IMO the problem isn't really white majority or black majority cast, it's that Chrono Trigger had some coherent art direction where characters had a defined style that made one standing next to the other look "believable" - you can tell they're from the same game just by looking at them - whereas the likes of Indivisible or Overwatch just smear a bunch of brown and black all over some characters and have this very bizarre mix of races and designs and styles that don't really fit. You could tell me that an anime blowup doll was part of the Overwatch cast and I'd just have to believe you because there's no "standard" look to it.

Fighting communities are made up of american blacks whites and the occasional nip, for the most part. Blacks love fighting games more than even sports titles.

Furthermore by eliminating any set of extreme ideals, a new one will simply take its place as the survivors from the old movement join another one. And even with a perfect elimination ratio, fringe "moderates" may become seen the new extremists by others. Which could subsequently create a vicious cycle where you eliminate all points of view except one, in the end. And thus create the same problem you attempted to resolve.
