80's Girl's Cartoons

I'm tired of cynical shit and grinning potatoes. Let's have a thread about something with genuine innocence and joy.

the 80s MLP designs weren't nearly as hot

Shit thread op

Also after rewatching some of the old Care Bears cartoons I now realize why I thought Snow Miser was a villain for so many years.

Feel free to add you favorites to the discussion user. I never saw Jem as a kid was it any good?

Thanks Faust

>care bears was a girls cartoon
I genuinely liked that shit, specially when the bad guy gets converted and just needed a hug.
MLP on the other hand didnt have any mercy on the bad guys

Care Bears definitely falls in the category of “saccharine little kids cartoon made for marketing”

SHOO BEE DOO

You can have a nice ice cold glass of my shit, my fagetino.

Get the fuck off my board, crusty cunts

That may be so, but it was still pretty good.

OK.

...

I remember there being a few "villain redemption" episodes here and there.

But yeah, the Care Bears were way more merciful. That's one of the reasons I liked it. They were nice to everyone, even to the bad guys. That's a good message for kids.

...

Rainbow Brite was a well put together show. It had a deep mythology and It was also suprisingly dark at times.

The difference between the Care Bears and that cuck is that they weren't doormats who just let themselves get pushed around. Any mother fucker who did got a taste of the rainbow!

I've been trying to remember these toys since yesterday. Apparently it did have a short TV movie.

That’s more than you can say about the FiM wannabe reboot, right?

Speaking of Care Bears, how are the relaunches?

truly japanese are the superior race

The Purple Pieman seems like the clear winner of the "Have You Tried Not Being an Asshole Award" in these kind of cartoons. His mission in life isn't really antithetical to Shortcake and her friends. Tirek, Hydia, Coldherat, No Heart, Dark Heart & Shreeky, The Spirit, Murky & Lurky, The Dark Princess, and others like them wand to destroy love and happiness and color and things like that. Pieman just want's to make pies. I'm pretty sure SS would trade him some berries or outright just give them to him if he just asked.

It's a fun cartoon if you're willing to deal with moments of bad animation and some weird plots like the evil rival band traveling through time.

It means her dad

...

What's wrong with Care Bears?

Absolutely nothing, but I've always considered it more of a "little kids" show rather than strictly a "girl" show. Ergo, it always bugs me when the group it with shows like jem and MLP.

But, since the OP wants cozy goodness…

It didn’t help MLP and CB shared much of the same gimmicks

Jem was good. Keeps up its pace throughout its run, manages to stay strong even after a time travel episode.
The antagonists are motivated by greed and jealousy while still being talented in their own right, and when they show up you know shits about to explode or something. They are actually pretty well realized characters by the end (there's a reason jem threads have their share of legit misfits fans)

Just stay away from the movie and comics

That it didn't. Still, The Care Bears were probably the biggest tenet of my childhood, so really, it's always been more of a personal nitpick than a legitimate problem.

Anyhoo, since we're on the subject of girl cartoons, Anyone remember a cartoon a bout a bunch of these princess that had different hair colors and I think maybe a prince or her brother that was secretly a wolf or some shit.

Anyone know what I'm talking about, or was it some weird fever dream?

He's like a cereal commercial type villain. He's just being a dick simply for the sake of being one.

...

Typo? They ARE both symbol-based colorful animal things

How come Loli girls in the 80s actually look like little girls? Loli girls in anime now all how thicc child bearing hips and big tits for their age.

Watch stuff for little girls.

Anime wasn't being made by and specifically for otaku back then. This is one of the issues Miyazaki is 100% correct on.

I liked pic related and wanted the toy.

Typo? I mean, you’d have to be an asshole not to see the similarities

From what I've read the cutie marks in MLP were inspired by tummy symbols in Care Bears.

Let's call it 'Template-Based Design' for the moment. It's actually really common and it seems to be a pretty successful tactic that worked for Carebears, Trolls, My Little Pony, He-Man, Barbie, and GI Joe: Take an aesthetically appealing base, something that looks good enough, then switch out a few details, change the color scheme, add a few accessories, and give it a unique symbol or name as the cherry on top.

MLP:FIM's shit is so simple and easily replicable that people are able to make fan-animations that are on par with the animation of the official products. But this sort of thing also worked for shit like Homestuck, Bleach, and Attack on Titan. A large cast of visually identical characters with only a few distinct traits tends to give audiences one or two characters that they can latch onto and claim as their favorites.

At any rate, I really liked the Care Bears as a kid. The cousins were my favorites, especially Brave Heart Lion, which was a small attempt to spice up the template-based designs, by added different-styled heads onto the identical body style that they used for every other character in the cartoon and the stuffed toys.

I dont think any of those cartoons are for little girls, user-kun
smh tbh fam

>not turning your enemies into housewives
pleb

sounds rad.

i wouldnt go THAT far. but i guess the current year + 2 cartoons look like shit now

Because of models, back in the day artist got naked children pictures to practice anatomy in their drawings.
Now is not allowed and artist have to guess it from adult models, recently the author of Rurouni Kenshin got accused of having "cp" although the more detailed description it only refers to "Content regarding nude kids under 15". Depending on how anti-anime you are the way and intensity he was detained and how vague the description of the content is, varies, but for me is clear he was practicing some drawings but since the announcement of the Olympics the laws god harder.

got* harder, is also worth to notice that the content was also found in his office.

maybe because that cartoon is for horny boys?

The biggest charges amount to a year in prison and a fine, max if found guilty. So yeah, I think is some bullshit.

"Dad" needs some serious therapy, and maybe some chemical castration. And by "dad," I mean "the writers."

…Wow, I must have stoked out when typing that out.

No, they're all indeed for little girls/shojo.
Shojo
Shojo
Shojo
Shojo
Shojo

Also Candy Candy was 70s with a film in the 90s, not 80s. Princess Knight is a manga from the fucking 50s that was animated in the 60s.

Did forget Pastel Yumi though.

The materials that Nobuhiro Watsuki possessed weren't Child referencing books but videos with little girls doing gravure and JAV like material.

Those things were produced in Japan until 1999, when it was declared illegal. Watsuki had over 100 dvds when the police searched his house.

Well, fuck me, that may actually change the way I look at Rurouni Kenshin My favorite animu.
Archive?

Well, that depends, was he found with more content or the same as in the 90s.

...

Is that enough to kill someone? I can picture them just breaking their hips.
Shit halaling.

How so?

Well, if he was just found with the same content he bought ever since the 90's then we find the artistic inspiration of Samura X's story of atonement and redemption, but if he bought them recently then is a massive case of hypocrisy since Kenshin always respected the law even if he didn't agree with it.

The fall seems higher than 20ft so yeah I would assume they'd die from that.

separate the artists from the art, user.

Someone in /a/ translated the articles about it
>>>/a/761319

Is like if you tell me that Wander Over Yonder was a cover up, money laundering scheme to sell drugs to kids.

stop, user! you will get cancer

You have shit taste.

The articles are in moonspeak. Unless you can speak moonspeak and translate the articles, be my guest.

If I'm not mistaken Brave Heart was the only one of the entire bunch that had fingers too.

The gay pink triangle faces down.

This episode introduces best, worst girl.

I loved Jem and She-Ra as a kid. Watched 'em just I like did G.I. Joe and He-Man.

I remember when the 2 child care bears Hugs and Tugs had to deal with the guilt of a friend dying in the process of saving their lives.

Care Bears are effectively angels right? The second movie starts out with a scene where they basically ascend into heaven and are granted caring powers to help everyone on Earth.

Well you look at that.

then we corrupt it with porn

this is so much worse than that mother that photographs real naked photos of her children, but no one says a word about it being cp because she's a woman

lol double standard

I grow increasingly disdainful of how sterilized shows for much older audiences have gotten when the penultimate little kids show had something like this in it.

I wonder if there are any other simplistic little gems like this hidden in this old series, but am afraid to look cause I'd probably end up on a watch list.

What gets me is how tasteful and, well, mature it is. It's calculated in a good way, like it respects the audience enough for them to understand "going away" without completely rubbing it in. Compare that to other shows that rub their noses into things like sex and relationships through convoluted metaphors.

It's actually pretty graceful to me.

No My Little Pony where they actually look like horses?

Where do you think Megan is from?
