Do you use Lockdown much for the TR MAX? I like the idea and it's fun as fuck to anchor down somewhere but i'm not sure if it's really that useful compared to the extra mobility you get from the charge.

also, to all you new TR and NC, if you are up against a VS vortex max, don't engage at long range combat. ever. he will wreck your shit, and does it with pinpoint accuracy. just evade them, get cover, and flank him.
also, if up against a magrider, expect them to pop up everywhere and outflank you as soon as you don't have line of sight anymore. situational awareness is much more demanding when fighting the VS.

I go with one of each, you'll tear through infantry at close and medium range while spewing an unending stream of boolets, even while reloading, which is great for suppression when it takes a fucking minute before actually having to stop to reload both guns for all of 3 seconds. I've cleared out more than a few rooms of infantry that way, and it's great for suppression. Though it's not effective against other MAX units.

Honestly I haven't seen the lockdown used efficiently, and standing perfectly still is an invitation to get wrek'd

lockdown is usefull when defending a highly contested building, given you have engie(s) backing you up. have a table in front of you, face the entry, and it's like shooting fish in a barrel. behind the table is usually too far for c4 fu, and if you just keep the fire going, any heavy who even tries to aim will pepsi before firing precisely or at all.
i use it with my mercies to rain terror from a distance for a short while, and then just quickly move to another point to do the same. If someone tries to rocket you, just undeploy and move, it's pretty fast and they won't expect it. from experience, that last one is pretty powerful, since it won't allow infantry to move freely all because of one max. from both VS and TR experience, you can put huge pressure on enemy infantry that way.

the problem with lockdown i think is that people tend to use it for too long, in wrong situations, or generally don't pay any attention.

you capture bases by holding the control points until the timer's done and having a lot of people is usually a pretty big advantage, i don't know how PHX drops the ball so hard.

the only way I ever win tank vs tank is if I ambush an enemy tank and get in a few back shots, or have a gunner on my missile pod
too slow to dodge, front armour only gives 5% defence and the magrider can literally fly right over you and blow you from the back

If you want to be cheap and squishy, you want a Harasser. You literally never run out of ressources if you play smart.

Lightnings are more of a support vehicle. You either use them for escorting sundies or mass armor attacks. A single lightning is not a real threat to anyone but another lighning, from my experience anyway.

If you're going to try to join our TR outfit, when you apply, just put something in the application to show that you're not just some random shitter, even if all you do is put a v at the end of the default message. We've had a few random shitters try to join, which is the entire reason we stopped having the outfit be completely open.

Don't go anti tank with lightning, you will always lose to the bigger tanks and there's probably going to be other things firing at you when fighting other lightnings. Lightnings are for anti infantry.

Is the Skyguard good?

From free trials I figured out that it's good for a few minutes, before the enemy stops buying air vehicles and all you aim at is at infantry, other lightnings and sunderers.

Are snipers even worth it for TR?

yeah they are, if you want a decent sniper rifle get the M77-B. its cheap but you drop targets in 2 hits, in one hit if you get a headshot. get the Straight-pull Bolt for it though.

I like the AMR but you'll get rekt at short ranges.

i went for the TMG-50, its better at range than all TR LMG's.

Dual mutilators are good, but Mutilator + Mercy is better. Why? You can literally never stop shooting. The Mercy runs out of ammo faster, so while you're reloading it the mutilator is still shooting. Because of this you can continue firing without even needing to stop for one second. The Mercy also gives you better range. Just make sure you don't get the extended mags upgrade on it.

One hour later, the zerg was done and I had almost 40 vehicles kills, as had most of my squaddies.
That's how I learned about how a hull-down formation can stop god.

Well it's good for what it does, anti air. If you have the certs for it use 2 different loadouts and use the right one depending on the circumstances.

When was the last time you were in a Three-Way firefight?

This needs to be played before every battle in platoon chat.

Your faction will no longer instantly win ranged fights by default because of more accurate guns and since you will be fighting the Vanu you need to play smart and use vehicles more to make up for your infantry being less effective at range. You actually have to consider things like recoil and bullet drop now and your main battle tank can no longer go over any terrain and dodge shots effortlessly. I hear the scythe tends to manuver a lot better too so you might have more trouble in the air now.

On the bright side you will probably dominate in biolabs with machine guns that mow down enemies in close range, you still have to watch out for NC shotguns but the Vanu are not as annoying at close range as they are at mid or long range. You will also enjoy camaderie with your brave brothers and sisters who fight for order, unity and the good of all.

The highest DPS only applies if your target is absolutely still and you are already anchored by the time he comes around. Anchoring isn't instant.

The only time this theoretical situation happens is during long range fights over bridges, at which point most enemy tanks just hide behind cover and repair themselves.

Then the prowler has to land every shot and hope the enemy doesn't maneuver the shots or use their shield.

Anchoring is useful for burster MAXes

I actually tried healing while mounted like that, for some reason on harassers it seems like they repair slower, and only get 2 xp for healing but when i am off of it i get the normal boosted 10 xp.
it was probably patched out and TR infiltrators can't use C4 or tank mines anyway

When the Harasser was first released it was better than any MBT. Between its speed, armor (which was higher than it is now), composite armor (which offered higher damage reduction), and ability to be repaired from the rumble seat while moving, it simply replaced the MBTs. They nerfed all those things I listed above, including any repairs it receives from the rumble seat.

Might still be able to ackbar with a quad, but for those resources, and the fact that you would need a vehicle station anyway, you'd usually be better off just getting a harasser or a lightning.

This isnt a game where you really specialize, having a all round cast of certed out classes/vehicles is what the game is made for. all classes ae situational and you will find yourself switching between them depending on what is going on around you.

Applying the above, infiltrator becomes even more specalized, but if you want to snek cert a flash for invis and grenade launcher and piss people off.

the NS-44 Commissioner and the NS-357 Underboss are solid choices. for long range sniping the M77-B is e very good upgrade from the standard TR sniper rifle for only just 350 certs, add a Straight-pull Bolt for 100 certs and you're good to go for sniping. if you got enough money for it you really want to get the M77-B. if you want to go for CQC you want to get one of off the SMG's, the PDW-16 Hailstorm is amazing for close up targets.

I play on the EU ceres server and at peak time it's regular to have almost 1000 people playing across one continent, you just have to deploy to the correct zone.

Mosquitoes suck compared to the other two ESFs, so they're pretty much relegated to back of the line, high angle support or gottagofast strafing runs with rocket pods. I remember someone said that all ESFs are almost exactly the same, but I'd like actual stat-based datamining to confirm that.

Honestly I think the Valkyrie's a bit useless. It's harder to hit than a Galaxy or Liberator, but it's quick to take down and has only one gun. The VLG Missile Launcher seems good, but I'd like to use it in practice if possible. Same goes for the rocket pods. I'll gun for you to help confirm if either are good.

The Hornets are nice, but you have to fly well enough to avoid getting hit while keeping the missiles on your target.

ive clocked about as much hours as you on combat flight sims, i can confirm that the PS2 air controls are absolute shit and the actual combat itself doesnt in any way resemble actual dogfighting as height advantage and energy/speed advantage do not matter one sigle bit.

It's advantage is its speed and maneuverability. It's a mini Gal that can maintain 200+ KPH at all times, change direction on a dime while maintaining that speed, and can heal off damage without having to land or wait for autorepair to kick in, all while shitting out squaddies. Rumble seats have no accuracy penalty, and getting two Heavies on a side keeps your DPS against vehicles way above what a Gal can do. It even has a quarter of the Gal's hitbox, making it a beast on Hossin where you can weave through trees at all times.

Daybreak should introduce stalling to the game. Additionally they need to double the cruising speed, halve the airbrake rate, and disable afterburners in hover mode. These are probably dumb ideas, but I'd like something better than what we have right now.

Valkyries are fun in Hossin. Maybe we should try filling them up for fighting Liberators and whatever else. If they could resupply passengers passively I'd be more encouraged to ride one.

in my opinion daybreak should rework all air units so that at least they get affected by physics instead of being able to climb to 600 metres alt in a 90 degree angle and just staying at maximum cruising speed when diving down from maximum alt. energy and altitude should play an actual role. the airbraking and hovering around eachother just makes for an retarted system wich is in no way fun.

it should also be alot easier to form a wing unit and see friendly air units in distress alot more easy since we cannot look around in the cockpit scouting for targets like in actual fighter planes, or they should just make the canopy entirely different with a decent head movement system.

The biggest problem with flying together in the air is that even with an expanded radar, it's impossible to tell where your own friendlies are or which friendlies to support the most. The amount of communication needed to compensate for all this is excessive for aircraft alone.
