The last of us

What's the consensus on this game? I picked up the GOTY version last week and started a game on Grounded difficulty. I felt the game was punishing but fair and well balanced, with legitimately dangerous enemies. Died a bunch of times.

Got through the main game in around 17 hours, really enjoyed the experience. I hear a sequel is en route although fuck buying a PS4 just for that.

I really didn't like it. The story was obnoxious and the gameplay didn't feel intuitive at all. Controlling Joel felt like controlling the horse from Shadow of the Colossus, thought this may because I played the original PS3 version which runs at like 17fps or something.

Otherwords Ellie porn dump?

...

Three years ago I could convince myself I liked it, now I have trouble remembering the good about it.

It was around the time I was getting sick of have my character railroaded out of gameplay by cinematics and boy does no one work that bullshit harder than Naughty Dog.

Also I remember thinking at the time the melee combat being really visceral and crunchy but now I only seem to recall how clunky it was. And that's mostly the word I would use to describe the game, clunky, every action trying to seem cinematics and never letting the mechanics speak for themselves.

I don't think we played the same game. Controls were fine for what the game is. Framerate wasn't anything like 17fps …

The only way they could save the sequel is if they turn it into Mushroom Souls and have Ellie's pregnant ass rolling around dodging bosses.

It's shit.

Maybe it wasn't that low, but when the game first came I know it ran at

ps4 re-release

Its OK. Gets far too much praise outside of Holla Forums, but a bit too much hate inside. Its nothing remarkable.

It was really good, but it's definitely more cinematic tailored. It's got gameplay for sure and moderate replayability.

Playing on the Hardest Difficulty and doing Melee only was fun as fuck, and NO its not "press Square to win". 2 hits and you die, so you gotta be careful not to get swarmed

It's a mediocre third person shooter that features passable, but very simplistic, gameplay that serves as a fodder that the player slogs through in between set pieces and cut scenes. It receives too much praise, which has in turn spawns a hell of a lot of hatred.

It's a decent 6/10 game, but nowhere near a masterpiece. I enjoyed the multiplayer to some extent, but it has balance issues that need to be changed.

TLoU was pretty good, in my opinion. Wasn't as good a game as it showed at E3 which burns my ass but it was still ok.

The AI certainly isn't good, the graphics are sort of downgraded, and there are several other things to mention that I won't give a fuck about.

Point is that Naughty Dog actually did learn from the game and fixed their shit, as I've seen from Uncharted 4, so really I have nothing against it.

Dubs thread

It's okay, but overrated to all fuck. The story is where the game gets all it's praise, which baffles me because it's pretty much bog standard zombie fare. The Walking Dead Telltale game hit all of the same emotional beats and did them infinitely better.

The gameplay was a shadow of what they'd shown at E3, but still manages to be kind of tense during combat situations.

I appreciate the decision to make the movement and combat intentionally unwieldy, it gave fighting a layer of intensity that older survival horror games tended to have, and the game is very impressive visually, though that doesn't really count for much when you realize how linear it is.

Oh, yeah, fuck the SJW bullshit. These niggers pander to SJW types, and that's the only reason Ellie is implied to be a lesbian. At least the majority of the game is devoid of this shit, unless you count Bill being gay and the majority of the cast being women or non white, but I personally don't give a shit because the feminism is never shoved down your throat. It manages to do these things well enough, I suppose, because these elements aren't the forefront of any of these characters' existence.

I really liked, probably one the best of the decade. Look forward to seeing more from Druckmaan. Its just a very very well directed game, even if it doesn't really do anything new in terms of gameplay.

Seen to run at 30 when i played it. And i think i got it the first month or so that it came out.

Its a mediocre interactive movie just like every modern Naughty Dog game.

it was 20 on PS3 I believe
30 minimum on PS4 with HD graphics, with the option to set it to 60fps with PS3 graphics.

nice meme. Uncharted 4 has more gameplay than DooM 4 btw

I liked it, the gameplay was good and the story was alright in my opinion if you avoid the dlc. What made the game really fun to me though was the multiplayer though, other than that eh.

Great game, great combat, writing, direction

Besides the barely subliminated feminism, like the unecessary pedo plot, the game is pretty much flawless

Too bad uncharted is shit

wut

Well I enjoyed it but without even reading this thread I know you can't talk about this game without drawing a ton of heat from the Holla Forums guys crying about muh degeneracy and also the bitterness from the longtime Naughty Dog guys that wish they were still doing Crash Bandicoot.

Gameplay was okay, not great. Felt like a floatier Resident Evil 4. The technology in play was impressive and Ellie was fairly endearing, her VA was good. She's Chrissy Seaver from Growing Pains if you can believe it.

I'll say that the old PS3 phat can barely handle it. Literally I won't try and play this game with that system in a room that's not air conditioned, the fucking groaning when enemies appear or you throw a molotov is so horrible that it scares me and makes me think it's going to kill my system.

Yeah this is part of what I was talking. Joel is SO fucking heavy, and while that leads to a satisfying and believable crunch when you nail someone in the head with a 2x4, there's none of the snap and accuracy you expect when you pull your gun like Leon has in RE4. I will say that that segment where you control Ellie she legitimately feels more nimble than Joel even though I'm not sure whether she's actually any quicker or more responsive.

I recognized her as Terra from Teen Titans

I enjoyed it well enough tho i only played the base game i didnt play the SJW interracial under-age lesbians scenario.

Im sorry this board is for video games. maybe Holla Forums might be more your style.

nice meme. have some gameplay

It's a solid 8 in my book, but the AI is fucking dumb.
And no, I didn't play the degenerate DLC.

I love the online multiplayer. For a console shooter, the multiplayer is fucking great and I've defended it as the only saving grace of this game.

The story, the part that dumbshit journalists gushed over for months, it's just mediocre. It's plain, bland, average. It tries to hit you in the feefee's and the daddy/daughter dynamic worked great for all these millennials bloggers that grew up without fathers. If you completely ignore all hype, drama, etc. surrounding the game then the story isn't offensive and you can easily manage a playthrough. It has extreme glaring flaws that have been gone over Ad nauseam and since you don't know shit about shit about this game I can't imagine you having been around for more than 6 months.

You mean the same 'gameplay' i could get from any 3rd person 'stealth' game released around the same time?

Nice goalpost moving.

...

Nice shot.

Highly overrated piece of shit.
Gameplay is okay, nothing special nothing terrible.
Story is generic trite. For a game that was praised for its story to just be generic zombie story was upsetting.

Naughty Dog should be focusing on 3d platformers you fucking homo

If you think anything else you literally have zero fucking taste and should suck a fucking shotgun

Such as?? Tomb Raider is probably the closest I can think of.

Got it for 10 bucks two years ago
An hour into it I was still being pushed through corridors with scripted sequences
Story was cringe worthy and not interactive at all
Dropped it and never played since

So going around, sneaking, and doing cinematic takedowns? Why dont i just play mgs at that point, atleast that story has some camp to it.

I'm genuinely curious as to why you think that.
I've never played uncharted because I hate corridors, setpieces and uninteresting, linear storylines

He's just a shill user, doom 4 has gameplay, as shit as it is, but uncharted 4 does not have more gameplay than doomed.

have you played either games/series?

TLOU is NOTHING like MGS

I think that cause I finished both this week. Uncharted 4 fixes all the problems the series ever had

confirmed for shit taste

About as mediocre as a movie gets before entering shit territory right off the bat, but quite shit when the aftertaste hits you.

It's ok, definitely overhyped by normalfags.

The multiplayer was cool, I don't remember playing something so brutal in a while.

Talking about it, what are some good brutal multiplayer games? And I don't mean cartoony brutal, I mean painfully brutal.

Only one I can remember now is No More Room In Hell where every bullet counts and suicide is literally a game mechanic.

Everyone in this thread needs to go back to reddit. including me

there was a decent game hidden under the pile of horseshit "cinematic" walking and talking, grabbing ladders, and other general fucking padding

i liked the shoot outs with bandits, it was fun and every hit landed was extremely satisfying, but then they'd take you out of the fun and force you to walk slowly and listen to ellie talk. Ellie is a fucking terrible unlikable piece of shit character that is so forced down your god damn throat that your real gag reflex might fucking kick in.

they had the groundwork for a real solid survival/action game because the resource management was pretty clever, like making molotovs and first aid packs use the same materials. the enemy AI had some semblance of self perseverance too at times

BUT GOTTA TELL MUH STORY
MUH STORY ABOUT FUCKIN NOTHING, ONLY INTERESTING PARTS ARE WHEN JOEL IS ANGRY

naughty dog riding on this games success completely butchered uncharted 4 and riddled that with their "storytelling" too when i just wanted to see some crazy action movie bullshit

incredibly average game.

I'm curious user, what do YOU think is a good game?

Honestly looks more fun than Uncharted, and I played all three of those. Although I never, ever would have played them or bought them if the collection hadn't come bundled with my PS4.

tLoU looks like ever other 3rd person action game. I guess that is why people love it so much.

more like exacerbated all the problems. thought the climbing was easy and boring in the previous games? well there's even more of that now, and more cutscenes, and more padding so you don't miss any of lines that they couldn't fit into the cutscenes

liked the set pieces? well there's only one now. and no supernatural elements. writing is completely spineless too. the game is called a fucking "thiefs end" but nothing fucking ends, no one but the bad guy fucking dies and the other bad guy(woman) literally just runs away from the final conflict without being mentioned

uncharted 4 is bullshit man, and i really really enjoyed uncharted 1-3 even if they were pretty damn casual

Painkiller
Demons souls
Katamari
Yakuza
Smt strange journey

Yeah, it feels like they were originally making a pretty good game, then the staff of the management or something changed and the new people destroyed it's potential. I even get the feeling that the story was originally supposed to go in different direction, but one of the higher-ups changed things around halfway through.
