It wasn't a storytime thread, I was asking if Battleaxes was Rat Queens done right. I don't have the book, so I didn't storytime it. Do you bother reading a post before you delete it? This isn't the first time you've deleted one of my threads for "not storytiming", when it wasn't a storytime thread. And how did you ask me to storytime anyway, when you deleted the thread?

Not only was there never a chance that anyone would take their side and indulge in the meta-drama they try to start, but doing this sort of shit only drives the general userbase to reject shut stupid behavior.

The ruling for a while has been that you should go find a scan of a comic, request it in the pinned thread if you have to, and storytime it to give people context for what you're talking about. Exceptions exist, but typically, posting out of context pages or "DAE READ [SERIES]???" type stuff will get your thread deleted unless a good conversation has already started.

I make it a rule that when people are talking about a comic that they story-time it to give the discussion context. Otherwise you get a bunch of anons bitching about a single page or panel without any understanding of what the thing actually is.

And really, there's no excuse for not story-timing the comic you want to bitch about. I found the complete run of Battleaxes, ready for download, in less than five seconds

Okay, I'll spell it out for you nice and clear. If I wanted to talk about something popular that most people have probably already read, like Watchmen for example, should I really have to dump the entirety of Watchmen in order to have a discussion about it?

If yes, then I'm not going to say anything more than "that's fucking retarded." If no, then I want you to come up with some sort of consistent standard by which you judge which comics need to be storytimed and which don't in order to avoid the thread being deleted at the whim of some jackass hotpocketer.

Since the story-time thing has caused some outrage, I'll further explain my position.

I enforce story-time on a case by case basis, but usually what gets hit are threads starting with just a panel or a page and using that to discuss the comic, and threads asking about a comic and it's clear the OP never looked into it himself. I've found the former doesn't promote discussion of the comic in question and leads to anons bitching about other things. The latter is basically spoon-feeding. In either case, I would delete the thread, give the guy a light banning of 15 minutes to an hour, and ask that they post the comic. My involvement ends there.

My reasoning in doing this is that I want Holla Forumsfags to share what comics they've found and for Holla Forumsfags to have an investment in comics, enough that they go out and discover some unique stuff. In the case of Battleaxes and in all cases where I enforce story-time, I genuinely want them to go out, find the comic, and share it. It improves discussion and exposes Holla Forumsfags to comics they might otherwise not be aware of.

Banning people for minor shit does not encourage discussion of any kind, unless that discussion is what a faggot you are

I agree. It isn't as bad as when redwood fucked Holla Forums but it doesn't have enough freedom to really make a difference from regular Holla Forums. About the best I can say are that people here don't talk about cartoons like soap operas but the Star vs fans are starting to bring that into the mix.

Mark is quickly ruining Holla Forums lately. Hell, about the best thing I can say is that Holla Forums sort of handles it right but I've even had threads 404'd on there because they triggered autists and I was reported. I miss the days mods only 404'd obvious bait or completely off topic threads. Others they would just instruct people to hide the shit they didn't like.

I'll say this though, I am thankful to hotwheels for at least giving us a last taste of what 4chan used to be like before moot sold us out.

The reason the storytime rule even started was because there was a time when the majority of active threads on Holla Forums were people getting whipped up into a frenzy over a single panel or page posted without context.
