Post cartoons that aged like milk

It's like all the bad parts of SVTFOE (minus cuckshit) with generic plotlines

fuck you

fuck yourself

It already takes place in the far future, yet as the series progressed more current year shit is shoehorned in at a sad attempt to make it culturally relevant.

Isn’t Bender the pickle Rick of futurama now?

If you mean in any sense but the graphics I'll fite you

MLAATR had a couple hot episodes involving pet play slavery and shit though right?

...

Original seasons hold up quite well, although they do still fall prey to the occasional out of place pop culture reference or celebrity cameo. The later, newer seasons are so overloaded with CURRENT YEAR social media jokes that it consumes the show. Instead of being one-off gags, they are the central element of entire episodes.

As in the most popular asshole character that everyone loves? I guess but I never thought he got that cringy and even then his flaws are pointed out and his behavior isn't glorified.

Juniper Lee. Not because of the time period its set in or anything like that. Its just a mediocre cartoon.

Mind you the milk was rancid to begin with

Eh I felt parts of that were good. Huntsman started out as an interesting villain but was ruined after the redesign. That and from what I remember it could get dramatic with the Crystal Skulls arc.

She looks like she has easter eggs for eyes.

But it looks like shit

I agree with all of those. Good thread.

I think everyone thought that, even at the time. Here's a cartoon that I thought was terrible the moment I saw it and makes me misremember or misspells the name every time I think about it. Chop Socky Chooks. Time has made me forget what even happened on the show and I guess I'm grateful for that. Same with Butt Ugly Martians.

I liked Heroes 101, though likely not for the reason that it was intended. It's an inside joke that is hard to explain. At least it seems easy to watch now since back then, the only ones available for rewatch was video captures off a TV than a recording. I'll have to get back to it and see if it is still unintentionally funny as what I remember.

You mean Hero 108? Because I vaguely remember that show, but it still confuses the fuck out of me. It came out of nowhere, was never advertised, I think it was Canadian made but all about some ancient chinese legend, the writing was weird as fuck.. Nothing about that show made any fucking sense. It was like listening to someone tell you an in-joke that you weren't in on.

I ignore the flaws because the porn was good.

This was on CN right? Everything past 2007 on CN was trash. A lot of them were bland and samey.

Oh god I remember those ones. That period was a dark time for cartoons.

Would Skunk Fu be considered garbage. I always thought it was meh and the only thing that stood out was the relationship between the Panda and the Dragon villain.

Fuck I remember this, I used to think that the world was kind of neat and all after that was pretty bizarre. Also fun fact: according to wikipedia the series was producer by the studio Aardman

The little I saw (I think no more than 3 episodes before it disappeared from the channel) it was pretty ok, Skunk attitude could get tiring after a time I think everyone remembers well Fox

Just like CN today!

Ah I was trying to remember the name of this show. It really was't that bad, but as you said it was weird as fuck.
For instance, that guy on the left who looks like a bird wear that weird contraption to keep his hands locked in place so he doesn't tickle anyone.

It has a really bizarre style to it and the writing is just as fucked up, with characters called shit like "Mr Nohands" and "Jumpy Ghostface" and then they go and fight zebras who hate trees and use an army of turtles on treadmills.. and the entire time you're just trying to figure out what it is you're missing that made everything make sense.

I only remember the center guy since he did this thing with his staff which doubled as a long blow dart where he used his palms to push the darts out of the staff.

Neck yourself

It was inspired by The Water Margin, a story perhaps better recognized by the name Suikoden

This. Anyone who didn't understand that Bender's entire purpose was to tell the audience to not be that guy is either brain dead or severely autistic.

I'm somewhat familiar with it, and I kind of figured the "108" was related to the Water Margin legend in some way, but that's such a weird fucking thing to make into a poorly animated flash cartoon.. and then to do absolutely nothing to make that known and butchering everything about it in the process. I keep repeating myself, but that shit is weird as hell.

...

I respect your right to have a shit opinion, OP.

Well then go back to get 108 outlaw Chinese warriors get beaten by a single 7 foot tall noble African male, aka the most perfect being on earth, that's why his life equals roughly 108 lives and matters the most.

I used to love this show as a child.
Now as a manchild, I hate the three main characters and feel the Hartman style just doesn't work too well for an action show.

The main difference is it feels like it was part of the Powerpuff Girls trend rather than the MLP trend

I don’t think MLAALR did’t age that badly, I think its the original 11 min run time that’s holding it back.

I remember liking this

What made you hate it now if you loved it as a kid?

I'll never get this show. At one point it tried to get all serious and deep. And yet, they did this for a protagonist who is an Asian wigger. The writers clearly tried their best or at the very least TRIED, but they seemed to forget that they were trying to make me care about the inner struggles of a kid who talks like HEEEYO JAKE LONG IN DA HIZZOUSE *beatboxes* AYO HUNTZMAN IM ABOUT GO ALL MACK DADDY ON YO BEHIND HA HURR? Had this been any other kid, this may have worked, but I cannot take any character who talks like a PG version of the AYO HOL' UP copypasta seriously. Also the redesign was shit. I get that it was weird for an Asian character to have his dragon form be based on a European dragon, but I'd rather have a Eurasian dragon than a green haired Johnny Test stuck to a snake with limbs.

At least there was some fucking variety back then and you didn't get AN ENTIRE WEEK BLOCK OF THE SAME FUCKING SHOW TWENTY-FOUR FUCKING HOURS A DAY!

The dragon redesign I thought was because they tried to make him more like a Chinese dragon. Granted his head looks stupid. It's a shame since it had potential if they cut out the chigger shit.

Honestly, I thought this was his best show but I get the feeling if I rewatch it again it won't be as good.

it only looks like shit because it was mid-late 90s CGI on a TV budget and the first cartoon of its kind. The story and plot lines were AMAZING for it's time and made you forgive the shit quality graphics. not to mention the animation quality got far better in the later seasons.

I liked it, then again I saw it in LatAm dubbing so the protagonist wasn't annoying to me but even then that's really not a reason to say a show is bad since it really doesn't go against the character's personality, after all, Jake is a 12-14yo living in Brooklin, that's almost the goddamn title.

So am I the only one who likes the redesign better than the original? idk, after watching both in movement, I just think the redesign has pretty smooth animation, the first one is less shitty looking at first glance but now it looks so jerky and cringy in comparison.

The first season is usual Butch Hartman, believing the cheap comedy of the 90's was ever funny.
The second one is actually enjoyable and the third one is the previous two shoved in a blender, will you get a good or a cringy episode today? Who knows?!

samurai jack. I watched it to see what all the hullaballo was about.

it was clearly just an excuse to have a plethora of different fight scenes. story and characterization are always kept second or third place in terms of importance.

I think I enjoyed the online flash games more than the show.

It's a shame it ended on a cliffhanger and that the company who owns it wants to do a reboot ha with live action kids.

What?

Nothing wrong with that.

>archive.is/r8fjl
It's called Reboot: The Guardian Code and it looks like shit.

t. 10 year old

It's painful to think about

Cuckqueans are not as bad as cuckolds.

This used to air on BBC2 when I was a kid. I remember they just stopped airing it halfway through, they even said "Cubix will be back same time tomorrow" but it just wasn't and was never mentioned again.
I was so goddamn pissed off.

Fuck I even had an action figure and activity book. Drew the big black robot that worked for the bad guy. Probably what got me into mecha today.

I think the older seasons still hold up. The occasional references didn't feel too shoehorned and out of place.
The later seasons can go fuck themselves. With maybe a couple exceptions, most later episodes otherwise were just forced memes and pop culture references that felt jarring and out of place in a show that's supposed to take place 1000 years after said events. (Was there any episode worse than the iPhone episode? Because even when I used to think the later seasons were redeemable I still hated it.) I know there was an episode about Obama's birth certificate but I missed half of it. I don't plan on finishing it.

I remember this existed, but I hated the theme song and how the show looked so I skipped it.

I liked this more than FoP and thought the concept was neat, but someone else should have done it. The user who reviewed this nailed a lot of issues with it. Will Butch ever learn proper shading and perspective so his drawings don't look so flat?

I guess it suffered the same fate the Simpsons did. The original premise was to parody something, then it started parodying everything until all it could do is parodying itself.

I learned much later after it stopped airing that Cubix is actually Korean, which was why it had such an unusual style to it.

Whenever a show gets a revival, there’s always the need to fill it with contemporary references in case people forget it’s not a rerun

posting the holy trinity of american cartoons with a shitty azn aesthetic that prove that you don't need anime to be a fucking weeb.

You forgot Kappa Mikey and that Jaden Smith garbage.

don't know what kappa mikey is tbh. and the gayden smith shit is to anime to make the list.

fuck off jackie chan adventures was dope

Def a throwback to 80s celb cartoons, right down to the live-action ending bumpers. Say, why didn't Class of 3000 have those?

HEY! (hey)
YOU! (you)
OUT IN THE STREETS

It's not. Don't do it. The concept itself is great, but the show has too many Butch Hartmanisms in it, including the style and sound effects.

girl looks cute

I miss the fox box

andre 3000 actually did his own voice, unlike jackie chan

I remember this (alien) bitch too.

Really anyone who wants to see should start at season 2 where there is actually a story.

...

here you go, a really shit show that outweighs tom preston's pirate comic.

Nah. Neo Yokio's exact problem isn't that it's a weeb show, it's that it's not enough of a weeb show. It sets up this elaborate visual gag with a color palette, cast and soundtrack that screams shojou, but the humor and plot are distinctly American. Even the setting, which should be a character in its own right, never gets and background besides "the greatest city on Earth."

The show would be 100% improved if it was done in a distinctly "American" animation style, but that would require there be a such thing as a unifying American style. As it stands it never goes farther than "LOL Japan!"

I thought it was stupid back then and I still stand by my statement.

I think that's Rick's purpose too. It's just that 90% of "very smart" Rick and Morty fans are too dumb to understand their own show.

All I remember from the show is its opening.

That was shit when it first aired. (I desperately tried to like it because of how much I loved TLA. It ended up just getting even worse throughout its run. I don't think I've ever been so let down by a show before.)

Let's not blow things out of proportion

say again?

I remember being vaguely aroused by Ami and then later a bit more by Yumi, both for reasons I can't even fathom.

Spats.

What they doing now anyway?

...

Super Duper Sumos is like Butt Ugly Martians or Captain Planet: it was never good, but nothing else was on. Those were dark times.
