Though they hate it, they privately admit and know this, which is why they put so much effort into developing their nuclear program. It makes complete sense once you look at it from their point of view.

I'll just mention that China is a significant, uncertain variable in this, but they are unlikely to provide more than secretive, token support to the regime. If they declare war, the very globalism they've abused for decades is going to turn around and bite them in the ass so hard they'll collapse within several painful, destructive years.
It's still uncertain who will be invading who, but regardless, when it comes down to actual combat, there will be vast hordes of indoctrinated Nork drones attacking Americans and South Koreans.
