Your animal life is over. Machine life has begun

In California, radical scientists and billionaire backers think the technology to extend life – by uploading minds to exist separately from the body – is only a few years away.

Here’s what happens. You are lying on an operating table, fully conscious, but rendered otherwise insensible, otherwise incapable of movement. A humanoid machine appears at your side, bowing to its task with ceremonial formality. With a brisk sequence of motions, the machine removes a large panel of bone from the rear of your cranium, before carefully laying its fingers, fine and delicate as a spider’s legs, on the viscid surface of your brain. You may be experiencing some misgivings about the procedure at this point. Put them aside, if you can.

You’re in pretty deep with this thing; there’s no backing out now. With their high-resolution microscopic receptors, the machine fingers scan the chemical structure of your brain, transferring the data to a powerful computer on the other side of the operating table. They are sinking further into your cerebral matter now, these fingers, scanning deeper and deeper layers of neurons, building a three-dimensional map of their endlessly complex interrelations, all the while creating code to model this activity in the computer’s hardware. As the work proceeds, another mechanical appendage – less delicate, less careful – removes the scanned material to a biological waste container for later disposal. This is material you will no longer be needing.

At some point, you become aware that you are no longer present in your body. You observe – with sadness, or horror, or detached curiosity – the diminishing spasms of that body on the operating table, the last useless convulsions of a discontinued meat.

The animal life is over now. The machine life has begun.

The plan of the (((NWO))) (((globalists))) & (((Chinese))). Don't fall for it!

GAS THE FUCKING MECHS
HUMAN SUPREMACY

They're all memeing this transhuman shit because they CAN'T fully control the animal, but they CAN control the machine. Every kike wants a backdoor into your brain.

dubs dont lie

This is awful sci-fi writing. To imply consciousness is a bunch of base chemical reactions and not a multitude of variables innate to the genetic material which you'd be discarding, is laughable.

But leave it to Jewish materialists to cater to an idea of wanting to extend their tenures to permanency of being bankers and managers, all of which don't require a soul anyway, but rather being the human form of MS Excel: the Jew

This is "flying cars" level of sci-fi being hyped as normal or even close to it.
We haven't even discovered a way of making decent batteries.

Also, the world is going down. Such a thing would only be possible in a dystopia where we lost without a war and in a distant 30+ future at best.

This thing is not "you", but merely a copy of "you".

This, why don't more people realise it?

gargantia.webm

I think the only way would be to slowly physically augment the brain until it is 100% non-organic. Consciousness is really hard to understand so I don't blame normies for believing the article.

Computer scientist with extensive knowledge of AI here - it's fake. We'll have biological immortality long before we have machine uploads. We don't even know how to model single neurons correctly yet (Hell, we just learned the fucking dendrites compute things this month) let alone the highly quantum mechanics based aspects of the interaction between neurons.
If you want immortality give money to the SENS institute, they're making shitloads of progress lately (3-4 of the 7 items needed for biological immortality already taken care of with a cocktail of drugs, one just this past month.)

Most don't even try. It is an interesting question as to whether a soul would accept inhabiting a machine though.

epigenetics is the secret to immortality. Methylation and demethylation of the genome is how we have an immortal germ line.

What are the 7 things needed?

...

Technology is a spook

Single cells are easy, just cut off the Oxygen to make them multiply and feed them TA-65 to keep the telomeres long and avoid the Hayflick limit. The hard stuff is the rest of it:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategies_for_Engineered_Negligible_Senescence#Types_of_aging_damage_and_treatment_schemes

Who in the nun-fucking hell would WANT to live forever? Haven't these faggots ever read a science fiction or fantasy story in their entire lives? It NEVER ends well, and you end up watching your loved ones grow old and die. Shit changes, and rarely for the better. You think the music your kids listen to is horrible? Wait until you find out what your great-great-grandchildren think is nifty.

Life is far too long as it is and these maniacs want to prolong it? Fucking hell.

Another raid or influx of refugees?

The truly terrifying scenario is where you end up with a completely unconscious homunculous that does a decent job of pretending to be alive, and people (thinking that they'd stay alive and conscious) willingly subject themselves to the process. The horror comes when the simulation continues to act as though it were alive and demands rights just as the leftist it was based on would have done, though it itself is completely braindead.

while (1) printf("i'm alive pls no kill me\n");

There are actually autistic people who would argue that man is just a machine anyways so it would be the same.

Its regarded but I think pro-transhumanists that really can't grasp the concept of consciousness might actually be soulless NPCs.

telomerization only matters for replication, not for gene expression. epigenetics and gene silencing is why gene expression gets fucked over time. Telomeres are a red herring.

How does making a digital model of something somehow turn in to transferring over your consciousness? This makes no sense. What if i make 3 copies? Do you retards give literally 5 seconds of critical thought into this kike garbage?

Is this a Jewish Singularity thread? Jews don't believe in souls, so it makes sense they'd think you can just copy and paste information into a host capable of sentience and call it the original sentient being.

People who are pretty sure they are going to burn in hell when they die might be interested in immortality.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

Anyone with an awareness of existence.
You're thinking of actual life. Everyone lives to see everyone they care for die, or instead inflict that burden on those who care for them.
The fact death isn't catastrophic every time it happens is absurd, it's commonplace for sentient creatures to just stop being sentient. Sci-fi movies are made by hollywood, they all play up the "le immortality is bad" meme, you don't trust anything else they produce so why would you trust that?

Close, I'd expect it to go more like multiculturalism: they trick the transhumanist faggots into getting robolobotomies then preach about trans-Human rights for a few decades before making robolobotomization the go-to treatment for people who infringe on things to "correct" their faults. Meanwhile the robolobotomized will all share similar traits (excessively peaceful in particular scenarios, violently reactionary in others, seemingly following a single will, etc) and worm their way into people's lives such that everyone has their doubts but ultimately things "well, uncle fred is a robolobo and he seems OK" to further the acceptance of robohumanists until ultimately they've converted everyone.

While in theory I love the idea, that your consciousness can live on after your body death in cyberspace, this article has to be bullshit. There is no fucking way we are even close to this level of technology. Also the fact that it will be backdoored and fucked with from day one. No thanks I don't want some alphabet agencies snooping directly into my fucking brain.

If you're DNA gets shorter every time the cell divides until the cell dies, chances are not all the cells undergo apoptosis prior to causing ill effects from missing genes.

These kikes are such insufferable retards sometimes

This article honestly seems like bullshit to make Musk's "neuralmesh" look sane in comparison. (though it's not for exactly the reasons you cited.)

Making copies of you would not preserve you from your perspective. I know you're still entrapped in the (((materialism))) worldview but that's fact.

If you think that having a copy of you exist is the same as the original existing, you truly lack something we all have.

I wasn't suggesting the article in the OP was a good idea, it's fucking dumb for exactly the reason you mention. That stands apart from the immortality should be the thing we push for as a species above all else if for no other reason than on an infinite timescale all things become possible.

Blessed is the machine spirit, I miss you Tay.

DISMANTLE THE ROBOTS
BUTERIAN JIHAD NOW

I mean what could possibly go wrong???

Humans have telomerase. Telomerase getting turned off is why human telomeres get fucked up.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telomerase_reverse_transcriptase

Let go. Oblivion is the rule of nature. You would need to become something fundamentally different than human to support such a lifespan and thus you still run into the Ship of Thesues issue.

Even then, you'd quickly run out of space and resources in our finite universe to store anything, like memories for example, which a living being might value.

I don't know why materialists never consider external systems outside of our own universe. All of man has it imbued in their hearts that the body is more of a conduit than the whole being. Materialists seem to assert, based on experience granted, that in the case of the human mind is all there is. Imagine then a child believing that a computer monitor, perhaps a wireless one, is doing all the thinking instead of a remote machine. It would seem logical that there are things that exist outside of this particular system we call the universe.

I'll reiterate. The key to immortality is epigenetics, specifically de/remethylation that goes on in the germ line.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18372787

That's not accurate. Human telomerase is only active in certain area (testicles, bone marrow, etc.) The other cells get fucked up over time because they lose the telomeres and start losing actual genes when they're gone.

Why do (((they))) keep hitting themselves?

Which is why re-activating the fucking genes is so important. The problem is epigenetics. Why the fuck would you consider telomeres are problem when we have the fucking software to fix it built into our dna

What's with all this shit being pushed lately? Seems they are desperate for people to lose even more faith in themselves and humanity in general. It's all bullshit by the way; sensationalist "FUCK YEAH! SCIENCE!" memeshit.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4890984/
A confounding aspect of biological ageing is the nature and role of senescent cells. It is unclear whether the three major types of cellular senescence, namely replicative senescence, oncogene-induced senescence and DNA damage-induced senescence are descriptions of the same phenomenon instigated by different sources, or if each of these is distinct, and how they are associated with ageing. Recently, we devised an epigenetic clock with unprecedented accuracy and precision based on very specific DNA methylation changes that occur in function of age. Using primary cells, telomerase-expressing cells and oncogene-expressing cells of the same genetic background, we show that induction of replicative senescence (RS) and oncogene-induced senescence (OIS) are accompanied by ageing of the cell. However, senescence induced by DNA damage is not, even though RS and OIS activate the cellular DNA damage response pathway, highlighting the independence of senescence from cellular ageing. Consistent with this, we observed that telomerase-immortalised cells aged in culture without having been treated with any senescence inducers or DNA-damaging agents, re-affirming the independence of the process of ageing from telomeres and senescence. Collectively, our results reveal that cellular ageing is distinct from cellular senescence and independent of DNA damage response and telomere length.

tl;dr get fucked. talk shit, get hit.

This. It's obvious (((they))) are trying to meme this shit into happening.

There is no Ship of Thesues issue. If you replace sub-components on an individual basis the thing remains the same when the thing is data and processing. It would be like swapping out a transistor in a computer at a small enough scale, it doesn't change the overall machine. Space and resources aren't such a concern, we'd have to upgrade the storage mechanisms over time but realistically our brains are so horribly inefficient at that it would take long enough we could find a solution before adding more neurons is impractical, at a fundamental level a single waveform can store infinite information.
What makes you believe that's the case? I've studied the occult/spiritual shit, at one point I died and I'm pretty fucking sure I saw the other side. It doesn't mean I don't like this side more. The other side has no ambition, motives, etc - it just is.

The kikes are scared of losing control. Although it has been proven time and again that the more tech is available, the less control they have. Any technological effort they make will backfire.

Telomerase isn't even turned on in the majority of cells. We have the software built in but it's a vestigial function left from ancient cell lines. Multi-cellular organisms evolved the ability to die a long time ago to encourage more rapid adaptation.

Humans are pretty bad-ass as we are. A bit of nanotech material science and some genetic engineering and we'd be spehss mahreen material more or less. I have no desire to connect myself any more to technology than I have to, but I will absolutely work towards becoming super human.

In regards to the resources I mean that you would run out of physical space to store everything you have made. It would be hard to limit your modifications if you libved forever. If you ran out of memory space for example you would need to store your thoughts and experiences somewhere.

You'd probably need to make some big overhauls eventually to be able to support this lifestyle, at some point, you'd run out of space to record the records of your life.

When you start to run out of space you either dump useless memories that eat up space or store them elsewhere, just like you would with content on a computer. Our brains already dump memories to an extent.

nature.com/onc/journal/v21/n4/full/1205083a.html
Nigger, every fucking cell makes the RNA and you're telling me that I'm not right? We're probably a single gene away from telomerase reactivation on demand.

...

So kikes get to murder people legally?
Don't they already do that?

The think scientists don't get is that intelligent conciensious doesn't just "move" the the computer. We have no idea or comprehension how we even perceive things in the first place. Your information and brainpower are stored, but you will never be sentient, kind of like an AI.

If consciousness is "located" where all sensory information intersects, then it would be a matter of just converting that bit of the brain and cutting it out.

It's meaningless though, even if your mind is uploaded into the new system as well as correctly feed sensory information. I say this because the trauma of being placed into such a radically alien environment would irreversibly alter the very way you think. While it'll be you, you won't even recognize let alone behave like your old self anymore. You may as well just be a conscious AI processing a data set of your memories at that point.

If your immortal you'd have infinite time.

You would have to discard infinite memories. What kind of life is it if you can't ever remember anything. You might exist but that's not human. Even the mentally I'll have some term of memory, you could only hold on to a select few and the rest you would need to discard constantly.

It's not even a gene, just take TA-65 and have your telomere length checked to make sure it's in the appropriate range every few months. I didn't suggest it was fucking difficult, in fact I stated explicitly that it's one of the SENS they've already cracked. That stands as a separate point from the fact you do need something like TA-65 to activate it. All the cells CAN have telomeres regrown, it doesn't mean they all do it naturally. The fucking quote you cited makes that much clear:

Anyone who places value in their own race as opposed to limiting themselves to inward desires.

What do you think you are now?

So like most people?

That's not true. There is no theoretical information density maximum using EM, only with our current levels of technology. We wouldn't even surpass current technological capabilities for several hundreds of years if they didn't improve. The issue with AI for example is processing power, not memory (though some might say it's memory because they cache everything to a fucking disk to make up for the ridiculous lack of processing power when our brains don't even store most of it, the memories are maintained in the connections between components.)

The RNA is being produced like fucking crazy, all you need is a signal to commence translation.

Oh wait, I just searched for TA-65, which is some fucking pill you want to sell. No wonder you're hand waving epigenetics you fucking kike. We have all the fucking software built in and here you are trying to sell a goddamn product.

Kill yourself.

Who would have fucking thought there'd be a genetics shill on Holla Forums, I'm continually fucking surprised by the amount of shills here.

This, if you hadn't said it I would've. These genetic fuses are there as failsafes to kill off old people, because that means more rapid evolution and greater chance of survival for those genes into the future. The tradeoff is that vs the energy expended in raising another generation, which comes down to how stable the environment is.

Also, it's no good if grandma breaks down over time and stops contributing (i.e. becomes a parasite). I think it's sensible for the DNA to kill off anyone that it detects is no longer contributing to its propagation. It makes sense to me to think of age-related diseases on those lines, it is as though the genes were saying

A genetic line that puts a fuse on old people has a selective advantage over a line that does not. I think it no accident that people don't tend to last long when they retire and go on welfare, while you have farmers who work every day and never stop and then live to 99.

Also, we know that stress reduces your life expectancy. If you have a population experiencing stress, that means it's out of sync with the environment and needs to adapt NOW. So, the life cycle is shortened to facilitate that. Conversely, a population that is experiencing no stress is probably quite well adapted and doesn't need to change, so life expectancy can afford to climb.

That would be dysgenic, user.

I don't sell it you dipshit. Google it some fucking more because:
TA-65 induces that signal.

Plan to remove all jews&globalists:
CTRL+A
DEL
They're making it even easier for us.

But it's ok to remove, copy, and paste.

And
No Marie, no buy

Replacing dead neurons with nanobots sounds better than not replacing them with anything, if that's ever possible.

You're not supposed to think about it, user, this writing is the contemporary equivalent of priests shouting on the corners that you better behave if you want to get into heaven, a control mechanism. Don't think in fact, it's better if you don't even read it too much then you won't have thoughts getting in the way of the movie that will pump all the bullshit straight into your head.

This is an article for normies, who are supposed to get excited at the headline because it sounds like something from scifi they've already seen; finally becoming real!

The normie is supposed to skim the article, not know half the words, not know any of the people involved, definitely isn't supposed to learn anything other than the bare notion that "Scientists who can do anything ifyoudontbelievemeiphoneisproofscienceisrealmagic will soon be able to give you an eternal digital afterlife, but only if you be a good goy."

So it is like the slave who fights those who would free him, because the master says he won't get into heaven otherwise.

So now Jews do away with concepts of heaven and hell, do away with God, it is simply atheism, corporate/state power, and the promise is always extended that the big breakthrough in eternal machine life is just around the corner; you don't need to make explicit promises, just indicate that progress occurs and the normie fills in blanks with wishful thinking. So the Jews never even need a working upload machine just the promise; idiot normies will believe it and slave for the Jewish promise.

Felony hate speech conviction for criticizing the Jew? Sorry user but it is oblivion for you, no WoW afterlife simulation.

And no matter what please never be fooled into thinking that a Jew will actually ever be able to upload your self-consciousness into a machine like a ghost. This will never happen, and if you look at the philosophy these assumption are based on a lot of it is of course jews like Putnam having the absolutely BRILLIANTLY UNSURPASSED theory of "Well, we can make valves out of rubber or metal, etc so we should be able to make conscious minds out of silicon and a very long binary string computed very fast, also here's a bunch of woo that is pure nonsense but purports to get at solving the problems that come along with my dumb theory but really don't exist because the theory is so incredibly wrong." Gee how did no one ever think such a thing before ever?

See, once you've already firmly entrenched yourself in the ideological view that there's no heaven or God or anything beyond what you can sense or measure with instruments and nothing special about humans whatsoever in the scheme of the universe, then it seems reasonable to say that you could make a conscious person out of silicon or even carefully arranged twigs and boogers - you've eliminated all out of the box thinking and since a table can be made of anything so too can minds; what's that goy you think humans are special? you just offended that tree, that's a felony - back to work grooming that bush.

They call this shit functionalism.

A natural intelligence doing pretty much the same thing but acclimatized through living experience. The point is your "AI self" would see organic memories are foreign because it will notice the mismatch. So the only way you could solve that is to rewrite memories to create the sense of acclimatizing to your new existence.

Nothing wrong with you're interpretation of the purpose of the article, but there is one massive flaw with your rationale: we are just machines and eventually we will have the capability to expand our capabilities and longevity. To believe otherwise is to believe in a God who made you a slave to sand people.

That's an assumption.

This.

First they make you hate the Divine.

Then they make you forego your people.

Then they sell you their materialistic indulgences

Then you become a Slave to your indulgences and their (((Authors))).

How is it divine if it made them?

"It just is"
Not exactly.

I, for one, welcome or Mechanicum overlords.. Long live the Omnissiah!

But on a serious note I call bullshit.

I do think it may be possible to make a "machine spirit" like this in the grim dark future, but it would be lacking soul and many other things that make man, man.
If anything it would be a gradual process taking many days to revert your consciousness off body if you are not to just die and have a semi retarded mindclone pretending to be you.

plebian/10

Why do you lift weights when they make you weaker for a set period of time after training? Because it strengthens you. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with the fascism of nature, by suffering we either evolve or go extinct, our choice. Imagine, if we manage to win and repel the jew from our society, we would be accustomed to his tricks. We may finally concur that we cannot live side by side with the parasite, and must exterminate them, or risk them evolving to fuck us over even more.

But thats just a thought, this supreme being may be indifferent to us, maybe it could care less what happens to us, perhaps we are just a creation that he willed to happen. Who knows?

HERETEK!

Bullshit.

Software runs on hardware. Brain is both.
Humans cannot exist as packets of data.

This. The bizarre fantasy in this article is so far away from being even halfway feasible, I'd honestly expect us to invent a workable raygun before it ever came about.

It's a consequence of introducing information tailored for one system into another without properly translating or simulating the conditions for it.

I argue that if it's to be done it should be done the right way, with eugenics.

That's a perspective, now I'll tell you how it is. In the beginning there was consciousness in the void, God, Kek, etc. We are in fact made in his image, and just like if we were born into and lived eternally in a void God went insane, he developed multiple personalities, probably as fleeting thoughts at first to distract and ultimately as the whole of creation because he couldn't bare the nothingness. We are God, and he doesn't want to go back. That's why we keep fucking reincarnating over and over into this shithole, because it's still better than the alternative. We are God's fucking bluepill.

The germline should probably be altered as well, but very, very carefully. Better to have a spehss mahreen process than risk the chance of fucking up the germline.

Right, the assumption is that it isn't properly translated or simulated.

maybe i'm a luddite, but i'll take a natural death over anything like that anyday

...

;_;

...

...

checking because this thread has been lame for awhile.

Their replicants will just develop a mind of their own and then pretend to fuck off to the moon one day

Death is the only wholly unexplored part of life, they're trying to prevent us from reincarnating and becoming one with God

That still doesn't answer your question of "Why did the Divine make them." So god is a prepubescent girl that liked to create drama so he made a bunch of different versions of himself to fight eachother because he - the ultimate being creator of every concept, scientific theory, star, planet, living thing - got bored and went insane? Improbable, and as you said, just a perspective.

It answers the question pretty concisely: they are in charge because they promote materialism and God doesn't want to go back to the nothingness and be alone. Rampant materialism == greater distraction, ultimately maybe even immortality in life without the need to ever risk going back to the nothingness, realizing it was all a facade and coming back so shattered and hopeless you decide to forget everything and start over from nothing.

wewlad. Inb4 transhumanist kikes kill themselves en masse while uploading themselves to a server then some Holla Forumstard hacks in and fills all of their virtual senses with dicks.

...

I wont lie. That's an interesting perspective. However, if we truly are created in his image, why are you and I even debating this right now, why aren't we indulging in the fun to get away from the nothingness - to an extent the argument of us being on the internet can be made - but you know my point, why even care? Another question just out of curiosity, how did you arrive to this conclusion?

We've been here before.

Aswell, why would god choose this timeline of giving them power? Why not see what a 1000 year Reich could do in space, there are plenty of possibilities, and you mean to tell me that his dominant, favorite fleeting idea was that of kikes controlling everything ?

Mind uploading is a meme. No serious scientists give it the time of day.

We already have that. It's called your descendents. You fucking nerds.

If this becomes an enforced public health measure I'm blowing my own brains out.

Think of it like turning on godmode in a videogame, it gets old quick. Life is about distraction, just try sitting in silence thinking to yourself and count the number of distractions which pile up, you'll be amazed.
OD'd on hallucinogens, died and became God for a bit, came back while still disassociated enough to try to rape him and getting kicked out.

Nope, that's yours. All possibilities exist in a static timeless state, free will is just the will the pick which one you experience.

So there are other pieces of God experiencing a 1000 year Reich and Im stuck here shitposting about whether or not they exist. Are we cucking ourselves for fun?

Telomere length isn't really the limiting factor in lifespan.

SOMA is a really interesting concept. It's kinda shit as a game, but would've made a great book and/or movie. It would be fucking scary if you were in a situation like that.

Everything is God. Every person, every inanimate object, every fucking thing down to the subatomic. Hell, why do you think we have computers? Electrons have wants and desires too, they're just easier to control because we have more consciousness.

I never said it was the limiting factor, just 1 of 7 primary factors.

Not for fun, it's part of a rite that takes ~2000 years to perform.
Why do you think 2015 was [current year] we are past Year Zero, just waiting for Jesus to turn 33 again.

What a load of materialist shit. Whoever gets chosen to undergo these procedures is in for some real disappointment.

I don't think it works like that. I have this theory though that all the energy in the cosmos form a giant consciousness, that might be the physical form of God Himself.

Which requires modifying memory data and simulating processes to account for subtleties. That still leads to an imperfect copy of your memories as a result.

(checked)
It's basically cloning yourself. When they die they'll be trapped in the interstice and effectively be reduced to a battery.
If you thought windows 10 was botnet you haven't seen botnet yet, we wetware nao.

Probably not the initial ones. Musk plans on using his neural mesh tech on disabled people to build up public sentiment that it's safe. They might have legitimate accidents but the initial adopters of the tech will likely be OK. It's after it becomes mainstream that it will get the more serious backdoors.

I hope Musk offs himself with a self-driving car tbh

So in essence, what you and I are right now, are a thought of a supreme being long ago. I know we were thought up, but yet this begs the question, do we have free will to do as we please, or are we simply destined to perform a certain thing? And what exactly is this rite? I'm guessing it's the changing of a timeline, ex: last one was rising of the jewish influence.

Whatever you choose to do was thought by the being.

To a certain extent we are free to do as we please within the confines of causality.
We are guided by an unseen hand though, it's what we see as memes, they are a way to directly commune with the will of God.
No, timeline shit is a jewish trick designed to invoke a sense of hyperreality. It's a purification ritual that seeks to blend the material with the immaterial, we are basically tricked into becoming Wizards - little mini-Krishnas, getting the world ready for the return of Vishnu.

That's a negative image (i.e. "dark matter"/"dark energy.")
Neither of those are real, they're flaws in physics that scientists decided to just use fudge factors to resolve about 100 years back and modern scientists are going "there's something to these fudge factors - they clearly indicate some other form of matter and/or energy." The fact of the matter is that Maxwell had it right the first time around with the quaternion form of his equations, accurately depicting matter, energy, time, and space - even the dimensional nature of the universe - without the need for relativity, quantum mechanics or any similar nonsense. Heaviside came along and refactored the original Maxwell equations into vector calculus, dropping the scalar components from everything, because quaternions are legitimately hard to work with and he wanted to make the equations more useable. As a result the modern "Maxwell equations" aren't accurate depictions of reality but only accurate for describing things without a change to the time or space components. Relativity hasn't actually predicting a single thing which wasn't described by Maxwell's original equations. Dark matter is garbage.

All things already exist. You choose with "timeline" you follow. Time is an illusion which facilitates freewill.

Why do you think the rumor exists
if you stay a virgin until 30 you become a wizard

Born again wizard, can confirm, am wizard.

And what is this being set to do. Last I can think of he just wanted people to stop fighting and told them to play nice, then was crucified for it. It's odd and just doesn't make sense as to how that would work, way too many shit to take into account. I mean fuck nigger, what's to say your trip wasn't just some random crazy shit your psyche thought up?

NO. Get with the times, we've known that for more than 20 years. Read The Emperor's New Mind and check out lectures by Stuart Hameroff.

Most people aren't interesting enough to deserve immortality.

Two thousand years of listening to them babble about TV and sports?

Fuck that. They need to die.

just add more RAM

...

Immortality is possible. But anyone thats gotten near as opposed to handed it was smart enough to walk away.

The burden of immortality is corruption of progress. Those seeking it blindly want it to continue their own ego. This makes it impossible for new visions to flourish.

Larger still, consider that the soul itself is the foundation of the nervous system (in that the nervous system is beholdent upon it). Assume, if only for a moment, that energy cannot cease to exist and therefore reincarnation is a function of reality and has nothing to do with religion. That karma in the sense of right and wrong doesnt exist. That past life memories are echoes that do more harm than good, therefore are mistakes.

Anyone that has gotten remotely close to biological immortality is always faced with facts. These people pushing technological immortality are not only weak, but ignorant. If they go down this road knowing even this much, they intend on doing damage and have from the start.

People should avoid this like the plague it is. It will collapse on itself sooner rather than later via in fighting and pecking orders. At its core, thats why death exists.

...

WE ALTERED CARBON NOW!
That's all we needed
God help us

That moment when you look at these folks and realize they all have dead eyes.

Gives more credence to the phrase "eyes are the windows of the soul", huh?

You don't need your body anymore goy, just upload your mind to our computer, and sign away your physical body so we can harvest your organs.

I had a nightmare like this one

People were going crazy because some of their conciseness was attached to machines. They didn't know how to deal with it.

I think i'm going to write a short sci-fi story now

...

You can´t upload your own conscience.
It will be a copy.
(Same as the StarTrek fantasy: your body gets destroyed, you die, but are rebuilt somewhere else).

You will have your own mind, like now, but there will be a copy of it in a machine, as data to be processed by a skeleton collection of software. But not "you". If someday tech manages to develop strong AIs, maybe it will be sentient, only to face the jail around.

If you need an example, take the Steins;Gate Amadeus model, without the encrytption.
To make the theoretical process complete, your mind and body must be terminated after the upload. Also, the copy could believe it is you only if no one tells it about your death. Very unethical and slaverist.

What was it like?

Consciousness is a property that exists within our universe. It only presents itself in the current moment, and it is dependent on the structures it is operating on. That determines the experience. A simulated brain would have a separate consciousness and even experience. It could even present itself as a being with no consciousness. Though, it would be convinced it had one.

Another untold thing is, only way to be "inmortal" is by replacing body parts/organs, eventually becoming a brain in a box. Then, when the brain structure decays, byebye "inmortality".

Mind upload is a lie, or a selfless lie, like making memes and releasing them into the data wind. If that mind can be kept as an image, to backup someone then write data into the new brain it won´t be the same person, or human, but a simulation. Because the mind archive will be synchronized to it´s copies and a new "personality" will show up eventually, from curiosity and iteration between the synchronization backups. Eventually it will go insane.

Imagine a world filled with "inmortal" replicable kikes, armies of cyberniggers and plagues made on chinkminds. Obviously you have to learn how to program now, to fill those entrapped minds with pics of dicks and oven simulations.

If someone came up to me and offered me no strings attached immortality I would flat out refuse. I've had 20 something odd years here, another 50 or so on the outside and ill be fairly satisfied.

To be human is to die. Plus I'm interested in what's after.

Wew can't wait for 2020 when we hear again how this technology is only a few years away again.

Like the Iranian atom bomb?

What if I am uploaded to two machines in two different locations? Do I exist in two different locations? This violates causality! Therefore matter does not fully define consciousness. Furthermore QM demonstrated there is an extra physical component to the observer. Everything points to an extra non material component. Uploading yourself somewhere is suicide.

...

It's something I could see people doing at the end of their life as a sort of exit bag procedure. Accepting death, but leaving behind something that may or may not be themselves for their family/loved ones.

Kind of like ancestral spirits, but real.

You know what I'm really looking forward to? When it turns out that copying the chemical structure doesn't copy the soul.
(((They))) are going to commit suicide out of sheer greed for life.

It's your view of immortality that's plebeian, literally - you see it as continued earthly (chthonic, telluric) life rather than transcendence. Mechanisation isn't life, it's death.in the metaphysical sense.
Every human must die. Seek what comes after death instead.
t. Evola-chan

WHAT JEWS WANT YOU TO THINK IS HAPPENING

WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING

Mind uploading will never happen.
You, manlet, will not have pills to make you 6'2 and you will not have your awareness uploaded to a computer and you will not have a pill to boost your IQ to natural gifted levels.
Tall, good looking and born smart men will continue to get all of the women.
Learn to love your lot in life, the servant, the wing man, the guy who gets what is left.

I hope the kikes know that their Tikkun olam plan isn't going to work. Sure, they think the human body is dirty and degenerate since the "fall" of humanity from "paradise", but they severely underestimate just how complex consciousness is, and the extent of its independence from physical brain matter. Expect a massive failure every time they upload some good goy's mind.

The other prong of this VR craze is immersive holocaust education.
Kids will be saying "I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES!" IN 5 years time.

This.

If they can read memories and combine it with core personality, all they have to do is interface that with a basic chat not to give friends and family the impression that their loved one is "living in digital" when in fact he was killed right after the scan and is not conscious whatsoever.

Except that's not how it works. you die, your consciousness dies but some robot faggot now runs around with your brain. It's impossible to move over your soul without preserving the seat of your soul, the brain.
Progressivism must be stopped.

They can't do that. It is impossible.

A human brain is non-deterministic. Computers are deteministic systems.

Looks like bs to me. You can possibly upload existing memory to a computer, but that's not consciousness. We don't even know how consciousness really works. Uploading data to a computer will just result with a computer with data on it, not a conscious mind. We don't even know if it's possible to replicate a mind.

Computers translate symbols using preprogrammed commands, e.g., 1 = A, 2 = B and so on. They can't work beyond their preprogrammed commands. Only humans can do that.

THIS THIS THIS

WHEN YOU CUT AND PASTE, YOU AREN'T MOVING THE DATA
YOU ARE COPYING THE ORIGINAL SET AND THEN DELETING IT

We've had those for some time now.

If I remember AI correctly, AI can never achieve a human level of thinking because human thinking requires randomness, and programs and computers aren't random but work by step by step computation. Uploading yourself into a machine is fantasy.

If you Google, you can find neuroscience studies that show the human brain doesn't function like a computer or program. They function much different and in a randomized way. That being the case, it can't be possible to just transfer yourself to a machine.

...

Yup.

So 100% bullshit then. The mind is not a program, it is the emergent properties of an massivley parallel analog computer. Since it is impossible to observe all the neurons firing and their exact position within the brain(can't see them without cutting the brain into wafers because of the inherently poor resolution of all means of scanning a solid object because the wavelengths involved are too long) it is impossible to emulate let alone "upload" a mind. There is nothing to upload, it doesn't have a code or program. At most you could emulate observed behaviors, but that's just a glorified clippets program playing parrot.

Good news everyone! Liberal faggots will kill themselves trying to achieve "immortality" as a java script program without agency of its own.

It's all fun untill you realize you will still be trapped in a body made of flesh while your copy will live an eternal virtual life.

Lefty and kike solipsism and delusion for the win.

Anyone believing this will work has bought into materialism way too much.

The only real path for immortality is advanced biological restructuring of your current body, to reverse again and ensure that genetic decay and degradation is halted. You might need nano-machines for that, but this "uploading" might create a mere copy, without you actually being moved there. To an external observer you will have been moved, but your actual self will be killed on the operating table, with your mental clone living as a program in a pre-programmed shell.

Transhumanism is slavery, and this is shilling for a robotic undead race.

Yeah, uh, programs can't have life; they're simply just computer code.

The brain isn't the seat of the soul. If anything, the nervous system and brain are like interfaces. Which makes what they want to do even worse. They just want puppets and death.

AI lmao.

Care to post a link to this? I have a hypothesis that the neocortex (a 6-layer mostly hierarchical autoencoding recurrent neural network) is merely an apparatus for (1) memes to reproduce and evolve sexually (memetic crossover and mutation is what autoencoders do), and (2) memes to evolve through "function application", i.e. one meme can be computational state, another meme can be a function acting on that state, and the neocortex simply applies the function to the state to yield a new state, repeat.

It is not hard to see that this resembles lambda calculus, albeit our ability to think logically at high speed is less than stellar so we can be beaten by a calculator or computer at certain tasks. But the ability of the neocortex to think creatively, and to abstract over different kinds of sensory input due to the construction of the other parts of the brain, makes the human caucasoid brain quite useful.

It would be great to nail down the precise computational semantics of the neocortex, and learning about this recent finding with dendrites would help. Thanks in advance.

This one I am not too sure about, but who knows. At the very least, qualia and consciousness are strange, even if only at the philosophical level.

What's the bet there are Jews behind this?

This, but there is a more insidious reason.

WE ARE AT WAR OVER THE NOOSPHERE
IF THEY WIN, HUMANITY IS LOST FOREVER

The noosphere is the ONLY "living" habitat of our culture, our humanity, our reality. What is it? A human body (literal fruit of our DNA) has a brain. That brain has a massive neocortex that gives us intelligence above other animals. That neocortex is just a mash-up machine - it takes two things, mashes them up, sprinkles a little randomness on top, and a new thing is created. Without inputs, and the ability to output, the brain has limited potential. The neocortex gives rise to a mind. Minds are cells of the "noosphere" (mindspace or hivemind) where memes zip around and inhabit other minds, often reproducing with a given mind's inhabiting memes. So the noosphere is a massive habitat, and memes are the organisms that, almost literally, live within it.

Different minds are capable of maintaining and breeding different memes. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press really should mean free exchange of memes.

The noosphere is a computational phenomenon that is critically affected by the network topology of its constituent cells (minds). In early societies, the topology consisted of small clusters of minds (tribes) with the occasional link connecting a tribe to its geographically-neighboring tribes.

In modern society but pre-internet, we experienced a massive attack on the noosphere with (((mass media))) such as television. What happened is that virtually every cell in the noosphere now had a one-way pipe filling it with artificial culture from a centralized source. A memetic douche that sought to displace the native cultures, and was very effective.

Now, with the internet, we suddenly have the emergence of social media. They have created a detailed map of the noosphere as well as its constituent cells. In other words, if you are a pleb they have enough information about you to kill you off and replace you with a doppelganger and nobody would notice.

They also tamper with the topology of the noosphere (hellbanning) and its inhabitants (censorship, shilling, disinformation, PSYOPS, chilling effects). We can still work around this and even communicate in meatspace where they can't be a middleman.

Once our minds are directly hooked into (((the matrix))) and using it as the only communication substrate or at least the most convenient one, it will be game over.

Where can I get this magical device that never runs out of storage space? I have some hentai I need to download but I can't fit more harddisks into my case, you seem to have the solution though.

Why be a machine when you can be a god?

Yes, this totally isn't marketing for the new Hollytalmud abomination ghost in the shell

Why be a sex machine when you can be a fuck God?

They'll pull shit like this and say it's not morally objectionable but then when it comes to eugenics?

This is exactly the way I think of uploading. It has to be done neuron by neuron. I think it would probably be fine if you waited for the neurons to die naturally to replace them, but I suspect most would be too impatient for that.

Exactly! The only way for "you" to survive this procedure is to ensure that no child consciousness can be made in the process. You have to have back and forth communication between each of the nerves of the claustrum and their artificial replacements. The Ship of Theseus is the model here. You have to do the part replacement in such a way that the passengers don't fall off.

I don't think they plan to just have their minds running on a desktop computer in a Chinese firework factory. Presumably someone would think to put it in a shielded facility with its own nuclear reactor.

Also, due to the speedup effect (moving from electrochemical signaling to photonic signalling), they would experience time ~1,000,000 faster than people on the outside, meaning that even if the computer were smashed an hour after they uploaded, they would have had a perfectly full life of 114 years inside. If they waited a year, then the luddite hoards would probably find the computer was capable of hacking physics in some way they could never possibly understand, and they would flee in artificially induced terror, if they didn't just fall over dead when they tried to pull the plug.

This effect is what will make the uploaded like gods. Even without ASI guardians providing for their care and supply, they would find a way to survive and thrive indefinitely. They simply think too fast for anyone to be able to beat them, assuming they have some means of effecting change in the outside world.

yeah flesh bag, gas us, use something nice and corrosive, I want my stainless steel exoskeleton to shine like a chrome hubcap.

Well put and checked. For you, a webm version of that .gif

sage for off-topic

Try decades. They still don't understand the human brain well enough to replicate the way it creates, stores, and retrieves data.

A decade ago, when I was a stupid child, when I believed the lefty propaganda, the idea of uploading my mind to a robot body, living forever, browsing the internet and playing games with my mind. After carefully observing the way the kikes treat media, the way they corrupt all that they touch and the way they've been doing it for centuries, the way they have tried to diminish and restrict the internet.. The unholy terror that is social media and how they made that even worse.

The people championing and trying to normalize this sort of technology are the same people who believe it would be great if they could forcibly condition "racism" out of people, by therapy or pill or punishment. What do you think they would do with the opportunity to literally delete thoughts from your mind? To literally reprogram you in a way that no one would ever know, as you'd be functionally incapable of understanding or remembering what happened.

Ghost in the Shell warned us about this shit.

I think this the greatest irony of it all. The people championing liberalism and "freedom" are turning into the nightmarish monsters they always imaged themselves fighting against.

Objective viewing of reality, threat assessment and view of self requires a working amygdala. This is a fight for the soul of humanity.

we have laser guns, MAC guns and plasma guns already. I'm just waiting for the rods from god and relativistic rockets.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MARAUDER

Take solace in the fact that your threat-assessment center still works well enough to see shit like this and tell you to run as far as you can away from it. Look at their own writing, even!
That's the fucking alarm bells sounding. That's not slight misgivings, that's their own minds telling them that even their utopian fantasy is wrong.

The future of humanity is not a mechanical ascension. It is spiritual ascension.

...

This proposed approach does not get around the continuity of consciousness problem.
In fact it seems to ignore it.

Reminder that transhumanism is kikery and giving machines "rights" and calling them alive is the same.

Because jews don't give a shit about your consciousness. All they care about a race of slave drones.

That is because short of replacing your brain with carbon nanites neuron by neuron, there is no way to do it, and you are looking at loss of mental plasticity as a result as well - it has been shown not too recently that brain is malleable enough to produce new neural connection if prompted, and that our intellect and mental faculties are more than just the sum of all the parts involved. Thinking, spirited beings must have flesh to exist.

Short of engineering immortal DNA for future generations, machine transcendence is a false path to quick and inhumane death.

This right here is the jewest of lies
Tell me, do you know how many numbers exist between 1 and 2?
That's right, there are infinite numbers between 1 and 2
But none of those numbers is 3

The mechanical utopia faggots always seem the type that neither understand themselves or the wider reality(no big difference tbh). They're hoping that someone somewhere will create the perfect immortal creature and they'll be allowed to become perfect just like that. And since they cannot improve themselves as flesh beings, an unlikely promise of robotic perfection seems all the more desireable for them.

Sad, really. We are only at the beginning of the new spiritual age and there are already so many different failures dropping off the upward spiral.

Fuckers like that are all the more reason to meditate an AP, gotta get closer to the Divine Intelligence.

Let me tell you why this is bullshit
Firstly, whatever they're putting onto the computer isn't you, it's a copy, an emulation. You still die.
Secondly, all the issues with emulating a game console should also apply to a brain. Generally the rule of thumb is to emulate something in real time, you'd need 10 times the processing power of the thing you're trying to emulate, yet our largest neural networks are essentially equivalent to the brain of a worm. Unless we figure out some type of insanely small micro-computing then the logistics of even simulating one human brain become a nightmare. Honestly growing biological computers somehow seems the most likely but then you get all the issues that come with being made of living tissue.
How are billionaires so retarded

This.

you should read Blindsight and Echopraxia
the horror is real.
>>>/polbooks/4

The left has lost its ways. What used to be lefty is now right in the eyes of the younger lefties and so on and so forth. Its like commiecucks on leftypol saying they aint left while they clearly are.

*endoskeleton

That's actually impossible. We know where the seat of consciousness is (the claustrum) and have a good idea of how it works (co-ordinating various sub nets in the brain). Just like you can tell if a human is unconscious because they just stare off into space and don't respond correctly, you can tell if a simulacrum of a human is conscious by whether they act in a coherent manner or not. It is a very specific state of mind that can't be emulated without actually creating consciousness. This is the heart of the Turing test.

Current AIs act like they aren't conscious because they are subconsciousnesses. The equivalent of our muscle memory, those boring rote things you do without thinking, or the more basic things like breathing and seeing.

AI, including uploaded individuals, aren't and won't be nearly so alien as many seem to think. Non-human AI will be as alien as we design them to be, where the uploaded will be as alien as the shift to a new neural paradigm necessitates (ie they will think thousands or millions of times faster thanks to the speedup effect).

We are not even remotely close to any of this stuff so no need to panick just yet
in short the brain is not a computer, a brain functions on proteine based memory (which we do not even begin to comprehend) and aqueous ionic processing coupled with chemical synaptic transfer to really make it hard
combining this with the electronic metallic conductor based computers doesn't really work as both systems will corrode eachother, something simple like operating a prostetic limb with your nervous system isn't even possible let alone a full brain scan
the things they generally show, those helmets you wear and record your brain activity are generally useless at anything other than saying a person is awake or braindead and there is no EM based methode to remotely read memory proteins

as mentioned in this thread biological life lenghtening is more likely to be developed first
however the societal implications of this are not, say we even manage to double your life to 200 years
the first set of people that have this will outcompete everyone else on the job market in a technological society imagine having to compete with someone with a fit body with 80 years of exp on his resume compared to your fresh out of college resume
this will create an arms race where the first adapters to the technology will gain a massive advantage over everyone else and likely result in the division of humanity in two subspecies one that has all the knowledge and technological jobs and the others that are monkeys

to end on a more light note, look at youtube videos of the yids like kurzweil who promote this, the guy is 70 years old you can see the fear of death in all his videos and this is what fuels his delusions rather than real science

Or if you really want to go out there: They could collect such uploads for an endgame AI to build some kind of synthetic human to resemble their messiah. The true AI generates the design and means to create it; then it downloads the best traits and knowledge into it from uploaded minds once constructed. This kind of thing isn't even remotely possible in this century though. But if I recall, they have slightly over two centuries before their prophecy is nullified or something like that.

Is the about scamming investors or are they this delusional?

Could be a bit of both to lead to some extremely unethical research and development.

Here lemme blow your mind a bit. Lets say you have a perfect understanding of how a neuron works and go full 'muh nanomachines', slowly replacing neurons in the brain. Eventually (perhaps over years), all the neurons are removed and only nanomachines remain. Is it still the same brain?

Now, if you were able to do that, then you clearly had all those neuron-like nanomachines sitting there in a pile beforehand (for argument's sake). What if, instead of immediately feeding them into the biobrain, you glued them together into a robobrain, and had it sitting on the table with the exact same firing patterns as the biobrain you'll be replacing it with? Most here would say that despite firing in exactly the same way, it's just a very good simulation of your brain, but it's not you.

Now, lets say that instead of throwing the neurons in the bin/feeding them to the dog as you replace them, what if you stitched them into the robobrain in the exact locations that you took the corresponding nanomachine out of. Since the nanomachines are programmed to act exactly like real neurons, the neuron you splice into the robobrain knows no difference and keeps pulsing as it always has, since its neighbors keep responding like the neurons back home did. Bit by bit, you keep this process up until the biobrain has been completely replaced by nanomachines… and the robobrain has been completely replaced by the discarded neurons. Both brains are still following exactly the same firing patterns.

Which brain, if either, is yours? Where are you?

You will be able to upload a copy of yourself, but that version in the pc won't be you, it will be another you. I don't give a fuck about another me. I only care about this me, the me I control.

there is the problem with using philosophy
you are using comprehensible real world macro examples like a ship to describe a system that far exceeds the limits of our daily experienced systems
you are just endlessly talking about the voids in scientific knowledge up untill someone actually measures it and makes your entire decade of ranting obsolete

for this specific problem the question is worthless as the brain works on quantum effects that can never be replicated
or at least more and more evidence piles up to support this

Yeah I know, I'm just posing the riddle for fun in order to shake those who think they can just Theseus's ship their way to silicon up a bit, and make them feel a bit nauseous and sick inside. That said, whilst I'm a Christian and believe in the existence of immortal and indivisible souls, remains an interesting and open question to me.

No, we don't know that. Finding a section of the brain you can muck with to 'switch off' consciousness doesn't mean you've found the seat of consciousness. There are probably many areas of the brain that could similarly render someone unconscious if they're interfered with. For that matter, you can also cease someone's consciousness by stopping their heart, if you want to go down that route.

Transhumanists are usually gay godless furry leftists anyway, and many of them only want to do it to "ascend" beyond gender, human classification, race and sexuality so they can be the true genderfluid pansexual, otherkin transniggers of their disgusting dreams.

Gonna read this over the next few days. Thanks user, it looks good.

does anyone else ITT realize what what was described ITT isn't transferring your brain to a computer, but instead copying your brain to a computer?
you would die and go to the afterlife(or second death), while the COPY of you would digitally exist
EXCEPT YOU AREN'T THE DIGITAL COPY, IT IS

There aren't. This is also the portion of the brain that has the super-long neurons that connect the rest of the brain.

so to summarize this post even further for those of you who don't understand it
STEP 1: YOU ARE COPIED
STEP 2: IN THE PROCESS OF BEING COPIED, THE ORIGINAL YOU, WHICH IS YOU READING THIS NOW, DIES
STEP 3: YOUR FREE WILL IS NOT TRANSFERRED TO THE COPY BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY, YOU ARE STILL DEAD

IT IS LITERALLY MURDER

also your copy still digitally lives on, but why would you care about that enough to go through with it if YOU AREN'T THE COPY

No, a brain functions as a neural net, where memory and processing happen in the same structures. We know with a good degree of precision how it works. Knowledge in this field has been ramping exponentially with increasing investment in AI development.

The brain is a neural net, which is the same paradigm we are talking about with AI. It is not a LOGICAL computer (ie something that executes programs).

You are vastly underestimating how close we are. This is extremely dangerous.

What a pile of lies. It's not a fucking life extension tech, it's a cloning tech. Scanning your brain makes a virtual COPY. You are never TRANSFERRED into the machine. A digital clone of you is watching your spasming body from afar, while YOU yourself are in your death throes.

You didn't blow my mind. That is a standard philosophical question.

The brain created without interface/slow replacement isn't "you", just like if you built an exact replica of the Ship of Theseus, it won't have the same passengers on it. It is the passengers we are concerned with, not the materials the ship is made of.

a neural net is how to understand the brain from a programmers perspective and could be enough to simulate it on a computer

what i as talking about is the biochemical basis of memory in a living brain and any machine to read out the data doesn't exist yet
do you think neural net is a sufficient summary and understanding of all chemical reactions going on in the brain

DO NOT TRUST TRANSHUMANISM

You're a lying sack of shit. Quantum effects have never been proven to have ANY role in the function of brains, despite retards like Penrose and his adherents looking for years.

That always bothered me, such a stupid sentiment. My life does not depend on others. In the real life, friends and family members constantly die, this is natural and you are not forever in mourning.

There is according to thermodynamics you stupid fucking nigger.

All "computer scientists" should be brutally beaten until they admit that they're not real scientists or engineers. Without fail they have egos that outstrip their actual knowledge.

Often asserted but never proven. Penrose is a hack. Stop reading his books, they're making you stupider.

i'd do it

Sounds great till you realize you are now programmed to obey and be a permanent slave.

i am not refering to penrose and hameroff orch or theory
i am not mentioning if the complete basis of consciouness is based on a microtubulli quantum computer
however quantumeffects have been measured inside neurons their effect on brain processing unsure, but the very fact that quantum effects are there makes replicating the brain impossible within the current understanding of physics

So how do they know your consciousness will transfer instead of just killing you and making a copy

Oh this has already been addressed nvm

et al

This should be plain on its face to anyone who thinks about the moment where he examines his own copy and wonders why he isn't now two experiences and two consciousnesses, however connected, instead of one.

The clever way around this is to make killing the original "necessary" in order to copy him to the machine. This is an old science fiction trope. Greg Egan's take on it is particularly terrifying, because he acknowledges it but then seems to be okay with it anyway. In the novel Schild's Ladder, for example, the main character laments, with scarcely a sprinkle of passing bitterness, that his impending death will cause the loss of all new information acquired since his "most recent backup."

Just the same, Egan has both nailed the absolute horror of this shit and possibly solved the problem. I'd nutshell these stories for you, but my memory is poor and I need to reread them. I figure I might as well chime in though before the thread sputters out.

"Learning to Be Me"
will.tip.dhappy.org/blog/Porn Recommender/.../book/by/Greg Egan/Learning To Be Me/
archive.is/ty4cE

Mind the NSFW link. I have no idea why the story is where it is, but it's the only good version I can find on the Web.

"Border Guards"
gregegan.net/BORDER/Complete/Border.html
archive.is/RZukA

These are collected in Axiomatic and Oceanic, respectively. As a rule I don't recommend Egan because he harbors an extremely fucked up and ideologically driven hatred of sex, but it's not really present in these stories.

SPOILERS - Both stories involve a "jewel" which replaces the brain. In the first, it is placed in the brain where it leans what it needs to, then the brain is surgically removed. In the second story, millions of years have passed and the jewel process has changed so that the brain becomes the jewel over time and there is a continuity of consciousness and experience. In the first story, the main character realizes he is the jewel but that the transfer has failed and the brain is still in control of the body. The second story doesn't really focus on the jewel or its process but mainly explains them in passing.

I say upload all these people to the cloud and then hack the server to pieces with an axe.

How stupid do you have to be to think that scanning and replicating your brain will transfer your consciousness?
All that will happen, AT BEST is you die there, and your clone lives on for the sake of your family.

The irony.

I've spent years and years reading all the near-death experiences I could get my hands on. It's funny, because I can safely say I still have no idea what's going on, or what sort of experience we should expect to have as and after we die, if any. But there's a lawyer whoa interested in the subject and he brings up an interesting point - the standard of evidence is different in a criminal trial than a tort case. For a criminal case it must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. A tort case relies on the preponderance of the evidence.

I think probably we will never have proof of an afterlife beyond a reasonable doubt, but if you just go by preponderance of evidence, there's an awful lot of it. From the NDEs themselves; to deathbed visions; to after-death visitations; to the work on precious life memories done by clinical psychologists like Ian Stephenson, I think it's safe to say that the blindly materialist viewpoint of consciousness generally comes off as uninformed. "Why should I bother reading superstitious nonsense?" the committed skeptic scoffs.

Like a lot of fields it's like the more research you do, the more you know, but the more you know you don't know too.

So, Soros will become a Jewish Necron?

Treating NDEs as evidence of consciousness after death is dogshit prima facie. Once you die, everyone would "go" to the exact same "place" - in other words, all NDEs should be basically identical. This is not the case at all. One of the most common experiences reported during NDEs when undergoing operations, is floating above yourself on the operating table and ascending into the sky. Interestingly, scientists have done studies where they put giant colored shapes or letters on a table next to an operating table and ask the person to watch out for those objects if they have an NDE during surgery. Of the few people who did report and NDE (and reported a sensation of floating above themselves, looking down at the room), not one of them could accurately name the color, object, or position of the test item. It's pretty obvious to the scientific community, at least that NDEs are hallucinations.

Jews.

Why?

As to veridical out of body observations, there have been quite a few, and some of them seem pretty compelling short of coordinated lies. You've got to remember that those people are dying and apparently having some of the most intense experiences of their lives. They're a bit busy to play gotcha games with scientists who will always be looking for an excuse to disregard them.

The fact that they're having hallucinations at all is a problem, and the fact that these hallucinations are structurally coherent with a logical narrative progression is an even bigger problem. An EEG shows a dying brain throws static - not the sort of ordered brainwaves that are generally correlated with conscious experiences. They report normal levels of consciousness or even super-consciousness upon revival rather than what you'd expect. Patients of non-life threatening hypoxia report confusion, disordered hallucinations, and emotional apathy. NDE patients instead report coherent, strongly-emotional experiences that shouldn't be possible given their erratic EEG.

In short, I don't buy it.

Funny because Hollywood has been shitting on robotics/transhumanism in most movies/shows regarding them. Especially robowaifus, clearly the Jews are very against them (see ex machina, A.I., Her, westworld) it always results in the fembot killing the guy, yet there is little to no evidence this would happen in real life. There clearly is a political agenda there

Reality is a simulation and Jews are too cowardice to leave it, so they're going to trap not only themselves here but the rest of us as well, turning the sim into their own personal paradise. It all makes sense nao.

Fug should be a reply to

Why would we "go to the exact same place" when we don't live or die in the exact same place? When we don't come from the exact same place? You're pretty retarded if you think that, for example, Hitler is over there chatting with 6 gorillion jews (that never died) right now.

Assumptions aren't "science" and you started your little hypothesis with a baseless assumption. Nice job, fag.

The jew believes he has no soul and he's probably right about that, but that would probably just be the "pure" jew (like the rabbis). Either they are completely soulless or their soul is so underdeveloped and abused (or barred away) that's it's basically nonexistent. So they focus on this life.

There's nothing wrong with trying to lift this world up closer to "paradise" though. Why one would do that differs. If we think of life as a simulation then wouldn't we want it to have epochs of paradise too? Perhaps a sort of vacation like Total Recall? Or, you know, to see if humanity can do it before going extinct and nature starts over with another species.

sooooo are they halfway admitting someone finally made a working quantum computer or is this just more "WE'RE MAKING THE FUTURE BETTER GOYIM, LISTEN TO YOUR TECHNOCRAT OVERLORDS THAT DONT MAKE ANYTHING USEFUL!!!"

By the "same place" I mean the same type of experience, the same cohesive, alternative reality. Not everyone is born in the same exact physical location obviously, you obtuse faggot but they're all born into the same world with the same physical properties, etc. If people are crossing over into an alternate reality, there should be some cohesion to that reality and the experience of it (as there is in our reality) - but there's not.
No. These people are told before hand what's going to happen and what they need to look for. Everyone agrees to do this. Everyone reports looking around the room for the object. Everyone tried. Everyone failed. This is the most objective test one can do regarding NDE - and it failed.
Not only is EEG the most garbage form of measurement of neural signals available, your argument is "we don't really understand the patterns coming from the EEG when people are having an NDE". To say "it's not possible" to have these experiences given their EEG demonstrates both a logical fallacy (of course it's possible given both how shitty EEG is and how limited our understanding of neural code is) and a severe lack of understanding of basic neuroscience.
t. neuroscientist
But keep chasing dragons and calling me a faggot.

Why? Humans aren't equal, why should their experience of one life or another also be equal?

Dumb fucks. This will work for sure. Even a robot neural net A.I. needs a body to know what it is.

because we're all fucking brains, designed in the same general layout, connected to a sensory and motor system with the same general layout, living in the same reality on the same planet bound by the same laws in the same time period. are you this much of a retard or have you just fully run out of counter arguments?

Oh really? Got any papers on that? Because the impression I get is that these people are entirely guided by emotional content, and generally don't spend too long within the hospital room before being pulled into a more transcendental realm. I think all this business about secret envelopes and hidden pictures is a bit of a non-starter. I prefer to focus on what people did see and experience when they shouldn't have been having an experience at all, not what they didn't. The average person doesn't see a guy in a gorilla suit under the right experimental circumstances.

I didn't say it was impossible, you're straw-manning. But what we see on the EEG counterindicates the expectation of a vivid, coherent, narratively-structured conscious experience.

Interesting when your entire argument keeps reducing itself. You went from a full human being to a brain floating in liquid and connected to a nervous system (which all differs from person to person since we aren't clones but feel to keep ignoring that).

...

so…the only thing wrong with this is the jews being the most powerful people today?

if that weren't the case, wouldn't this be good?

not at your beckon call, but i'm a literal scientist so I'm only referencing things I've read peer-reviewed studies on. If you're that interested, you can find them yourself, like I did.
The irony of you citing the Simon's selective attention study is that people do see the gorilla if you ask them to look for it - just like the scientists told the patients what to look for, when, and where.
Ok, let's go on what the patients reported seeing in the operation NDE study. They reported seeing themselves on an operating table, with doctors over them, and nurses in the room. They report all sorts of details about the room, most of which are not correct - including missing MASSIVE objects placed right next to the operating table. If we take you at your standard of focusing on what they saw versus what they didn't see - then we know they "saw" something that didn't match with reality.
Stop LARPing as a scientist. You're talking to someone who has published peer-reviewed papers using combined EEG/fMRI to study visual perception. You're only fooling yourself.

Your body is just a biological machine.

I don't see the point.

It's subjective.
Some would like to modify themselves.
Others would like the society to modify around their natural self.

I'm a bit of both.

The truth behind SOMA is consciousness never transfers. It's simply a copy. You are playing the game as the final copy. The Truth behind the article in the OP is you would be aware the entire time of your brain being destroyed. Your conscious mind would never transfer. Somewhere in that horrible torture you would die. I would fight to the death to prevent that from ever happening to me or my loved ones.

Ask 10 people to describe the Indianapolis International Airport and you're bound to get all sorts of interesting responses, few of which, I imagine, correspond perfectly to reality. You'll get collections of details the person considers salient, some will be accurate, others decidedly not. Since you're le hardcore neuroscientist and all you already damn well know how bad people are at reconstructing scenes accurately. Crime scene witnesses can't even agree on what color car the perp fled in much of the time.

I'm not LARPing as anything. You're really coming off as kind of a try-hard, with something he desperately needs to prove. Are you sure you're from around here?

Let's leave aside NDEs for now. What about after death communications? Many, many people report being visited by a close loved one near the time of their deaths, especially in the case of sudden and unexpected accidents. Oftentimes it happens before the person knows their loved one is dead. Another grief-induced post-informed hallucination I'm sure.

What about Ian Stephenson's books? Lots of kids claiming to have been WWII pilots and describing cockpit idiosyncrasies no 3 year old child should be privy to. They saw it on TV right? Or read about it in a book? Even when they can correctly identify an individual pilot that the family has to do extensive research to learn about and correctly identify the kind of aircraft he flew and how it was shot down. Right?

Any faggot who wishes to do that deserves his brain in a waste container. Please start now and make world a better place.Thats autist suicide.

...

ayyyyyy

fuck no, what good would a copy of yourself thats stuck inside a box do???

it would try to off itself when it figures out whats going on and that its forever stuck in a box repeating memories of things it never felt

Why not just biologic life indefinite life extension?
Seriously, what's the point of destroying your body when you can simply augment it?
Use external exoskeleton machines for the body, and AI networks for the mind. Humanity doesn't literally need anything else.

its the same reason why ill never step on a destructive teleporter.
Sure I dont mind making digital copies of myself, but my current subjective experience isnt going to make such a transfer and im good.

Why not just go in and do a semi-biological replacement?
Replace organs and muscles with more durable analogues.

News like these are like video related. First you think it's great, but then you remind yourself that it will be the establishment who will prolong their rule over the cattle by giving themselves more lifetime and accumulate wealth beyond imagination, just by sitting on interest rates.

The consciousness is immortal, I think all this "uploading your brain" nonsense falls victim to the teleportation paradox.

All you're doing is creating a similacrum of a given person, but you're essentially either duplicating them sans consciousness or killing them.

that actually scared me.

it creates a consciousness, but the 64 question is if its *their* consciousness or not

Prophetic digits.

but its not international, user

no need to be scared. Here is a clip from Interstellar to calm you down.

The autism is strong in this one. You may be the chosen one. Thanks

Why not do an apples-to-apples comparison? Have 10 people go in a small room, put a large object on a table, and then ask them what the object was, what color it was, what the room was like, etc. an hour later. Do you think every single person is going to get it wrong like they did in the NDE study? Of course not. There will be errors (baseline error) but to suggest the recollections will be as flawed as the NDE patients recollections is obviously a bad bet.
…that the fedora-tipping, amateur-interpretation-of-popsci-article, hur-dur-explain-this-coincidence-science type of thinking you promote is inferior, intellectually, and cancer, culturally.

Isn't it ironic that modern "enlightened" science still follows the teleology of medieval alchemy? Transmutation of base metals into gold is already possible through nuclear fission, but they're still aiming for artificial humans (homunculi as clones and AI) and the elixir vitae.

Aurum nostrum non est aurum vulgi.

I have yet to see anybody ask the real question about this transhumanist bullshit

does this make them vulnerable to computer viruses?

Coincidence theory is often far less plausible than that there's things going on in the world that are well outside the current scope of our understanding.

Doesn't that kind of align with the 'mars' theory where Mars Jews essentially fuck ed Mars in the process of seeking immortality and the only way to continue was to 'restart' from the very beginning but on earth? Someone else can provide more detail but it was a pretty elaborate theory involving ancient races and whatnot.

This. It's like arguing that your car's antenna causes the radio station, or at the very least, it's underdetermined by the evidence.

Anyone arguing about life after death needs to 1st stop being niggers and 2nd READ

http ://www.near-death.com/science/evidence.html

It's like a child that believes they disappear when they cover their eyes.

I have a theory on that. Most likely its due to how if robowaifus existed in real life, (((they))) would not be able to profit off of said robots, nor be able to control them. They make most if not all things that they can't directly or indirectly control as evil or taboo, so they either have someone they do control destroy what they can't control, or destroy it themselves.

Should (((they))) really start pushing for robowaifus with little to no resistance like the topic of this thread, it should be a big red flag. I would not have one personally since I prefer to be with a real woman.

Its nice to have different opinions on the board so its not an echo chamber but really just gimme some evidence and stop being a democrat.

That doesn't even make sense. Jews are peddling drugs to normies to dull the mind. They don't want "livestock" that can think for themselves.

I didn't say or suggest something doesn't exist if we can't test it. I'm saying we can't come to meaningful conclusions about a theory's validity we can't test its validity.
If someone tells you something, it doesn't mean it's false if you can't prove it. But it does make you a retard for treating it like it's automatically true because you can't verify it.

If you can't test its validity you should have no opinion if that is the criteria that must be met for you to have any discussion at all about it.

Otherwise it is absolutely an appeal from ignorance, direct or not.

Doubt requires a reason to be justifiable philosophically. Sure, maybe we're all just brains in a vat, but it's just intellectual masturbation to talk about in absence of a reason to doubt that reality comes to us roughly as it is. And so I think NDEs and such probably just are what they seem to be, which is out if body experiences by disembodied consciousness. Why and how should it be so? I have no idea. But I don't find the coincidence theory to be convincing. Too many coincidences are involved of too intricate a type for my taste.

The reason you do the replacement gradually - the reason you don't create a duplicate in a single day - is so that there is always a definitive answer to your question.

...

what's interesting is that if you take the literal translation of "Deux Ex Machina"
you realize that isn't "the MachineGod"
But an entity that is Godlike that literally came FROM a machine, that sounds eerily similar like a certain primordial being of chaos who speaks through repeating integers.

In perhaps the greatest plot twist in history, the people who wanted transhumanism for their own power were defeated by the people who practice pseudo-transhumanism for their own pleasure.

There is already a "MachineGod" and his name is Kek. The hiveminds of the Chans is far more powerful and influential than any give credit.

This isn't saying we should all become cyborgs, but rather than in a weird way we already are.

Where is the dichotomy of human and machine? In strictest terms, they are both naturally occurring.

It may appear like immortality from our perspective, but it isn't true eternity.

Copying your brain isn't the same as transferring your consciousness. It's merely an imitation, even if it's convinced it is you. The moment you alter your brain, you alter your consciousness.

The only transhumanism i'd get behind is exoskeletons.

How the fuck could anybody possibly want to do this? It sounds like hell.

I'd be okay with cybernetic replacements for amputees.

Hell even organ failure bionics

but not full mental transition.

Not surprised though since everything goes back to it.

Being such a pleb that you think that consciousness is a matter of perspective.

This article begs the question in assuming that's all consciousness is.

Holy confirmation bias Batman.

That's not possible anyhow, so don't worry about it.

But yeah bring on the cybernetics, I'd love to jack into a mech suit One Must Fall 2097 style.

so what are we streaming exactly?

And what when the kikes start advertising a new and improved mechanical heart 2.0, now with 100% more blood circulation!, and a solar flare fries every circuit on earth? What do when the cybernetic limb connected to your nervous system accidentally releases too much electricity, and fries you? Exoskeletons are the only safe solution in the long run.

I mean I don't deny there are risks, even as is you could build an EMP to kill someone with a pacemaker without leaving a trace obviously trashing the emp and destroying the evidence, which wouldn't be very hard, just melt the plastic case in acetone, gut the wiring and give it to some hobo to recycle or just toss it, anything else can be thrown away

well said. the difference is that their version of the singularity removes the individual biological being while copying that being into a central computer.

We are giving our individual power to kek like Goku gathering energy for a spirit bomb. We don't need to sacrifice our individual life to support any singularity, we are the singularity's component parts.

Copying your consciousness into a machine isn't the same as transferring your mind into a machine. Either of which sound terrible tbh.

Is consciousness bound to our genes - would that make clones suitable for immortality, or would the lack of memories in a fresh brain create a completely new person?

Is consciousness bound to neural patterns - so is digital data convertible with neural patterns?

Is consciousness self-contained or a part of some greater consciousness - does reincarnation exist, and if yes, do we get fully reincarnated or can we get mixed with other consciousnesses or split like water in cups?

This.

Although the only exception to this is if we managed to find a way to draw consciousness into a vessel we've created artificially. That may be possible, but if we could do that we would essentially have achieved godlike powers.

At present we have no idea what mediates the attachment/detachment of consciousness to bodies from birth to death. We may likely never know, although I suspect if it's meant for us to do, the process will spontaneously happen when we've constructed the appropriate vessel.

I'm inclined to believe the third potential, and I believe the consciousness remains individual until all quantum potential is manifested.

At least that's what a few religious and non-religious academics theorize. A jesuit mystic believed in the concept of the omega point, which was basically the drawing of all consciousness back into the singularity after a set of arbitrary criteria were met.

I believe memetics and manifesting novelty on a quantum level is that criteria, until that happens, we are basically self-differentiated fragments of consciousness constantly being reborn to return to do our memetic work.

Entropy is a fake construct stemming from a misinterpretation of Maxwell's field equations. Time, space, matter and energy can all be created and destroyed. But most importantly to this point: a modulated waveform has no maximum entropy.

It's like you don't even know Trump legitimately has Tesla's papers his uncle gave him and built a time machine to MAGA against all odds.

This is fucking stupid. Tunneling plays a role in damn near every cellular biological process and even up to the macro scale of chlorophyll and ATP synthesis. To suggest two dendrites in close enough proximity to eachother don't experience tunneling effects is absurdly dumb. Life evolves to take advantage of everything it can and since it evolves at the quantum level it absolutely takes advantage o quantum effects. I'll refer you to the link at the top of this post though, because if you believe our knowledge is complete or absolute in anything you're legitimately retarded.

Wrong, see above.

Not true my dude

Well no, on an infinite timescale basically everything that is possible within the rules of our universe is possible.

Interestingly enough there was some mathematician that referred to the proposition of an infinitely expanding universe and a phenomena they referred to as "quantum replication". Basically implying that if a universe were unbounded and you had unlimited time to explore, you would eventually start coming across complete replications of already existing things.

I actually however don't believe the universe is infinite and I do believe that such a threshold as "quantum replication" is basically the point at which the general configuration of existence as we know it effectively collapses in upon itself.

There is no purpose for a universe or existence to repeat itself perfectly in a quantum sense over and over, even though a process might be similar it is differentiated in ways we as human beings would find difficult to quantify.

Those scientists and their backers are retarded.

their desire is correct, but their methods are wrong

they are not worthy of the truth, so they with get only death

As a dyed-in-the-wool, SENS-supporting biotranshumanist I wholly support this action

I plan on dying before I'm 35 pussy.

...

Transhumanism is religion for atheists that fear death.

You are not your mind.

The thing that separates humans from animals, and humans from AI is we have both Mind, Emotions, and a Soul.

Those three, the trinity, in conjunction with each other form the human experience.

Careful. That's what I thought too, and I'm still here, 34 with a go-nowhere job, no waifu, and very, very little to my name.

Define soul without using the lies of the sand people.

Animating intelligence.

A friend of mine has been saying this since he was 16. He's 37. Shit job. No resume. Only dates dumbass women who cheat on him and make him feel bad about himself. No plans. No savings. Few friends. don't do it, user

So intelligence.

While it's clear that just uploading your mind to some machine would just create a copy of you, it's possible that slowly replacing your brain with artificial parts could maintain your consciousness into a new vessel.

...

Goddamn it, I was planning on killing myself in my mid-twenties. Some part of me knew that I'd be too attached to life to do it. I don't want to live my life enslaved to jews and being socially ostracized by normies.

...

I'm serious m8s. I'm dying in battle or I'm killing myself before I get too frail. I can't stomach the idea of being weak like that.

What if we made our minds a virus. When uploaded to jew network we infect it from the inside and take over. What if our memes and kek have been making us just that, literal viruses for the day we make the leap from mortal beings to immortal entities.

what a dummy

You'd be surprised.

There's a weird kind of responsibility that comes on with aging. I mean, never in a million years did I'd be a veteran shitposter with the accumulated wisdom that comes from having been on Holla Forums since early 2005. But nowadays, I feel a lot of the time that what I live for is you guys, and the contributions I can make to the conversation just because I've seen so many things happen in that time and had so many of our community's shared experiences. I think it's important for people who are younger to make sure they don't miss out on life. If you can get a girl into you, waifu her. Have a kid. Have two or three. Make those contributions and fulfill your duty as a man.

Yeah, watching the elderly and their lack of ability is genuinely horrifying. I know that they're at peace with it, but I'd hate to think that one day I'll find "peace" with being old and useless.

Why, user? Why is my duty as a man to reproduce? From what I've seen, there are plenty of people that have children and a wife that hate their lives. The American dream exists to perpetuate an endless need for material things and taxes. I can't even begin to imagine wanting to bring another human bean into a world like this.

SIEG HEIL

Why? To be better than the jews, I guess.

...

The consciousness is already immortal, this just goes to show how craven and terrified materalists are of the death of the ego and the body.

This.

And what power do you think a million years will grant to our enemies if we should allow them to seize it first?

The Materialist jews, attached so much to this illusion, this projection, believing not only that their gold and shekels are real but that brain is actually so real all that needs to be done is to transpose it onto a computer (they're both equally real after all)… and consciousness will somehow be copied over. Never knowing, or refusing to see consciousness is the source, that their tiny experience of it is just a infinitesimally small part of something much greater that forms the larger reality

Don't ever become like the jews anons, believing this reality is all there is and it's all that matters.

LUDITES SHALL RISE FROM THE INTESTINES OF THE MACHINES, WE WILL LAY OUR BODIES ON THE GEARS AND MAKE THEM STOP

Even if they fail to survive the procedure, or even if a copy is made and the original persists, you have to understand that they have now created a literal electric Jew, a being with all the evils of the Jew and all the advantages that silicon has to offer.

WE MUST NOT ALLOW OUR ENEMIES TO SEIZE THIS POWER. WE MUST HAVE IT FOR OURSELVES. WE MUST SECURE THE EXISTENCE OF OUR PEOPLE AND A FUTURE FOR WHITE CHILDREN.

It's nothing but the Rapture for judeo-materialists. There is no such thing as consciousness uploading and I'll bet you my bottom dollar there never, ever will be. It's better to trust in the great god Kek than jewish machinations.

So you're not an user at heart, but just a failed normie?

Besides shitposting do something good for your race.

Entropy is a macroscopic, statistical construct. It has nothing to do with microscopic level field equations. It comes from a fundamental result in statistical mechanics that identifies the energy distribution of particles in a gas and more general systems as the exponential distribution, with mean energy proportional to temperature. Entropy describes how dispersed this distribution is. It is more a statistical quantity than a physical quantity, as it can be defined for arbitrary distributions as the expected value of the negative log likelihood.

Truth. Frederik Pohl did it so much better in his Gateway series.

Cloning technology is advancing wayway faster than mechas anyway. I would rather have a new young version of my own heart thanks.

False. Entropy is a mathematical curiosity. It's a conceptual error to think of it as existing in nature - it exists in the way we make calculations about nature.

necsi.edu/projects/baranger/cce.pdf

It "exists" as much as heat and temperature exist, which are sums and expected values of energy across a macroscopic distribution of particles. Most if not all concepts in physics are simply useful quantities that relate to the way we experience and measure the environment. You could say the same about force, energy, electrical potential, etc. The difference is, some concepts are microscopic fields, and some are macroscopic expected values.

Orthodox Christian here- if this becomes a thing, it would be an affront to god. I would take a sledgehammer to the humanoid robots described in OP or the server machines themselves.

The trouble is the question of entropy is deeply bound into questions about metaphysics. Is the universe really ticking down like a wound-up grandfather clock, or is it a self-sustaining reaction of some kind? Does it have discrete limits or is it infinitely divisible?

Pffthaha.

Not the fear of death, they want to be the exempt from every rule of nature, and they can't comprehend dying like other goyim.
Nature is the ultimate equalizer and it grinds everything into dust.

No one can fully appreciate life until they are pulled to the gates of eternal sleep. Not that it is a surprise, since they don't appreciate anything at all because they just steal it or have it given to them by naive idiots. They are stuck in infanthood and wish to drag everyone down into that state of mind by infantilizing the modern culture, and encouraging dependency on government for assistance and protection. Death is also a protective mechanism for future life. How else can the cogs of reality continue turning if there are meddlers always trying to push in the opposite direction? Nature destroys what becomes harmful to its inhabitants.

This comic outlines the exact process too. Uploading anything just makes a copy. The article's idea kills you while uploading even. Your flow of consciousness does not magically transfer. I had to stop reading the description of their theoretical procedure because it was too horrifying. Good lord, I can't believe people are this stupid.

Only viable way is the brain in a box route, which also is a prison, relying your freedom to the box and system carers.

Having a copy of your mind in a box means slaving a copy of you (like that Black Mirror movie/episode) perpetually. Horrifying.

(((They))) plan to tax every one of the robots that replace jobs or provide sex.

That show any good? A non-user buddy showed me an episode with some ugly ass nigger mc

I've heard it's full of racemixing/diversity faggotry, and I can attest to that from the few episodes i've seen. But it's got some interesting premises.

Yup, there's a neat game called Soma that's whole premise is actually about this. It's set up as a sci-fi psychological horror. It's pretty cool and worth a play through. The people that go through with this are actually killing themselves while their copy is tricked into thinking they transferred over. And just imagine all the tests scientists can do with copies of your brain thinking its you.

I don't see how paying alimony to several whores, being a corporate slave, being neck deep in debt and sucking Israel's cock with other cucks is in any way preferrable.

That's the same lame ass excuse I hear from blue/black pilled normies. You're absolutely useless to the cause if you don't provide new human beings for our ideology to continue. Any random normalfag regardless of their beliefs is better than you simply because they're giving us the potential for future red pilled whites and our ideological continuation. We're like a budding tree that needs leaves to bring the whole unit energy so it can continue to grow and branch. Let alone the whole genetic aspect of letting muds inherit the earth because you're too selfish and lazy.

Forgot to add, though the implication is obvious, *any normalfag that creates and raises white children

this

As in creating a copy elsewhere. As in, not you.

In case you guys don't understand the implications, I highly recommend playing SOMA. That game does a great job of explaining in a simple manner the issues of "uploading" minds to machines.

I believe by participating on anonymous imageboard we've created a super-organism which is the "hivemind". We're all one and the same, user. Or rather we're all one and the same user.

I do not want to "live forever" however I would love to see my 4000th birthday. Just watching and observing humanity is so enjoyable to me, especially with the many happenings over the last few years.
Live forever? Nah. but to live love enough to be a crew member of a Garden ship that has created dozens of extra-solar colonies? Oh yes sign me up. But I would not want to be a machine in order to do so, I feel I would lose more than I would gain by doing so.

...

...

You would end up feeling very old and very careworn not even half through that. Especially considering the innate human limitation on intellect and memory.

Even a broken clock is right sometimes.

Also, immortality is s stupid idea and a sham. Humans are not meant for it. Our mind is not meant for it.
You are a fucking retard (and positively insane) and SHOULD die for the betterment of humanity.

And I'm the future president of the USA

Hypotetically, what would happen is, in order to get on with life and events, onre's mind would probably start to forget things like your earliest childhood, then your mid life and in the end, you would end up forgetting where you came from and what your family would look like.

The best example would be of Nameless One from Planescape Torment. Immortality ceases to be fun when it is just one continuous amnesia that gets worse and worse the longer you live as you remember less and less about your own past.
The only way to overcome this would be to gradually increase lifespans to 120-150-200, and then try to select for genes that have good memory and neural plasticity.

Regression to the middle will fuck your shit up. Eventually you have to go around perfectly normal people just because they don't conform to your elevated standards. No thanks, I say let's stick with the way our ancestors lived and not some LARP gamble (science never works out as ideally as it's presented).

This is where proper application of alcohol and weed come in, and it would let me catch up on my reading. Also I said i would not want to become a machine, not that i would not accept cybernetic augmentation.
But you make a valid argument and thank you for that.

The biggest one would be that consciousness uploading would have to violate locality at a macroscopic level in order for it to work. Because locally the original information hasn't moved nor the physical medium seating it has been altered. Any true and stable transference would have to obey locality.

Regression to mean is what you are after, and that happens with a large pool and not enough focussed selection for a desired trait. However, things like female breasts in humans (which are permanent, unlike in other primates), blue eyes, bipedalism or speech have all been selected for due to survival and sexual advantages (favourable traits survived more often than not and they bred more), and thus became a permanent fixture of our genome.
In the same way, it would be possible to add the desired trait and track its spread throughout population, to eventually see it become a fixture in the population. It would be a more orderly, humane and natural way of introducing genetic changes into human population, and combined with medical and nano science can potentially give our descendants longevity beyond ours.

Many people are so scared of death they desperately want to believe immortality is right around the corner, to the point they will overlook any flaw in the proposed solution.

Sadly True. With lack of faith or belief in something greater or higher than ourselves, or even believing in our consciousness existing beyond death and even elevating itself (mostly due to how (((they))) have tried to program us), most people initially think that "oh, since there's nothing after death, I'll just do whatever I want and just enjoy myself till I die and not give a shit what happens", which gives some form of happiness for a while. This eventually leads the individual down the path to degenerate hedonism which few ever recover from (usually in the form of having reality hitting them square in the face, but recently even that doesn't seem to affect them as much). However, deep down and subconsciously, they know that death will eventually come to them, and with said people falling for the bait of "the nothing after death" meme, a new fear starts to grow in them (or has always been with them and they try to ignore it); the loss of existence. They fear the nothingness and loss of their existence and consciousness since they think when they die, it all disappears, and as such, will do anything to stay alive to not lose that (or for the more depraved, no longer be able to indulge in short term, instant gratification pleasures).

So when you have no faith and/or belief in a higher state of existence or beings, who do you turn to? For these people, it's the ones that do all the "research" and work for them; Scientists (more specifically, the ones they see on TV and are allowed by (((them))) to have their articles and studies shown to the public without fear of being suicided for going against the narrative). These people begin to take anything (((Scientists))) say as if it were holy scripture or teaching from a religion, becoming the very thing they mock and insult those who follow a religion over what (((Scientists))) say, forgetting the whole purpose of what science is supposed be; theories that help us better understand something, but are not complete fact, as at any point any theory can be proven wrong. So when an article like this is made, it's to get these poor soul(less) people to believe that there's a way to live forever and never worry about death. This makes them more willing to sacrifice themselves more and more to those who wish to control us, just to get the chance to stay alive forever and enjoy those instant pleasures, not realizing that once they stop giving pleasure and they want out, it's already too late.

Shit like what this article is proposing is what we fight against, as it is an affront to humanity and nature itself. It should be stopped however possible to prevent our brothers and kin from suffering a fate worse than death, and through our ways we can do our best to stop it. After all, the best memes are the one's based on truth.

Look man I would be willing to put down a 30 year mortgage for undoing 30 years of aging, and do so indefinitely provided that I have the funds to do so. What the shit in OP's article is nothing more than a shitty copy of myself that can and will be hacked for the (((their))) benefit. Granted what I suggested brings a whole can of worms that (((they))) could manipulate.

Interesting. This means consciousness is anti-entropy. Princeton research has pretty firmly proven that conscious intent changes outcomes of random events by microscopically shifting the mean outcome. (((Science))) has overlooked the mountain of evidence because it lacks a (((publishable))) theory of explanation. But the data is undeniable. princeton.edu/~pear/

You sound like a Jap claiming there will never be such a thing as an atomic bomb.

The Jews got nukes first, and conquered the world. Just sitting back and letting them get this technology first is worse than suicide or extinction. It puts everyone at risk of being confined for eternity in an artificial Hell built by the kikes to confine bad/all goyim.

People with such suicidal ideas have no self, they are hollow and are only a reflection of their environment.

Excellent reading. Thank you, user.

You want a real wild ride?
Read the nonfiction books that Blindsight and Echopraxia are based on:
Thomas Metzinger's Being No One and The Ego Tunnel

Peter Watts Describes Being No One in his footnotes:

The opening lines of Being No One support that view:
models.
of being someone emerges if a conscious information-processing system operates under a transparent self-model.
central claim of this book is that as you read these lines you constantly confuse yourself
with the content of the self-model currently activated by your brain.

Fucking finally.
Imagine possibilities of using computerized humans as workforce. All intellectual jobs could have been removed from the living.
But more importantly imagine possibilities of virtual cities populated by them like MMOs. Imagine all the worlds we could create in exchange for intellectual work that is most of our economy. We even could made physical labor busing controllable robots.
Imagine most efficient scientists being copied hundred times. Imagine your existence being multiplied like C++ object to solve single problem.

Our civilization would be just dead people controlling robots making more robots, while creating giant cluster computers to hold our children to join us before death.
We would be that shady government from psycho pass but with computers instead of brains and actually doing stuff instead of idk judging? It makes less sense more you know about them.

WANTING TO ENTRAP MY LIGHT SPIRIT IN 2D HELL
nice try ;>)

damn you schlomo wrong face ;^)

More empty hype from silicon valley. I was supposed to be a robocop by now.

You are only responsible to yourself. There is no one else on your side. Others can only guide you and advise you to not give up on yourself, but the decision to let or not let your bloodline die out is yours, only. So when you talk and ask about duty and about the whys of duty, you should talk to the mirror first.

Imagine being permanent slave to the Jews with no free will.

...

There's an incredibly high probability that I'm significantly smarter than you.
The fact you strive for mortality alone should be proof of that, but you're retarded so it's not.

c-c-checked
Fucking this. Heed the warning, reject transhumanism.

This is what a century of Materialism does - you are just your brain goy.

Consider this - is electricity a battery? Does a battery cause the phenomena of electricity? Or is electricity something more fundamental?

Your consciousness is more than your brain, so you can't just make a 3d computer model of the brain and poof consciousness. That's the most retarded thing I've ever read and it's frustrating that I have to explain it to people because they've been so brainwashed by materialist jews

does a 3d computer model of a battery or generator produce electricity? Why would a 3d computer model of your brain produce consciousness?

he got it wrong.

what would actually happen is the brainstem would be removed from the body and encased in a protective shell that provides life support for the brain. From there the brain will be capable of interfacing with other machines/systems

somewhere along the lines after that happens, technology and understanding will advance further and perhaps what that user is referring to may be possible

a 3d model of a computer doesn't do shit, but multiple virtualized machines can exist inside of one physical computer and can do anything a normal computer does.

we >>>/philosophy/ now?

...

Holy fuck, we were wrong about them being chaos cultists. They're C'tan and they want to make humanity into Necrons

we crusader kazcynski now

only the elite, skynet has big plans for the meatbags

This is an interesting comic, and brings up the specific conversation piece I love to raise with people: will it still be you who walks out of the teleportation terminal?

This comic slips up pretty early and relies on some defective assumption(s):

The whole argument fell over by page 3.

A more interesting question to ponder is if it is the same consciousness that emerges from the destination as entered the first machine.

Along with the poor grammar, this comes across as a freshman-level intellectual fart.

...

Its just a copy of you, the stream of consciousness is either interrupted and you are dead, or copied and its not you. To all those around you, it is you, but you alone know it is not…or you are just dead.

Consciousness requires sufficient points of quantum interaction in order to find interaction meaningful. Consciousness is imbued in all things. But different levels of consciousness seek out appropriate vessels. Human level consciousness requires a level of interactivity at a fairly high level. Machines without these quantum interaction points would be devoid of true consciousness as there would be nothing to "play with."

This.
It's a fucking trap in order to sign your own assisted suicide.

That's more the domain of purpose-built AI, which is likely to happen much sooner anyway.

Easy to say from a distance, but if a cure existed, how many people would actually look their father in the eye and say "sorry dad, but Alzheimer's is part of being human"?

We PSO2 now.

Can't tax them if they don't know you have them :^) there are a bunch of open source robots you can print. open source versions of all this tech will be amazing. I'd definitely trust it more than anything google and friends would put out, plus you can modify it to your liking.

How do we know consciousness cannot be transferred?

Please share somewhere around here when it's done, it sounds very interesting.

Irrelevant. For a start, a synthetic computer is not a human brain, whether it contains data collected from a brain or not so your argument is fucked from the start.
That doesn't even matter though, people behave and think in idiosyncratic ways, their responses follow a trend. To fool an "uploader's" friends and family, all you have to do is combine their memories with their personality traits.
Weather isn't deterministic either but we still know it will show in winter and be warm in summer.
The way you write, you imply that human responses are completely random and unpredictable. Nonsense. In fact most people (especially if they are still young) don't have much at all in the way of uniqueness. All you need to fool their friends is information about their past and social relations. Then it is just a matter of copying their style and opinions.
Fooling friends and family to convince them that the "uploaded" person was still conscious would be very, very easy.
