The Irish Anti-Racist Network and other sources also confirmed that AFA Ireland have never had a Twitter account, and that the AFA Ireland Facebook page is their official online representation. It further transpired that one of the names the interviewee referenced in the interview, ‘Sammy De Hyde’, is an internet hoax name which anonymous trolls occasionally use. Unfortunately the writer was unaware of this at the time of publication.
We immediately removed the article after receiving the e-mail from AFA Ireland, and it has not been republished since.
