There's a fine line between giving African kingdoms and civilizations their proper historical recognition and outright fabricating achievements that these civilizations did not accomplish.

They were plenty of African kingdoms throughout that continent's history. Not counting Egypt, you have Mali, Benin, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and a few others.

Sure, they couldn't hold a candle to any European or Asian kingdom, and were even less advanced in many ways than Mayans, Aztecs and Incas, but they had some interesting and curious inventions like the Zulu leaf-bladed spear and the Benin lost-wax method for creating iron statues.
