Is It Going to Go the Way of the Steam Controller?

Why did Valve have to kill VR? Now, once again, it falls on the shoulders of Sony to save a piece of tech, unfortunately tho I think the damage is done. Good job Valve.

VR is as much of a gimmick as motion controls, voice commands, and view tracking. It will only make a difference when it's standard on every PC/console and devs can guarantee that people have access to the device. Otherwise, it's a niche toy for idiots to blow their money on.

...

...

pic related.

You can spot fags who haven't tried VR just as easily as you can spot a virgin.

/thread

I honestly wonder why anybody here expected anything else.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that CrowbCat is makes the best videos on JewTube

They took a 11 hour stream where they love the device and edited it down to 20 minutes of things taken out of context to make it look bad.

youtube.com/watch?v=OknS2wfHi9E

I don't think there's any sony pheripheral you couldn't somehow use on PC. There's PS1/PS2 joystick adapters, 3rd party software for PS3/PS4 joysticks and PS move and PS eye, both PS2 and PS3, I'm not sure about the PS4 camera but I'm sure there should be too. There's no reason to think the PSVR wouldn't be usable on PC (whenever sony wants it or not) and it will probably be cheaper than both VIVE and Oculus.

Maybe because they've actually tried a VR device?

Nah, Nintendo save gimmicks, like motion controls and voice commands.

I haven't tried VR, but then tell me, what differentiates it from gimmicks?

Like the wii u?

Words can't describe it. You just have to try it. With a gimmick like everything Nintendo makes you play that shit and put it away forever, like the Wii and the shitty Kinect from Microshit. But with this you'll have a hard to going back to sitting on the couch playing from the distance.

The difference is with this you're actually inside the game. You won't want to go back.

Needs to be sub $400 to even be remotely successful.

What? You surely don't mean the NES Vegeta scouter, right?

It's not really much of a gimmick but something that won't get old after 20 minutes.

And no you can't "get a feel" for it from watching jewtube videos. It tricks your mind into thinking you are psychically in the game. Horror games are intense as fuck. Take it from this reddit cuck in pic related. He wasn't even playing a real VR game, just a shitty mimic of a VR game.

Your thread is shit OP
Check em

...

I doubt that very much. 3D games didn't stop me and a bunch other people from going back to 2D games.

so, like always, it's better to be a smart consumer and wait until a peripheral has a high install base and good games and two or three iterations of the product that work better

reminder that the only REAL cucks in this thread are the ones who throw their money at a gimmick on day 1 instead of keeping their shekels to spend on already high quality successful things

Pick your autistic ass and go to a convention you dumb goy.

Go try it, user. It's incredible. Unless you're a chick though. In which case, I don't recommend you try it unless you're in a padded room.

You'll be able to try them at stores soon, you poverty stricken motherfucker.

The VRIDF is shilling hard in ITT.

fucking this
where are you at, cuckerberg shills
why aren't i being told to sign up for facebook?

...

COOL! WALKING SIMULATORS WILL BE EVEN MORE REAL NOW!
That's what it looks like, fag. By that explanation I don't see how can it add any depth to games that aren't first person, or even first person games at all. That's what gimmicks do. I wouldn't play disgae there.

Sure they are.
I honestly see some potential on VR, but firstly I don't think it will improve all genres, just a few. Imagine playing a 2D fighter with VR, what would be the point?

...

Keep bitching Sourgrapes, your tears sustain me.
Ill be atmospherically mauled by dogs inno time, just you see

Don't waste your time on Holla Forums. VR headsets aren't something you can pirate, so the butthurt sets in a they call it a gimmick to make themselves feel better. When they finally get one, which they will, they'll be talking about how it's the greatest thing ever.

you need like 3 generations to fix this trainwreck, to get a better device for porn nip games

This is you

fuck off shill

The hardware is just too new, right now it's worthless as is.

What I don't understand is why are all the VR devs trying to push the tech where it doesn't want to go instead of going where it takes them.
Where are all the first person rail shooters? That would make a lot more sense than having a "free roaming" environment where you have to ender pearl everywhere.

YES, VR, THE NEXT SCAM SINCE OUYA

I was tempted to work on a time-crisis style game for VR but that'd mean forking out like $1500 for a vive. Fuck that shit.

osvr exists

A rail shooter would actually be cool. I just wonder if VR would make it better in any meaningful way

I think everyone is just cautious. Besides, a hardware is only worth getting if you can pirate it, and I think VR piracy is a thing anyway. Although, I'm not sure.
Waste of quads.

This. As far as I'm aware, last time I saw a VR thread some anons said the resolution is really low since it can't support higher resolutions.
I usually don't care about low resolution, but how can you play a game that "surrounds your environment" with low resolution?

I don't hate VR, I think is interesting, but at this stage it might be actually hurtful for games. But fine, you just want realistic experiences with no buttons This is where I don't know how it works, controls and shit. Enjoy your next gen walking simulator, fag.

That actually sounds pretty good. Although, try HotD Overkill and do something like that.

How can you "control" that shit anyway? Guessing it works like Kinect? Motion controls?

The idea is to use motion controllers too, not just VR. Plus I'm already working on a few non VR projects, as I don't really care all that much for VR atm, as I haven't tried it. The other idea is to make Black and White VR + motion controls edition.

lmao wtf? And then they wonder why nobody makes anything for PC gamers anymore

I honestly doubt motion controls + VR would work with rail shooter. How you will be able to aim?
HotD Overkill, nigga.

...

Will vr make pov more popular? I think it's worth it just to watch my vns in first person. And won't demo stations be pretty common eventually like that other user suggested?

What does that have to do with anything?
PS2, DS and Wii were moddable, and that helped them to sell a lot. Dunno how much it hurt game devs, but I couldn't care less, the hardware sold, a lot.

I used the Vive for 2 hours over the weekend, if it was $400 I would buy one today but for the price they are asking I'll wait for the Vive 2 because the res is low enough to be an issue.
As for well made games that use it properly instead of as a gimmick I highly recommend store.steampowered.com/app/450540/ and store.steampowered.com/app/418650/

In before people that have never used a Vive tell me how shit it is

use bluetooth and hook up a wii mote because it just werks

I'm getting the PS4 VR cause HD headset and controller support with built in wagglin, Oculus already has DRM and VIBE is broken as fuck, so the PS4 will probably be the easiest to configure and the least troublesome

Unless the rumor that you'll need the NEO to run it is true, in which case, fuck that noise. I'll just buy a cardboard and watch youtube vids

OP is either a troll or a legit retard to even suggest that Sony's pathetic attempt at VR will "save" it.

You're thinking of Nintendo user. Go to the catalog and look for them amiibo threads

I'm guessing it controls like the Wii, but worse if you need to account for all the space. I guess VR would work better if it's only for complementing traditional genres like shooters, not trying to reinvent the wheel on it.

All the outright hostile butthurt came after price reveal after the cringe of the Cuckullus panel.
Its quite comedic actually.

What trainwreck nigger?
The Facekike one?
If you had any hope for Cuckulus after the Kikebook acquisition and coincidental car accident you might as well kill yourself.
I dont give a fuck about games made for these pieces of shit, I just want to play a normal average game outside th 2D plane.

He never implied that newfag, are you this desperate to fit in?

How nigger?
What the fuck are you talking about?
Do you actually think that only games made for the purpose of VR are compatible for VR?

fucking this. 720p is barely becoming unbearable for me, but anything below is disgusting. like I own a Vita, and the resolution isnt so bad for a handheld, but holy shit, getting a 3DS was the biggest mistake. "But its unnoticeable if you turn on 3D" literally no one uses the 3D on the 3ds, and the Big screen of the NEW 3DS only makes the 240p screen more disgusting. even the PSP had higher resolution

it's getting late man. calm down or go to bed

Feelsgoodmane

Same way time crisis works at the arcade, or wii games work with the wiimote for motion controls. Unless that's not possible. I haven't really looked into the technology for them, as I'd have to buy shit first to get it working. I have more interest in non-vr games anyway.

Enjoy your iPhone

No they didn't. I watched that stream after it was uploaded to youtube(mostly as background noise) and it's a pretty accurate summary.

Go watch Giant Bomb's most recent VRodeo. youtube.com/watch?v=ju_Khu0Rc6Q

The games are all expensive tech demos, asides for pong/breakout games in VR that looks about 1/10th as fun as real ping pong against a wall once the novelty wears off. That wall climbing one by crytek one they showed at the end on the CV1 was by far the worst for something like $40.

That VR wrap up came out 2 weeks ago and they barely had anything worthwhile to show. They're struggling to fill an entire hour every month with new VR stuff.

Both Valve and Facebook really jumped the gun with this shit launch. Almost all of the tech demos they've shown are still in beta. Had they waited in Holidays 2016 it would have had some decent working software hopefully, as well as real VR controllers for the CV1.

You can do a search on local classifieds for VR; some are renting it out by the hour to try out before buying.

Oh boy, shooting gallery in VR game #27; I'm sure that will do well. At least this one has a realistic technical aspect to set it apart. Even with Ben whining like a little bitch about how guns scare him this tech demo is impressive.

...

Waiting on better optimization, more software, better and cheaper versions, and more porn.

Operator Simulator 2016?

By making more games with no substance. As I can see ITT, VR doesn't even have controls of it's own. VR is basically a fancy surrounding screen, that will motivate lazy devs to do casual games. I think VR is not for games at all.
Then you can just use a normal monitor that isn't 900$. If I'm wrong, please feel free to point it out.

I do, and if you didn't, it's your own fault. Everything looks much better with 3D on.

Probably to regain the money they wasted on it.

Arcade works with light guns, and I think Wii Mote would be too imprecise for a VR "surrounding" rail shooter, if that's what you want.
My concern is,without a reticle, like arcades, you have to trust your own aiming, and aiming with a VR set on your face would be kind of hard, if not awkward.

...

Much like the Internet, the primary purpose of VR is porn. On the merits of porn alone, VR will boom. Then games and other shit will happen. Porn just isn't talked about because it's not polite to, but everyone is going to be using it for that, and that's why it will be a success.

Soon you too will be able to watch your digital waifu ride you while you're comfy in your bed eating your chicken tendies all the while. :3

Correct. VR is a product for degenerates. The sooner it takes off and slowly drains them out of society, the better.

Society will never stop generating degenerate scum.

Grand Theft Auto Vive

are you both implying degeneracy is wrong?

DON'T TRIGGER Holla Forums

...

Yeah, I had trouble with that video once it started trying to make Job Simulator look bad, when its probably the best VR game out right now

When you have a proper set up for it, the thing apparently works amazingly well..

But here's the problem. You take every possible customer on the planet. From that, you take those with PCs powerful enough to use the damned thing. Then take those willing to drop 900$. Then take those who have the capability to set up and use these ridiculous things on a regular basis.

This is an ultra-niche product for idiots, and no one will bother investing the time or money into developing games for it, because they are guaranteed to lose money.

to be completely honest with you fam

as a vive owner

you're fuckin' high, H3VR is the dopest shit

Kek.

What's probably going to happen is that everything except Vive will eat shit for various and sundry reasons, mostly pricing, and then by the next console generation we'll have the next VR generation on PC (OR might survive; I dunno) and Sony and Microsoft will ship a neutered Vive (the current Vive, not the next iteration) knockoff with their ninth-gen consoles for a more "reasonable" price, say an extra ~$250. Assuming that console prices are similar to what they've been, that means that you could get set up with a basic console and basic VR for $650 (not that much if you're buying a console at launch anyway) and that way the console manufacturers can make sure that as many launch and early titles as possible are compatible so that there's an incentive to buy into the tech.

But hey, at least this boondoggle might finally kill Sony so I'm all for it.

call me when theres an MP5k, MPX, a Moist nugget, or an AN94 and I'll change my mind

Honestly, I won't give a fuck about VR until we have something like pic related.

Fuck, forgot the file.

universal rail system is implemented dawg, AN94 coming soon

ok actually probably not just going to get ak47 like usual

idiots or people with money and space

like me

Also, I'd rather have an actual Gun Shaped controller if I'm gonna use a gun simulator. Also Time Crisis VR when???

VR isn't going to be good until it's paired with an omnidirectional treadmill and haptic gloves. And even then it'll still have limited appeal, most people would rather just sit on the couch and relax.

true facts, no recoil makes me 1000x better shot with the g22 than I am at the range with my g23

...

Also, fuckin World of Guns needs to get their asses to work on this VR shit

Holy shit did you actually think it was going to be like you were in SOA?
How fucking autistic are you?

0/10

This triggers me on so many levels

would be nice to look at but I wouldn't pay more than $5 for it probably, can't imagine them getting it photoreal, too much 3D modelling stuff

tbh it's the biggest failure of H3VR, it depends too much on traditional graphics tricks like bump mapping and parallax occlusion mapping on the guns, so they just look like video game guns, very polygonal in VR

looks are tertiary to operating the fuck out of the dev's apartment though

No, I didn't think that, but then I'm right, it's just a fancy 900$ monitor. I insist, the only market I can see for VR is walking simulators and FPS.Any other form of vidya that isn't in first person will find no use for VR, which actually makes it worst than a gimmick. At least the WiiMote worked like a regular controller.

It's a concept. GTA doesn't even have native VR support and that's an Oculus. The gun can't be tracked.

confirmed troll. kill yourself

Watching girls use it is fun.

Well, not everything, but most of the times it looks smoother with the 3D on. A screencap doesn't really capture it, tho. You have baby eyes so you can't use 3D or what?
Also, why is the resolution different in those?

...

I don't know but it's possible the 3DS scales down to a lower resolution to pull off the 3D at an acceptable framerate

clearly lowers graphical fidelity

I don't think murdering your eyes is anything to be proud of.

...

Ok, so you're clearly a retard who talks out of his ass.
Enjoy being a retard son.

>>>/cuckchan/

Welp, at least Ill have some guarenteed replies

good lord, kill yourself

Has anyone tried wii and gamecube games yet? Even PSP games are getting VR support through emulators. All of this is in it's extremely early stages, but I wonder if all legacy console emulators will get VR support too?

I've heard Metroid VR, Paper Mario and Mario64 are awesome.

Webm or fuck off.

Jesus Christ, that ass in unreal.

That sounds likely. I also think the first pic looks better for the anti aliasing, that works naturally with the 3D on.
3D games on 3DS doesn't really work that well, look at Senran Kagura, for example. Too much resources for what the 3DS is.
Still, most games like Shantae looks better with 3D.

I'm not, I just have developed eyes. Also, do you have a regular N3DS or XL?

Just
Use
A
Monitor
You just, once again, proved my point. VR is nothing than a fancy 900$ monitor. I can play that game perfectly on the monitor I'm using right now, without having to expend 900$ on a glorified one.
I never said that, I said it's pointless to do otherwise. Like playing stepmania with keyboard, fag.

You apparently didn't under

user, is a fucking visual effect that needs both your eyes and special lighting to work. Screenshots doesn't work, you dense retard. In this I agree with VR fags about testing VR, but I wouldn't expect your baby eyes to understand that.

Wait no, only in the thumbnail is it.

Didn't understand what I said from the beggining. Basically, there's no point in using VR in other games that aren't first person.I can just use my monitor, which isn't 900$.

CANT YOU HEAR user? VR IS A SCAM BECAUSE I CANT BUY IT AND ITS ON ITS EARLY STAGES ITS ALREADY DEAD AND EVERYONE WHO DOESNT AGREE IS A SHILL!
I miss 2014 8/v/ man

I cry sometimes while thinking about it

Also, I don't pretend I know a lot about VR, I don't, but ITT only shows what I said from the beggining, it's just a fucking monitor.
So I'm the cameraman in a third person game or what? Fucking retarded.

Are you a Nintentoddler?

No, it's not you butthurt faggot. Don't worry, it'll come down in price and you can finally stop being an idiot.

My god, what a waste of trips, showing you're truly satan.

How it isn't different from a monitor, then?

Crowbcat seems extreme because he is the truth in a sea of lies on youtube.

Even if the people at Giant Bomb honestly thought VR mostly sucks for what it's worth right now would any of them say so? Their audience is there to watch them to hype up products not tear them down.

They're actually good at what they do, not over the top like most youtubers. Their opinion was certainly misrepresented but it doesn't mean it's inaccurate either. It was as much an attack piece on the current state of VR as the youtubers who oversold it with fake reaction videos filled with screaming. By showing what an honest reaction to using it does look like.

user, kill yourself.

...

Here, I will provide information as to how I'm planing to do it.
It wasn't hard, it proves that I'm actually planing on doing it, and it was hardly easy to explain what method will I use.
Which makes me wonder, how can you prove it is not just a fancy monitor? Maybe because it is?

Do you understand how 3D works???
it makes the game blurrier, but better looking. it's still pixelated

I never said 3D makes resolution better. I said it makes it better looking, which you said so yourself. Seriously, look from here:
I even said it's just a visual trick rather than actual improvement, which makes me go to the first point, if you didn't use it, it's your own fault, baby eyes.

Whats this cancerous piece of shit?
Fuck it , it doesnt matter.

Its just like a 2D monitor user, its just the same as using a normal generic2D monitor no difference, hopefully you feel better about yourself now.

You can't really explain it. Even watching youtube videos of it doesn't even convey it correctly to someone who hasn't tried it. But I'll try.

Let's say you're playing a racing game on a monitor. It just looks straight and the game stops where your monitor ends. If you turn your physical head all you'll see is your room, your ceiling, your room's floor. You have to look at the game through a window (your monitor). But in VR you'll feel like you're actually in the car itself. Not in your room.

With VR there is no escaping the world you're in. Every direction you turn is more of the game. You're not interacting from a distance anymore, from the safety of your room. Your brain is tricked into thinking you're actually in that situation.

Again, all the words int the world can't describe it. Just find somewhere to try it one day. You'll understand.

It's been what, a month since this came out?

Calm your tits.

I want to play this so bad, anons.

again, it doesnt trick your eye into looking better. its just blurrier. unless you have shitty eyesight, its still gonna be pixelated as fuck

you fucking faggot, made me whip out my 3DS just to prove how retarded you are

first pic is 3D off, 2nd is 3D on. Notice how you can still see the jaggies from a mile away

you fucking Nintendrones are the shittiest fanbase of all, I swear. how many amiibos you own, fag?

Has anyone here with a vive or oculus tried doing this? What's it like?

4chan 2010. You probably don't know because you look like you're new here.
And yes, I do, thanks.

That sounds cool and all user. But here is my point.
See this vid
That game is just a regular 3rd person platformer. So, say, if I turn my head around, it will move the camera or some shit. Well, that's cool, but that's just a fancy replacement for a c-stick.
Look, I knew from the beggining that it worked the way you described it, which makes me wonder how things like this exist
It looks damn cool that you can hover over the field and shit, seriously, but it doesn't add literally anything to the game other that a new camera perspective, which is pretty shitty. How would it even work with 2D games like super metroid?
Now this this is cool. But why? Because is fucking first person.

I know user. But seriously, even the way you described it for me doesn't shake the feeling of"Expensive monitor". If it was more accessible, then I'm sure it would be fucking cool, as for now, is just stupid to own one.

And what other games can you play right now?

Isn't the helium tank method much easier and safer to do?

I haven't, but I've tried other traditional/flat games made VR and they're all basically subpar

games built from the ground up for room scale VR feel the best

it is p fuckin' nifty to have bright, vibrant, head-tracked 3D, no doubt, but that's all stuff like that is. tangentially fuck oculus for putting out lucky's tale holy shit it actually made me sick and I can play spell fighters vr with touchpads and keep my legs under me, that there is a first party game by oculus that uses swooshy, accelerating locomotive camera is telling as fuck. so glad I didn't buy rift, esp considering revive works perfectly

Theres no helping you user

Development for it by the Dolphin team is only on the Vive and OSVR HDK now. They dropped the CV1.

dolphin-emu.org/blog/2015/05/13/a-second-perspective/

Wow, you're more retarded than I thought.
ds.about.com/od/nintendods101/f/How-Does-The-Nintendo-3ds-Project-3d-Images.htm
3DS project 2 images while the 3D
You can't fucking prove how it works with a pic, faggot.Good thing I wasn't born with baby eyes. If you can't notice the difference of the 3D on/off in a game like Phoenix Wright, then kill yourself.

Dunno, I had it there for a long time.

Here's your (you)

Hopefully all non paid devs do the same

you contradict yourself, you fucking moron

What does resolution have to 2 with the game looking better with an illusion trick, user? I have an idea, take another picture of an stereoscopic image, you fucking idiot.

Here, check this out, easy to get stuff and cheap, easy to make and guaranteed pain free, and you don't risk anybody that might get into your house like your family and firemen.

the only trick is you getting tricked by Nintendo, unless you're a legit shill.
Go get your eyes fixed.

You're the retard that bought it.

Let me guess, your eyes hurt by the use of 3D,baby eyes? Also, how I'd be a shill if you already own one? I'd actually be insulted if you're not using CFW. But you're probably that retarded.

Sounds great user. Thanks.

ty anons. I hope this gets better.

I worked with CAVE rooms in the '90s and I told you faggots that VR 3.0 was going to fail just as hard as the last two times as the core movement issue was never solved. And here we are.

no, the 3D doesnt hurt my eyes. the Pixelation does

It isn't noticeable with the3D on thanks to the parallax barrier barrier effect that mess with your eyes and brain.
So you probably have eyes or brain problems.

Nintentoddler trough and trough

I bet you dont believe in 60FPS either hahahaha

How many Amiibo do you own, Nintendrone?

We are getting desperate now, are we?
I bet you believe 30fps is unplayable.

it's not a matter of the emulation or implementation not being top notch, because that stuff's all just about perfect; it's just a fundamentally different experience than what VR is best at.

If what you want is fully head tracked 3D at significantly higher resolutions than the games were originally rendered at, it works exactly as you'd like, but that isn't what VR is best for. VR is really good at making you feel like you're in a place. walking around in VR feels good. shooting things in VR feels good. doing something behind you because you can hear what you're doing locally and have a fantastic sense of where "behind you" is because you know where your hands are feels good. looking at a game happening in front of you and being the camera with a controller feels like playing a video game. it's not the worst, it's just not really new. it's significantly better than 3D glasses and a 3D monitor, but it's not really game changing.

I've had the vive for nearly a month now and while I like the game-like games on it, I suspect not-games (simulators like h3vr & flight sims, social experiences, exploration experiences like the "postcards" in The Lab, the blu, stuff without a solid parallel to the real world or video games as they used to exist like tiltbrush & job simulator, etc) are going to be the killer apps for VR. shooters like hover junkers still feel dope, and since a friend also picked one up, hanging out in the same ship as him and communicating and duckin' under bullets and being the driver while he does the dirty on some punk niggas in the ride over is fucking awesome, but ultimately just being in a place, especially a place with other people (I have grown to know my friend kind of too well because of the vive, turns out his body language reveals him to be a real… flamboyant dude… he strikes jojo poses after he does the clap back), is the best part about VR.

I was going to ask whether or not retro games could be recreated for VR, then I found this:

youtube.com/watch?v=WxK_WJ-V1c8

This is cool. They should make more like this, but I doubt faggy Nintendo would be OK with it. Devs definitely won't be able to sell it. Maybe Nintendo themselves will do it?

I proved you wrong here

you havent proven yourself right.

also, answer the question. How many Amiibos do you own??

You didn't. You only thought that it was a good idea to take a picture to an stereoscopic display, which only makes you a retard.

None, I'm poor. I would have get some at launch but now it's just shit. I lost all interest with "Special edition Link amiibo which is totally different from normal Link amiibo". That's not what amiibos were supposed to be.

holy shit, you're stupid.

yeah, it figures Ninty isn't paying that well, considering how hard the WiiU flopped

also "board game" video games, where the action plays out in front of you in miniature on a floating platform. there are only a couple of those games but man, there is something just too fuckin' fascinating and entertaining about tiny people doing what you want them to do.

oh and porn.

olowrider.tumblr.com/post/145110411911/vr-model-viewer-v061-jiggle-everywhere

...

Summer is here.

The burden of proof is on you, user. I stated 3D looks better because of an illusion trick, which have nothing to do with resolution or even anti aliasing, which is not necessary with the 3D on, and I provided source on how it works to prove it right here

On the other hand you said no one used 3D, which I do, and thought that only because the resolution is lower it looks worst without considering how the console work, which I proved to be false.
I dunno, user, but I'm pretty sure the problems on your side.

You guys ever just step back and take a look at the pictures you post?

In 10 years, you will have no hope of remembering all the shit this references.

please shut the fuck up this is a vr thread

3DS 3D tanks the framerate and it's only good for actually improving the experience in 1st party games like oot3d and sm3dl, elsewise it's always best to leave it off

but it is convincing

"B-but you cant prove my theory is wrong, therefor I am right!!! Burden of proof!!!"

Look at this video, user
See how there are 2 screens? That's because that's how it works. Now, you know what would be retarded? Taking a pic of the inside of the VR set, which is basically what you tried to do.
You only proved that you're retarded and don't know how it works. Check your eyes.

Don't worry, user, I doubt this will go beyond 100+. Although it's a shitty thread anyway

3D doesnt improve pixelation, dumbass. it's that simple. the blur between eyes cannot create what is not there, it just makes the jaggies less noticable. they're still gonna be there

Tell me when did I say that? You can also quote when I said that it improves the resolution. You're grasping straws now.
Which is exactly what I said here which you also said yourself. I never said it improved graphics somehow, I said it tricked you into thinking so, which you also said yourself.

My sister owns an O3DS XL; no it doesn't

There's your problem. It looks bad even with the 3D off.

Better how??? go ahead and be exact, you goalpost moving faggot

...

Gr8 ass. More like this. Is playing VR in the nude a thing yet?

With visual tricks, by mashing two pictures and messing with your eyes and brain. It is really that hard to read? Seriously, fucking read this ds.about.com/od/nintendods101/f/How-Does-The-Nintendo-3ds-Project-3d-Images.htm
Unless you're missing an eye, it will LOOK better without improving the picture itself, it depend on your eyes, so I'm convinced you have baby eyes. Get checked.

Thanks, now I have a new fetish. Watching a girl masturbating with a VR set on would be interesting.

nah son, If my photographic evidence doesn't prove me right, then I'm gonna need more solid evidence

also
how fucking old are you

why people are so retarded?
I've tried it at a convention and I really liked it. And it was only a DK2.
I've got a firend who bought a Vive, I'm going to visit him soon.

soon

Oh yeah? Well I tried it and I'm waiting til the PSVR comes out, cause the Oculus' resolution wasn't impressive to me, but I may have been using an older model anyways

Try the lastest model, one of the main selling point is the higher res

Nah, considering Oculus is using DRM now. Vibe is the only option, and fuck that pricetag

Just google how the 3D effect works so you can at the very least try to understand, but I doubt it because you sound like you have no idea how it works.
Basically, there are right and left image, light fuckery makes you see both at the same time but actually not, since you see them individually with each eye. That blurry the image just so you can feel the depth, effectively working as a sort of anti aliasing directly in your eyes and brain.

Also, the fetish is watching the girl using the VR, not me wearing it.

Amazing.

yeah, it's kinda a dick move
In fact I was waiting on an huge pricedrop on the vive
that will never come ;_;

You must have shitty eyes then, cause the 3DS still looks like shit, 3D on or off. Can Confirm, I own a 3DS and multiple games on flashcart, cause fuck Nintendo

we've got a Vive Pre at work and it's awesome

far better than Oculus

you can actually use it for a long time without getting sick/dizzy

That's beside the point. The point is if the 3D effect made it look better, which it does, maybe not always, but in games like Shantae and OOT it surely does.

I knew it.

...

Can confirm this is untrue. It looks blurrier, but is still very pixelated and looks like garbage compared to PSP

That's again, besides the point. The point was simple if it made it look better or not, which it does, since it looks pixelated with the 3D on or off, but with the 3D on it looks less pixelated. Something else, faggot?
Go play KH 3D and Birth by Sleep to notice the difference asap.

nope, pixelation was my original point, shithead, hence why I brought it up with VR headsets in the begging

go shill somewhere else poorfag. not like you can afford VR anyways. Why even come to this thread?

No, it wasn't, your original point was the resolution.
My point was that it looked better regardless of resolution and pixelation because that was irrelevant with the effect on, which is what you have been arguing all this time.

Resolution IS pixelation you retard

If you buy a vive and use it for less than 2 hours, can you still apply for a refund?

extremetech.com/electronics/222390-is-vr-porn-worth-it-heres-how-to-find-out-for-yourself

They can't even get the porn to work well. It's gonna fail by industrial standards, although there may be some niche use.

Kill yourself.
The relation between resolution and pixelation comes with the screen size. It can also be noticed if you don't use anti aliasing and that only works with 3D models, but I seriously don't expect you to understand that.
Seriously, what a fucking retard.

Depends where you buy it and you need a really good excuse for the refund. They will most likely ask you to take something else of the same a value.

The best effect you can see from the stereoscopic 3D is dynamic liking. Light bounces off the objects slightly differently from the two projected angles and produces a glimmer effect you wouldn't get otherwise.

You can also really fuck with people like the Way Virtue's last reward does. The character portraits are all in a shallow focus and look 3D, but they're all pre-rendered so when the Stereoscopic 3D they pop out of the background but are still flat.

The only fault that I can note with that video.

Jaggies exist regardless. if the screen is smaller, that doesnt make them dissapear, just harder to see.

Confirmed shill

Don't want to join on the argument, but those screens in the Vr headsets will never come close to a regular monitor, same with the 3DS. Does not matter what sort of strange eye trickery of 3D-ing you do, you're still looking at a small as fuck screen. I've tried VR, it's not as clear as I thought it was going to be.

To be fair user a lot of the quality 3D cameras and filming techniques are still being hammered out. You need to be able to walk through a video, not stare at a flat image that's been curved.

That's why you use anti aliasing, which is unnecessary with the 3D effect.
Yeah, in all games they are, even in 1080p games, they're just harder to see. will you stop playing those only because of that?
Where? You said something stupid, and I proved you wrong, again. Doesn't change the fact that the 3D effect blurriness ease the pixelation even if just as a visual trick.

Figures. I knew it had resolution problems.
I have no problems with my GBA, tho.

using the wii version you can play the trilogy using KB+M as well for full aim since it thinks your mouse is a wii remote

This is pretty much the best use case for VR. A virtual reality co op/2v2v2v2v2 drive by + racing game.

OK, now I'm absolutely positive you have no clue what you're talking about.

You know what the antialising do? It smooth the jaggies, but guess what? The boogeyman is still there, just harder to see.

Which is, by the way, what the3D effect does, more or less.

HTC has a solid refund policy. as long as you don't break it you can return it within 30 days, "no fuss"

that said I haven't heard of anyone returning theirs, once you give it a shot all you really want is more space

Fuck that blurry bullshit. AA was a mistake.

The Steam Controller's dead? Is that why they're offering it with Civ VI?

Don't return it. Sell it. Autists not willing to wait 2 months for their turn on the list are paying $200-$300 above retail. Craigslist that shit, user. Put the profit in your VR piggy bank for the future device you plan on getting.

I can't stop laughing

Why would you waste time using a worthless gimmick?

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure further development can do wonders. But there's only so much that can be done, especially for vidya.

There's numerous inherent limitations involved, since its pretty much only good for first person viewing. Even then, you have to have specialized equipment in order to have shit like movement or whatever. And at the end of the day, someone who wants to relax doesn't want to run around and shoot people or whatever, they want to park their ass on a couch and play some vidya.

Not to mention the additional specialized equipment that would be needed to have things like touch and other more immersive senses.

Things like flight/driving will be improved by this, as well as anything that works well in which you can sit down and just look around. The format of video games isn't where VR will be the most successful, its going to be the most successful it can be in the context of pornography, given sufficient refinement.

Full color applications that require you to be able to see far into the picture for details off in the distance really need those extra pixels though.

Unfortunately, while this does have some potential application, like so many other innovations of our modern era, this is one that really doesn't apply to enough people to be considered revolutionary. The likes of facebook and/or google will not be happy with the lack of volume of business they will get, but nonetheless there will at least be hardware subsidized enough to the point where anons will enjoy affordable VR for what benefits it does have.

Its actually pretty good. Everything besides the resolution is top notch. But since I have no plans on upgrading my gpu for another six months this is pretty good.
It runs smooth and the treacking freaking accurate. There are a bunch of free games for it, including some playstation home kind of hubs and there are tens of people online. Hover Junkers is a bit jittery at times but still pretty good and shoving the middle finger into your rival's face as you gloqt about being number one is pretty awesome.
As for seated vr - it can do it too and as good as when walking around.
Really guys, you have to find someonw with this thing and try it.

are you retarded

Everyone's trying too hard with the motion controls, really. Just replace camera control with head tracking and have the motion controls be a sidenote, like in that video. This shit really isn't capable enough for anything outside of gimmick usage yet but for immersion purposes it could be really fun..

Then again the controllers are mapped in 3D space, not really simple motion controllers. People can freaking juggle with them

The same friend that got the vive, also got an OR and sold it for double the price, but I don't think it's doable anymore. He preordered it few minutes (or seconds?) after the announcement

wew lad

The Oculus you can sell for double the price easy because they fucked up really really hard and have been shafting their pre-order customers for 7 whole months now. They even screwed them over and began shipping units to stores, completely by passing those guys over.

The wait time on the vive is less. So the mark up is less.

The audacity. If the lack of good games/programs doesn't sink VR, scummy business will.

Yeah, but the tracking is still quite coarse and on top of that they can't offer nearly the functionality or precision of KB+M plus some functionality might be very impractical - if I sprain my ankle, I can say goodbye to crouching and/or ducking for a few months. For games playable with a controller it would probably be fine but just imagine trying to play E.Y.E. on the Vive.

I have a feeling that VR games are pretty much going to be split into "conventional game with VR gimmicks" and "physics sandbox" for the foreseeable future.

You were expecting something else?

Not that bad, no.

Then I hope this is a learning experience for you.

Never forget, anons.

Yee, facebook went full joo too early, and with too much competition. Valve likes the shekels, but even they know where the line is, and not to cross it.

Google's cardboard memery is p dank, and VR capable phones will likely replace the goggles (but not the hardware required for VR vidya)

I feel for the VR meme and went with a RIFT, ask me anything.

it sucks but I also develop for it which makes it redeemable. It's REALLY fun literally going into the worlds you've made, and maybe I can sell some shitty game since I've already made better games than are on the Oculus or SteamVR stores

The porn is legit amazing also.

Does it feel more like fucking your waifu than mere point of view SFM movies?

I haven't done any rendered stuff, only 3D girls from 3D webcams, which is surprisingly enjoyable. You can all but feel the girl breathing in your ear when she leans in.. which then gets depressing that you can't.

Still, tfw girl shoving boobs or pussy in your face and you lean in and take a look. Or look left at one girl, right at another.

It's good.

When will you be upgrading, user?

I'm crippled so I don't care about roomscale. For the motion controls, yeah that sucks dick, but I can wait.. and when I do, I'll be left over with a headset that is more comfortable (and I really enjoy the built in audio).

I believe I am making the better long-term decision but I understand why you'd disagree.

I don't disagree. Whatever fits an individual's needs is what's important.

BTW, make and release some games user. VR customers are so hungry for content they're willing to pay retarded amounts. Now is the time to rake in the dough.

...

That's my goal!

I've got a RTS/God Game in the works and a Space Combat game.

Basically I've been doing lots of stuff and trying to find something fun to expand upon.

I'm further than vid related on it now, have AI that gathers and such. But I need to add actual gameplay, and in that area I'm kinda stumped.. I guess survival elements?

I'm still looking for a project that reaches out and grabs me but for now I'm making lots of prototypes so I can try and get a good one to get funded.

Now is the time as you say.

Do you do plan on doing Early Access to fund the games?

The osvr seems to be cheap enough for the novelty factor. Plus you don't have to buy controllers or have room space. What do you think?

I'll try it if I can get my game to that point. Greenlight is 100 bucks, I'd like to make a trailer and maybe try and get funded so im not paying for that out of pocket. We'll see how it goes. It's hard to tell if I even have a compelling game. So far it seems more interesting than most games on the oculus store but I am obviously bias, and lacking in good actual gameplay ideas.

I've got "Build your city, then live in it". But am stumped for the gameplay. Do I want action and combat? Do I want it to be a survival game or a god game? I'm really not sure.

So I need to decide that and add actual gameplay beyond building and customizing interiors and gathering stone/wood before I do that.

I guess some people are just born to be suckers.

good luck buddy

don't die of GRIDS, please

Microsoft still can't put out a good kinect camera, don't expect VR to git gud for another decade

It should be alright for consumers around the same time that 'google glasses' are robust enough for nigger usage

VR could be great if they used it right and made the right games for it. I feel they are going down the Kinect route of gimmick games for a gimmick device. I was thinking incorporating the headsets into a game is another way to do it. Horror games are going to be top notch with them though.

Or a cyberpunk hacking game would be the shit.

I look forward to it. Hopefully you'll make a thread on Holla Forums or something when you figure it out.

...

...

Oh look the shill woke up to spread lies and misinformation.

Give it a couple years, and something worthwhile will be made. like with 3d games, it took an entire console generation to perfect 3D

Lots of issues with the firmware currently youtube.com/watch?v=M4M_UOM8wqM

I'd wait for the next version to come out if it has a better screen.

I've seen your videos posted here before, it's a shame so few developers are willing to share on such a controversial site.

I'd be upset if the last time I listened to their podcast they didn't spend half the time shitting on gamers and the other half talking about sports and cooking and anything they could think of that wasn't video games.

Valve knew it was still 5 years out,
then Oculus came and screwed up their plans to make vr great

Fuck off VRfag, go be a kike elsewhere

If you poor faggots spent as much time working as shilling you'd be able to afford a VR headset. Or you know, at least try one.

Yes good goy

...

Not an argument.

VR would only have worked as a gimmicky peripheral. As it stands it's pretty much dead on arrival.

Can you imagine a game would only allow you to play it if it detected that you were using a certain brand of keyboard?

...

VR was never going to be a thing. You need a 1500 euro PC to run it. How many people have that? Fifty million at best.

It doesn't even matter if VR is a great experience or not.

Driving a Ferrari is cooler than driving a Kia. Yet more Kia's are sold.

Affordability is an important part of tech becoming mainstream.

How is that post purchase rationalism treating you guys today? I can't believe you fell for the VR hype.

Remember to write a note:

>No one cared who I was until I put on the mask.

women are literally pets

Sony made tape players, transistor radios, walkmans, CDs, DVDs and blurays mainstream. Read up on your history son.

Something you insulated San Fran idiots never considered is subsidising the hardware, which might help this VR shit become more than just a niché toy.

Sony is actually very good at designing things so if anyone can crack it my money is on them.

ANTI VR fags are just idiots who cant keep up with technology and dont have a high enough imagination to understand technology that is way beyond their concept. they would rather burn the world down then let something like this succeed.

I don't have to do anything, it is failing on it's own by having little worthwhile titles, the price, and the fact that is it's a gimmick.

It's the virtual boy all over again.

thats because its a new peice of technology idiot, of course its not going to have anything worthwhile on it. wait 5 years.

...

...

...

Problem with VR in my opinion is that I just don't see it for anything that is not first person, and 90% of first person games released recently are mediocre or trash. And judging by the vive titles I've sen on the steam store I don't see that changing anytime soon.

3rd person games are shit user.
you could play 3rd person with vr if you wanted. it would be a better experience than viewing through a flat monitor.

the floating camera would be your head moving around the world and you control the character with your buttons.

or something like AOE watching the world from a god view.

Its like being on a Youtube comment section, holy shit.

All they had to do was embrace the fucking FLOSS. It should have been obvious from the first couple of years after the Oculus Kickstarter that it was all about the hobbyists - why couldn't they just let them build the market for them?

Oh, right - unpaid mods :^)

Comprehension down the shitter. He meant in terms of available and announced titles - development direction and philosophy in general.

So, is this yet another VR thread with back and fourth yelling about "gimmicks" and "poorfags"?

Like every thread on 8/v/ after the price reveal

I just don't see the point of it. All this looks to me is just a change in presentation and if anything I think games need to focus less on presentation and more on the actual gameplay. I don't see how moving the camera using your head would add anything. Maybe I need to try it out for myself first, but I just don't think I would have not disliked T4ff if I had played it in VR or something. I'm not too big on atmosphere or immersion, just good gameplay.

Why are you so angry? And do tell how say Total War would work with VR? Or Invisible Inc?
At this moment VR is a gimmick because the devs treat it like a gimmick and so do the consumers. When I see a VR game I don't see an actual game built around whatever the advantages of being a VR game are, I see something akin to a 3D movie occasionally throwing stuff at the screen to make you remember you're watching a 3D movie and it's totally worth it. Whether or not that'll be the case for VR is beyond me. But VR at this moment does not look appealing at all.

It literally is you faggot.

Okay, I take it back in light of

It'll tale time for the companies to stop milking the early adopters, and then the price will drop down, and THEN the devs will start to consider it a viable gadget to develop around. Until then you're stuck with uninnovative indie and their trademark simplistic 3D games. To summarize - wait for it.

Because Im seeing a place I used to cheerish slowly dying.

This is what happens when free internet is given to low income areas.

Why not do both? But if you can only pick one, being an angry god smiting the enemies of your people sounds like a lot of fun.

...

Maybe you should step up your begging game or try a new street corner. Or maybe take your unwashed ass to the nearest best buy or some shit and then try it before you start spewing bullshit.

they also made betamax, the minidisc, the PSP, the Vita…

...

You're more retarded than the early adopters son.

...

kek, nice try at shitposting m8. Try lukring a little more before shilling your garbage here :^)

Stay salty son

Fuck VR, I just want the Vive controllers
I just want wagglan, and the Wiimote won't cut it for PC vidya

...

An extremely low latency display device. If you don't have to account for painfully laggy HDTVs anymore you can
Make Vidya Fast Again
VR could be the return of gameplay that died with CRTs.

Imagine replacing your desktop with a Virtual Display. you could have as many monitors as you want or have 1 really large spherical 3d display.

...

I tried VR. It was cool for a little bit, but not a replacement for a monitor.

The only thing it seems good for is if you mod the shit out of some game so it looks beautiful and want to go around in it or walking simulators.

Hello Marie Antoinette. Most of the world is poor.

You can't even compare it to a monitor. Of any kind.

I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit.

I have a Vive. It is definitely a gimmick.

Nobody cares if you're poor. It's the butthurt that nobody likes.

Nah. Gen1 overall has too low res to be suitable for a general purpose virtual desktop. Maybe that'll change with gen2 but I doubt it, will probably take the usual time and gen3 will put an end to other displays.

It's worth it for flight sims alone. I don't see why would someone even care about anything else.

...

sauce

It'll "put an end to other displays" like 3D TVs did :^)

You have to go back.

3d tv's were a gimmick, vr is not.

...

You make the camera stereoscopic so now you can actually see the scale of the battlefield like you're really there. What the fuck is the question even?

(checked)
The only Vive software worth getting right now is Virtual Desktop and Space Pirate Trainer. I only ever use VD, and the resolution is awful. Crashes often, too.

there is Virtual theater too.

At this point I can tell already you're just a rabid fanboy/shill, so I'm just going to go ahead and filter your ID.

Anyways, for anyone else:
I was at a event where they had occulus rifts, and I tried out a few of the demos for it. The one I remember the best was this platformer where you control some guy in a cryptish place.

It was weird. Like the game I was playing was sitting on a table right infront of me and I could see a holographic image of it.

It was cool, but that's it. It seriously reminded me of using the Wii for the first time, and how everyone was acting like it was the second coming. Who knows what it's going to be like once the formalities wear off. I have a feeling it'll fall into a niche.

Anyone tried using OSVR + Hydra? Could that work out as a poorfag's Vive?

Do you mean SteamVR's theater or Bigscreen Beta?

...

reddit.com/r/vive

...

joke's on you, if you order a vive on a weekday, it ships that day

oculus is the resellable one because they will never get their act together

Okay what will become mainstream? PSVR or oculus/vive that requires a high end CPU/GPU?

Ofcourse the answer is neither but just hypothetically.

...

Normalfag mainstream? Phone VR. Doesn't matter how shitty it is, it's a cheap gimmick. As in literally cheap, those phone enclosures sell as low as 10 bucks for cardboard crap.
user mainstream? None of them as they're all gen1. We'll have a sizeable minority of Vivefags and PSVRfags but nowhere close to mainstream among us unless Razer gets their shit together and upgrades their current OSVR to a reasonable framerate, then they could have some success.

If only Holla Forums could pirate it? Then they'd love it. Oh well.

There is just one way VR can be a commercial success and capture the casual/non-gamer market like the Wii did, and that is for it to be extremely cheap and easy to use. The quality of the games doesn't even matter, just the price and the accessibility.

Both the VIVE and the Rift require a ~$1000+ PC. The VIVE itself is $800, the Rift $600. PSVR requires a $400 Bloodbornestation (or a ~$500 Bloodbornestation NEO), and the PSVR itself, with the controllers, is $500.

So we've got $1800, $1600, or $900/$1000.

All of those are well outside the budget of the casual non-gamer audience that this would appeal to. To put that into perspective, the Wii launched at $250.

Only a pedophile, I mean a Nintendo retard, would ever use those 2 in the same sentence.

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.

So i am watching your weeb crap and i was wondering…
Is this what you call a wise investment?
For real?

This is what pedophiles think is "successful".

Shitposting just never ends does it.

So many poor faggots ITT. It's disgusting.
