There's already a LOL thread up fam.

I preferred the NCR. They have cool uniforms and that's literally the only thing I considered before pledging allegiance to them

Legionfags are two steps towards full Bethescuck.
Legionfags > Enclavefags > people who like Fallout 3

Legionfags
Enclavefags
People who took FO3 seriously

Hello, is anyone else #hyped for the FO4 DLC Far Harbor?

I #preordered™ at Gamestop™!
Power to the players!

Why do you say that, because he operates a completely run-down, empty casino?

warhemorrhoids is overrated

so close to being a post-apocalyptic preacher simulator. Maybe one day I'll be able to scream bible verses at wastelanders while putting down bandits with Maria.

Hello?

While not a post apocalypse game, I think one of the Call of Juarez games has a dedicated bible verse key

HOUSE OR GO HOME

Also thanks for the caps, come back again soon.

Semper Invicta, baby

Why the fuck would you ever join a faction anyway?

In most games you come out of a vault having lived in a closed society all your life. Why would the concerns of non-vaulters actually fucking matter to you? Don't you have your own mission to attend to?
In fallout 2 you're looking for something to save your own village, why bother with anybody other than yourself then?

Ok but lets bust it down, in fallout New Vegas you're not a vault dweller and you work as a courier, right? Other than revenge on Benny why would you give a fuck about anything at all beyond that? To you, the factions should be old hat and in all reality, considering the couriers, you should probably be already in league with the NCR.
I guess the implication is that they're wholly private organization or something as a courier, but still, what the fuck does any of it matter?

and in the latest fallout you end up back at the problem of you just being a vault dweller. Again, why the fuck should you care?

Fallout games are written horribly. Great lore and world building but your character is given bullshit for motivations.

Yes Man is objectively the only correct choice

Just because you're an autist doesn't mean it's horrible written.

Covert shill thread.

The thing about the courier is that they're just a courier. All they do is deliver a message for money whether it be a letter to bashing the brains of Mr.House all over his once sterile clean tank.

Vegas is money, money motivates those captivated by it.

just because you used to live in a vault doesn't mean you have no stock whatsoever in whats going on in the world you are now forced to live in upon ejection from the vault, dipshit

go back to linear railroad shooters, friendo

If you are too apathetic to choose a side and find you own motivations, you might as well just lay back in that grave.

magaysians, 55555555555555555555

But shouldn't "role playing games" let you "role play" your characters however you like? You should be the one deducing your character's choices, personal motivation and shit. It's called agency

Which by the way besides "sandbox games" most RPGs will railroad your choices for you anyways

Because you're a Holla Forumstard.

Now ring-a-ding-ding, baby.

That's not the right gang that says "ring-a-ding-ding", the Chairmen said that, not the Kings.

I guess that makes sense but I've always found it a struggle after getting revenge on Benny.
Like that was the whole primary motivator and then that happens somewhere in the middle of the game and you're left with what?
You being the deciding factor over who will rule New Vegas? Come the fuck on.

By the time you're "forced to live in" that world after being ejected from the vault in these games its usually way far after you've already seen a bunch of shit and often have already been given options to choose a faction/side/or whatever in a bunch of scenarios.
Allegiance to groups that you really shouldn't be bothering with until after you are forced to go and stay go from the vault.

There still needs to be reasons as to why your character would want to do anything.
This is a big problem in games that try to give moral choices, actually. Often times the "evil" option is just there for the sake of being evil. Often times the good option is shitty and just there for the sake of "guess this what a hero would do" type of bullshit.
For example: what is the actual benefit of siding with the powder gangers in the first story mission of New Vegas? In story and/or in physical reward?
In story, you're essentially turning your back on an entire town that saw fit to not just let you fucking die in a shallow grave all to be in good standing with some shitty prison gang. Ok..so maybe they will help you out all over the place? Nope..they're mostly localized to their shitty prison.
Oh, so maybe you can at least get a bunch of good shit at the prison.
Nope, considered stealing from them anyway and their missions are retarded and you would have had far better physical reward just killing them off.
Its basically being an evil prick for the sake of being an evil prick. That's childish levels of writing and design.

Anyway, objectively speaking, if you were to deal with the politics of the New Vegas wastes the only real options are between Mr. House and NCR. Caesar's legion is a fucking retarded band of Holla Forums-tard tier try hards that have no plan or will to do anything other thatn suck at the teat of the resources already available. Once they take over they won't be interested in upkeep or rebuilding anything, just their shitty roleplay of a roman legion until their leader dies and they tear themselves apart.
Mr. House saved and then rebuilt New Vegas, he is actually more of a rightful owner to it but he's also a crazy man living in a jar. He seems only interested about the one city and no bigger picture really and would be more content just pushing out every other faction and lording over the city with his robots indefinitely. Basically another point of stagnation.
NCR is a faction at least trying to rebuild a larger government system. They seem to at least embody those old world values of the U.S. (I have to assume they're an actual republic) and are trying to push for something more stable and far reaching. They have what appears to be a volunteer army and seem very interested in actually rebuilding society and civilization.
Which honestly, as far into the future from the bombs dropping as these games seem to take place, everyone should be a lot farther along than they are.

There's edgy faggots who wanted to join of with those pieces of shit? Why am I not surprised?

Burn

I don't like them(on a personal level), but shout out to legion for being one of the more interesting to factions to "have" in the game.

Shout out to Goris for being from the most interesting tribe from fallout 2. The deathclaws from vault 13

On a side note.

Would be interesting to have the reverse.

Tribes emerge and follow your strength; bloodthirsty if you are, or diplomatic and gear oriented if you play traditionally.

Turns out that the more people revere/worship you, the more deified you become.

In the 3rd act, you ascend to fight the traitorous gods of old

A Holla Forumsirgin can dream

Ave true to Caesar.

The only better Faction is my own with my army of perfect immortal machines.

...

Hmmm.

It doesn't matter anyway, since House is objectively the only correct choice.
Other than conquering America with Father Elijah at the end of Dead Money.

Thinking about what you said again.

Fallout 1 and 2 give pretty good reasons to leave your vault/tribe.

Certain extinction.

The old interplay fallouts have good writing, they're so old a game that they need it too.

WOW

Is that your's user?

Does it make you look butch?

you're right

Nah, I found it on Instructables. It's a good crafts project, though. It looks good regardless of the source.

Yeah. Its been a while since I played through those. Although I give 2 more of a nod because you actually do live in that world, and have lived in that world, for a long long time rather than being sheltered in a vault.
Sure, you want to save your tribe but you still do need to worry about how those around you see you.

Personally a few scenarios for fallout games I've come up with:

Vault Dweller brought up with how important it will be to rebuild the waste lands and rebuild society.
You can spin this in a number of ways. The entire vault is at its end (only like a 50 year cycle) and you need to find a way to make the wastes livable for you and your vault dwellers.
Or, every generation, a vault dweller is sent out from that vault on a pilgrimage to see how the wastes are fairing and if its ok to come out and join/build civilization again.

other scenario:
Vault may be 100 years after the bombings. Its failing (as they do) but the catch is that its a group of bandits that pushed that failure and were waiting. As you all funnel out, many of you are slaughtered and some are captured to be slaves. You escape it or maybe don't and eventually get freed in the chaos of these bandits getting ganked by other bandits.
Either way, you're forced to live in the world as a citizen of the wastelands because everything you had before is completely wrecked and gone. This gives you a decent jump off point to take each faction with fresh eyes and the politics of the world in general. You are an outsider forced into this world with nothing to fall back or work back to.

Last Scenario:
A person living in one of the various settlements, maybe under one of the various factions, deciding that they want to revitalize the vaults. This can take place a good number of years after the bombs hit. Basically an upstart that's seen all the old propaganda about how great vaults are. Maybe even hears some shit from people who used to live in them before they failed, etc etc. Either way, trying to return to the vaults making you interact with factions to get the work done to make the vaults livable again. Maybe not 100% like they were but far better than some tin shack, right?
This would also make more sense to go along with the settlement building that was introduced in FO4.
In this scenario, vaults would become places where you might get new equipment or upgrades in various ways (dependent upon what faction you live in a vault and I suppose how many in total). Stuff that is better than anything scavenged.
I like this scenario the most because it gives the player a direct reason as to why they would participate in rebuilding society and gives them clear goals to do it. The zero to hero factor works well in that you're someone actively trying to change the world rather than just someone who fucking fell into that mess through the succession of fetch-quests every RPG hero finds themselves in.
Honestly, if real life worked like RPG games, being kind enough to bring someone back a soda from a vending machine in the office should eventually lead you to ruling or destroying the country.

Powder Gangers rule! Fuck the authorities!

Enjoy taking orders from fucking Lanius after that spic faggot dies from his tumor

...

Midwest?
More like
MidBEST.

every single 3d fallout game has retarded factions

fallout 4s are the most retarded though

Why will there never been a good fascist Enclave faction to join and rule the wasteland with?

You people have no ambition.
That's why you all fail.

Those are really big fingers

Brotherhood of fucking Steel, bitch.

They've been around says the war, and even though there's fewer of them then those mutated inbred mongrels on the surface, they could still kick every one of their asses, easily.

oh also,

It's really unfortunate that the powder gangers got nearly zero support as a viable faction.
You're even told by Joe Cobb that powerdergangers will still attack you even if you help them.

Lame as fuck. FNV had very few good options for being an bad leaning character.

Am I the only one who remembers when the NCR curb stomped their faces over a satellite dish?

Now the best faction is

The enclave

k

Is there any mod that actually adds content to them? Every faction is so empty compared to NCR

They use human wave tactics and only achieve Pyrrhic victories.

In FO2, being a slaver and/or child-killer lock you out of all but three (I'm not sure.) companions.

You are like those Legionfags that keep downplaying the Legion's defeat in the First Battle of Hoover Dam.

Reminder that the Legion was written to be shallow and le evil on purpose instead of being morally gray because they were just a MacGuffin

There's a blog link where one of the writers talk about it but fuck I can't find it

lol, yeah, a "victory"
sure

I never understood how it's meant to make sense that the NCR manged to be threatened by a bunch of guys wearing sports gear and armed with machetes.
Are they just that overpoweringly incompetent?

And then proceed to spend the next decade hiding in a bunker and slowly becoming progressively more inbred.

By NV the BOS could have all dropped dead overnight and nothing would have changed.

please bitch, they spent the last 100 years in a bunker. (actually many bunkers spread across the United States)
I think they'll be fine.

I think it has more to do with the tactics that differ between NCR and Legion
Legion seems to be harder on their soldiers and use a more direct approach
NCR seems to recruit a bunch of former wasteland drunkard caravaners and give them cheap mass produced post-apocalypse rifles and try to play it safe by stationing behind the front line instead of risking too many of their lives, in addition, the NCR set themselves up to defend key settlements and spread themselves thin while the Legion is fortified by the dam

jesawyer.tumblr.com/post/133867000061/3-disclaimers-i-love-new-vegas-love-the-legion
It was to make the civil war mean something unlike Skyrim.

Wouldn't have.
Couldn't have.
Excuses.

Also, declined a space solar gun, a pulse gun, and magic beans. House was right. They deserve to die.

Fuck off, Gilgamesh. You couldn't even keep your shit safe from a snake.

I think what makes the Legion specifically Grey really only involves Caesar. Even though Sawyer likes to say that Caesar is just a power hungry despot he never really comes off that way in the game. Caesar has self-awareness of both himself and his Legion, he recreated the Legion with a retrospective view on how it could be perfected. His solution was to be more brutal than the Roman's which was what he probably saw as their downfall.

Also, NCR troopers have shit armour.

I find it funny how hard the developer tried to prevent everyone sidding with House.

Caeser hated the constant tribal warfare and the decadence of the NCR. I think this was the only way that he can get an army that rivals the NCR in his lifetime. I find it funny that he learn this Marxist bullshit from the Follwers of Apocalypse.

These are actually pretty good ideas.
Probably too intelligent for Bethesda though, they would barely be able to comprehend something beyond saving a family member.

Yeah, why the fuck does it keep coming down to chasing after a family member for them? Is it just because that's a cheap way to try to force some connection to the character because people have families and if you and the character has a family you'll more easily identify with their plight?
Or do their writers just have some fucking issues?

official transcript of a fallout 4 creation meeting

I reafirm my former statement of you not having ambitions

The gods of old turn out to be the US government

I only join the legion when I want to have fun going chaotic evil.

Holla Forums either works for hitler or becomes hitler

The legion has the fascist part right but Caesars Legion is multicultural, which means that every culture they conquer they dissolve until there is no culture

And the Legion protects the trade lanes but it doesn't protect ANY of the people

It's more like Anarchy run by one guy

which in itself is Communism like Best Korea

Nice noble phantasm faggot

Legionfags are irredeemable turboautists, Caesar's understanding of Hegelian dialectics is literally nothing more than a (wrong) meme, the Legion's philosophy is not the same as that of your precious Holla Forums, and anyone who didn't go with the independent ending is retarded beyond any possibility of redemption.

Holy shit, I didn't know there was a real-life Pagan Min.

What is roleplaying?

...

The independent ending is best because it's the most open-ended, and gives you the most power in how you want to reshape the wasteland. You don't have to "give power to the people" if you don't want, it's up to you and your giant robot army.

Do you guys ever role plays as yourselves?
Not your alter ego but imagine if you were you a fat NEET who got kicked out of the basement and the only job in the wasteland was couriering?

I came across this idea quite recently and its really quite interesting because I really have to thing my choices through. Not what I would like to do but the choices I would actually do.

Sometimes I roleplay as a heroic version of myself, like what choices I would make if I were in situations that actually required courage and talent and charisma. But in terms of just making my character a boring person like me, no. If I did that, I'd spend the whole game in one town, trying to avoid danger and not starve.

...

...

I would stay in Goodsprings if I were actually roleplaying myself. The only mildly heroic thing I'd do is fend off the Powder Gangers, but that would only be because there's really no other choice.

I do play with permadeath. So far I spend 2 weeks just hanging around Goodsprings trying to muster enough courage to help SunnyD to protect the happy merchant. I just hid behind a rock and watched as most of the town got slaughtered.

I like to play as a loner in these types of games and generally be an asshole. More often than not I do anything evil because I found it amusing.

Man, choices are the easy part, as is day to day gameplay. But choosing stats and statgrowth according to your real personality is where the shit hits the fan. Charisma as RP-enforced dumpstat just leaves too many statpoints to come even close to staying realistic.

I think you have find a more interesting question unless you just want answers like these.

I had an idea of being transported into Fallout: New Vegas in fashion similar to Overlord but you don't play as the Courier. The Courier is a separate character whose personality is based on the most recent run you finished. He looks like you and has already left on his adventure a couple of days ago.

Doc Mitchell mistaken you for the Courier. What do you do?

I think that it is best that the talking Deathclaw faction gets killed off.

I liked how one of the rewards for Honest Hearts is the Mormon Bible.

This is what happens when you never stop LARPing.

Wait really?

They just copied the plot of the main game?

For some reason I didn't think even Bethesda would be that shit.

They copied the plot of Fallout 3. What did you expected?
