Perhaps it is for you, but the Swedish politicians can still easily ignore everything the way a corrupt dictator would be able to ignore the sorry state of his country. The difference is that dictators avoid doing things which threaten their own lifestyle, whereas Swedish politicians do not. This more likely to be a product of ignorance than a desire for self-destruction,but things will become clearer as self-destruction becomes a more immediate threat. This does not necessarily provide an incentive to fix the country, but it does force them to prioritize self preservation, which would mean no more immigrants from anywhere.
The media would, quite simply, have to deal with it. It's power comes from mutual gain alongside the government, which is what's happening right now, but when self-preservation becomes the government's priority the media and the government will be on opposite sides. And that's a fight the media will not be able to win.
