Obsidian's Fallout

Do you think Bethesda is afraid to let Obsidian work on a new Fallout because their product would show everyone how shit Bethesda and in turn Fallout 4 is?
Any news on that matter?

Obsidian is dead, jim. Let go.

Except New Vegas sucked ass, and Fallout 4 is great.
Fucking faggot OP.

Fallout4>FalloutNV

ONLY FAGS LIKE NV
we manly men like to play Fallout4{tm} and preorder all the DLCs

Pick one

Someone from Obsidian said around the time of F4's release that they'd be willing to work on another Fallout game using 4's engine if Beth was game for it

Personally I think they're fucking idiots for actually wanting to work with Bethesda again after the way they got fucked over last time

Didn't everyone with talent leave Obsidian recently anyways?

The core audience for Fallout, that's composed by people that don't know what Fallout it's about, unironicly believe Fallout 3 was better than NV. So I don't think so

Ironic shitposting is still shitposting

You're right but still

das rite

...

With Avellone and a couple of others gone since NV, dont really have hopes for obsidian to make a good fallout spinoff that could match NV

Yeah I heard they pushed them to release early, cutting off the promised time to work on the game.
I'm amazed they still delivered a good game, imagine how much better it would be with the Legion's side of the river finished.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day

...

Can I dump porn now?

Let's face it, NV is one of the very few good they've made, and it was only because they had a publisher breathing down their neck. And it's not even that great, it just seems amazing because it's contrasted with F3.

new Vegas is shit, only fags like it.

the cool kids like Fallout 4.

Am i the only one here who liked Fallout 4 more than New Vegas?

For the LAST FUCKING TIME

THE TWO COMPANIES CURRENTLY HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH EACH OTHER.

BETH LITERALLY SAID THEY CAN DO A NEW FALLOUT ANY TIME THEY WANT.

BETH TAKES A CUT FROM NV SALES OR ANY NEW FALLOUT MADE BY OBSI.

IT'S FREE FUCKING MONEY.

THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK.

WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS 500000000 TIMES, ONLY Holla Forums STILL THINKS THERE'S A RIVALRY GOING ON.

yes pls

Never change Holla Forums.

It was only good because of Avellone's writing.

Since Obsidian saw fit to chase him out because he was a bigoted shitlord there is no reason to pay any attention to anything Obsidian does.

this

These guys have the right idea.

It's time to stop

This tbh.
It's like asking bioware to save Mass Effect

...

...

Trips for nasty spotty tits

...

Kys

Avellone is overrated. Something about his over-convoluted 2deep4u style of writing just puts me off. He could easily shoehorn a 2deep4u philosophical meaning behnd something as mundane as going to McDonalds for a cheeseburger, and people would still praise him and suck his dick for being a master storyteller.

He's still better than anything current Obsydian has

The fact that Avellone is heralded as the second coming of Christ is very telling of the writers we have in the game industry

The mere fact that he's a competent writer and puts effort into his work puts him head and shoulders above the competition

I like the guy, but he is indeed overrated

...

I think it's the atmosphere in Fallout 3 that makes it so good. Personally I find Fallout 3 more postapocalyptic.

A ruined city is more posapocalyptic than a desert with some clutter. Not that New Vegas isn't a good game (which it is) but it lacks that certain element that Fallout 3 had.

Fallout 4 dialogue options are utter shit. Bethesda could have made a proper RPG but didn't.

Fallout 4 was ok, but it has hardly any replay value. Other than modding the shit out of it and building settlements (which seems like Bethesda's sloppy way of making up for the lack of content) I haven't really played too much of it.

I personally like his take on Fallout. It's certainly better than anything else anyone has done since FO1, though I agree that people don't give him enough shit for FO2.

Still, KOTOR 2, NV, Alpha Protocol and PST are proof enough he is a competent writer that gets what non-linearity is all about.

Fallout isn't post-apocalypse you fucktard it's post-post-apocalypse

So, what you're saying is that you like a shittier, shallower rehash of FO1.

The point of NV wasn't to be post apocalyptic you fucking retard. The setting had already moved from a Mad Max world since FO2, crossing over into post post-apocalypse and focusing on the world rebuilding itself.

It's certainly better and more unique than pretty much any other post-apoc tripe out there, yet Bethesda seems completely unwilling to move the setting beyond cliches and overused tropes. FO4 is the same exact shit as FO3, just in another city and with even less complexity.

It wasn't made with morons like you in mind?

Again, Bethesda's only good thing is that they know how to make big open world that look great and make you want to explore them.

New Vegas and older fallouts are better in every other way, but both Fallout 4, Fallout 3, Morrowing, Oblivion and Skyrim have beautiful maps.

This is what obsididrones believe

But nothing interesting to them. Bethesda actively tries to make exploration and discovery as uninteresting as possible.

Scaled enemies, scaled loot, very few unique items, shitty, linear dungeons, etc.

What is post-apocalyptic about the NCR and Enclave or Caesar's Legion duking it out? These are nation states fighting over territory in an organized manner, not the stereotypical raiders trying to rape and pillage some scavenger settlement in the middle of the desert.

The NCR has a mechanized brigade at their disposal for fuck's sake.

Any worse than anything SJWsidian writes?

Obsidian is shit now. You should hope for an inXile fallout.

I can't wait to play Alpha Protocol, Post Apocalypse edition

Eh, Wasteland 2 wasn't as bad as PoE but it wasn't great either.

You're a loser

fallout NV main theme and focus is to see how civilization could rise again after the apocalypse

in NV the ppl are trying to rebuild the world and they are fucking working on it and the main conflict in the game is this question:
what is the best way to rebuild this world ?

and every faction have their own vision just like in real life

in fallout3 everyone is too busy being a shallow mad max type punk

and sorry for my bad english

You mean like the cartoonishly evil Cesars Legion?

You're still a loser

The enclave in Fallout 3 was cartoonishly evil.

They are a reflection of Nazi Germany.

Not at all.

It's exploration for the sake of exploration.

I torrented Fallout 4 just to walk around the map to see different locations. Boston looks great honestly, and some of the more irradiated areas are too.

You really need to be a fan of exloration to enjoy it

Tough choice.

What are you even trying to say

no
they think that the best way to rebuild the world is a slave society just like the Spartans

read about the spartans they kill every weak boy among them and the slaves in the sparatans community are treated as a subhuman killing them was soo ok for them

and guess what bud ? a slave society is the fastest way to rebuild the world

I'm saying that only morons sided with something other than the NCR.

He's either baiting or a living cancer cell, either way he should hang himself with his ethernet cable

Are you a dumbass or are you fucking with me?

Fallout has literally never been straight post-apoc. Even in Fallout 1 you emerge a good 80 years after the bombs fell, as someone who lived their entire life in the vaults, into a world starting to pick itself up off the ground. You're walking into a world that uses currency and has a number of towns with modern tech (decent weapons, electricity, real doctors), if sparse. Fallout 2 moved even farther away from the apocalyptic setting, and New Vegas is now outright a story about three nations facing off over a major resource (the Dam and the water and electricity that comes from controlling it).

He's trying to shitpost, and thanks to you it's working pretty well

An NCR like country was exactly the reason why the bombs dropped. You either never played Fallout or have the attention span of a fish.

Or it's just Todd still being mad

I don't consider the first games cannon

Hey I was right

Kek, actually got a good chuckle out of that one

Not everyone plays games that don't match the resolution on my screen.

It was a proto-fascist country controlled by corrupt elites and business interests that outright executed dissenters and broadcast it as propaganda. Old America created FEV and did experiments so bad that an army unit rebelled, slaughtered every scientist responsible, and became the Brotherhood of Steel. Old America was where House built his RobCo empire and spread his shit all over the place. Old America was what kept everyone dependent on oil for so long that the war happened in the first place. Anyone who fell for House's bullshit about "look out the window and see where democracy gets you" is a fool who'll listen to anyone with a good tongue and a steady flow of cash.

NCR isn't why the bombs dropped. House is.

10/10 post

I noticed your posts and would like to offer you a job with the AIDF.

I agree, this is why the legion is the best choice

Its not the same person.

Just because they hate New Vegas doesn't mean shit.

The Legion is fairly terrible in their own right. I'm less concerned about the government, that can change, but the technophobia is a real risk. For all the risk that a high-tech society can hold (like such a far-fetched scenario as superweapons wiping out most of the human population), there are a SHITLOAD of good things that come from it. Things like, you know. Antibiotics, fertilizers, comfort of life things like air conditioning, transportation and communication improvements that allow larger societies to function, that sort of thing.

The Legion would be far more palatable to me if it weren't for the staunchly anti-technology stance. Not to mention that, no matter what good intentions one can claim Caesar had, his use of an auto-doc on himself while banning it for others reveals how much his power has rotted his character.

There aren't other studios that had many employees that worked on the originals. Since obsidian went full political agenda, inxile is the best choice. Who could make a better fallout?

My reasoning is that eventually Caesar will die and a new ruler may make reform, or he may be persuaded to being more open with the technology (especially after technology saves his life). Every government falls eventually, but I feel like the legion has potential to curve the rampant degeneracy and bring an actual civilization to fruition even if by force. All of my opinions are biased towards the legion because I get an erection for anything Roman, but the negatives to me are outweighed by the opportunity.

This.

It's 200 years after the fucking bombs. There shouldn't really BE a city left to wander around in. Even New Vegas, which didn't get hit, and is in the middle of the fucking desert which would help preserve the structures a bit - is mostly wasted piles of bricks. DC should have been overgrown with vegetation and looked almost indistinguishable from the rest of the natural landscape aside from the odd statue or large concrete foundations occasionally jutting out.

That's what really pissed me off about FO3. They went with generic desert post-apoc wasteland, because muh mad max and FO 1 & 2. Which… Mad Max takes place in Australia, right? Australia is largely fucking desert naturally. The West Coast of the US is largely fucking desert - especially if you consider how it'll look after centuries of global warming caused by the burning of every last drop of crude oil still in the ground.

The East Coast though? That should have been lush and verdant. Why the fuck aren't there more post-apoc and post-post-apoc wildernesses that have been retaken by nature? It's not like there isn't plenty of inspiration in the real world for these settings.

Because Bethesda is unimaginative and it'd draw even closer comparisons to Cyrodill with Guns.

At the very least, Fallout 4 and Point Lookout seems to take baby steps back into the right direction. Fallout 4 seems to have a lot of dead vegetation, but not 200 year old dead vegetation. The game starts in October/November, when everything is dead and dying anyhow. So it could just be chalked up to the changing of the seasons. Still not thick enough though.

I guess seasonal environmental changes are too much to ask for from Bethesda.

Humanity is to blame. Capitalist, Communist, Fascist, Socialist… they all had nukes, and they all launched them. It's not the old world ideologies caused the nukes to rain down, but that they couldn't stop them. It's inevitable for humanity to destroy itself, because it's in our nature to fight - and we will use whatever tools are available to us to do so. Ignoring Bethesda's AyyLmao, it's never clear who launched first - the commies or the capitalists - nor did it ever really matter before.

Caesar talks about the tribals playing at war, and introduced them to the concept of Total Warfare. Well nuclear Armageddon is the final fulfillment of Total Warfare. Caesar is literally carving an empire on the foundation of what destroyed the old world, and some people actually think his path isn't one that leads right back to total destruction.

ids you fucking mongoloid nigger

I suppose all of the endings have an element of what killed the old world. Even the Independent ending is pushed by personal greed, a lust for power that drives wars. It's just a matter of what lets the most people live the best lives for the longest period of time, then.

So it goes.

Nigga you what, half the main plots of Fallout games have been about technology posing an existential threat to human survival and even when it isn't a primary focus it's still present. That society of antibiotics and air conditioners being the obvious example since in the end it didn't just kill itself it set the whole world on fire so no one could escape the devastation brought by man's reach exceeding his grasp.

Are you actualy delusional enough to think that if there was any strife between them they would would make it public knowledge ?

Do you you also think that when a hostile takeover is attempted or actually happens all the "re-structuring" (meaning laying off people) that takes place is simply based on merit of each individual worker and not based on whether or not the new management simply can or can't trust the old employees ?

it's a pity i can't find my Zenimax image because my folder is a mess , but maybe some other user can provide

I wish the worldbuilding of FO3/4 was like Morrowind. Different ecosystem according to the quantity of radiation, mutated vegetation, ruined and buried buildings hidden from sight that can be looted (justifying 200 years old lootable buildings), organized cities and towns, and all that stuff.

I wish Todd Howard was still a vigorous young man working in a dying video game company. Every game he designed and directed before Morrowind were full of fresh ideas. Now he seems to have lost his edge.

Todd is shit.

The future refuses to change.

nigga

Todd is Godd.

i believe what i'm thinking rhymes with clucking bell

They were part of the evolution of gaming, user! They're part of the trend of making everything simplified and shitty.

Also, that engine thing worked in Half-Life 2 ages ago and was used in combination with ABH for speedruns.

This so fucking much. It tickles my autism so fierce to see how Beth insists on making their games look like the bombs dropped five years ago instead of 270. It just smacks of poor world building, sometimes you need to think critically when constructing your world.

Fallout 4 took a step or two in the right direction for that, at least. Given it's place in October, it explains the lack of leaves on the trees and the dead grass, but even that seems kind of lazy.

>the company Chris Avellone left because they accidentally lost the rights to Baldur's Gate

Daily reminder that this is the kind of person you're responding to

...

...

Why do all these companies pick on obsidian. Man.

...

Well, Fallout 4 is good for one thing. The salt is great. I'm still getting some now.

Fallout games have been the biggest scam for years now. I didn't like fallout 3, but due to all the hype I bought fallout 4 and season pass, and I've only got 3 hours on the game. It's that fucking bad

Be more subtle with the bait next time.

Now that's a retard

Tell me that's satire, please.

I think part of the dead vegetation could well be console restrictions as well. Large forests are the hardest things to render. Lots of individual leaves and branches that all have to be rendered in case the player looks at them.

I hope Obsidian gets another crack at it and that they stick to mostly desert. If I had my way Obsidian would already start working at it now and given 4 years to do it. It should be enough for them to actually finish if they don't bother too much with making original art assets. Bethesda are probably going to support Fo4 for about 2 years after release and then Obsidian can keep the brand alive by starting to tease about NV2 or something and by the time they are finished with their DLCs Bethesda are probably ready to start doing foul things to the IP again.

I'm actually telling the truth, that's how I feel about this game

They'd get 2 years max. Otherwise, it would be directly competing with either ESVI or FO5. They SHOULD have started development a year ago.

And while it's a horrible idea for anyone who actually gives a fuck about Fallout, if Bethesda was smart - they'd contract Obsidian to do remakes of FO1 & 2 on their own engine. That way they're just stuck retreading old ground for new sales to existing FO3/NV/FO4 players - rather than making a new entry and fucking with the way Bethesda wants to shape the future of Fallout.

Even if you're telling the truth, for the sake of my own sanity, I am not going to believe people on here actually got the game and season pass expecting it to be good.

That's exactly why. Go look at most fallout forums. It usually goes something like "Fallout 3 is great, and 4 is ok, but Fallout NV was really good and had a great story! When will Bethesda let obisidian make another one!"

Bethesda got shown up hard on their own turf by Obsidian. Its why they made a lot of the previous fallout lore noncanon, why they shit on the West coast in Fallout 4, why they mentioned returning to the mojave in cabot house and other shit. They want to wipe FNV from memory because bethesda did it so.much.better. Really, imagine how you'd feel if you've been making games like morrowind for 20 years and you let one company, just one, make a game in your genre for you and everyone thinks its better than what you did. And that game was done on a fraction of your budget with a fraction the time. You also tried to fuck em over to buy them and sabotage the game to a degree. But they're still considered better than you.

I'd be salty as fuck were I Bethesda. Its why they'll never allow another Obsidian backed Fallout game.

You should've seen some of the threads here, there were people here saying it was a good game

Basically what said, it's not about bethesda being "smart" (I mean they are smart for taking advantage of normalfags I'll give them that.) it's all about their image and pride and how long they can ride normalfags for, it was never about the actual games. An actual nuclear fallout would happen before bethesda allows obsidian near the ip again.

Fuck, didn't think of that, somehow.

I think NV was Bethesda's way of throwing a bone to the older fans and getting them to not give up hope. Sort of like sending a cut off finger to the kidnap victims family hoping to get more cash.

What did they say in the Cabot house mission? The only nod to NV I saw was from the MQ memory sequence. Seemed to me rather that they wanted to acknowledge the east coast in some way to prove it wasn't completely wiped from the canon.

maybe if it had nothing to do with fallout and they had actual rpg elements then maybe. I pirated the shitshow that is Fo4 and have over 100+ hours because I wanted to do everything so I could judge it completely. I thought it would get better but it never did it just got worse.

In cabot house at the end he mentions an ayylien civilization buried underneath the Mojave, hinting we'll probably go there or the next game may be based there.

FNV was based in the west coast. Bethesdas games are on the east coast. And im talking about them shitting on the NCR and west coast through Kellogs history sequence, as well as making the fallout bible noncanon. Theyre trying to distance themselves from the west coast and the history of fallout after Obsidian showed them up.

I think everyone can see just how shit Beth and FO4 are already. Those who don't are blind and will never see.

Also, Obsidian is shit now. Probably can beat Bethesda, but I wouldn't hold my breath about them releasing anything of particular worth

I'm going to take that as hopefully as possible and assume they're prepared to give Obsidian another chance at making money for them.

Fuck I meant west. How did they shit on the west coast and NCR in that sequence? They were vague enough to not fuck up the canon, except the fallout bible. Although the Golden Gate bridge being intact for some reason kind of does. Kellog is established to be much older than he looks so him joining raiders/gangs is vague enough to match NCR history.

That would be terrible but
has a point

It is unlikely that they would make another Fallout title again; and if they did, Chris Avellone would help out.

I wish there was a Fallout wiki written on premise that FO3/4 are non-canon.

I was going to write a post hoping they'd do something in the rocky mountains. Fallout is dead.

Its the way he shits on the NCR. I get it's supposed to be Kellogs opinion, but the way he talks about how shit the NCR is, and how its the only mention of it in the game rubs me the wrong way with the Fallout Bible deemed noncanon and the general disinterest to the lore bethesda has shown, like how Jet is now prewar and such.

Bethesda just gives off this vibe that fallout is a cash cow and theyre salty Obsidian showed them up.

I get that feeling too. Bethesda set Obsidian up for financial ruin and buy-out, and not only did Obsidian survive but they made Bethesda's own games look like shit.

To bad obsidian is dead since they fired the talent because they triggered people with their writing and said snarky things about fans being bigots. Same thing with Divinity really.

Exactly my sentiment as well. Obsidian was supposed to end up like Arkane, bought out and owned by Zenimax. Instead not only did they succeed but they made an amazing game on a small budget, small team, all while being sabotaged by Bethesda and Zenimax.

What always gets me though, Obsidian did so well they almost got the 90 rating they needed to earn a bonus, just one point short, of which Bethesda & Zenimax refused them their bonus. That has always stood out as remarkably shitty to me.

Yeah, rip. Not like it matters anymore since Bethesda wont let them touch it again. Hopefully tho, if Bethesda ever seeks out outside talent for the next fallout or elder scrolls they hire Avellone and Kirkbride.

What did they do in Fallout 4 to make the Bible non-canon? I know there had been statements on Twitter and such to that effect, but what happened in 4 to make it definitive?

It is incredibly easy for them to manipulate the score.

The Fallout Bible started to become non-canon starting Fallout 3. That isn't the problem. The problem is Beth's Fallout is basically like those DC reboots that expected all those shit have happen despite the entire cast being a lot younger.

Obsidian still has the ability to write a better story, then again, a child does.

Their game making skills are shit, have always been shit, people need to stop giving the hacks credit for things they never did or that only one or two of them did nearly twenty years ago.

Oh, yeah, I haven't posted my Zenimax dump. Here we go. I'll leave out the second part I've been posting lately about Zenimax-Controlled id/Zenimax Doom, though.

It isn't good when Bethesdrone do it and it is good when you do it.

...

Nope, Obsidian is done for.

Nice buzzword Holla Forums, maybe you'll read a book and learn what it really means one day.

Other than that, what you described sounds and awful lot like the NCR and the brahmin barons.

...

Yes, as many have already explained Bethesda got showed up in gameplay, story and how an actual RPG is meant to function by Obsidian.

They honestly could have nicked things like multiple ammo types instead of the stupid weapon enchantments, the Damage Threshold system and a few other additions from New Vegas, which would've made 4 better.

However, I have no doubt in my mind they can't stand how a smaller developer like Obsidian could've made a more engaging experience.

While New Vegas is an unpolished mess and by no means perfect, but it was a better then FO3/4.

Also considering what Obsidian is now, I wouldn't want them to make a new Fallout game.

If Zenimax does want to make NV2, they would probably try to pull similar bullshit to what Activision does with COD and rotates devs on bi/tri-yearly basis.

I think it's possible that Bethesda might allow Obsidian to make another Fallout game sometime, but even if they don't I'm still pretty happy to be able to play Fallout: New Vegas. It's my favorite out of the modern Fallout games.

youtube.com/watch?v=sbEQvkBNf_s

That's the problem, retard. Fallout isn't about people trying to survive on a post apocalyptic environment; it's about civilizations rebuilding themselves on a post-post apocalyptic situation.

...

Is that a real photo?

Do you mean the shit eating grin or the quote? Because yes.

I know the quote is real, I didn't know he was a legit retard. Gotta spam it all over the internet.

...

Cat's for example. They are supposedly extinct. Vault numbers for another. The vault numbers are supposed to start west to east. So you have 13 and lower numbers on the west coast up to 100 on the east coast. 111 is west of 101.

They also replaced centaurs with mutant hounds and made functional cryogenics.

Maybe it's in the Fallout Bible, but in Fallout 2 there's a character who complains about her/his lost cat, and suspects it was eaten. They say that's why you don't see many of them around anymore. But the context of that conversation is very local, and it's a very recent phenomena. I don't think it applies globally. Obviously some shit-peasant from The Den isn't going to know if cats are extinct on the East Coast.

Unless they stop making Fallout, then they're going to eventually need to overhaul the vault numbering system. It should only work out to about 2 vaults per state, with a few extras here and there, but we routinely see multiple vaults in extremely small geographic regions - especially in the Bethesda games.

Vaults should be MUCH rarer than what we're presented with. But, from Bethesda's view, I kind of understand. That's a lot of unique assets to have to spend time and money creating, only to have them used once or twice.

I'm not so upset about this one. The Institute was doing experiments with FEV and creating mutant strains which where unique and different than those created by the Master or in Vault 87. Just as the mutants themselves are different depending on where and what variables/strain they were created under - Mariposa or Vault 87.

That being said… Bethesda's mutants are fucking retarded. And not in a cute and humorous Dumb-Dumb way.

I really wish Bethesda would have brought back Rhonda and Tabitha from NV and had a quest where she was like some kind of "Jane Goodall" character who was studying the East Coast mutants and could provide the player with some deeper lore.

Deeper lore… from Bethesda, what the fuck what I thinking. Mutants are just FO Ogres to them.

This one triggers my cajones. Even Bethesda themselves seemed to acknowledge that Cryogenics was a bullshit technology, since even their hyper-advanced AyyLmao didn't have it perfected. Yet Vault-Tec somehow did? What?

The story would have been much better if you had just died in the Vault, and the cyrogenic technology inside was just a test bed for human experimentation. You got nuked, burned up, barely survived - then put on ice for the railroad to find much later and steal your memories to use as a mind-wipe on a next-gen runaway synth (you).

And speaking of inconsistency… why is that every faction that has you infiltrate the Institute doesn't immediately turn on you and try to kill you afterwards? You entered into the belly of the beast, a place where abducted people are replaced with perfect synthetic replicas - with no way to distinguish them from the real thing. With no test to prove your humanity, how could anybody trust you after that? How could they know you didn't fail and were replaced?

You should have been a target for assassination by everybody the moment you left…. not given ultra access to their most top secret projects. Holy shit.

New Vegas played like a shitty total conversion mod for Fallout 3, there are even legit fan-mad total conversion mods for games that are higher quality and produced on no budget at all.

Kill yourselves

I'm not sure but I think that cat is supposed to be the last one or something.

Not just that but much larger and housing 1000+ residents. Turns out making vaults that big in 3D where you can see it all was harder than they thought.

That would've made so much more sense from an RPG perspective too. There is some wiggle room there for making a different character.

As points out in the last picture there's no room for making a character that isn't a suburbanite veteran in a stable relationship with a child out for revenge. But a synth would have the option to deny that and form their own personality, like Nick does.

It's still stupid because surprise or surprises they made the same kind of super-mutants but now with a generic dog to go along with it. They could've tried to be original with the super-mutant animal at least but no not even that.

For all their talk of wanting to make Fallout their own they sure like to hide behind the old design.

Nice way to out yourself Bethdrone and leftypol faggot as none of that is canon.

If you'd played Fo1 and 2 you'd know that the old world was pretty much a mystery. You been playing too much fo3 with its evil consumer society bullshit.

Well, it's not exactly like the Vaults in FO1 & 2 were sprawling labyrinths one would expect thousands of people to be living in either. If anything, many of Bethesda's vaults are actually larger to some in the classics - like Vault City.

This is fucking unforgivable. I understand likely where the marketers were coming from… they couldn't make the game too different from the originals, because they were counting on the classic fanbase to help generate hype. If FO3 had come out completely different, people would have said it didn't look or feel like a Fallout game.

But in aping the originals too closely (and not very well), they just killed the vast majority of their creative capital - if they were even competent enough to take advantage of it. The East Coast should have been much different and original than what we got, and rather than having new lore and new local flavors - we just got a mashup and regurgitation of what's already been established, with no reason given for why this shit from the West Coast is now coast to coast.

Why fucking use bottlecaps, for instance? FO1 had them, but they were already replaced by minted coins in FO2. The whole reason they existed was because a cap was a representative of the value of water, used by water traders in the Hub. But there was nothing like that in FO3. You'd think maybe Rivet City would take over/secure the old Nuka Cola bottling plant and run water caravans out there - providing at least a coincidental similar motivation… but no. They just use bottlecaps because… hur hur… stupid wastelanders using bottlecaps for currency is funny.

But they made a point of showing them in dereliction and blocking off large sections of them to leave a possible impression of them being larger. You never even go inside Vault 13 when it's still working.

Unless you use them as shrapnel in mines of course :^)

In NV they at least explained that they didn't just take any kind of cap and there was oversight. They also tried to move away from them with actual currency backed by governments.

It wasn't even a mystery. Literally nobody gave a fuck, because they were too busy just trying to survive or were too busy building their own new civilizations. New Vegas only codified the bullshit, but at least had the self awareness to turn it around as a backhanded message to the playerbase that Fallout is dead in Bethesda's hands, and that you should just let go. Begin Again.

Also, anybody else find it extremely jarring that Bethesda's "post-apoc" wasteland is so… sanitized? So fucking PG-13? It's played up as being a harsh world, with harsh people, but it's all populated and built like a Saturday morning cartoon.

Then people get so butthurt that there's mods like Sexout and Quo Vagis. Were there even any whores in FO4? There was like… one, in FO3, and all she did was go to fucking sleep. You can't even fuck the robots.

People have to literally download pornographic mods to get the perks and traits and scenarios that used to be present in the base games. Why can't my suburbanite lawyer turned gunslinger whore just fuck her way through the game?

What other mods should I get

Can't target the groin in VATS either anymore. It stands in stark contrast because in many ways Fo3 and Fo4 is much more gruesome than the others. The gore is much worse and all the raiders seem to decorate their homes with tortured corpses strung up on meat hooks to the point you barely even notice them. But drugs and sex are verboten it seems. It's just assumed that raiders use drugs but they never really explore that beyond some blood on the chem-coolers in their camps. Then it's just decent clean people that get addicted by tragic circumstances and you tearfully help them overcome without really solving anything else. Cait is just drug free now and all tendencies towards it are gone because she fell in love with the PC because she watched him pick locks, steal things and use drugs.

It's strange that they made Jet a pre-war drug too. I would've assumed they'd love the humour of people getting high on feces.

Beyond the horrible cartoonish violence there's nothing grimy or harsh about it.

I think Tim Cain is still there. Honestly, I always thought he was better than Avellone.

Sauce plox

Did they go to the 99 cent store before this shoot?

Most of these bitches are trailer/ghetto trash dumbass, the only exception are fugly feminazis who hate their dads

Obsidian was good because of it's fairly good and complex writing. Then they chased the man responsible for. There is little hope for them.

On the other hand Bethesda is terrible at… well… everything not just writing. Their engine is an horror, their animation are stupidly bad, jesus those models and textures.

Only thing they can make is "nice maps", fairly integrated scenery into a bigger coherent world map.

So maybe even current obsidian could make a better game…

The legion isn't anti-tech they're anti pre-war tech. Which is a bit different.

Even like that I never got why the Legion wants you to get rid of the BoS instead of allying with them (which makes so much fucking sense than with the fucking NCR that is winning it's war against the BoS).

The Legion doesn't want to rely to old pre-war tech they want current world tech (which makes sense on the long run or you end up with 40k, priests making mantras to repair shit because they have no fucking clue how shit actually works), the BoS wants to grab all pre-war tech and keep it away from people for their own good.

They perfectly fit together, they even have the whole religious order thing, they could be granted a legion recognized knight order to operate in Legion territory (even if Caesar doesn't want them to participate in the battle).

Obsidian never made a Fallout.
It was just a weird fan game. Fallout ended after 2.

Caesar explains exactly why he never tries to ally with the BoS. It's because he's scared of them. He admits that he can use them, but he can't devour them like he can other tribes. And what happens after the war? If something were to foul up their relations, he'd have a much more dangerous enemy on his hands. Better to just remove them altogether and eliminate the risk.

In the Legion ending, if you didn't destroy Hidden Valley, it says that the legion was able to route the Brotherhood from Hidden Valley and Helios, but only after they had been substantially weakened by the NCR during their offensive. And even then, it was a tough victory.

In the Enclave ending going Caesar's route, he leaves them alone and lets them escape, again out of fear of their power. If you assassinated Caesar, the Legate sends Centurions to hunt them down - and ends up losing "hundreds" of the Legion's best soldiers in the process.

Caesar is a coward, who would rather send a independent agent to do his dirty work, rather than risk a second defeat because of some potential lose end.
