Upon seeing that post, I decided to research LHOHQ and found something startling.

as a therapist, ive worked with some kids who have experienced childhood trauma of various types, some sexual, some non-sexual (one girl in particular survived a terrible car accident that killed her younger brother but severely injured her mother and grandmother). drawings are used commonly as a way to give children a tool to express something that they don't have the typical social ability to express. sometimes its a useful tool with adults as well, especially if it's something the adult experienced as a kid, or it was so overwhelming as to create an out-of-body experience in the adult.

if i had a kid i was working with that drew or showed me a picture like this, the very first thing i would do, after talking with the kid about this picture, would be to inform the proper authorities, starting with their parents assuming i didn't have reason to suspect the parents as being involved with this in any way, such as if the kid highlighted that one of the adults was a parent, or that their parents sometimes wore a similar outfit as one of the older figures in this picture. i would do this because it's required by law to do so in the event that you suspect possible child abuse.

certain elements of this picture are not, by themselves, unusual. assuming the "me 9" bit at the bottom right is male, the presence of the crooked knife-looking thing on the left (in the orange, held by the guy in black with orange highlights) is not unusual, as 9 year old boys often draw "cool" looking weapons. likewise blood, even the copious amount here, isn't cause for alarm on it's own. however, all these elements taken together, as well as the "5" above the central bleeding figure, with the ominous red-clad figure behind the (what i'm assuming) 5-year old, as well as the disembodied leg pushing down on the "me" child, quite honestly freaks me the fuck out.

based on the writing of "syndey uni" and "anthony kidman" im going to assume that that's the creator of this particular drawing. the style and skill shown is congruent with what you would expect from your average 9 year old. the 5 year old bleeding figure (who appears to have been ripped open by his skin) is clearly dead, based on the +'s in place of his eyes. the disembodied leg holding who i presume is anthony down may be figurative or it may be literal. anthony may have literally had someone putting their foot on his neck, or he may feel as if someone is, and this is preventing him from acting in some way.

overall, my interpretation of this fits with what you would expect from a child who was - best case scenario - shown a horror movie that was far beyond their ability to handle. worst case scenario? well, i wouldn't go so far to outright state anything in any official notes (for legal and ethical reasons) but between us and the fence post, my assumption is that this kid has survived some kind of truly fucked up experience. you'll note that "me" is naked, while the other, clearly adult figures, are not. likewise, the "5" figure is also naked. the "5" figure also has his organs exposed, with a mass of red around the area of the viscera and again where you would expect the heart. while it's not unusual for a 9 year old to know where the heart is, or even generally what it looks like as far as color goes, the "guts" are a different story altogether. the attention to certain details, such as the 5-pointed star with what looks like the iris of an eye in the center, as well as other things such as the crooked nice and the eery similarity that each adult figure shares in outfit design and the shape of their hands, tells me that these are impressions that stuck in this childs mind.

most importantly, this sort of drawing goes far beyond the "norm" you see with kids of this age who have not experienced any kind of trauma. blood, even excessive amounts of it, is something ive seen from kids, especially boys, but sometimes girls, and its usually tied to something relatively harmless, like playing a video game, or in one case, watching the Addam's Family (the one with Raul Julia and Christina Ricci as Wednesday) and the blood was a reference to the play Wednesday does with Pugsly for school (which involved excessive amounts of blood, to comedic effect). likewise, strangely shaped swords or guns are common, especially with boys. the presence of the two together, in this setting, with what clearly could be described as an altar, surrounded by robed figures, all of adult size if not age, well, like i said, id be fucking freaked out if this came into my office.
