's a meme you dip

Didn't play it. Does it retain tank controls?

Yes? Yes you're right, it's pretty fucking good.

I believe the latest HD version has an option to play without tank controls.

For RPGs, I usually try out the originals if I enjoyed the remade versions, so long as the the release frame between them is large enough (around two console generations personally).

HD releases and enhanced ports like what , I don't mind those usually, even if some additions or changes can be jarring. A benefit Holla Forums usually forgets to mention is that they're actually meant as reprints - targeted at people who've never played the original, rather than the returning fanbase - which is nice if a physical copy of the original is hard to find in your area.

For VNs, I'd think the point would be more about narrative content (plot, player choice, setting, lore consistency, characters, sexual content, anything else) . If any elements removed, or altered, then I usually go for the originals. Otherwise, visual artwork doesn't matter as much usually. At the very least, you'll always have the original artwork/version somewhere if you don't like the newer ones.

In your OP pic, though, I honestly prefer the right pic's over the left's.

...

What video game would you want remade the most?

...

Something bad but with potential, remade from the ground up to be live up to that potential. A pipe dream amongst pipe dreams, I know.

Although, I would like those Digimon Wonderswan games. In English.

what is nepped animal?

i fucking hate anime but that first one looks cool. what is it called?

The discussions on TitS evolution for the Vita are legendary.

There was blood. Brother against brother.

Xenogears?

Although

And all of that because they didn't let me set right that little ribbon of text on the school of medicine's floor board.

...

Just needs a UI that doesn't suck shit.

ty

I have no problem with Alpha Centauri, I don't think any (UI) remake or graphical update or such are required.

Although, I would like turns not to stop at the year 2500 and there to be more technologies, units, that sorta thing.

So no, you haven't. Doesn't take grease for her hair to glow like that. The reason for the blue/black is dye.

Final Fantasy VI

I have no doubt in my mind that it would be shit but imagine the drama that would stem from an FFVI remake.

Are you an actual child?

NU ANIME SUCKS
BRING BACK 90s STYLE

BGC is still leagues better

...

Interesting that it's getting a remake. I took a look at the website, and holy shit, the new style doesn't fit at all. I suppose it may be because I completed the original from start to finish, but some characters are barely recognizable. New Kanna looks generic as fuck. New Yu-no is actually good. If I didn't know I might have complimented the one on the right, as the old style does have some issues as other user described>>9618307

Some of the characters in the Rance remakes don't look as good as their original versions. Satella from Rance 3 and her remade version in Rance 03 was the worst redesign.

Left has a meltface but a hotter body and simpler but better design

And than there goes her massive lovable tits. She looks like she got a reduction already.

She also got an age reduction, because she looks fucking 14 now

I still prefer her old face more than the new anime eyed one

The 1996 original is far more detailed, and generally better, but the new version is pretty pleasant to look at too although fairly generic. It's mostly down to proportions I think, the girl on the left just looks more alive thanks to the fact that her body shape is far more noticeable than with the girl on the right. The only thing going for the girl on the right is that she does still look cute, but so does the girl on the left.

When all anime characters use the same body shape, they start to look like dolls.

This one is absolute shit though

what, the old doesn't have anime eyes?

I want real remakes of games that deserve them.
Not lazy remasters of last gen games that barely look any better.

I'd be okay if they added shit besides it being prettier or at a higher framerate.
I would love to see a Demon's Souls remake with the cut level included.

ham hands

Better than the originals period.

Yes. There's an option not to use them, but it breaks the game with how easy it is to avoid enemies.

...

user…

why bother

YU-NO is translated but on Windows

Getting to the porn bits isn't as hard as you think.

Modern anime eyed

New face looks cat faced too, as well as not having the tanned body of the original

fixed

It is, but that usually doesn't matter to people who don't care about in anime in general. Good on you though for recommending him BGC.

Yeah, she loses the cigarette and her hands aren't in her pockets anymore. She loses that casual, but possibly overworked, kind of impression to her.

Looking more closely at the designs, I'm beginning to think the newer one isn't faithful to the expression of the original.

In the original design, the prominent hand is kept semi-fisted around her chest as if she were holding something close to herself. It's a stance that naturally lends itself to being raised into a martial arts guard, so it could be that she's worried about her physical well-being. It's also the hand position of someone trying to cover themselves up in an embarrassing or awkward situation - shirtless or not, the stance is meant to de-emphasize her chest. Reading her character description on VNDB, she also seems to be the type to hold grave secrets. The stance she takes is one that almost motions towards covering up her mouth, as if she were scared of letting something slip out by accident.

In the newer design, her hand is opened and moved outward. This not only gives you a clear view of her chest, but it also makes her out as someone who is haughty in her aloofness. Her raised eyebrows and tilted head make her out as someone who could be looking down on you. Because her mouth is slightly opened, she loses a little more of the tension that is found in the original design. It also looks as if she's about to say something, which is the opposite impression of what I found in the original.

Can't say I'm liking this.

no, they don't

That's better

Remaster =/= Remake

Also, why the fuck didn't they just port the GBA verison, they MUST have been aware of how ugly the thing they were creating was.

Yeah. that's a lot better.

ESL here. What do you mean by "motions" in the above?

I think he meant to use it like a verb, as in "moves towards covering up her mouth"

I was using motion as a verb. Merriam-Webster simple defintion: to make a movement of your hand, head, etc., that tells someone to move or act in a certain way.

The exact words I used were almost motions - meaning she might try to move her hand over her mouth but she isn't doing it yet.

I might be using it wrong, though, since I was using it as a synonym for gesture, rather than the more command-like and instructional implication that the dictionaries I'm looking through are saying.

...

I realized it was being used as a verb. I just found its use kinda weird. Anyway, I'm guessing you were trying to say that it almost looked like her stance conveyed that she might cover up her mouth at some point?

I'll want it forever and a day even though I know that a bunch of cars would get cut and the physics won't be great.Hell it's probably too much just to ask for a fixed English version.

Also Zero was a remake of TXR2 on dreamcast and it came out alright Even though it does look it was a direct port with no touching up

On one hand, they're nice for games that have aged poorly mechanically and visually, but on the other, they're cash grabs that show how little creativity there is in the industry these days. Its a case by case thing.

Well if you're constantly afraid of a secret coming out, then shutting up your mouth is the natural thing to do. Of course, you can't have it closed off all the time, so her being in a position to do so easily is what I'm getting at.

On one hand it can be done right like Ninja Gaiden 2004.

But on the other hand, you have remakes like Star Wars Battlefront & NuDoom which are not only cashgrabs, but are more inferior to the original material and are also made to revise history so that if you think the newer game is shit, well, 'You just have nostalgia glasses on, take it off'

Agree on all counts. Kanna tries to be as distant as possible with a slight hint of fear/anxiety, in the new design there's some superiority, like don't approach me. That'd probably suit Mio more

Those are reboots, not remakes.

what happened?

The anime art style was better then.

This shit does not compute.

why

If the original was severely flawed, the remake has about a 30-50% chance of being good.

If the original was good or great, the remake has about a 10% chance of being good.

People knew how to draw instead of /a/utists who use the fill tool on their blobs.

Just look at that shading and dithering.

This, 80's and 90's anime was the best and on;y /a/ustic NEETs think their shitty highschool "moe" garbage is better.

Just play the original

I hope you aren't implying that 80's and 90's animu were all perfect and that 00's and 10's animu are all shit because that just isn't fucking true. Every period has the good shit, and the bad shit.

I don't understand why people try to remake good games. I mean, I do understand, it's a cheap cash-in on an already established product, but that's not the point. Why not remake bad/average games so no one has really high hopes for it, that way they're pleasantly surprised when it comes out decent.

No one said that. Just as the 90's had better games in general and today mostly has nuGames like Doom4, etc. with very few worthwhile releases. Anime is the same way.

There were a few good new anime, but nothing beats that older style.

Gladius, the gladiator school turn based RPG.
Better graphics, more characters, add in all the classes they couldn't in the first game, hundreds more weapons, armor and items. Make the combat system more complex while maintaining the swing meter. Make the characters more customize-able.

Extend the story so it's not left a cliff hanger like the first game. Make the end boss harder and much more cooler then a dragon pillar in the middle of the map.

Expand upon the story by ways of adding a third path, the path of Ludo. And that would be like insane difficulty. Or rather, realistic, like characters die in fewer hits, AI is smarter. Some characters don't come back depending on their injuries. Also, add LOADS more side quests.

Maybe give Urlan a bit more story, but IDK he never really played a huge role in the story besides being Ursulas brother.

Add more mini-bosses. Muutus, Galverg and Gwazi are awesome. But the stab in the back by Gwazi could have been more suspenseful. Galverg was one of the spooky bosses that you found out killed your best friends father, it would be great if the battle with him was far more tense, he was more difficult then just being a stronger Samnite.

Make the multiplayer GREAT. Online and ranked matches, greater arenas, that's all that's really needed.

Remove executioners sword as a weapon too…it's far too powerful with it's effect: death.

A question: Did you actually live through the 90's?
When an era passes, people tend to remember and talk about only the really good aspects or the really bad ones. So people born after that era will never really have a good idea of what media back then was like.

It isn't a remake.

What the fuck happened? And the remake is SFW? What the fuck?

Summer has arrived. Just noticed that on my calendar.

Kill yourself, casual.

You do know where you're posting, right?

Fuck, I remember playing that shit in couch co-op with my brothers.
We never actually beat it, but we had fun.

For a remake, it needs more competitions for sure, and maybe paths that start in the steppes or the desert just to cover every region.

The artstyle of anime in the 90s is better than the adobe AfterAffects style of today.

That's all. I know that probably hurt's your NEET feelings since you love Umaru-Chan and SerenKagura so much but I don't like that flat, minimalist, not detail, cartoony style as much as you.

I was just asking a question

Sorry fam, /a/utists on here get really asshurt when people say something bad about whatever new seasonal fad anime that they like.

I like them both

Anything can be done badly.
The only thing that's changed is that the badly-done things of the past are much easier to ignore.

90's-chan looks really cartoony
10's-chan has the girl next door vibe which I really like

They changed the art.
Put in voice acting.
Anime cutscenes.

Sounds like a remake to me.

A lot of people hate the new art style of TitS evolution. I don't think it is too bad. Although I prefer the original art.

...

That's poorly made but the music and the artstyle still tried to be great so I actually like it more than something "well made" in the new style.

Keep in mind that was hand drawn whereas nuAnime is 100% produced on a computer.

I love 90s anime myself.

I prefer the 90's vibe, it has a more grim look, where everything post 2000 has absurd saturation of color and oily looks, doesn't help that anime can't do other stuff but reuse the same lame jokes over and over, seriously they should stop trying to make anime a comedy show, it doesn't work

If there is something I hate about modern anime, it's the absurd amount of boring slice of life weebait we get. They are all the same with different character designs, and sometimes the only difference is the hair color because they all wear school uniforms.

Good job, man. Now the girl on the left can actually compete.

Can be good, almost never are.

Eve Burst Error R is a good example of a remake done right

Two shitty AAA games just came out, Summer only effects Halfchan.

I miss when anime characters had noses
I miss when anime characters had FACES

ALL the noses are DOTS without shading now! What shadows? What scrapes of definition for a face? PFF! JUST SLAB GRAB IT AND FNAFF IT RAW

Look at this, the two best examples of anime of their day. Notice the difference in what was the contemporary style then and what is the overwelming style now?

Hint: it's CRAP

Is this supposed to be sarcastic?

Wow you sound easy to impress. So any old game that gets a fresh coat of paint and a few new enemies is suddenly superior and worth paying $60 for again? Granted it was one of the few examples of a remake that didn't butcher what made the original great but still unnecessary.

Mi Negro

...

Xenogears.

what ami looking here exactly?

Yes, because the 90's or the 80 's didn't have there own art style and why not listen /a/ pic that shows the same animu from the same year instead of actually comparing it.

Not to mention that if they cut out the sex with Amanda, it'll be harder to infer that Kanna is your daughter.

Wut.
Also, SBY remake is the only one that looks objectively better. Trigun one bothers the shit out of me.

superiors:

You fixed one of the only things wrong on the left.
I'll never understand why some decent/good artists place eyes so fucking far apart and don't notice how wrong it looks

...

There was a Trigun remake in 2010?

Rebuild of Eva's redesign isn't too bad in some places though, though

It's the 2010 Trigun movie.

Slayers was overrated shit. Nothing but lame slapstick gags you see in anime today.

You could say the same about Ranma, doesn't mean it isn't an enjoyable watch

When will they dredge up ranma for the raping anons?

That first pic got me.

DROPPED.EXE

Left looks like a mature, sexy badass you don't want to fuck with, but provides enjoyable banter when you try flirting anyway.

Right looks like a slutty college student with no personality beyond "Fuck my face~

...

Right looks like a tryhard emo chick instead of a mysterious mature woman

>playing reading VNs that have netorare

It's not the type of netorare cucks get off to, it's there for the bad endings which can be averted anyway. Just play the fucking game, user. You're missing out.

I played YU-NO without a guide (it's as much a point & click adventure as a VN) and ended up maxing the clock on my save file at 99 hours and 99 minutes. There is maybe 25 to 30 minutes of erotic content. The NTR is very much linked into the plot and not to some dating sim BS and the protagonist is a delinquent who can shrug it off, not some Sjinji expy.

The NTR isn't anything like you're imagining it to be, YU-NO is about as far away from a nukige as it's possible to get while still having sex in it.

you faggots better not be lying to me, or you will get singles all your life.

Yes, it was overrated shit too.

It wasn't, neither was Slayers, hence they were shit.

I'm sure a new remade versions of them will be better.

I wish autists who suck older animes dicks would engage in some form of pragmatism or critical thinking and realize there was just as much mediocre garbage 20-30 years ago as there was today. If you watched every single things that come out in one generation you'd hate it too and evangelize things that were before your time.

someone pls kill me

I respect your right to have shit taste.

implying you get cluuck if for 4 story even YU-NO don't really a other shit cuckold, there only other male is Masakatsu and Ryuuzouji AND i want to fuck them but this not the point there no cuck shit.

YU-NO had shit dialog tho

You want to fuck Ryuuzouji?

Nigger, it's nothing but lame jokes and slapstick and monster of the week bullshit. You liked those shitty shows because you were 13 and they probably had one of your first waifus.

Faggot, i was 20 back then, fuck now i feel old.

Just play the originals.

Technically there's no timeline where Kanna hasn't been prostituting herself before you meet her but that's why she's the worst girl, especially since the reason she did it was purely because she didn't want to live in an orphanage and needed the money to rent her studio apartment so she could live outside of social care. Also she's your daughter so why would anyone pick her for the postgame route and voluntarily cuck themselves anyway except for completions sake.

So you had shit taste as a young adult, good for you.

And yet she still has the most art on pixiv

nips love netorare

70s>80s=00s>60s>>90s

She has all the personality of NGE's Rei so it's no wonder they love her. Japs have no taste. No doubt they think they're "saving" her in her route, despite the prostitution being a decision she made herself purely to live in a swanky apartment.

This shit is why Anno feels no remorse shitting all over his own work to milk money from those idiots.

why are they gonna remake that nonsesic redundant text slideshow? Also audience nowdays will not like it.

What ever happened to that series? Was it a LN alongside a manga and anime?

ace combat holy trinity
make the superweapons some real shit while you're at it instead of the SOLG being boring unless you fly through the barrel and excalibur no longer being a threat once you reach it

Like when you'd expect the dog to jump through that window and instead the windows crack. This way you wouldn't know what to expect if you played the original.

It is functionally, mechanically, and graphically better than the original in every way. The original is too dated and cheesy to hold any scare value, while REmake's spookier elements hold up. It's an example of a remake done right.
Fuck off millennial retard, the game was $30 new.

I like the way you think.

It's still pretty good for a laugh though

YU-NO is more of an adventure game than a VN.

"It's a weapon, it's really powerful, especially against living things."
Barry will always be the best character in the series.

Fucking ruined it

Got no problem with remakes as long as its done right, that means building on what was there and no altering things cause current year.

...

...

Remakes should effectively be excellently modded versions of the originals. Fix the bugs, add new content without comprising the original game, and maybe include some developer commentary or behind the scenes stuff.

Fix bugs, graphic issues, remove arbitrary game play restrictions, and add more options and that's all the perfect game needs.

Sad thing is remakes could be good and used to make what the developers originally wanted but couldn't due to tech limits, but companies only remake popular things for more money because retards will by a hd version of an old game with shit mechanics

They can be good, but usally aren't. Also just loses the charm of the original.

Oh user…

how? thereare some timelines where you need items from other timelines and in some sections there is no way to get stuck because soemthing that you can interact is hidden or too subtle

Reboot is not a remake.

I don't know what you're asking.

All you have to do is use the jewel map properly. It lets you know where every divergence is.

No
Fucking
Shit
You
Pleb
Max

how did you figured out how too prossed, i played years ago and i remember that how painfull was a section where you enter on that mansion of that old lady.

barely remember that, maybe i just ignored it in the whole playthorugh

they need to stop

Might as well be.

I did mention in my post that I maxed out the game clock at 99 hours and 99 minutes, it did occasionally come down to clicking every pixel on the screen to find some horribly obscure event trigger.

Pic related. The game even makes a sound effect when there's a divergence so you know where to save your game and investigate.

They are almost without exception shittier than the original (vidya or film).

I suppose Tomb Raider Anniversary was fairly solid but I can't think of another vidya remake that didn't suck ass. Then again I can't think of all that many remakes.

Wow I haven't seen that pic in ages.

But that's exactly the point, there is 40 years of anime out there. Only watch the good ones.

I truly pity the people who watch every show. Only 2 or 3 good anime come out every season. The rest is mediocre at best.

Eh. I can enjoy both.

I think the new SBY and jojo's look better.

I love them.

Although remakes are usually considered shit, I don't think I've had much experience with them in vidya. I played HGSS and I thought it was better than the gbc games. The only other one was Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, which was also better. I didn't try the DS remakes for shadow dragon, but I hearrd they were mediocre.

The rest of the "remakes" I played were more like reboots, ie doom 3

Both look bad, but the left one's style is atrociously mutated while the right one is just lazy. If you honestly believe the older one looks good just because it is "older therefore better" you desperately need to participate in a Draino chugging contest with like minded fucktards.

Mutated ugly dogshit styles have always existed in anime, and so have decently stylized ones and ones emulating realism.

Get fucked.

There's definitely less nose detail in anime these days, whether the detail's important to the product or not. Even OP's YU-NO example shows how much flatter and less interesting things can get. Artists like Yoshitaka Tamaki, who used to do character designs (he also likes noses), now have to design monsters because apparently their old work's not appealing anymore. Obviously there's still artwork like this coming out of Japan, but you have to dig for it more and it's rarer at the forefront.

Also mad that Minako Iwasaki only seems to illustrate LN covers/inserts these days. She was gonna be Falcom's Kaneko for crying out loud.

What's that fourth image? It looks like Shining Force, but different in some ways.

FEDA: The Emblem of Justice. He was the lead developer on that game. It's no coincidence FEDA's a variation on Shining Force and other story wargames of the period. Tamaki seems to be working in the shadows for the moment.

Corpse Party Blood Covered is a good remake.

They're both very good games, although which one you like more probably depends on which story you like better. I believe they are both interesting.

The localized version uses a new engine though and I think that's why it runs like shit, for me at least. And let's be honest, they did it for the shekels, because the fan translation was doing fine with the original HSP.

Holla Forums - Video Games

Please no. It's only gonna get more butchered.

translation and disc 2 never forget

Resident Evil already had the director's cut edition on PS1 which changed the enemy placement/puzzles, and the Gamecube release of REmake certainly wasn't only $30. Enjoy rabidly defending yourself getting bent over by Capcom though. :^)

...

Isn't the translation considered really good? Besides the English voice acting, of course.

I pretty much agree with this.

I'm not okay with FFVII remake, but only because they changed the art direction. What I want is the exact same style the original was going for, but with technically better graphics. I absolutely do not want it to look more realistic than it did before, just higher poly, better shaders, etc.

In other words, make Nomura's original illustrations in the best 3D modern graphics can do and I'm happy. Change the style and its dead to me.

So is the original Dawn of the Dead by today's standards, but I bet you prefer the remake, don't you?

ps2 rena a best

ps2 best overall

Gonna come right out and say I'm a gigantic stupid faggot that has no idea how this link works. Would someone be so kind as to fill me in or at least point me in the right direction?

YOU CHECK THESE DOUBLES

Try removing one of the slashes.

I forgot how much I loved this person's artstyle. Replacing him with Tony Taka is probably Sega's biggest mistake for the Shining franchise.

All it had was the rearrange mode, it's like you ignored everything I said nigger.
Sounds like you got ripped off fam.

Why would I enjoy a shitty remake? I'm talking about a good one you shitposter. Horror matters in a game that's supposed to be scary. You can't do that with the brightly colored and lit mansion in the the first game, nor with it's voice acting that is funnier than anything. You get enough normalfags saying that "you only thought they were scary because you were young" while licking Crapcom's taint over RE5 and 6. Because the arrogant shits don't know what a dated product is.

Checked.

Remakes might become necessary but there is one thing that every remake must include: The original game with no changes. This should be an obligatory standard to me.

By definition you can't, if you port the game you have no guarantees it will behave the same as it originally did and emulation has it's own set of problems.

I think the Pier Solar PC remake did this.

If it runs on the same engine then it will run the same, they've ported all kinds of old games to new consoles.

Can I get some sauce on the second? It's nothing but Nipponese when I google image search and I don't see a free upload of the comic

I said changes. Like change the control scheme, changes on music, changes on gameplay…
I know I'm running at a different machine, bu c'mon, it's the current year! People can deliver a good emulator for pretty much everything.

Except XBOX and Saturn for some goddamned reason.

nvm I got it

Fucking trash.

Many in this thread are saying it was originally $50, including one guy whose account was made in '99 and another in '05. So yeah cheaper than what I said ($60) but definitely more than $30.
Well the thing is the original Dawn of the Dead looks like complete shit by today's standards. The zombies were literally just regular people with blue facepaint. But believe it or not it was truly scary in 1978.
Likewise RE1 was indeed scary in 1996 with what it offered at the time. And as for bad acting, there are certainly examples of older horror movies with this problem, but they are still good movies… classics in some cases. It is not completely experience-ruining like you're implying.
Honestly the way you are being overly harsh on the original RE1 is coming off as a little contrarian and tryhard.

A proper remake of the original game; Magicka 2 was a garbage sequel to Wizard Wars. All it needs is a few balance changes (not nearly as drastic as what Magicka 2 did) and vastly improved netcode.

Remakes are okay, but I feel they shouldn't be made unless they have a reason to be made. i.e. better technology allows mechanics to be implemented better, add somethings that got left out, make the game more enjoyable etc.

For vidya

The problem is that it's generally a very obvious riding of the coattails of the successful original only to many times destroy what made the original so great. It's also a very obvious signal that they can't make anything new as good as that particular game they are remaking and this hurts them with not only their fans but also investors.

As for animu.

Kanon needed its remake, honestly. A lot of animu does.

So…which of those games have bestiality scenes? And I don't mean catgirl and such, I do mean women or loli with feral beasts or beastman.

i think that the 90s style was better on being lewd, now most of the characters are high schoolers who look like pre-teens

consensual sex, right user?

...

If the engine is optimised for the new hardware then maybe. If you're expecting a game engine to behave exactly the same on two completely different consoles without some tweaking then you're a fucking moron.
Case in point; the Jak trilogy on Vita and Sanic Adventure (and probably Adventure 2) on PS3, both play differently on the newer systems to how they did on their original ones. An engine that's not properly optimised can also cause games to crash.

This

Of course…of course…

Your making anime then look really good
