they forgot about abolishing wage slavery and instead decided to try abolishing the wage gap

50 years of global capitalism destroyed the power of collective bargaining.

Idpol and Cold War propaganda.

This is actually mostly true.
Even the liberals don't understand what socialism really is. Just look at Cenk from TYT for example, look at how he explains what socialism and communism is:

I think you mean 97.

RIP All Power to the Soviets

Technology had not yet made it profitable then for a corporation to move manufacturing overseas.

No, it just concentrated manufacturing in the economic center and extracted resources from the entire rest of the globe. It was still global capitalism.

"Leaders" like Gloria Steinem, Noam Chomsky, Madea Benjamin, Cornel West, Al Sharpton, Bill McKibben have sold out the movement.

1. The ILWU was broken during their 1971 strike. The big shippers got their way, and cargo was containerized (thus eliminating over 90% of longshoreman jobs).
2. All the "hardcore" radical lefties either died, got sent to jail, or moved to rural towns and got rich off weed cultivation
3. Reagan fired the air traffic controllers in 1981
4. Reagan gave Amnesty to all the illegal mexicans in 1986, thereby destroying the United Farm Workers
5. The remaining leftists are all bourgeoisie collaborators
6. Bill Clinton was elected President

Broadly speaking, most "leftists" became white collar types many of whom are now millionaires (especially those that own homes in urbanizing suburbs). Their conception of "leftism" was not "radical revolution", but social justice for blacks. That is the story of the Boomers, they "liberated" blacks out of segregation in the 1960s, then "integrated" them and elected one as President in 2008. Economic Justice means nothing, it's just a thing their kids yammer about during their college years. Everything is seen through the lens of identity politics.

So of course leftism re-radicalized, it's militant parts were crushed by technological progress while it's sympathetic parts turned into dry lumpen.

Also OP, this will answer your question much better:

A perfect example of modern leftism's death is San Francisco; in the 1950s it was a blue-collar city that kept it's Municipal Railway alive. Today it's an exurb of Silicon Valley, sporting over 10,000 homeless residents (a thing which local homeowners are unconcerned with) and Muni can't even build fucking bus lanes but the city still considers itself a "beacon of progressivism". Though "progress" now means individualistic entrepreneurship, and not class struggle or economic equality.

On a side note, as a direct result of California giving up nuclear power the state has lost over 5,000 Union jobs, and is in the process of building America's largest natural gas power station (with nonunion labor, of course).

...

Did they just get used to their streets smelling like piss? Seriously, San Francisco stinks.

they don't go outside and don't use mass transit

If you try to strike, the capitalists bring in foreign scabs to work in your place. If you oppose this and try to stop the scabs, the left loses its shit and calls you a racist since the scabs aren't white.

And that's the end of that.

Drugs

Liberals co-opting our talking points

Propaganda

We need to do more to imitate radical islam

3/10 joke way too obvious

Not true. The Left "exploits" them for Democrat votes, then counters charges of hypocrisy/exporting jobs with charges of racism/xenophobia/nativism.

more like 200

Christ

Thank you for this, though

Baby's first day on Holla Forums?

Weather underground was shit tho, and a precursor to all the ideas of "whiteness" "allyship" and the bullshit you see every day.

Because of """"""social justice""""""

AFL was always class-collab, Wobblies were jailed or deported, people like Joe Hill, Sacco and Vanzetti were killed. Socialist parties always had a large reformist/bourgeois wing in leadership. Socialist party expelled those who thought sabotage was an ok practice. Then WW1 caused splits. Then Socialists fought Communists. it was always bad

Seattle has some of the best revolutionary history in the country and a long tradition of radical press. In many ways it was stronger there than anywhere else in the country. For a depressing read, read up on the history of communism in Washington state and get a sense of how it was killed nationwide:
