I used to be a member of the Youchew forums back in ~2007. We would regularly conduct raids on lesser ytp sites for kicks, and flood youtube chatrooms with annoying enlarged text (since most chatrooms those days accepted html). My favorite role when conducting these raids was to scout out the forums and such before the raids took place, and then trigger mass spam and porn dumps with a trigger message. It was senseless fun.

Afterwards, I used that knowledge when I became resident hotpocket of my own little forum to deal with trolls and spammers. The extent that they went to in comparison to what we would do on a regular basis was embarrassing, "don't feed the trolls" was sound enough advise to deal with them.

About three years ago, I'd gone to Holla Forums on cuckchan to spectate one of their raids on /a/. The basis was as simple as "post horse cocks," but this was just after the update where you could hide threads was pushed. Rather than spamming horsecocks in existing threads like any sensible raiders would do, they just flooded the board with threads until a hotpocket eliminated them without the necessity of monetary compensation.

Is raiding a lost art, or were we just that good at it?
