There are fakes, but Im pretty sure not all of them are. People find it hard to group up, so these types of things are generally a "lone wolf" who feels desperate to do something, anything rather than nothing. Ive seen it suggested by a couple of well put together game theory arguments that right wing actions will likely be committed largely in part by single people, or small groups. It was in that thread about Weatherman I believe, where it was pointed out the far right has no institutions, which the left does.
