Microsoft will never be as embarrassing as it was with the Kinect. To me, Sony is as boring as ever. Nintendo is an empty shell of it's former self, actively destroying the franchises that made it stand out, one by one, while shoveling out amiibos, dlc and mobile apps.

It's pretty depressing.

There never has been a real hype moment for E3, that is the point of watching it and laughing at it.

I think they're going for a "New way to play" because that's all consoles are good for nowadays. You can't go for power, because you won't outdo a custom built PC. A console's other advantage is it's standardized controls, which allow Vita games to use dual touchpads, or 3DS games to use two screens. I bet they're trying to find a way to keep the NX relevant by making it do something interesting, and it'll be used well by a few games and horribly by everything else.

I'd be interested if they brought back the Power Glove, or they made something like the HTC Vive's controllers.

I used to really want to go to E3 when I was little. It's not such an exciting prospect anymore…

That actually makes sense, still seems like a stupid move due to how much hype they will have to generate in a short amount of time if they stick to releasing the NX next year. E3 can be summed up as

I don't recall it ever being this bad, publishers and large scale developers have always been corrupt. Still though, these past few years have really been incredible.

The thing i don't get is, there's no indication that anything is getting better. Scandal after scandal, bad release after another. EA, Ubisoft, Activision. The Division was an unmediated disaster, so was AssCreed, Watch Dogs, every fucking Ubisoft release these past few years has been a complete and total clusterfuck of bugs and problems. Yet people still buy it. They just won't die.

None of these abominations of gaming will. It's why I've ignored modern gaming and went into emulation.

If anything E3 will further segment that good gaming is effectively dead.

Nintendo doesn't care about games. It cares about sales and they want to repeat the Wii trend. Remember that E3? They want that again.

So to create a new trend they are capitalizing on an old idea….one done first by NEC with the TurboExpress.

You will have a console and a tablet again like the WiiU, but the tablet will be housing most of the power. Games will be playable on your TV and on the go. The digital market makes this work even smoother, but it is also why there will be a cartridge system again.

Plug the cartridge into the console for home play or the tablet for road play. They are looking into storage options with the tablet (possibly memory cards again) and they are going to sell it hard with a retro vibe.

It will also interact with online markets (android) for apps, but they also want to expand the e-shop to create a greater marketplace that hopefully will replace the android market scene.

Here's where Nintendo really wants to expand. By creating a new portable game system that links into the new home system. Take your games home and play them on the TV. Over time new portable consoles can be released that replace the home one bringing more power to the game without replacing the base console (which only acts as a server interfacing the TV with the portable and increasing battery life because of the power switch to the base).

I just want another gamecube. Give me a decently powerful console with a varied library of solid games from different nintendo IPs, and no fucking gimmicks.
