ITT games with top-tier soundtracks

Like Senran, Valkyrie Drive's soundtrack surprised me by how good it is. Still kind of pisses me off that they used the best track on a DLC character.

As a vidya music composer, I actually think Toby can do better.

Basically, only 1/3 of the tracks are both good and original. The rest are either good, but copies, or just bad. There are a few really good standalone tracks that have their melodies copypasted into several other songs, cheapening their value.

Now, the power of leitmotifs can be strong. You can have two related tracks with leitmotifs shared by both for a powerful effect. But Undertale copies melodies from tracks that ultimately aren't even related to each other, and it feels like recycling. For example: did you know the Waterfall theme is literally just the ruins slowed down a whole bunch? Those two areas aren't even remotely related. Kind of cheapens both songs' value, doesn't it? Go look up "undertale leitmotifs" and you'll see how little original content there actually is.

As a composer, I can testify that this is easier to do than to write whole new songs. Why write whole new melodies when you can just copypaste something else, then change the key and the tempo so it's harder to tell?

The reason I'm not writing off Toby as a hack is because his use of leitmotifs is at least clever, and a few of the songs are actually REALLY good. Megalovania, Death by Glamour, Spider Dance, Ruins, and a few others are actually so fucking good, they show Toby's real talent. I only wish the game had another year to cook, so he could work on the soundtrack more.

Mah nigga, this ST is a work of absolute genius, all the motifs, the coherence between songs, its fucking awesome.

That song in particular is a stand out, its not easy pulling a 5/4 time signature for normalfags and make it sound that good and naturally flowing.
