I've never played a single Final Fantasy game before. Which ones, including all the spin-offs and shit, are definitely worth playing or just should be played to not miss out on anything? Which ones should be definitely avoided? I assume everything Lightning related, which others?
I've never played a single Final Fantasy game before. Which ones, including all the spin-offs and shit...
Stop listening to Holla Forums memes. The series peaked with the XIII trilogy, with Lightning returns being objectively the best game ever made
Actually the lightning games are fine, it's just a meme to hate on them because the character lightning is forced hard, otherwise they're good
Let me stop you there
This was made by some user when I asked pretty much same question.
I would also recommend Bravely Default.
Aren't they more linear than cod games though?
user seriously, you can't believe every single fucking meme on Holla Forums, just play them, you're lucky this thread isn't memed to death already and actually has a few decent responses. Good luck to you anyway
XIII is linear and boring, but XIII-2 and Lightning Returns are good
Depends on what you're looking for.
If you like retro jRPG, go for 4.
If you really like being able to absolutely break the game, 8 is a must try.
If you want something more modern try 9.
If you like tRPG rather than jRPG, try Tactics.
I tried 13 and I've got to say letting it get to the end of the first disk without being able to do anything but use attack and items was a fucking stupid idea and everything is fucking shit until endgame (which coincidentally is where it stops being a hallway armpit fetishism sim). Also the memes aren't lying. The director/writer/whoever invented her honest to god made three games of one of the most well known and long running game series ever just to wank off about his waifu, her armpits, lack off ass, and shitty no-personality personality before making her become a god and go into the real world to be with him at the end.
Of all of them 8 and Tactics are my favorites, partially because Quistis was my waifu before I found out what a waifu was and have nostalgia goggles for balamb garden something fierce but mostly because it's the best one for breaking with junction stats.
Play Final Fantasy Tactics and then forget Final Fantasy ever existed.
Ok found the second user.
He haven't played 9, rest was unimportant.
4 and 6. I guess 7 too. After that the series pretty much died fast.
It was a great political drama.
Wait, what picture is real? This is a thing that happened?
Yes, Louis Vuitton did a marketing campaign with Lightning as a model this year. A month or two ago there was a huge poster of her in the mall near me. She's very tall in person.
Thank you. I think I might stay away from Bravely Default though. I know I've heard good things about it, but all the bad shit I've heard makes me not want to get into it. Or maybe I will when I get around to downgrading my 3DS and all that shit.
Nice to hear the first FF is recommended.
What I'm taking from this so far is
1, 4, 6, 7, probably 8, 10? and Tactics.
8 is shit in every way imaginable. The story is shit, best girl loses and you're stuck with a cum dumpster on rebound, the protagonist is an emo shit, the gameplay systems are ass and basically force you to grind like a faggot. There is no reason to play FFVIII.
As bad as Bravely Default was, it's was still one of the best Final Fantasy games made in probably the last decade.
Probably important if you haven't already guessed: there's no continuity between numbers. You don't have to play them in order or anything.
Also 7 is shit. Don't even bother with it. It's a reddit-tier nostalgia meme.
I'm still amazed this is a thing that happened IRL
SE built that fucking car from XV IRL. And I'm pretty sure fashion designers designed the clothes for all the cast.
SE just loves burning money.
That's probably because they've got nintendo-deep pockets.
They don't give a fuck
Well better not play 90% of the FF games then eh :^)
It is basically old-school FF so it was actually very solid game with fucked up localization and writing in places is shit. I am unsure if writing is caused by localization or is like this in original.
If you want do pirate 3DS in near future wait for pirating it. Don't give money to these people.
Also drop 1, 4th is better while still being same as 1.
I must say it is quite weird.
On the note of old-school FF, I'm surprised I see so little discussed about Lost Odyssey. It's pretty much what FF X should've been and if you think otherwise look at who made it.
Final Fantasy 13 made it so I cannot talk to anyone about Final Fantasy ever again. This is the face of the series now and no matter how good or bad 15 may be its just too late. FF now is trash
Which country was this? France only?
I live in Boston and took this picture
She still looks like an androgynous boy.
I'm gonna marry that androgynous boy some day
I don't know why you bother, it's not like he won't find out that they're shit if he tries them.
Play IX OP; it's the perfect beginners entry to FF, from there just pick what looks more interesting to you.
Your waifu is not real.
Oh jeez ya got me
brb killing myself
LO brings painful memories because it is yet another show how badly the 360 fell.
BUT user, SHE BECOMES REAL AT THE END OF LR! Too bad she came to France, enjoy those Mudslime sloppy seconds.
Not only a redditfag but you also have shit taste.
Damn I would love to have Black Mage as a proper character in RPG.
Found the problem.
Now you understand the suffering of Ace Combat fans.
You mean like Vivi in IX?
I actually enjoyed the XIII games a lot, played XIII around the same time I bought Lost Odyssey. It's hard to say which one I like better. Recently got XIII-3 (lightning returns) and I'm also positively surprised, also runs well on my PC.
I also think FFX is an absolutely amazing game. It's also really well emulated on PCSX2.
I don't really think any of the Final Fantasies or 'spin off'/'FF except-in-name' games are unrecommendable, honestly. Any JRPG fan should have a blast with all of them in their own ways.
All that you/we really need is basically a 'play this first, then this, then this' for the best general experiences.
...
So there is one. Good enough for me.
Play it on PC or Android?
You can have your opinion while I have mine.
Blue Dragon was also great. Should really play more of the Dragon Quest games, especially if they're similar enough.
You having the right to an opinion does not mean your opinion is protected from ridicule.
FFXIII was a horrible game, and the only good thing about X was the combat system.
They released IX on Steam a little while back, I haven't actually played it on there yet so I couldn't tell you if they removed/added anything.
I played through this game 3 times
???
Ace Combat 6 was good, though.
And stuck on the shit box.
Theres something wrong with me, i think blitzball is fun
As long life PC-fag with exception of few handhelds I cannot really say feel bad for them.
It is basically my entire life.
I'm not going to read the thread but almost every ff from 1 to 12 is fine, just avoid 7 and 13+
was it fun?
Yeah, there's something wrong with you.
I'm actually curious, what draws you to Blizball of all things?
literally none of them
Offtopic, does Vagrant Story count as a spinoff?
Play every final fantasy in order barring FF2 and the spin-offs
problem solved.
ignore everyone else itt
Oh. I don't understand how people aren't idorts, provided you can afford it.
I don't wanna buy a console just for that one game.
watersports
Yes
It's basically like Dinosaur king except you fight bosses to get the good cards + Mario party like mini-games.
