Capitalism is just an organization of labor, where one person gets the majority of money off of other peoples work, and has all the say in how the business is run. The workers are not greedy here, but the capitalist is. It is also anti meritocratic because the person who usually own factories is from a rich family to begin with.

Greed is originally a defense mechanism to aid human survival, but it is exacerbated in capitalism, to the point where the people with the most potential to fulfill their greed are the homeless bums. Because of the current system, they cannot achieve their taught desires, let alone their intangible ones. While it has succeeded in bringing in such an excess amount commodities, it is also the reason it will collapse in upon itself.

When workers own the means of production, there will be no reason for slacking off unless everything becomes automated, and scarcity is removed, rendering money completely obsolete. We continue to find new ways of organizing our society, while we keep finding ways to aid our survival. The elimination of scarcity is the ultimate fulfillment of greed. Capitalism isn't 'evil', it's just becoming out of date. Such is human nature. :^)

Either way, unlimited energy is bad for business, and thus renders business obsolete. Also, it wouldn't be in one state, let alone their being states to begin with, but that may require some revolutions of course.

Also, have you seen the amounts of automation and increasing amounts of production? The great thing about capitalism is the sheer amount of production and surplus of goods, but it's also the same reason that it won't be around forever. There are contradictions in the way things are run, and the more automation, the more likely there is a falling rate of profit, not to mention job loss in fields of manufacturing.

Obviously, a free market, as long as we have scarcity, may be the best way allocate these limited resources, just not a capitalist one, in the meantime. See: mutualism and market socialism.

This "tabula rasa" theory would predict that humans, raised in a society of deplorable conditions where suicide is perpetuated in the media as a value etc. would likely have a higher suicide rate (as those people already predisposed to suicide remove themselves), but you're only going to cut off that end of the bell curve of "willingness to kill one's self." That bell curve can be expressed differently in different environments (e.g. the most predisposed to kill themselves will be more or less likely to act on their predilections), but you can't magically alter the predispositions; if you actually wanted to alter peoples' predispositions towards true altruism (sacrificing happiness for others), death, and other fundamental aspects like that, you'd need to have an intense breeding program for who knows how longs, dozens of generations, and yes altruism does have a heritable component link related reproductive-revolution.com/comt-altruism.pdf, meaning if you're designing a system reliant upon that motive you're going to have more success with populations with a greater frequency of those alleles that predispose individuals towards altruism.

We know that the variation we see in altruism, personality, aggressiveness, and intelligence are (to varying degrees) due to genetic variation.
