Why is it that every other time Americans try to imitate JRPG's, it's just Steam bargain bin RPG maker stuff? Why can't any major American studios or American branches of Japanese companies imitate something like Persona or Final Fantasy with as much success as SoE imitated Seiken Densetsu, Chrono Trigger and other early Square & Enix titles of its day? What made Evermore different?
Loved Secret of Evermore as a kid

IIRC they made it on the same engine as SoM, regardless I don´t think it´s a masterpiece, just a really good merican game with japanese blessings
Reminder that secret of mana was made by a sand nigger
Legend of Mana was best mana game.
it had soul
Even if you don't feel the game is that great, you have to agree that the game combines Western and Japanese sensibilities of the time in a much cleaner fashion than most of any other attempt to do so so far.
Evermore sets a good precedent is what I'm saying and a lot of work went into the game. I remember reading the composer for the game's music in fact shut himself in for days or weeks trying to get everything just right.
They put effort into it.
Secret of Mana was still a great game user.
I like the internet bullshit about it having a darker script and being rewritten literally a few weeks before release.
the original commercial is kinda creepy
It was good, not crono FF6 good but yeah, it had soul and that snarky ted woosley flavour of the era. Man I miss those days
