Today was the last day to watch BR2049 in IMAX

...

Noooo

We did it reddit

I didnt see it

And?

I've never seen a movie in IMAX.

Ask me anything.

I don't care

26% more of the film is seen in IMAX.

Wooooow

Sometimes just going to see a movie alone in IMAX 3D in premium seats with a big-ass pepsi and popcorn bucket is the best thing ever.

Yes I agree too, paying all that money for the ultimate cinema experience is totally worth it!

Hey if you're a poorfag you can bring your own food and drink, reuse 3d glasses from a previous film and buy standard seats but steal the premiums and get the same experience.

Waiting for torrent. That's what I get for going to theatres once in a while

JUST

My showing was pretty shit too. About 3 separate times the theatre lights went on when the movie was running. Couldn't see a goddamn thing on the screen.

Something similar happened when I saw beauty and the beast the start was delayed and then they showed it in 3D when it was an IMAX 2D showing and I called the front desk and told them nobody here has 3D glasses this is a 2D showing, so I got free tickets, planned to use them to see blade runner but I havent gotten the chance to go to the theater :[

Man, that sucks. I've been lucky enough to have never run into any projector issues during my numerous trips to the cinema. Not that I go that often anymore. BR2049 was the first film I saw in cinemas in almost two years.

Nice discussion over there for hardcore fans.

Is that even a good thing?

This is the most jewish thing I've ever seen. So now you have to pay more money to see the whole frames?

Comedy done right.

The Jewish thing was making screen long and rectangular in the first place, cinemascope (2.4:1) ratio was created just to differentiate the cinema experience from the increasing TV presence in the 1950's. Most theaters now days are optimally configured for 2.40 screens, so either you target that format or waste a lot of screen real estate by pulling in the curtains to accommodate 1.85 presentations, the next most popular ratio.

The digital cameras used in production have different shooting modes, but BR2049 used the mode that captures the most data and the resulting picture has a 1.55 ratio in the sources files, they produced a 1.90 ratio version for IMAX, and a 2.40 ratio for wide release.

The 26% more screen in IMAX wasn't a 100% truthful statement either, while many of the exterior and landscape scenes used the opened up format with more picture information, the character closeup and interior scenes actually cut picture off from the side of the 2.40 version to create a tightly-centered shot on the characters.

4:3 is the best.

where do you live? cause if you are inany sort of suburban area you are missing out. rural and I would understand.

Many big cities don't even have real IMAX screens, most standard IMAX venues are considered to be of the LIeMAX variety. A real IMAX has a 1.43 ratio screen with steep stadium seating, fake IMAX has a 1.9 ratio screen and is a conversion of a standard theater.
