What followed is the age we known as "Derlethian Autism" where he wrote all that fanfiction retards read today, making people believe the "gods" are either good or evil in contrast of Lovecraft's vision (they're neither good nor evil, they're just too great to be concerned by such things); with such a simplistic view of Lovecraft's mind the newfags started taking Derleth seriously and since, you guessed it, Derleth was a socialist niggerfaggot his legion is also like him.
This, of course, rapes all the written stuff abut Nyarlathothep or Shug-Nigurath. Honestly I would prefer them to be the little girl rather than this disgusting mass of fluff they're now.

Film/Game remakes are often done under the excuse of "it'll be better because we have better technology now!".

Books don't have that excuse, the only technology that has developed for the written word is electronic text (kindles and what not) and there's no reason to not just import the original words of a book in that new format than try to remake it.

New 52 isn't the same. It's just more issues added onto the issues that came before. It's a semi-reboot in the same way Crisis on Infinite Earths, Zero Hour: A Crisis in Time, and Infinite Crisis were reboots. Basically, everything is still canon, except when it's not, and when it's not, there's an in-universe explanation (whatever history changing shit happened in the crisis). The only actual reboot DC has ever done was that period in the late '50s/early '60s when they rebooted The Manhunter from Mars, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, etc. But then Flash of Two Worlds retconned it into not being a reboot anymore.

Also, you know better than to pretend comics have ever been a respected form of literature. They're going through the exact same thing video games are going through, hipsters and sjws calling them "art" as a way to say only the ones they like are valid. The only difference is that comics, as a more niche market already decimated by economic factors, stood even less of a chance and is even more destroyed.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the shit in the textbooks you're talking about are just different interpretations and focuses, but not the actual facts themselves. That will happen in the study of history. As new facts are uncovered or new connections are drawn, interpretations may change. That's not to say many of those interpretations may not be stupid or outright wrong, but it's a perfectly valid academic process, and textbooks being updated is not the same as rewriting novels, even if many of those updates are garbage.
