ITT: Good licensed games

Pic-related is one of the best modern licensed games I've ever played. It's a shame seeing what's happened to the franchise as a whole now, and not to mention that the tie-in game for the new movie is gonna suck ass.

What are some other good licensed games?

These two right here.

I purchased a TRON game expecting neon lights and lasers everywhere with dank music and it was exactly what i got. So i consider it a good purchase

Basically a cheap DMC but I enjoyed it.

City is good too imho

I don't know why they are so much better than other licensed games.

The first Riddick was purdy good. I didn't like the sequel as much but it was still very enjoyable considering quality FPS/Stealth hybrids were getting scarce.
I wouldn't mind another game in the Riddick universe at all, Pitch Black could be made into a noice survival horror game.

I unironically love that game.

These two are better than the movies.
I finished Wanted about 9 times to unlock everything, the mechanics were really interesting.

...

Came here to post this.

Easily the only good non-star wars licensed series.

Muh niggers, new Riddick game is gonna come one day.

SOMEBODY

Both of those games were a blast to play, a real shame they are so hard to get a hold of these days.

Despite disliking the show I have to give massive props to the creators of the Spongebob movie game; I played it to help my boss's kid get past a level and discovered a challenge factor above and beyond the target audience's capabilities with some really good ideas

Ghostbusters really was pretty good
based on the script for ghostbusters 3
only real complaints are that the game has you spending too much time shooting "corporeals" (ghosts you don't need to trap) and the concept art clearly has you playing as Tully (Rick Moranis is well and truly retired)

why the fuck did they not put multiplayer in the PC version

PC version was basically the worst version
no character customization, no multi, and the particle effect on the opening screen almost burned out my old video card
still a pretty good game despite being the worst version

Love both of these. Refreshing takes on a children's card game.

...

JUST

Seeing as Vin Diesel is a massive vidya autist, the chances of a new Riddick game aren't that bad.

Just because konami is too jewish to hire VA's, even when they own the studio that can get them.

Classic licensed game

Fantastic click and point. While I wouldn't go as far as most people as to say the plot is worthy of being Indy 4, it's still good, and does feel like an Indiana Jones adventure.

I also came here to post this.
Lord Of The Rings games are also good especially that one that was on one of the early gameboys. Loved that shit.

Also pretty much every lego game, in my opinion, but I am not sure if that counts cause they are all pretty much the same game. Except lego words aka action lego minecraft, shits good too..

I love that about him, and he doesn't seem like a casual either, if I ever became a famous actor I would also use my shekels for video game development like him. Its cool as fuck that he has that studio.

There's a video online somewhere, for a Fast and Furious movie, I think, and they ask the cast whether they play any videogames. Everyone starts talking about shit like farmville and facebook games, and Vin Diesel just reveals his powerlevel and starts talking about Warcraft and Halo and shit.

Take a failed shameless, and not all the original, toy commercial anime and give it to the team behind Custom Robo and you get a pretty cool game.

Does the Ghostbusters game work on PCSX2?

...

It has a PC version.

He's right, I've seen it before.

>Warcraft and Halo
I'm sure the guy likes real games, but come on.

Which this thread has established is shit.

It works and the gameplay is the same, apart from the multiplayer that is dead anyway.

Also from what I'm reading the graphics are superior.

A better explanation of him revealing his power level was when he was asked about the high point of his life, and he said it was getting a foreword into a D&D rulebook, before sperging about his characters.

I'm well aware he has Melkor tatted across his back.

This is one of those "if you like the show you'll love this" kinda games, though it's a decent enough platformer in it's own right.

Toy Story 2.

10/10

that game looked pretty good but the gameplay was so fucking medicore

agreed

The movies are shit, that PS2\PC TPS is better than them, also underrated as fuck game

mah nigga

8 years ago, liking Warcraft and Halo used to hold more weight

I replayed it recently and although it isn't as great as i remember it's still some darn good fun

Yeah, it made you a fucking casual.
I remember bitching about them on Holla Forums when they were new. I don't see what's changed other than their fanboys grew up.

Sure you do, kiddo. go back to your sippy cups.

Im already seeing 360\ps3 babies praising their "classics"
Halo faggots are old now, so they think they are any less of a bunch of casual faggots

see

Why do people keep insisting on acting like they know a goddamn thing about me or my life?
Fuck you, nigger.

Best interpretation of a looney tunes short in game from. Some of the animation going on in this was insane to see for ps1, environments & art looked great for the time too.

No, fuck you.

What the fuck are you gonna do about it? Come back when you have a leg to stand on.

I lost my legs in a horrible video game accident. Stop triggering me.

I hate you people

Stop being a little bullying bitch. That guy lost his fucking legs, have some decency.

Sucks for him, my legs are ok.

FUCK

MY

KINGS

are you kidding me

N SHIT

The SpongeBob movie game is alright, but I prefer Battle for Bikini Bottom.

Never played either of those is the Wolverine one cuhrayzee?

I remember renting this as a kid from Blockbuster and thinking it was too hard, so I took it back Now I really want to play it.

City is pretty okay. Arkham Asylum will always be the best of the series though. I haven't even bothered with anything past City, i've heard they get pretty shitty after that one.

Yeah, the corporeals felt like a bunch of filler. But i loved the game all the same.

I started playing this a few weeks ago but sort of wound up dropping it to play other stuff. I look forward to going back to it.

Fuck yes. I loved that one.

What was wrong with it? I never played that one Since I never owned a PS1. Did it just base itself more off the manga instead of the tv series or something?

best version

King Kong was fucking fantastic, I can't believe I forgot about it. Playing that on PS2 was great, and fighting the T-Rexes as King Kong, breaking the jaw off of one, beyond satisfying. I was kind of surprised it managed a T rating though, I always thought that was pretty crazy for just a T game.

I just wanted a thread about good licensed games, c'mon guys..

Dynasty warriors

Also Full House Tournament Fighter and Super Noah's Ark 3D.

DESIGNATED

It's a half-decent hack and slash that does a few neat things.

Nothing except that it made a crater out of my asshole.

Star Wars and Lord of the Rings games are usually great.

No it didn't, at all. Halo is owned by fucking Microsoft the biggest technology company out there and Blizzard were the largest and most popular developer of PC games at the time. They were always casual and mainstream games, it is flat out unbelieveable to me just how deluded fans of both series are.

Halofags and Blizzardfags are easily offended, its hard to talk to them.

Im not sure if this is considered modern. This was released in 2005.
Maybe one of the best punisher games out there

Shameful.

Why don't they base more Punisher games on the Garth Ennis run. That game perfectly captured the Marvel Knights part of his run, I'd love to see the same team do the MAX part of the run.

You say that like there is any other

Funny how a shitty franchise can make such a good game.

Dude also played a shitton of D&D when he was a bouncer.

Come on man.

...

Chronicles of Riddick is absolutely shitty.

That said Pitch Black is fun, and Riddick can be a fun character.

Do you know the difference between "one of the best" and "the best"

...

you are implying the others are any good, they arent

Maybe I have shit taste, but I enjoyed that one. Showed how big a full blown Riddick universe game like setting could be.
Also the animu I enjoyed, nothing big but alright.

Third movie went back to its roots, decent shit.

It got butchered, some went to make the Syndicate reboot and others sold to the bad guys and made Wolfstein: The Jew Order

Depends. Halo CE wasn't casual here in Europe because casuals didn't own an xbox. It was all PS2.

Warcraft died after Warcraft 2 and I'm not aloud to talk about Blizzard anymore on the advice of my therapist.

I had honestly forgotten the third movie was even released. I'll have to watch that.

Watch this too, it's stuff that didnt make into the movie turned into a motion comic.

Aye too harsh, the first movie is cool.

Vin Diesel seems like a great guy though.

Of course he is. Dude seems bro-tier.

Pretty cool.

Honestly it would be a sweet world to get an RPG in, or something as open and faction driven.

I picture a star traversing Morrowind.

no, you don't have to watch it, trust me

A hardcore Punisher game would be so great, the character himself is perfect for a vidya adaptation.

Make it a third person shooter that plays similar to Blacklist in the sense that you have the Panther and Assault options, where the fighting is centered around misdirecting and ambushing the enemies (Frank is human after all, not a bullet sponge) with a little Arkham thrown in with the enemies panicking the more of them you take out.

You can pick and choose what criminal organization to take apart making the game somewhat non-linear, and to get more clues/missions you have to torture suspects. Frank also has to manage a heat (police response) and fear (for the criminals) meters that affect the situation on the map.

You would also get to steal the criminal's money to buy new guns and upgrade your old ones, and could scope any location beforehand to plan your approach.

He actually agreed to star in a Fast and Furious movie if the studio gave him the Riddick IP. Also, he's an avid Dungeons and Dragons player. Man is a nerd and was directly involved in the making of the Riddick game.

I've only played 30 minutes of asylum and I didn't like it at all. The combat just kills me inside.

The combat is simply garbage. It isnt a good game. The first one was interesting because it was unique, it didnt do anything to improve itself.

I still have it. It was not meant for children, impossible

Holy shit that filename

The first Godfather-game was pretty fun and good. Also had a lot of fun with Scarface, but the Godfather-game was the better one.

Or anyone who's ever actually played or seen yu gi oh before, jesus. Like the first real battles in the game are against some scrubs, but then you get to Not Kaiba and he can pull a fucking blue eyes out of his ass like it's nothing.

I always thought as a kid you had to do something special to beat him, like pull exodia or something, but apparently you're not suppose to win?

Anyone know where I can buy this at a reasonable price? Everywhere I look its at least $50 for PC and that's not going to fucking happen.

I also think some of them went on to make PD2 but I'm not sure about that. Either way, unless some new talent is found there is a chance another Riddick game turns out to be a disappointment.

Piracy is the way to go at this point. I'm pretty sure no matter what you do that original studio isn't getting your money.

Your best bet would be to pirate. Didn't know the game was around 50 now, bought it for 5 bucks a few years ago.

may as well just pirate it. The only other option is buying it for ps2 or xbox(which are like, 15 bucks each.

Diesel needs to headhunt again, and with non-cuck nords (oxymoron right there)
Also after the whole mess about dev time with Dark Athena i think Diesel wants nothing with vidya until he has a good publisher… or makes it digital only

It's one game I'd actually want to own a physical copy of, if possible. I guess I'll go searching around.

Good luck, sure you can find it for a lot less.

In that case your best bet is hitting up local PC shops, Goodwills (or whatever your regional equiv is), or flea markets and just hope you get lucky.

It wasn't a crazy popular game sadly so I'm sure there aren't boatloads of copies, but you might get lucky.

Good hunting.

...

That shit was completely broken.

Pitch Black was good and the third Riddick movie was alright. it was the original theatrical cut of the second movie that blows.

My nigga

Any of you guys remember the PS2 hulk games? they were really good.

I remember Ultimate destruction being not half bad

I think the first one was a direct sequel of the hulk movie and introduced a pretty good version of Abomination.

This game was surprisingly good.
80% of the game is survival horror with Jack.
20% you get to beat the fuck out of dinosaurs and shit as kingkong
Also dat atmosphere.

Surprisingly fun

...

The T-Rex parts where fucking terrifying dude.

The Thing game looks interesting but I've heard it is a clusterfuck and a mess.

It would be interestingto play a terror game like that, where you have to figure out who is infected.

Fucking hell

Those were GOATs in terms of licensed games and you know it. Music is 10/10.

Anyone remember JPOG?

It was a fine kek. Though the game was a kinda bland platformer. It was an OK rental.

The one he owns is just a production company that can be assembled and disassembled at any time called Tigon. Starbreeze were the ones who did the development. They haven't done anything except the Riddick mobile game since The Wheelman and his deal with Midway fell out but licenced games have really fallen out of favor and it's also nowhere near as easy as it used to be to make them.

Some studios and film makers are really into it and don't really want the game to be shitty. Someone brought up the King Kong game. Fun fact, Peter Jackson only signed the deal with Ubisoft as long as Micheal Ancel was the game director and the Beyond Good and Evil team made it. So it's kinda fucked up at the minute

Starbreeze is making a John Wick VR game. So probably no chance of seeing a new Riddick from them for a while, unfortunately.

Hi

Less Ennis based shit please. The mans a massive cuck

God I loved that game. It did a great job of juggling what you were doing around so it always felt fresh. Also gave us the 3rd movie so hurray for that.

Wish it didn't have those home stretch issues. Would have been 10/10 if it had just a little more time and that parade level.

Speaking of which

It follows it's own ruleset that is entirely specific to that game, the RNG is pretty high and grinding barely helps (your MBD ain't gonna do shit against a BEUD or megamorphed gate guardian), basically the only workable strategies involve fitting your deck with a bunch of 2000+ ATK or DEF (you can trick the AI into suicide) or their fusion material (and fusion doesn't work like you would think but based on the elemental attribute and stats on what you fuse minus a few strange ones that involve fusing traps or magic with monsters or magics with each other) then getting as much equips as possible for those (the two best choices are THTD because it's easy to get despite it's good stats and mystical elf because it's easy to get equips for on top of being easy to get, after that you also have ushi-oni and a bunch of female dark spellcaster, and yes you can stack equips on the same monster as high as you want) and maybe a bunch of traps to help with specific situations.

Then on top of that you actually need to think your strategy because even with the perfect setup the game will still destroy you.

Nothing can prepare you to face the final 6 though.

It's less yu gi oh and more Pokemon the card game. Each turn you can only place one card face down, doesn't matter if it's a spell/trap(which are very scarce anyways) or a monster. Most of your basic cards are weak as fuck, and the only way you can get decent monsters out is if you fuse them(which works nothing like how it does in the tv show or the genuine card game) or if you grind out some good cards, but that takes EONS since you get shit for DP or star chips or whatever the currency was, and the main game doesn't let you grind too much before setting you up with a series of unwinnable duels.

Fuck you nigga you just reminded me of how I never passed those monstrosities

I know, I actually bought a physical copy

fucking 5-install DRM bullshit on it too

the pirated ver was pretty hilarious even though I think game changing anti-piracy is cancer
candle crawlers had 20x the hp
wrangling gargoyles instantly killed you and NPCs
boson darts didn't work so stay puft was invincible and marshmallow creeps were near impossible to kill

It makes me sad no one posted this yet

I suppose it might not be a licensed game in the classical sense of one made specifically for the film at the time of release (or near to it) but it was fucking brilliant.

I think it'd get a lot more recognition if it were ported to PC at some point simply because those who have watched the film are unlikely to own a console (or have owned one when the game came out).

Got this on the PC and played the hell out of it. The show had gone to shit by the time of its release, so beating up the characters in-game was like taking out my rage on Al Jean.

Fucking love that game. Played it with my brother on the gamecube. We could never finish the last mission without using the car honk jump cheat.

This is based off of the Tarkovsky movie, right? Does that technically make it a licensed game?

Stop the mustard rice madness that they are cult in movies/music/books
These days PC users are the most casual and ignorant around
BUT back in 2005 it was the other way around, still when that game came around the 360 was already out i think, so only the fans bought it, that is nobody
It still is a cult hit but not that obscure, it gets screen time from time to time

These two right there. Return of the King also, but for some reason I liked it way less than Two Towers

My nigga.

Yeah but the movie is based on a book

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed to hear it was so mediocre. I couldn't be assed to watch the show, but the porn is pretty good. Korra is a qt fit dark-skin (but not nigger-tier) semen demon

It was some pretty good shit. I need to pick it up for my PS2 so I can play it again. Those giant bugs and the ruins in general were pretty fucking rad.

Do elaborate. I took one look at this and thought it looked like shit, but, I've never given it a serious try either. Mind telling about it?

Fuck yes. Can we agree that Fellowship of the Ring was fucking shit though?

Also, I enjoyed Return of the King a bit more than Two Towers. The level where you go into the cavern under Dwimorberg where Aragorn calls upon the Dead Men Dunharrow was a fun level. I have some nice memories of running through that level co-op with my older brother, same for the Black Gate level. Once we cleared, quite literally, every enemy on that level's map just for shits n' giggles, since his Legolas and my Gimli were so buffed up from playing so much. I remember him telling me that the final boss fight with Gollum was hard as fuck, it took him weeks to beat Gollum granted, we were both much younger then. He was about mid-way through high school, and he has five years on me to boot.

Two Towers wasn't bad by any means though.

Don't even bother watching the show. The only reason I got a kick out of it was Amon and Kuvira.

Amon was a villain that actually made sense and Kuvira kicked Korra's ass on many occasions.

Van Helsing is basically Castlevania: The Movie. Just pretend that Hugh Jackman is playing Simon Blemont and he's using a whip.

Most games based on Batman turn out good.

...
