Jesus, they aren’t pretending these aren’t rushed out, are they? It’s bad enough they already announced sequels to both Boss Baby and Trolls. I guess fear of overexposing a brand isn’t an option when Netflix wants more shit.

Yeah, it's been a really good deal for Dreamworks.
Netflix gets a bunch of shows and Dreamworks gets a very low risk ticket to just experiment with all of their properties and see if they have any staying power.

If I liked Turbo, Home, and Voltron, would I like All Hail King Julien, Puss in Boots, Dragons, and Croods?

I tried the first few eps of Peabody and it didn't grab me. Did they gut the Christian stuff from NuVeggietales? I'm a fedoratipper, but that still doesn't sit right with me. Dinotrux looks lame and Spirit looks girly as fuck.

No, the moral of most episodes of Veggitales is almost always a direct quote from the bible.

King Julien and Puss in Boots are both interesting shows in that they start out with really slow first seasons and then pick up steam in their own unique directions.
Julien for the most part stays an episodic comedy, but the showrunner is the guy who brought us Mystery Incorporated so he keeps a tight continuity that often pays off in unexpected ways, and even gets to do a huge 13 part dramatic story arc (All Hail King Julien: Exiled) that goes off the walls in very Mystery Inc ways.
Puss in Boots just evolves into an serialized action comedy and lives there.

Dragons is a weird one. It has a big overarching story and full of two parters and season ending cliffhangers, but it's story progresses so SLOW.
I think it's strangled a bit by the fact that it's set in between HTTYD1 and 2 so it can't actually do anything too interesting lest it break with canon.
In fact, most of the major plot developments are just introducing something that will show up in 2.
It gets very dragon of the week and it is also technically a continuation of the previous HTTYD show that aired on Cartoon Network, so you could get lost when those original characters just start casually showing up.

I think King Julien is the gayest fucking character and you get gay while watching it with his ass fixated humor.

I'm not even joking.

No, that is entirely fair.
He even has an arch-nemeisis of the totally gay for him type.

God I hope is fun. I could have some 2018 animu fights in my campy She-Ra cartoon. I would call it pozzed but since by this point He-Man's name brand has been stained with literal cum I'm not in the least bit surprised, but also tells me they wanna have something very "serious".

King Julien, TrollHunters, and Voltron are okay to good, Dragons and Veggietales are okay the rest is cancer as in tumors for the website.

Never watched Puss in Boots after episode 5, they were shit.
Good to know the fag still sucks Twin Peaks dick.

AHKJ is really fucking freaky though. There's episodes that go full fetish fuel and others that hammer in political messages.

Yeah, being a show about a politician (sort of) they do go all over the place with that kind of stuff.
They've reportedly had to rewrite many epiosdes because they made the political parody too hard leaning.

...

Croods was always just kind of meh to me.
A lot of the humor is just the same kind of "It's a modern concept, but in caveman times" this was well worn by the Flintstones.
It kind of feels like it starts finding a direction and starts getting better for it, but the point that starts happening is the very last season.
Home definitely has the better slice of life feel to it.

That's a shame, once story mode starts partway into the second season, it really does start to feel like a much better show.
You can't even really say just skip the first season because all that monster of the week nonsense forms the backbones of everything that's important to what comes after.
In fact, they infuriatingly do it again and the most recent season is a return to monster of the week plots that seem to go nowhere but slowly build up to a big reveal.
It's not their strongest hand to play, but I'm still looking forward to the next season because it will be the last one and have to answer all the plot threads.

Dinotrux? I recognized everything except for that. How the hell did that go under my radar when it already has 5 seasons? There is too much shit that comes out that its hard to keep up. I'm guessing that is bad since it looks like it's based on a toy line.

Even if the endgame appears to be set up to be an evil universe version of Puss in Boots which is just amazingly underwhelming compared to the ancient evil from the pits of hell immediately preceding.

Yeah, it's a very buy all our toys kids show where the power of teamwork and friendship is king (as generally expressed through building stuff).
I would probably have been all about these toys as a kid, so I enjoy the show on that level.

So sad Turbo was already over by the time they decided all of their shows should have one of these.

I won't lie to you, the Croods one was actually cute.
CUTE I SAY
Also, I really like the Voltron one.

...

I can't remember the last time a DWA movie had a non-custom logo

OP is the biggest faggot ever.

I wonder if the 2002 He-Man guys are involved. I also wonder if it's going to be nothing but feminist bullshit.

It’s like they announce a new show each month now.

And yet they still haven't made an official announcement for that Amazon Video Kung Fu Panda show the All Hail King Julien is supposedly working on.

What?

I would think most of these serve more as animator training and building brand recognition than anything serious.

player.fm/series/the-nightfly-with-dave-juskow/live-from-los-angeles-with-mitch-watson
The showrunner for AHKJ matter of factly states it's going to be the team's next project at around 16:20 and clarifies it's for Amazon near the end.
He probably wasn't supposed to say that because he is a lot more vague in printed interviews, but I guess nobody pays attention to what you say in a podcast.

Is there porn of this version of Home?

I can see that.
I wonder if they'll all end up with quirky 2D art styles.
It really seems like they saved that 3D, try to look a lot like the movies for their big franchises.

It's quite sad that the only one of those 3 that looks remotely well animated is the snail one, and that's still pretty mediocre.

That's because it's Titmouse.
It has the weird genesis of existing because the guys at Dreamworks were huge fans of Motorcity and thus asked them to do the same thing for their snail movie.
It has kind of the opposite growth where over time they stop doing cool looking action race plots and just make it all about slice of life comedy.

Weird

No, maybe I should ask for some in the /delicious/ drawthread.

Yeah, but it's not the first time he's been on that podcast and been more candid than one probably should be.
It sounds good though, that crew working on a more action and story driven KFP cartoon.

A lot of them make sense, but who's really looking to reboot harveytoons?

They should outsource it to a japanese studio tbh

Kill yourself user, really do consider it.

but they will turn little Lotta into Pochaco!

They just happen to own the rights, really

What's wrong with that?

i have nothing against Pochaco, but i don't thing mass american audiences are ready for her

The United States: a country in which people flip out if a kid sees 2 seconds of titty, and also the country which is the world's largest producer of pornography.
Sometimes my country depresses me.

Makes you wonder

Netflix's twitter sperguing about it when?

Of course you would, because you have no fucking taste.

user, there's a fine line between putting things like nudity in children's programing and full blown pornography. And don't go screaming "b-b-but Japan" they already have mass society issues and rising suicide rates, plus you need a good reason as to why you want a scene with any form of nudity or else you'll brush off like a creep.

When you kill yourself trying to stir shit.

I hope there's a crossover episode.

No fuck you.

This is pretty much the only show, I have no idea what to expect next. Damn it, I really can't wait to finally have answers. I was expecting next season to be released during this month, but it appears that I still have to wait 42 days. (Not that I'm counting)

I know what you mean, the fact that there are still 4th season finale revelations left unaddressed makes me really curious.
I too was hoping it'd come out this month given that AHKJ and PiB generally release together.

Netflix has nothing, just some badly dubbed animes and shit shows.

It doesn't even have The Mentalist, for fuck's sake, and I want to see the whole series.

The solution to the Red John mystery is really disappointing.

Stay triggered goon.

Sucking off Soros like a good leftie.

I'm having kinda mixed feelings: I really want to see the endgame, but… It's going to be last season, and considering the fact that this is a prequel, it isn't probably going to have a happy ever after ending. In fact, I guess we will never again see San Lorenzo and its inhabitants after this season. And it makes me a little bit sad.

Guess they have to make that second Puss movie

Does anyone know if any of the She-Ra cast ever made it into any of the 39 episodes of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He-Man_and_the_Masters_of_the_Universe_(2002_TV_series) ? I only saw a couple when it came out, hard to follow shows pre-PVR.

Could be good, you know they'd eventually introduce the He-Man cast anyway, much like Superman eventually made it into Supergirl in Season 2, or how Darkwing Duck is scheduled to be thrown into DuckTales.

Trolls is fulls of hip lolis so I think I would enjoy that. Shows can start out goofy and then get dramatic and serious, look what happened to Tangled recently… I cried man. THE FALL.

Is Trollhunters about those things that eat trolls in the film?

Boss Baby / Underpants sounds like homoerotic grbage. Not sure what Harvey St. is.

Hey Holla Forums

Mattel probably has a bigger claim on those characters

What the fuck is your problem?

I know what you mean. King Julien had as happy a prequel "we gotta explain where some of these original characters have gone in the movies" ending as it could possibly have and it still feels very bittersweet.

There isn't really a good way to spin the fact that Puss presumably has to leave them all to be in the Shrek movies.

let's rock

He's legitimately retarded.

I'm curious if this add-on is entirely of Dreamworks' own volition now that they are free of the 12 show contract, or if they've just straight up extended the contract for an entire new set of 12 shows.

Probably extended it.

Before or after the buyout?

I assume it would have happened after since there was that "well, what's going to happen to the upcoming shows" question.

...

I always liked the music videos P&S did.
They should have done them more often.

...

...

A lot of Dreamworks shows have a lot of musical numbers, and while that's definitely the direction Trolls should go, I wonder if it'll go all in and be a one musical number per episode show.

Even if the songs are mostly forgettable like the movie and special?

I do also wonder about that.
They clearly won't be able to use pop songs, so will original songs work just as well?

Regular Show and GotG are the only kid cartoon shows I can think of that use licensed music quite a lot

I guess Gwen Stefani Troll wasn't in Trolls Holiday only because they didn't want her to be the only recast…yet don't recall her having actual dialog in the movie anyway

Seems cookie cutter.

Yeah, it's expensive to license songs.
I hear Regular Show in particular was super expensive because of all that.
Even King Julien could only afford to use the main character's iconic theme song in the pilot and finale.

I'm wondering if any of the shows would recast some of the celebrities who worked previously.

They already did with most DWA shows. The lesser known a voice is, the more likely they’ll come back. Disney has a better track record of retaining much of the same cast, if only because they do slightly less of the things DWA does. (And Disney has the more powerful brand.) Right now all they have is Big Hero 6 and Tangled, both movies that aren’t getting sequels for the foreseeable future.

Undoubtedly all of them.
Only a handful of characters got to keep their movie actors, and none of them celebrity.
Just smaller names like Max Charles as Sherman, Andy Richter as Mort and David Tennant as Spitelout.

The animation just looks so flat.

As Dreamworks has done with some of their other music heavy shows, they’re doing a soundtrack CD for Trolls.
The really short track listing suggest they aren’t doing a song an episode kind of show.

Or alternatively, it is a song an episode show, but it’s being released rapid fire style, 6-7 episodes per season quarterly instead of 13 bi-annually.

...

B-lister at best?

End of Puss in Boots confirmed for January 26.

Oh boy

Both of those shows actually started out as serialized adventures. King Julien was supposed to be more in tone with Exiled before that pitch was rejected. Eventually, Netflix asked them to do that for a special season when they realized how popular serialization has gotten.

Puss was supposed to start with a mini-movie, but the creators didn't want to overwhelm the kids coming off from the Puss in Boots movie with another one, so they made the show a whole lot episode until a season or two later.

I wish in P&S they would add some fake commercials, if airing outside Netflix was never an option

Really, is there any reason to use the two shorts format other than DreamWorks potentially selling to networks?

Well, they have already started selling some of their finished shows to networks, so probably that.
Some fake commercial breaks would probably have helped the TV show nature of the show.

People actually watched it?

It picks up a bit as it goes.
I'm curious as to what the endgame is given that the ancient evil awakened was dealt with seasons ago.
A real "this could have been a good ending, now how do we top this?" scenario

What was the story so far?

Puss in Boots happens across a mysterious girl named Dulcinea who he follows to a hidden city of treasure, which he accidentally breaks the spell keeping it hidden getting him stuck as town defender.
Eventually they start working on replacing the spell, but they’re tricked into summoning an ancient evil instead.
They managed to defeat it, but the portal to the netherworld he was summoned out of is left open which has the town overrun with things pouring out of it.
The multiverse gets broken during this, and an Evil Puss in Boots manages to take control.

Dreamworks finally putting up some more clips of trolls.

fuck off, cuck

would marry her and live out my days with her, raising two beautiful children.

No announcement, but apparently Dreamworks Animation has filed a copyright for Kung Fu Panda: Paws of Destiny.

Amazing if true.
Either way I imagine this show is still years off.

It'll be ready for 2019 I bet

Well, Dreamworks still hasn't acknowledged the upcoming final season of PiB on any of their media outlets, but Netflix has a trailer.

archive.is/wxb1p

hey

Anna Kendrick was the star of Pitch Perfect

Im surprised it lasted for so long.

No one cares.

Part of their deal with Netflix is that the show orders are guaranteed.
So every showrunner can go in knowing their show is going to get 52/78 episodes and no more or less.

Fuck off, no one should care about most of the stuff in this thread

It really makes these shows hard to judge as successes and failures

True.
Like, Croods 2 was canceled during the run of Dawn of the Croods but then uncancelled afterward, but there’s no way to tell if there’s any cause or effect there.
Presumably you would want to be doing these shows for current movies to gauge interest in the franchise, so did anybody go “the show is doing bad/good, maybe we shouldn’t/should do the sequel”?

Trolls is out!
It's got its own logo for the compilation.

We could probably scrape and track toy sales based on the shows off of Amazon and Ebay. Speak of which, reminded me of Dinotrux, a show I'll likely never watch, but want to say I think the toys are cool. I think the Poundersaurus is my favorite.

Ah yes, the ominous silent one.

I like how All Hail King Julien has produced so much incidental party music that other Dreamworks shows borrow some of the songs.
I mean, maybe that's just being lazy, but I find it fun.

I assume since it's all Dreamworks it's like they get to use the songs for free.

I'm not shocked seeing how fastly they turn out these shows

End of Dragons is coming Feb 16.
The Dragon Eye arc has just been building for the entire run of the show, so literally everything has to come together now in this last season, and probably also lead into How To Train Your Dragon 2 while they're at it.

It's not too bad all things considered.
Gives you an idea what to expect from all the future shows since a lot of the crew is shared with some of their past shows.
They're just gonna bounce all the shows around the same handful of studios, which seems like the most economical plan.

The last season of Puss in Boots just dropped. Everything will finally come together!

Only 12 episodes.
I suppose it was naive to think the choose your own adventure special would be a bonus instead of subtracted from the total episode count.

Maybe it’s silly, but there’s something really evocative to me about holding to a trend to subvert it to convey importance.

I was surprised about that. But guess I should have seen it coming.

Comparing to the season 4 this one was quite episodic. The plot itself was pretty much what was excepted. Well except for the fact that evil Puss wasn't mentioned. And the very last scene of the finale. They sort of left the story line open ended. But since Dulcinea is against the Shrek canon, I doubt that they are ever going to continue the story. But who knows. I'd watch it.

To be honest this show has been a lifeline for me. I've got really addicted to it. But mostly in the good way. Since 2015 I've been in the army, broken with my girlfriend, got sick, and lost various relatives. But when I've been going through hard times, there was always a place, where things were well - San Lorenzo. And for the years, when everything else failed, waiting for the new episodes was my reason to wake up in the morning. But now the show has ended, and I feel just as empty as did Puss after leaving the San Lorenzo for the last time. The life must go on. But a part of me is missing. I know it sounds crazy. Heck, I'm in my twenties and I never watch cartoons - except this one. For some reason I really enjoyed this show.

F

I know what you mean.
I got real into both AHKJ and PiB and it was a real bummer when KJ ended.
I was so anxious about what was going to happen with PiB to fit in with continuity I'm unreasonably happy that you're lead to believe they're going for the sad ending to fit with the continuity of the movies only to disregard continuity entirely for a happy ending.

Who are you responding to

Remember, the general topic about the new shows, Trolls included?

Thanks user.

Thank you, user!

Since the titles of two-part finale equate Sinos actions with the actions of show writers. And since Puss and Dulcinea set out for a life of adventure. I believe there is a small chance that we might hear about them sometimes in the future.

Appreciate man.

The series finale of Dragons is in 2 weeks

Another trailer for dragons.
I'm curious when we're going to start hearing about the next new shows.
They all have placeholders in the Netflix catalog except for She-Ra (unless it's going to be called something that doesn't have She-Ra's name in it)

If you don't know, when they say everything is building up to finding King of Dragons, that refers to a Bewilderbeast, the major dragons that feature in HTTYD2.

Am I the only one here hyped for the Captain Underpants series? The movie was pretty much the perfect adaptation of the books, and was objectively the funniest movie of 2017, with genuine, clever and witty humor that wasn't Reddit-tier forced like The Lego Batman Movie or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I need me more of this shit. It can't arrive soon enough.

Kill yourself reddit.

I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to be a mopey, bitter pessimist in order to join the Holla Forumsol kids club.

Voltron is meh
Trollhunters is alright
Everything else is trash or toy commercials

If you have any hope for anything in the current industry, you're either a delusional retard or a shill. Fuck off.

Sorry your dad abused you, user. I guess you can't help but be an insufferably cynical snot to everyone around you after having to endure such an ordeal.

There will be?

Of course there will be! Didn't you see OP?

Someday.

Well, Dragons has a tie everything up into a neat little bow that leads into the movies ending.
Albeit, one that feels a little confusing, assuming giving the egg to Valka implies the Bewilderbeast she has in the movie is only a year or two old.

...

Or maybe the egg will hatch in the third movie?

Trollhunters couldve been much better, animation is great though.

I mean, that could work, but combined with Drago’s “I guess I need to find a Bewilderbeast on my own” comment, I think you’re supposed to interpret it as the beast in the movie.
I think it’s just one of those prequel things where they feel the need to give an unsatisfactory explanation for things in the movie that didn’t really need to be explained.

I just realized that the guy who tries to capture Puss in the opening of his movie looks exactly like Eames from AoPiB.

Spoiler that shit, user.

the cutest dragon

I'm amused that they reused that model for the village idiot in the series.

March seems to be lining up to be one of those content heavy months DWA does from time to time, where something new is announced every friday;
Voltron s5 will be March 2
Trolls s2 will be March 9
Spirit s4 will be March 16
And I can only imagine something else is going to show up for the rest of the month, but as established, Dreamworks is really bad at promoting their shows a whole lot sooner than exactly one month prior.

cuckchan thread, please report and ignore

We aren't expecting you to be "mopey and depressed", we expect you to have a modicum of independent fucking thought, cuckchanner. Stop following what marketers say and accept that it's all gone to shit.

F U C K I N G T H I S

...

Stop twisting our words, cuck. Learn to actually think for yourself before unironically hyping the newest pile of shit.

"Our"? Did you just admit to samefagging?

jesus fucking christ

the fucking double-think on this faggot.

Mod from /cow/ here.

The "everyone I don't like is cuckchan" user is literally one guy who spams his own posts over and over. There are 30+ posts in this thread from him all with the same IDs.

8ch.net/cow/res/231672.html#338484

He's probably trolling, but at this point the amount of effort he puts into it vs the lackluster reaction he gets makes him look really autistic.

You see someone moaning about "cuckchan" it's definitely this guy spamming threads and agreeing with himself. Report and ignore, do not engage.

A friendly PSA from another board.

...

...

Why are you trying to take over the bigger nonpolitical boards lately?

k e k

I thought Holla Forums was supposed to have higher standards than people who enjoy this nushit. Anyone with half a brain cell would agree that the 2010s is the lowest point in the animation industry worldwide. Literally fucking everything released since 2008 was utter trash.

...

Boss Baby has a release date for April 6

Is this legit?

Attached: Nimetön.jpg (473x79, 42.69K)

Pretty big if true.
It would be the first sequel to a Netflix show they've done.
It would explain why the finale is so open ended compared to the other prequel shows that directly tie in to the movie.

Stuff like VeggieTales in the City are borderline cases

This. All of this.

She-Ra just seems a little further out than the rest because as of right now it doesn't even have a placeholder listing in the Netflix catalog.

Attached: underpants.jpg (748x442, 81.39K)

One of the things that fuels my ironic enjoyment of all these shows is that without fail even the most saccharine and episodic shows will abruptly produce a dramatic season finale cliffhanger every couple of seasons.

Attached: runaway girl.webm (720x405 1.54 MB, 2.2M)

why does that cgi show look like it's claymation?

it's like they just removed every second frame or something

They may still have to sort some legal issues with Mattel

twitter.com/DWAnimation/status/976602325048422401

I wonder what KJ does that sets it so high above the rest.

what's the deal with the spirit show? didn't he belong to some indian in the movie?

It's his son.

Attached: Spirit face.jpg (1920x824 412.49 KB, 202.09K)

ok, but why did they get rid of the indians?

das racist yo

Netflix is coming up with a huge list of new animated shows. I recently read they greenlit some cartoon based on a book series about zombies.

Didn't they finish clearing those out by then?

Attached: train escape.webm (720x405, 6.14M)

I want an indian loli god dammit

Attached: 1511571844348.gif (400x307, 452.16K)

Dang, even Dinotrux is getting in on the dramatic cliffhangers.
And this is the one new season that doesn't end with a teaser trailer that tells you what time to expect the next season, what gives?

Attached: the fall.webm (720x405, 10.33M)

Well this is amazing.
Sadly, I can already tell it won't have a meaningful overarching story with character growth, especially with those stock voice actors/characters.

You aren't wrong, they do tend to learn similar lessons over and over again.
All the growth instead goes into the quality of the things they create.

Attached: bridges in seasons 1 and 4.jpg (800x900, 403.69K)

Fuckers.
I was genuinely engaged by that fight. Cool choreography and weapons.
I am constantly frustrated at western animation and its lack of commitment to actual story.

Does this guy have a different singing voice?

Yeah, we'll have to see.
It's been dabbling a bit more and more in doing arcs, but it's been light, this is the first season finale cliffhanger in 65 episodes, it'll be interesting if they can resolve it right away or if it becomes a longer arc.
Thoughout the season each of them used superchargers to augment their bodies and power themselves up, so I can imagine if they just find some more superchargers they can all use their power armor to save the day.

It's supposed to be. Like with home they picked a voice actor based specifically on their singing ability.
Skylar Astin has done musicals and such.

Attached: super dozer.jpg (1600x900 364.97 KB, 368.11K)

That was surprisingly engaging. Not something I'm going to go out of my way to watch, but if I were a 1st grader, this would have probably hooked me right away.

From what it seems, he can do the voice, but his singing voice drifts back into his own voice when forced to sing at higher ranges.

It's always Goldfinger
