Welcome to /leftytg/, a magical place where all leftist discussion about PPRPG, Tabletop Wargames, LARPing etc. happens.
Feel free to discuss anything you feel is relevant whether it's Porky Workshop's latest fuckery with their Warhammer franchise, creating your own ruleset for a custom version of D&D or whatever. Everything is allowed as long as it is even vaguely related to traditional gaming.
/leftyb/ Equivalant here: >>>/leftyb/1023
Thanks again to drawfriend-user for giving us the amazing banner that is pic related.
Well, uh, I made some custom feats for fantasy craft. Saw this post >>>/leftyb/2040 and ran with it.
So here's the feat chain. It would belong in the Style feat tree.
Capitalism Basics Prerequisites: Player Character Benefit: The maximum number of Tradesmen any of your Holdings may benefit from increases to your total Lifestyle, instead of the default 3. Tradesmen still count as guests, and may not exceed the Holding’s maximum guests. Special: You may not gain this as a temporary feat.
Capitalism Mastery Prerequisites: Capitalism Basics Benefit: NPCs you control such as Followers may make their own Downtime checks to generate income using Kits and Workshops you own or control. You may take a percentage of the value they produce equal to the Money Saved/Earned percentage granted by your Prudence. Also, characters (including Tradesmen) who work your means of production may produce Reputation for you instead of just silver value. For non-Tradesmen, you take the same percentage you normally would (rounded down). Special: You may not gain this as a temporary feat.
Capitalism Supremacy Prerequisites: Capitalism Mastery Benefit: Your Holdings may benefit from any number of Tradesmen so long as no Holding has more than its maximum guests. Also, when collecting your income from workers using your means of production, you may make a Bargain check with the workers to increase your share. The base value is what you would normally make, standing in for the price, and you are considered the “seller.” The details of how the check is made depends on the setting and circumstances, but by default this check should be made with each worker individually. Remember that Haggle checks are modified by Disposition, so keep your workers loyal to maximize profit. Special: You may not gain this as a temporary feat.
Parker Turner
I wanna take this opportunity to show off my WIP Daemon Prince. He's almost done, but need to do the base and touch up some other stuff. Might do the whip completely differently but idk how exactly.
Also notice the dead grey knight.

Filthy dumb chaos scum

Next you'll tell me Slaneeshi hedonism is bad like the Holla Forumsack you are.

And they say this board can't create dank memes.
Did autismball spawn here? I'm sure I saw it in another form before but now I associate it with leftypol
What about Varg's homebrew system? The one where in order to join the vaguely Semitic religion you have to drink the blood of a white baby and gender roles are written into the system? I remember it having some pretty funny bits. And abysmal swimming rules.
Yep, that's the one. It's funny that people go to such lengths to defend it on Amazon. It wasn't even a particularly good system from what I recall. If it wasn't for the stormfag subtext and Varg's own infamy it would've been ignored completely and condemned to total obscurity.
Daniel Jackson
Wat do?
Brody Hernandez
Dunno, haven't GM'd before.
Maybe try to make him relatable in some way in terms of personality before you start to introduce any of character features and views that give him away as an anarchist, also try to make the views seem sensible in the setting through stuff like backstory. Maybe the character has issues with authority because of his upbringing or has had bad experiences with authority figures like the state previously in his life.
Could you provide a bit more context so we have something to actually work with?
Carson Barnes
The PCs are the bad guys hired by TPTB to take down this rogue element. Don't ham it up too much though.
Adrian Richardson
Players are 6 city-level heroes, who were brought together by the city's most famous hero to protect the city while she's off saving the world. One of them is a cop, one of them is employed by the government, but the rest probably have no particular affinity for authority or capitalism.
Matthew Turner
Relying on established, easy to understand tropes in a case like this can often be a benefit. Perhaps you could have your anarchist villain take on a sort of robin hood-esque role in the city, where he's supporting the working class' weakest elements and the heroes are being directed by the capitalists whose interests he's threatening? Could be a good opportunity to throw in some other neat elements as well, like media narrative manipulation and critiques of private property ownership.
Tyler Baker
Give him traits that will endear him to your players and their characters specifically. When the players metagame it can ruin everything, but the GM should metagame all the time to maximize the chances that things play out in a way that everyone likes. Give the "villain" some back story that makes him sympathetic. Or hell, have the players bump into him in a different context so they form a positive impression of this guy as a random NPC, then later on reveal him as this big time anarchist.
Caleb Flores
then why do I see tankies elsewhere on the board?
Ryan Perez
I play Malifaux, does anyone else play that? Also my players in a Pathfinder campaign once decided they wanted to institute Maoism. They killed each other over a potion the next session. I don't know if there's a lesson there about real maoist revolutionaries, but i like to think there is.
Zachary Phillips
He organizes local councils to provide services to people in war-torn areas. But he also resorts to banditry and theft
William Sanders
tbh I get the impression that everyone in this fucking board is larping

This thread has now been collectivized for the greater good, all citizens must report to the nearest processing area for rehabilitation and re-education.
Thank you for your co-operation.

Ok so I cancelled the M&M campaign for various reasons. We're now choosing a new game. Are there any good games with leftists themes? I already know about Eclipse Phase.
Jaxson Stewart
I find it funny how butthurt the spess mehrines autists were about the Tau being good guys in muh grimdark so GW had to add some evil agenda.
I think the butthurt was more about any faction whatsoever being "good guys". If the spessmereens, for example, considered normal humans to be equal to them, and commissars gave pats on the back rather than bullets, 40K wouldn't have the vibe it does. GW then changed it so the Tau are now regular evil, just not cartoonishly so. It's a little better, but in my mind they don't fit.
You can still play the computer games, shadow run hong-kong, is pretty fun.
Luke Diaz
How do you guys decide what your characters look and behave like? Do you imitate any examples or try to express a part of yourself?
I always tend to give my characters and NPCs brown eyes for some reason, and shorter heights, even if playing an already short race like halflings/gnomes.
Connor Perez
First character I ever made for roleplaying was a dwarf warrior for a one-shot campaign of LotFP, I portrayed him usually as pretty simple minded fella who was a mixture of tactical genius, greed, impulsiveness mixed in with just a teeny bit of cynicism and/or nihilism when interacting with the other characters.
In terms of looks I usually imagine my characters as short, fat and ugly af. basically me IRL ;_;
Pic related is the campaign I played for my first ever session of Pen & Paper RPG.

Any drawfags around that want to try making some OC?
Angel Torres
Not as good as Dragonfall, imo. I hate how you spend nearly the whole game just doing errands and fucking around while waiting for an NPC to advance the plot. It's like the PC has no agency whatsoever.

What do you have in mind?

Maybe some practical examples of how a communist economy in RPGs (fantasy or otherwise) would differ from the traditional form of exchanging currency for commodity like what was discussed in the /leftyb/ thread.
Either that or maybe just jokes and memes similar in vein to the pics that were posted in the OP.
Wish I had more ideas right now but unfortunately I don't, so I guess you'll just have to get creative.
Jonathan Sanders
Any of you play War Thunder?
The Soviets are OP and I loooove it
Ryder Cook
This isn't the pic I'm thinking of, but there's a poster with men of various races standing side by side holding a gommie flag. It's kind of like this pic except they're standing shoulder to shoulder and facing to the left. That, but with fantasy races would be neato. That or, like, famous philosophers as dwarves.
Ian Kelly
Here's a quick shitty marx dwarf.
Alexander Perez
Didn't check /leftyb/, but it's hard to show. The whole point of Communism that economy (or law of value; because that's how we perceive economy en masse) is not a factor.
You come out of your room, come down to the street, come to vending machine, press button, get a bottle and drink it. Where is Communism?
Some might notice that you didn't insert the money/pay with credit card, but that's it. Do you own the room? Did you rent it? Did someone assign you it? Can you get another? Do you need to do something to keep this one? Can someone kick you out of it?
Jason Peterson
Used to play it in the past a lot, its been a while since I uninstalled it though and don't feel like reinstalling.
Sounds like a pretty decent concept for a piece, hope this gets implemented.
I honestly kek'd when I saw this, if only he had a lantern and a pickaxe stained with the blood of class traitors and revisionists it would be perfect.

What kind of game were you planning on making? Do you have a specific engine you wanted to use? 2D or 3D?
I got the free version of Unity 5 recently and have watched some tutorials on recreating simple 2d games like Pong with it.
The hardest part really is knowing the coding language, for everything else you pretty much only need to have the most basic of artistic skills to get shit done.
Adrian Hernandez
I think you lost your way to /leftyv/
Lincoln Powell
Would it be worthwhile to write leftist genre fiction? Like fantasy novels or whatever but with marxian economics being the theme? Would that be useful for raising class consciousness?
Leo Stewart
Cool, motivation always helps.
So get some experience. If you can't play with people then do single player games.
OK so make them for yourself? You don't have to make games for money to make games.
Adrian Fisher
Of course, just look at how popular shit like Star Trek is and consider the fact that its basically what post scarcity life would be like.
Personally I've recently started writing a Sci-fi novel which is set in a FALC near future where shit like space exploration is so cost-effective and cheap its pretty much done completely by hobbyists.
Genetic engineering too is a common practice and highly advanced to the point we can create entirely new species from the existing genepool in nature so shit like elves that used to be nothing but fantasy myths could now easily be grown in an artificial womb just by adding in the necessary genetic material for things like pointed earlobes.
Oliver Russell
This is going to be a riot.
Just keep in mind, people will read your stuff and will comment it.
It's called "Socialism".
Asher Diaz
Is not about the money or playing alone, I want to play the games I make with my friends but I see my rpg group too rarely to even bring up the topic
Jace Turner
So form another RPG group
Jordan Hughes
Cost effective as in cost in resources, not currency. Shouldn't it be pretty obvious when talking about FALC?

Hey fams, I've been thinking of running a game and I put together this setting for it. It would probably be via Skype or IRC or whatever the majority of players prefer. No voice, text-based. Looking at Apocalypse World for the system.
Please send me a call if you're interested, I worked real hard to put this out before it ceases to be fiction.
John Myers
I'd certainly be interested in this, sounds like it could be a fun experience and it certainly seems plausible scenario-wise.
I can only play during the weekends though, I have work during the rest of the week and the timezones will no doubt be varied between the people participating in the campaign unless everyone's a Europoor like me.
Too bad it isn't set in a nuclear wasteland, then we could play as a group of Posadists waiting for our alien comrades to come and uplift us to glorious space communism.
