A good demonstration of this situation is the American Beer industry.

And while yeah, the majority of people will still drink one of the main brands, there is a healthy and growing section that caters to more discerning consumers who care about the product and the overall quality of beer in America has skyrocketed.

I see the same thing happening with video games, but it is being artificially directed by corrupt jurnos and the indy clique. Comics are only making about 40-60k issue 1 per series, a farcry from the 1-2 million copies sold in the 80s-90s. Both are only kept afloat by non comic media now like movies and tv dramas, and if we could see their finance statments of what makes them cash, its not the books.

This is basic tutorial stuff.
Fuzzy Select / Magic Wand to select what you want. You may have to play with the thresholds to get it perfect.
If that doesn't work or you want it to work better, you can use lasso select and a steady hand, or use a bunch of small straight lines to emulate one.
Once you've done that, you can cut + paste or invert the selection and delete everything else.

Krita is great for drawing, but it's shit for editing photos or design work.
