What's the consensus on this game? I picked up the GOTY version last week and started a game on Grounded difficulty. I felt the game was punishing but fair and well balanced, with legitimately dangerous enemies. Died a bunch of times.
Got through the main game in around 17 hours, really enjoyed the experience. I hear a sequel is en route although fuck buying a PS4 just for that.
I really didn't like it. The story was obnoxious and the gameplay didn't feel intuitive at all. Controlling Joel felt like controlling the horse from Shadow of the Colossus, thought this may because I played the original PS3 version which runs at like 17fps or something.

Three years ago I could convince myself I liked it, now I have trouble remembering the good about it.
It was around the time I was getting sick of have my character railroaded out of gameplay by cinematics and boy does no one work that bullshit harder than Naughty Dog.
Also I remember thinking at the time the melee combat being really visceral and crunchy but now I only seem to recall how clunky it was. And that's mostly the word I would use to describe the game, clunky, every action trying to seem cinematics and never letting the mechanics speak for themselves.

I don't think we played the same game. Controls were fine for what the game is. Framerate wasn't anything like 17fps …

The only way they could save the sequel is if they turn it into Mushroom Souls and have Ellie's pregnant ass rolling around dodging bosses.

Maybe it wasn't that low, but when the game first came I know it ran at
