Can we have a Paper Mario thread?

Let's enjoy the old games, and forget that the series is dead with Nintendo raping its corpse.

best girl

(yeah, I know, still a girl to me)

I want an actual RPG like the first 2.

What was your favourite area/stage?

Mine was shy guy's toybox. I loved its whimsical decor.

Is there any on-model Toadette porn? All the shit where she's just a human in a hat kills me.

We all do, user. We all do.

I have a fondness of the Excess Express, I suppose.

First time through, it was probably one of the ones from TTYD with very little combat. I think Tubba Blubba's chapter is my favorite, though. I avoided you the whole chapter and now I'm going to push your shit in. Bow's power trivializes the final fight with him, but I wasn't clever enough as a kid to notice.

I really don't understand how the fuck could they fuck the series so badly. I mean shit it's so fucking simple, all a good PM game needs is
That's fucking it

Shy guy's toybox is also when the difficulty and complexity noticeably amps up.

I really like the Shiver Region. Very nice music throughout, especially in Crystal Palace when the music has a very melancholy, forlorn tone to it and, when you fight the Crystal King, its theme is used for a particularly epic piece.

I could understand if they handed it off to people who couldn't pull it off, but instead it's been gutted. It's as much of a disgrace, but also unexpected. Some AA dev should try making a Paper Mario-ish RPG on a handheld sometime. The market exists.

After replaying PM1 just recently, I can confirm that this is the actual best girl.

Other pic related.

It's because they put a bunch of new guys on for sticker star.

And they were making something similar to TTYD, but then they added the sticker shit, and when they showed it to Miyamoto, he said it looked too similar to TTYD, so they scrapped everything except for the sticker mechanic

Apparently the higher-ups don't like the companions, which changes the entire PM dynamic.

Only time NoA did something right. Gays should stay out of children's games.

Doopless made the forth stage my favorite.

that's what I thought.

Tippi is best girl.

You got any more of that -8?
Where's he posting his stuff anyways?

No more -8 from me, sorry

He posts new shit at my8.tumblr.com

Can anyone even think of something Miyamoto has contributed to the industry since Pikmin (15 years ago)? He made some cool shit before Y2K. It'd be nice if he would fuck off now.

For the first game probably the island area, soley because this fucking boss got me as a kid
I loved it.

Twilight Town and Glitz Pit for TTYD

Pikmin 2 and 3 were alright. 3 was pretty barebones compared to the first two though.

Also, he was the one that okay-ed Splatoon, surprisingly.

I played Paper Jam up to the boss-rush at the end before I realized I wasn't having fun shortly after its release and only today brought myself to install it again, restore my save and finish it. Sticker Star elements were primarily to blame, ie bland NSMB locations and a fucking Wiggler being the only non-Toad NPC you could interact with regularly.

The final boss was disappointingly easy (especially in comparison to the other bosses typically having rather satisfactory difficulty, I remember even dying to King Bob-Omb because I wasn't careful enough) and its only upside was that I wasn't expecting it to flat-out counter Paper Mario's bros. attacks. Final boss music was forgettable (I forgot large portions of its melody even while still actively playing the game) and it even went for the same visual effect of 3D-creature-in-a-2D-world that Sticker Star's boss did.

Seeing Miyamoto, Tanabe and Tezuka credited as supervisors made me die a little inside.

I still wonder how sex would actually work with Paper Peach.

Like, would she appear 2D at all times, from all angles, but still feel normal otherwise?

This of it as as sticking your dick in a pop up book.

You're welcome.

It's well established that having sex with Paper characters is not a good idea, though.

How can a paper being suffer or paper cuts?

*of

For some reason, as a kid in PM1, the one sub-mission where Peach sneaks out and goes on a game show and they "force her to play it or else" got me really aroused.

I'm guessing you had a very over-active, vivid imagination

You have no idea how much I jerked it to the part in PM2 where you run around invisible and naked through the base. This is my fetish

gross

Would be normal if you were "paper" too.
I still by the paper aesthetic being nothing more than aesthetic, at least for the characters in the series.
I don't give a fuck about where they say after TTYD

What.

I mean I don't want to derail this thread into fetish discussion or anything but I would play the shit out of a stealth game where you traverse busy hallways while nude.

There's a part in TTYD where Peach has to make an invisibility potion so she can sneak around the X-Naut base. However, it only changes her body, and not clothes, so she has to strip nude.

shit, meant for

I would play a 3D game where you're an invisible guy who fucks random people.

Breaking into their home and having sex with them.

I know, but how would you even masturbate to a fucking video game.

She's naked, yes.

But INVISIBLE.

You're jerking it air.

Imagination, son

Fuck if I know. Fetishes are strange things 95% of the time, and only those with the fetishes MIGHT understand them.

Give me the name of the artist, I want to blindly throw my next paycheck at him for more Peach & Paper Peach lewds.

Gray_Impact

I think his tumblr is grayimpaction

Mother FUCKER, every fucking time I want to buy lewd art they're always fucking busy

I can't seem to get anything by the guy. Mind handing me a link by chance?

greyimpaction.tumblr.com/

I found it by using something other than Google. Thanks though.

That's kind of what the South Park RPGs are doing.

Man, I'm really hoping the next one is a bit better. There was a lot wrong with Stick of Truth. I wanted to love it, but I came away distinctly underwhelmed.

Is Obsidian still making the next or is it Ubisoft? Either way I'm pretty worried about it.

Ubisoft, but not just that, Ubisoft san francisco

Though ultimately Trey and Matt are the ones running the project, so you're not going to see "problematic" shit removed.

Actually, it was confirmed that yes, all the times she was called a dude was just an insult

Also, how hard would it be to make our own Paper Mario game?

Failing that, what about a game in a similar style to Paper Mario? Maybe not with paper, but, like, most of the other gameplay wise. Maybe make it a better platformer too.

Anybody like Super Paper Mario?
It was a great game on its own, and I liked the artstyle of Flipside.
It's a shame people never talk about it because it was pretty damn good, not TTYD good, but pretty good.

...

I resented it for years because it's not an RPG. Today I would probably play it if I ran across it for cheap, but I wouldn't seek it out. Everything I've heard from friends has been very mediocre.

Super Paper Mario was good it just had a bunch of boring parts and it wasn't an RPG. A lot of people are looking back on it pretty fondly though now that the last few games have come out. Like

...

There isn't nearly enough porn of the partners.
especially gombella

Context for that last image?

There isn't enough porn of paper Peach

Apparently she said something about Color Splash looking great and wishing she had worked on it or something

And here's what the japs thought of Color Splash

So some random lady like the trailer what does this have to do with anything?

...

So how is Paper Jam?

Seems like it was forgotten rather than shat on like Sticker Star and the new one, so I figure it's probably on par with Super, the other forgotten Paper Mario game?

I'm so sorry, user.

It can be summed up pretty accurately as "Mario & Luigi: Sticker Star".

Definitely the weakest game in the series.

All I heard about was the stuff in this post

The impression I get is that it's another okay-ish Mario and Luigi game. Seems to me that they went downhill after Superstar Saga, but then again I've only played that and Bowser's Inside Story, and people generally seem to love BIS. I appreciated the combat enhancements, but the rest of the game felt pretty bland compared to SS and I hated the compulsory minigames. So I dunno. I don't feel particularly compelled to give Paper Jam a try.

I'd sooner you play Dream Team than Paper Jam since PJ offers absolutely nothing that DT doesn't.

Dream Team's 40 hours long or so and it's a great ride throughout, people complain about constant tutorials but I honestly never noticed them.

There was nothing really bad about Dream Team but I remember pretty much nothing about that game. It was so bland still fucking leagues ahead of Sticker Star though.

the mini-games were without-a-doubt the worst aspect of BIS

Going away from it I can still remember quite a lot of it, primarily the music and areas that weren't that godforsaken desert along with dream and giant battles. The game that made polka work for a boss theme!

I personally enjoyed it immensely, almost as much as Thousand-Year Door.

Yes, it dropped most of the true RPG elements gameplay-wise, but it was still fun to play through, and the narrative and design was still at peak strength, not like the simplistic throwbacks coming out this decade.

Dimentio remains my absolute favorite Mario antagonist.

Tell me what must be done to return the Paper Mario series to its original charm and glory Holla Forums. I would perform any dark rite imaginable without hesitation or regret on that promise alone.

Nowadays it seems like Miyamoto having little to no input on outside RPGs is what's best for them, along with letting Tanabe not being allowed anywhere near Paper Mario

...

Find whoever was most responsible for Sticker Star: Tanabe, Miyamoto, whoever, and kill them.

It's the only way.

I seriously cannot stop seeing those cheeks as eyes, they're absolutely terrible.

You're on the money there, BIS was nothing to write home about and the game world was laughably small and completely devoid of wonder or surprise.

It's just that the combat is so good that it basically elevated the entire package to a higher standard. The only thing they still didn't get is how to make all the Bros moves permanently useful and not have layer moves simply make the others obsolete.

Oh boy let me tell you about Star Fox.

That interview about Sticker Star is still completely baffling. How they talk about how they set a new standard for Paper Mario while remarking that they were forced to restrict themselves creatively and Miyamotto saying a story isn't important. IN AN RPG.

I can't believe they took my favorite all time battle system and stripped it down to the most fucking bare bones state, even more than the original Paper Mario, and then called it the new fucking standard.

It's dead.

The franchise is completely fucking dead.

Holy shit, James?

I haven't spoken to that nigga in forever, I'm glad his YT is doing well.

I don't even remember the argument we had but he hates me now and refuses to talk to me

why are there are so many niggers these days starting their posts with this?
this is some reddit shit

don't ask "can we?" you little faggot bitch, just post the thread
nobody's gonna downvote your faggot ass you redditor homo redditfaggot redditcuck

But user, you're downvoting him right now.

I didn't check the email field since there's rarely if ever any cause to

you're pretty good

upvote 4 u

Translation please, I wanna see user is telling the truth

great

Face it, we're never getting stories and good partners / characters with personality ever again. All we will be getting is sticker garbage.

Thanks for reminding me I still need to finish TTYD. I put it down around the chapter with Bobbery and never picked it up again.
Then I've still got SMB RPG and Paper Mario 64 to get through.

...

We'll get some kind of indie paper mario like game in the future, kind of like how there are so many earthbound like games now

...

FUCK TANABE

FUCK SHIGGY

FUCK NINTENDO

FUCK YOU

KILL YOUR FUCKING SELF YOU CUNT
YOU'VE POISONED ME

...

I enjoyed it for what it was

It was good, especially in the dialogue and narrative. and it had post-game

obviously TTYD is better and so is the first because they are actual rpgs but i still enjoyed it.

And like the current earthbound clones, it'll be shit.

So everyone's getting mad with Miyamoto saying he didn't want a copy of TTYD, but apart from that how much of Sticker Star was his doing? Most of this interview suggests he just gave suggestions and said "I trust you know mario. What could possibly go wrong?"

Mine would probably be Keelhaul Key or The Underwhere/Overthere. Despite the game, I have a soft spot for Heaven/Hell motifs

cute girls with covered eyes does things to me

The thing is, most people after hearing this think if the devs never went to Miyamoto, then most of the damage could've been avoided. Mind you, we'd still have Sticker Shit, but we'd probably have some actual characters instead of 400 generic toads, an actual battle system, and partners.

thank you

Honestly I have a hard time believing that Miyamotto alone could have caused as much damage as what was done. I mean, the game suffered on pretty much every single end, with maybe the exception of music. Story, characters, gameplay, humor.

They must have had a meeting where they wrote on a board every good thing about the series and then worked to avoid every single one of those things.

I'm convinced that the original team has been largely disbanded and replaced with people who just want to get a game out the door.

Hell, the main Mario series suffered through that plus the NewSMB shit, and we had Yoshi's New Island which was pretty much that again.

The only reason Yoshi got somewhat redeemed was because Good Feel was in charge of Wooly World, but with how all the other associated teams are going I wonder how long until Good Feel also stops giving a shit.

Nah, let's have a Super Mario RPG thread instead.

Why exactly wasn't Luigi playable? Did they just think he would be too similar to Mario?

It was before Luigi's popularity explosion, when calling him "green Mario" really was appropriate.

just so the game could have a flaw i guess

I wish I was a kid still
Kill me

I think most of the humor came from NoA's localization, if I recall correctly? I might be totally wrong on this, so don't quote me.

t. Nutendoshills

bump

I don't believe that but Mario's special attacks were just Jump 1-3 and Fireball 1-3. I personally like Luigi having his small cameos in the RPG games excluding The Mario and Luigi games that focus on their teamwork in everything (which annoyed me among other things about the direction they went with Super Paper Mario). For Mario's first step into the RPG genre I find it probably a very good idea he got excluded completely and they went on to have Mario build a bond with the new Mallow and then Geno along with meeting non-party characters of unique flavor. How far they went with things that seemed very unfamiliar to Mario (to the point you might question if this was even planned to be a Mario game) is quite bizarre really but it did it's job to paint a grand new frontier and for that Luigi would only be a distraction (especially with everyone playing up THE Mario).

Ya think?

It hardly matters where the humor came from when there was the base decision to make Bowser not talk.

Seriously, there was an actual effort to remove all fun from the franchise. If you told me that any single person involved in this game with actual power actually played ANY previous Mario RPG I'd have to call y7ou fucking bullshiter, and that includes Miyamotto.

I think Miyamotto doesn't even know what an RPG is, given that he seems very confused and upset at the concept of a "story".

...

Holy shit, is that some Tobacco? I fucking love Tobacco and BMSR.

more!
