ITT: Ideas for a New Dino Crisis

This year, Dino Crisis 2 will be 16 years old. Assuming Capcom got their shit together, how would you want them to make a new Dino Crisis? Reboot, sequel, or remake? Same gameplay style or new gameplay style?
pic related must stay

DINO CRISIS IN SPACE

oh wait

Boobs

Far Cry Primal with guns obviously

But seriously it wouldn't work with any of the old style so I'd go with Lost Planet with dinosaurs
Also none of the game in the series play the same so I don't know what you're referring to with "same gameplay style"

Fuck that.

Post porn.

No need for Dino Crises when this game exists.

I guess I should've said DC1, DC2, or a new style to be fair.

A return to the survival horror of DC1. The jump to 2 was rough and I dropped that shit without looking back.

Dino Cisis was better than Resident Evil

DC 2 was the best tank controls game ever

They really should make a RE4 style DC

RE4 had tank controls though. or maybe you mean tank controls + fixed camera angle

what was up with Dino Crisis 3 anyway? Why was it so weird?

I beat DC1 for the first time a couple of weeks back and I gotta say, I was very likely playing the game wrong by refusing to use the plugs (they reminded me of RE's first aids in that they're last resort casual enablers, although I did use a couple) but the lack of ammo coupled with the dinos being (rightfully) tanks ended up making the game less action oriented than RE where I could just headshot 3 zombies with one shotgun blast. This made me just avoid fighting every single dino with a couple of exceptions so it ended up being a puzzle solving game with dodging minigames.

I know it's my fault for playing it like this, and I did enjoy outmaneuvering the dinos (fuck those ones in the late game with the long arms, couldn't figure out how to dodge those) and I enjoyed the mixing mechanics and the tranq dart idea is a pretty good one if slightly underdeveloped (again I could dodge most dinos so I only used tranqs or ammo when I was stuck in a room figuring a puzzle out), but it didn't really live up to my expectations. I think I was expecting a more RE type experience instead of it's own thing, but I enjoyed it, the fact that I had no ammo through the whole thing and that I everything takes so much ammo to kill and are hard to stun lock or control like in RE made the combat way scarier, while RE combat's scary because a hunter can one shot you if you're not careful, plus you die faster in general.

I also liked the decision making, that's something that should definitely stay, having two team mates with different approaches to the mission and their job and having to decide which course of action you wanna take, resulting in different endings is always a good idea. It's way better than RE1's obtuse decision system where not waiting for Barry to return with a rope causes him to die because you didn't trust him enough.

So judging from the first game (haven't played the second, heard it's pure action which does sound fun, I think the series doesn't really have an identity) but I'd keep the tranq dart system, the item mixing system and the small branching path decision making.

Unrelated but the game looks pretty good on Retroarch at 2x native resolution.

nah, you just couldnt move while shooting

tank controls mean you move like a tank all the time

In RE4 you can go forward or backward and rotate (aka tank controls), you can't strafe or anything of the sort, RE5 introduced analog movement.

I haven't played Dino Crisis in a million years, but my hazy memory tells me the first one was crap and the second one was awesome Sanic fast RE with combos and shit and it ends in a cliffhanger.

The cliffhanger is explained if you get the true ending requiring multiple play-throughs.

The first one was good but it was more Resident Evil than action game and since Capcom already had a Resident Evil but not an action game like it, Dino Crisis 2 is now held as the superior game by many.

But now, Resident Evil is an action game and we have no Dino Crisis, survival horror or no. This is the worst possible timeline.

For all its faults and misgivings, I still give RE6 its awesome controls and the feel of tumbling gunplay. Main problem here is that the things youre fighting very rarely call for their full usage – zombies are generally only slow and are fought in tight quarters, not least theyre dealt with simply by a headshot.

Dinosaurs? Big, fast, deadly and don't go down from a few bullets.

A game set on on island or some sort of compound with large industrial complexes, office areas, wide open beaches or plains all connected by a jungle thicket with RE6 style controls could be great.

When walking around out in the open, moving between buildings to progress, you need to use fast reactions to dive out of the way of predators and fire back to dissuade them from attacking, but when indoors you can use those same acrobatics to put yourself under tables, into shafts or otherwise behind cover to put yourself out of harms way and save ammo.

Having a semi-open world would allow for the full AAA crafting experience too. Ammo is scarce, guns even more so, but good ol' Regina is a master of survival and can craft makeshift traps, spears and the like for single/limited usage in order to reserve the big guns for larger threats.

Maybe throw in some MGS3-like needing to hunt, eat and manage wounds. You know, learning to make [less effective] herbal remedies in place of medkits.

Capcom could definitely steal some Ark thunder with some Dino Crisis goodness.

Just because she is your shit waifu does not mean you gotta make some dumb as thread about some dumb ass series.

Ok

If you pitch it that way, you'll wind up with an exact clone of the Tomb Raider reboot with dinos thrown in. Or a Jurassic World tie-in.

Just make a game where she is the alpha of a group of qt female raptors.

Pfft, easy. How about CONTINUING WHAT DC2 LEFT HANGING

I know there's Dino Stalker, but almost nobody played it.

Considering that the RE0 and REmake ports sold quite well, I hope Capcom gets the hint and remembers that they also had DC.
The only thing DC we got after the disaster 'DC3' is that in Apollo Justice Machi from THAT case comes from Borginia, the fictional country from DC1.

What case? There's no third case in Apollo Justice, it just jumps to the 4th one for no reason.

I feel you user. I now got that damn song stuck on my head again.

Back to Dino Crisis, I was just listening to the DC2 soundtrack last night. Damn it was good. Personal fav is definitely the credits song.

Here's an idea for a new Dino Crisis: don't call it Dino Crisis.

Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks presents: Saurian Catastrophe

Or as it's known outside of Japan, Reptilian Disaster.

DC1 and DC2 Remake in the same vein as the modern RE games minus QTEs, because guess what? DC2 was basically that and it was good.
