So?

And?

I'm sure it's great.

Does it have Space Sluts??

Any good? The first one was pretty ok other than having to listen to totalfaggot.

Go viral your shitty incomplete game somewhere else, nigger.

I got the first game for free like 5 years ago, and in the time since then I've seen its existence be acknowledged maybe 3 times tops

My question is this:

Why? Why is there a sequel? I mean it wasn't bad, but it wasn't even really good either

Before I completely forgot about it, I was beginning to wonder if it even actually existed or if it was just a figment of my imagination

I know who SPAZ 1 is.

It's OP.

...

I enjoyed the first until it got a little bit too repetitive for me. I'd buy the second if I wasn't a neet

So this isn't the release, but some early access shit? What a waste.

Just bought it will give impressions in 30 minutes and by impressions I"ll tell if you if it's worth picking up or not

the campaign is supposedly finished, and the game's waiting for multiplayer and voicing

Nope it still isn't

Why would you buy Early Access shit?

Because I have a shit ton if disposable income.

>buying games

I have yet to find any qt's but I have found this cheeky fucker

i need webms and pics

...

I had fun with the first game, but what exactly is going to be unique about the sequel that justifies me paying for it? Earn your income, marketer.

Thanks Satan

It's not even fun. I played the shit out of the first one and loved it, but this is just awful.

Oh cool its 3d now, arent you just fighting a higher level ship or is everything a bulletsponge?

That is an equal level ship, and yes every big ship is bulletspongey as fuck. This is terrible compared to the first game.

Oh yeah, is AFF any good? Are people playing it?

Blegh, guess ill wait to see if they change it in the future

Why? The only reason anyone bought the first one is because they were jonesing for Star Control 2 clone.

Is it any good?

Did you enjoy Star Control 2?

Never played it

I enjoyed the first. It can be fairly grind-ey at the end. Choose a small universe size if you do try it.
They also put out modding tools, so that was a big factor for me, since I enjoy fucking around with stuff even more than playing games themselves.

Then fucking play it you moron, it's the best space game ever made. And you could download it in the time it takes you to read this post assuming you've got first world internet.

But user, that's not X3:TC

Go to hell autismo, the X games are dry cornmeal for eurotruck loving freaks and are only perceived as good because we haven't had a good space game in ages.

I don't really like the trend of keeping combat to a 2D plane, why even bother making the sequel 3D or even in space? If you're pushing me a 3D space game, I best be getting 6DOF.

Eh, its more I'd rather not waste time trying to get into it if its not good

But I guess you're right

You can't even into space, user.

the other day i was scavenging the minefield and i boarded this derelict spacecraft and there was- there was shit growing all over the walls! so i got back in my ship and got the hell out of there

Steam had better refund me. I've only got 3 hours and at least 2 of those were doing the long-as-fuck tutorial.
Also
Just what the fuck.

wait for release
I like it a lot, but I also play a ton with the bots

guns aren't nearly meaty enough, and there's still bugs galore
not sure about how alive it's going to stay though

You fucked up.

Still, I hope you get your refund because fuck this game.

I got the refund. I agree, fuck this game. I mean I'm torrenting the pirated version now just to see if it EVER gets better but I got to Threat Level 25 and it was still complete shit.

meant for
Fug.

wat

*honk*

You have shit taste

Hyperions are shit, though. Speed is everything for the player ship, and your fleet of UTs should be getting you enough money to blockade each gate leading to Xenon sectors with two Osakas which will shit on anything that enters.

I hate having first world internet: 6Mbps

Why is it that the baltic states of all fucking places in the world have the best internet?

Sage for auff taupec

Screenshots looks cool, but
I don't really know about the first one. How is the gameplay in both games?

Its actually cuckifornia internet

...

The first SPAZ was great, but if it's early access it's not 'out'. Why pay to be a beta tester for a game with no content.

So far, it has most of the content. As far as I can tell, what's missing is:
Voice Acting
Multiplayer
Bugfixing
Other than that, most features seem to be in.

I pirated the first one like two years ago and i remember it being pretty fun. This sequel looks absolutely nothing like the first one though. The first one was top down while this new one is 3d first of all. I haven't played this new one and won't while it's in early access, but the first one is fun for all of a couple of hours. It's kind of basic.

You can actually play it top-down, but that doesn't make it any less shit, in fact with the shitty controls and targeting, it makes it even worse.

Besides the gameplay being awful, the most disappointing loss is unique aesthetic the first game had going on. Now it's very generic and boring, and at a glance is largely indistinguishable from any other shitty indie space game.

What a horrible shame. I've been looking forward to this game for quite some time.

Don't forget the simplified leveling system where there are choices noone would ever pick.

I'll keep my shanties and rum, thank you verymuch

It's not a pretty SPAZ1 for better and worse. It actually has a map/faction system that plays a bit like mountainblade, which is fun.
Parts are a shit to get though, at least they are for me in the campaign so far.

Yeah, the parts system isn't as fun as changing out your turrets and modules, the strike craft are nearly useless and the leveling system is boring. At least ramming and the tractor beam can be fun.

Yeah I agree, Spaz1 designs, while not individually amazing, managed to be very iconic and distinct, and fit together well as a whole. Lots of games have problems with masses of units that just look like a blob together. Spaz1's biggest visual problem was the particle effects needed to be toned down so you could see what is happening in a battle. I did that with modding.

With the modules in Spaz2, form is determined by trying to get the most out of limited connection points. So all the motherships look similar. Little ships are too small and far away to really see. This is more of a problem because in the time since they started development, a shitton of similar looking games have been released. The effects are really nice and distinct though.

The biggest thing they need to fix right away is the movement. Controlling your ship in Spaz2 is total fucking ass. It's unfun and plain frustrating slowly bumping into shit and not being able to have any real control. Turning and maneuvering are a pain even when your pressing the right keys. Problem with the default setting is when you change your aim, that means you are now pressing the wrong keys. Switching to a small ship is a dumb thing to do. What a clusterfuck.

They also need to cut out a lot of the "lol so random XD" bits. Sparse bits of this kind of goofyness is great for breaking serious monotony, but cannot and should not ever carry a script unless your intent is to harm your audience. They should be going for grimdark, with some neon outlines.

I'm also not a huge fan of the complete randomization of parts and skills. I get it fits storywise what with everything being scavenged and reused over and over, but I like being able to build things the way I want. Skill bonuses in particular, since levels are far more rare than space station visits.

I like the shields/ramming mechanic, when you finally have the parts needed for basic maneuverability.
I also like what they've done with the factions and other captains.

One thing that needs to be addressed is power level. In Spaz1 you could fight above your level by playing well and exploiting weaknesses. Can't really do that right now, so fighting higher levels is more of a hard "nope" rather than a "maby".

Need some sort of way to store ship layouts.

"Early access" is always a mistake. I would ignore any of this until the official release.
They should have released a limited tech demo so people could fly and shoot some shit and point out the obvious flaws. As it stands now, they have a lot of cleaning up to do, but people are going to think "It's out" and review it as such. It's really not.

The devs seem like pretty good people, and have been much more responsive than others I've seen when it comes to fixing shit. I'm actually going to leave them feedback because I know they'll at least read it. I'm still holding out hope they'll make the necessary changes.

What is this faggotry? I just wanted SPAZ without the silly engine limitations.

They basically just said everyone posting negative reviews are idiots who didn't play enough or had the audacity to expect an actual SPAZ sequel. Fuck those British Columbian cunts.

Holy shit, really? Where?

There's a big notice when you launch the game saying "you can turn relative controls off", which fixes most people's problems with the movement.

I too would like sauce.

It's not a bad game IMO, if you went into it expecting what they advertised; spess shooting m&b with zombies and lots of particle effects.

Bandit hives suck ass though, I'm at threat 43 and can't shut down a t35 hive.

I did it at T34, git gud
Use your tractor beam nerd

Basically if you read between the lines and read some of the other posts you get a picture of how they think about criticism they disapprove of.

> Not Freespace 2

Depends on your preferences and what you're seeking in space games, of course.
